In the early 1900s, a tea businessman in New York had a problem. He wanted to send free tea samples (样品) to his customers. But small metal boxes were expensive, and he hoped to cut down costs. So he put tea leaves into small silk bags instead.
He wrote to his customers: “Please open the bag and put the tea into your teapot.” He thought they would follow his words. But the customers did something different. They found that the silk bag had many tiny holes, through which water could pass, so they put the whole bag into hot water.
The businessman was surprised when he learned this. Soon he realized his customers had found a better way to make tea. With the bag, people did not need a tea strainer. They just put the bag in a cup, poured hot water and waited. After drinking, they simply took out the bag and threw it away. There was no mess or tea leaves left in the cup. The businessman was happy to see this. He knew his customers had made a good choice.
The businessman had a sharp eye and spotted the great chance immediately. He started selling tea bags in many shops, so people could buy them easily. He then went on to produce tea bags with better materials. Later, paper bags replaced silk ones, and tea bags slowly became popular across the world. Today, you can find tea bags in almost every kitchen.
Not every great invention comes from a careful plan. The tea bag is a good example of this. If we stay open-minded and notice small surprises around us, we may find hidden chances waiting to be discovered.

A. To make tea taste better. B. To keep the tea fresh.
C. To cut the cost of samples. D. To make the bags look nice.

28. What does the underlined word “strainer” probably mean?
A. A tool used to keep tea warm. B. A tool used to separate tea from water.

A. Patient. B. Sharp-minded. C. Careless. D. Funny.

When we are kids, the wait between New Years feels like forever. But as we grow older, a whole year can seem to pass in the blink of an eye. Why does time seem to speed up as we age?
Professor Hinze Hogendoorn, an expert in time perception (感知), explains that our brains judge how much time has passed by counting the new events we experience. When we are young, everything is new—the first day of school, the first trip, the first job. These moments are full of fresh information, so our brains work hard to process it, and time feels slower. As we grow older, life becomes more routine. We do the same things each day, our brains process less new information, and a day, a month, or even a year can feel shorter. In other words, time does not really speed up; our brains simply become less busy.
Another explanation focuses on memory. When we look back on our lives, we judge how long the past felt by the number of memorable events we can clearly recall. Children have many “firsts”, and these rich, detailed memories make the past feel long. Adults, with fewer new experiences and more similar memories, feel the past as shorter.
Some researchers explain this with a “Ratio Theory (比率理论)”: one year is 10% of a 10-year-old’s life but only 2% of a 50-year-old’s, so the same year feels much shorter as we grow older.
Does this mean we cannot slow down time? Not exactly. Professor Hogendoorn suggests trying new things: find a new route to school, learn a new skill, or meet new people. When we do something new, our brain has more new information to process, and this can make time feel longer again.
31. Why does time seem slower to children?
A. They have more free time. B. They have fewer things to do.
C. They have better memories. D. They have many new experiences.
32. What does the “Ratio Theory” suggest?
A. A year feels the same to all ages. B. Older people have more memories.
C. A year is a smaller part of an older life. D. Children have a better sense of time.
33. Why does the writer mention “find a new route to school”?
A. To show that school life is boring. B. To suggest a way to bring freshness.
C. To explain why children walk slowly. D. To prove that adults have no free time.
34. What will the writer probably write about next?
A. How to make daily life feel new. B. Why old people forget things easily.
C. How to make a fixed daily plan. D. Why children love new experiences.
35. How is the text organized?
A. ① / ②③④ / ⑤ B. ① / ② / ③④ / ⑤
C. ①② / ③④ / ⑤ D. ① / ②③ / ④⑤
【答案】31. D 32. C 33. B 34. A 35. A

Imagine this: Your teacher gives your group a challenging project. Everyone sits in a circle. Some students have clear ideas about how to solve the problem, yet no one takes the first step. You are willing to help, but you hesitate (犹豫) and hold back. What leads to this situation?
This is known as the “group laziness effect”. Lots of social scientists explored it by doing a rope-pulling experiment. When people pulled alone, they tried their best. But when they worked in a big team, each person used much less effort.
Other scientists did more experiments. In one study, students were asked to finish a reading task. When working alone, most students took detailed notes and completed the task quickly. But when they worked in groups of three, many students did nothing and helped little. Only a few students kept working hard. The researchers found that the bigger the group is, the less effort each person gives.
Two major factors explain this effect. The first is “diffusion of responsibility (责任分散)”. In a group, everyone may think, “Someone else will do it,” so no one feels responsible for the result. The second is a false belief: if others don’t care, one may think the task is not important.
Group laziness is not limited to group projects. It also exists in many group-work situations, especially in classroom learning. When the teacher asks a difficult question, most students stay silent. They suppose other classmates will volunteer an answer. If every student thinks this way, no one will reply. It can also appear in group discussions, where students wait for others to share opinions instead of expressing their own thoughts.
Fortunately, we can fight against group laziness. Researchers suggest that when you join group work, never sit back and wait for others. Begin your own part of the task ahead of time. If you hope to encourage teammates to join in, avoid general questions like “Who can help?” Instead, turn to a specific teammate and say, “Tom, could you sort out the reading materials?” Once one person takes action, others are more likely to follow suit. One person’s active attitude can end the group’s inaction.
36. How does the writer start the text?
A. By giving an example. B. By listing numbers.
C. By expressing an opinion. D. By asking questions.
37. What is the “group laziness effect”?
A. The bigger the group is, the better the result.
B. People try harder when working in a big team.
C. Each person gives less effort in a group than alone.
D. Students take more notes when working in groups.
38. What mainly causes the group laziness?
A. Too many difficult tasks and unclear goals. B. Poor reading skills and low self-confidence.
C. Strict teachers and completely boring lessons. D. Lack of responsibility and proper understanding.
39. Which is the possible way to solve group laziness?
A. Let others take all the responsibility. B. Believe the task is not important at all.
C. Ask a certain teammate to do a clear task. D. Keep silent and wait for others to start first.
40. What does the writer want to tell us through the text?
A. Hard rules can build strong teams. B. Small acts can make a big difference.
C. Quiet waiting can bring good results. D. Silent students can become top leaders.
【答案】36. A 37. C 38. D 39. C 40. B

细节理解题。根据文章第四段“Two major factors explain this effect. The first is ‘diffusion of responsibility’. In a group, everyone may think, ‘Someone else will do it,’ so no one feels responsible for the result. The second is a false belief: if others don’t care, one may think the task is not important.”可知,导致群体懒惰的两大原因是责任分散(个人缺乏责任感)和错误认知(对任务重要性的判断有误),即缺乏责任感与正确的认知。
【39题详解】
细节理解题。根据文章最后一段“Instead, turn to a specific teammate and say, ‘Tom, could you sort out the reading materials?’”可知,向特定的队友分配明确的具体任务,是解决群体懒惰的可行方法。
【40题详解】
推理判断题。根据文章最后一段“Once one person takes action, others are more likely to follow suit. One person’s active attitude can end the group’s inaction.”
Have you ever wondered why our memory can keep repeated actions so well? ____41____ When we repeat an action many times, our memory stores it, and our brain builds special connections, which strengthen our memory.
To understand how different parts of memory work together, researchers conducted (实施) an experiment on mice. ____42____ If they turned left, they got tasty chocolate milk as a prize. If they turned right, they only got sugar water. Over weeks of training, the mice always chose the correct direction.
This is not just coincidence (巧合). When we first learn a new skill, certain areas of the brain are highly active, which makes the brain build new connections—the start of a memory. These brain areas help turn repeated actions into lasting memory. At first this memory is weak, but when we repeat the actions over and over again, our memory becomes stronger. The more we practise, the deeper the memory becomes. ____43____
The researchers tested this idea in the mice experiment as well. ____44____ They removed the chocolate milk to see whether the mice would still follow the old routine. Even when there was no tasty drink waiting for them, the mice still ran the same way without thinking. The mice had formed such a strong habit that it was hard to break.
____45____ Once a habit is formed, it’s difficult to change. So we should start building good ones early and stick to them with regular practice.
A. Finally, repeated actions become a habit.
B. They hoped mice would find new ways to get drinks.
C. They wanted to know if habits could be broken easily.
D. This is because they leave deep memories inside our brain.
E. The mice were trained to run through a tunnel to get a drink.
F. From the experiment, we learn that memory shapes our habits.
G. A good memory can help us save time and energy in our daily lives.
【答案】41. D 42. E 43. A 44. C 45. F

26. Why did the businessman first put tea into small silk bags?
A. To make tea taste better. B. To keep the tea fresh.
C. To cut the cost of samples. D. To make the bags look nice.
27. What did the customers do with the silk bags?
A. They put the whole bags into hot water.
B. They sent the bags back to the businessman.
C. They opened them and put the tea into a teapot.
D. They threw the bags away without opening them.
28. What does the underlined word “strainer” probably mean?
A. A tool used to keep tea warm. B. A tool used to separate tea from water.
C. A tool used to test tea quality. D. A tool used to measure the weight of tea.
29. Which word can best describe the businessman?
A. Patient. B. Sharp-minded. C. Careless. D. Funny.
30. What can we learn from the story?
A. A good businessman never makes mistakes. B. Customers preferred silk bags to paper ones.
C. Tea bags are more convenient than loose tea. D. Unexpected moments can bring new possibilities.

① / ②③ / ④⑤
D
第二节 阅读七选五(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
