A. a B. an C. the D. /
2. —Our city ________ a lot in the past ten years.
—Exactly. More and more tall buildings have appeared.
A. changes B. changed C. has changed D. will change
3. —________ has your father worked in the tea factory?
—Since 2015.
A. How often B. How long C. How soon D. How far
4. —________ you ever ________ to the new sports center?
—Yes, I ________ there with my father last Sunday.
A. Did; go; went B. Have; been; went
C. Have; gone; have been D. Did; go; have been
have been to表示“曾经去过某地,人已经回来”;have gone to表示“去了某地,人还没回来”。根据答语“I…there with my father last Sunday.”
5. She runs ________ faster than her sister.
A. very B. quite C. much D. so
very很,非常;quite相当,非常;much…… 应填much。
6. It’s careless ________ Danny ________ his schoolbag on the bus.
A. of ; leaving B. for ; to leave C. for ; leaving D. of ; to leave
固定句型“It’s + adj. + of/for + sb.
7. It was difficult ________ Tu Youyou ________ that kind of work back in those days.
A. of; to do B. for; to do C. of; doing D. for; doing
It is/was+adj.+for/of sb.+to do sth.

【答案】A

A. lives on B. drops out
C. comes true D. stands up
【答案】A

and和,or否则;narrow窄的;big大的。根据“Hurry up...we will be late for school”可知要快点,否则会迟到,第一空表示“否则”;根据“Neither of us can go through it.”
14. I wonder where ________.
A. the shop is B. does the shop C. will the shop is D. the shop does
【答案】A
the shop is(陈述语序);does the shop(疑问语序);will the shop is(语序和结构错误);the shop does(语义不符)。根据“I wonder where...” 故选用the shop is。
15. —The Mid-Autumn Festival is coming. I wonder ________.
—In your grandparents’ home.
A. where we will celebrate it B. when we will celebrate it
C. where will we celebrate it D. when will we celebrate it
【答案】A
应填where we will celebrate it。

Changes in Spring Festival Customs
The Spring Festival is the most important traditional festival in China. Its customs have changed a lot over the years. My grandparents told me that in the past, people used to visit their relatives and friends in person during the festival. They used to set off firecrackers to celebrate the new year. Children used to receive red envelopes with real cash inside.
Now, many things are different. People often send digital red envelopes through mobile apps instead of giving cash in person. Many families choose to watch the Spring Festival Gala on TV rather than going out. Firecrackers are not allowed in many cities because of environmental concerns. Instead, people enjoy colorful light shows. Although some traditions have changed, the spirit of reunion and happiness remains the same. People still get together for a big dinner on New Year’s Eve and exchange warm wishes.

Zhang Pu was a famous writer in China’s Ming Dynasty. When he was young, he did not have a good natural memory. He often forgot the content he had read just a few minutes earlier. This brought him lots of trouble in his study, and he felt quite upset about it.
Later, Zhang Pu found a useful way to deal with his problem. After reading a passage, he would copy it down word by word carefully. Then he read the copy aloud and burned it. Next, he copied the same passage again and repeated the whole process. He usually did this seven times for each article until he could keep every sentence in mind clearly.
His fingers were worn out because of long-time writing. In cold winter, his hands were cracked, but he never gave up. With years of hard work, he improved not only his memory but also his writing skills. In the end, he became a well-known and knowledgeable writer.

Mid-term exams are coming. Do you know how to arrange your review well? Here is some advice from top students.
First, make a list of what you need to review. Put the most difficult subjects first, because your brain works best when you are not too tired. Second, review in small blocks. For example, study for forty minutes, then take a ten-minute walk. This way, your mind stays fresh. Third, use your notes, not only the textbook. Good notes show what the teacher thinks is important. Fourth, test yourself. You can ask a classmate to ask you questions, or close the book and recall what you have read.
Remember not to put off review until the last day. If you go to bed late the night before the exam, you may forget what you have learnt. A good rest is part of good review, and it helps your brain keep what you have studied.
Start today, and you will feel calm and confident when the exam comes. Good review turns fear into confidence.
