Decide exactly what you want and where you want to go相照应。
故B项(不断努力,永不放弃)最能概括本段主旨,其中Keep trying和never give up与下文中的keep at it相照应。

A Sunny Mind, A Shining Week
To help students grow up happily, our school's Mental Health Center held a Mental Health Week last week, with the theme "Sunny Mind, Happy Growth".
During the week, several activities were organized. Experts gave lectures on how to deal with stress, and students took part in group games on the playground. Besides, we wrote our wishes on a "Wish Wall", which attracted many teachers and students.
Both teachers and students thought highly of the week. Many students said they felt much more relaxed and confident after taking part. I believe with a sunny mind, we will grow up healthily and happily.

A Sunny Mind, A Shining Week
Aimed at promoting students' psychological well-being, the Mental Health Week, themed "Sunny Mind, Happy Growth", was launched by our school's Mental Health Center last week.
A variety of activities featured the week. Not only did experts deliver inspiring lectures on stress management, but students also bonded with each other through group psychological games. What impressed us most was the "Wish Wall", where countless colorful notes carrying dreams and blessings were posted.
Feedback from teachers and students has been overwhelmingly positive, with many admitting that the activities helped them face pressure with greater confidence. Warmly received across campus, the week has planted a seed of positivity in everyone's heart, which will surely shine through our growth.
At a glance, I recognized it as my parents' car. At that moment, knowing that I was saved, I lowered my head, trying to avoid the eye contact with my parents. When I sat at the back, my parents said nothing about my rudeness before. Instead, along the way home, the car was filled with warmth and love showed by my parents, which taught a lesson about what family meant. Back home, I put the cracked phone on the couch, sneaking into my room quietly.
The next morning, the repaired phone lay on my bedside quietly. At first, I was curious about why the phone had appeared in my room without disturbing me the previous night. Then I lost into a deep thought that what I had done to my parents should have made them very sad, but actually, they never blamed me. I determined to change my addiction to indulging in phone games. From then on, I offered to share family matters, and the days without screen helped me grow up.

A few years ago, our administrative (行政的) team sent home what we thought was a clear English message regarding a schedule change about an upcoming assessment.
The next week, a visibly upset mother stopped me in the hallway. She said, in Spanish, that she hadn’t known anything about the schedule change. Her child was embarrassed and anxious, because they felt unprepared for the assessment. From the school’s point of view, we had “communicated”. From the family’s point of view, we hadn’t.
About 40 percent of the students at our middle school are Hispanic, and many speak Spanish or another language at home. Each year, we welcome dozens of newcomers, including students with interrupted formal education. The math is simple: Available bilingual (双语的) teachers are far fewer than what our communication needs require.
Our first move was to stop rewriting the same messages from scratch. We created a shared cloud folder with message banks for our most common situations. Each pattern follows a simple, translation friendly structure. We drafted everything in plain English first, avoiding idioms and long sentences. Then, with help from our bilingual staff, we created Spanish versions (版本) of the most used patterns.
We also realized that not every message needs to be a long email. Listening to a 60 to 90 second message — even with imperfect translation — is often easier for busy families. These messages are prepared from our banks, so they stay brief. Families have told us that hearing a familiar voice, even if they rely on the captions (字幕), helps them feel more connected and less overwhelmed.
Memories might fail us when we try to track the families we’ve contacted. So we’ve created a shared contact log. It is now a complement to our student information system — it gives us a quick, human centered view of communication patterns.
When communication becomes more consistent and accessible, families feel like true partners. And when families can actually hear us — and we can truly hear them — everything else we’re trying to improve at school becomes a little bit easier.
24.Why did the mother feel upset?
A.Because her son struggled to fit in. B.Because the message didn’t get across.
C.Because her son failed the assessment. D.Because she forgot the schedule change.
25.What can we infer from paragraph 3?
A.Bilingual teachers are in short supply. B.Communication class is not available.
C.Students must learn a second language. D.Math in middle school is easy to learn.
26.Which of the following could be an appropriate school message?
A.“Pass the test with flying colors.” B.“Test time is changed to this Friday.”
C.“Hit the books for the upcoming test.” D.“Not until Friday will the test begin.”
27.Which of the following best describes the school’s practice?
A. Complex. B. Traditional. C. Demanding. D. Inclusive.
C
Albert Einstein owed his brilliant mind to having a child like sense of humour. Indeed, a number of studies have found an association between humour and intelligence. Researchers in Austria recently discovered that funny people, particularly those who enjoy dark humour, have higher IQs than their less funny fellows. They argue that it takes both cognitive (认知) and emotional ability to process and produce humour. Their analysis shows that funny people have higher intelligence, and they score lower in mood disturbance and aggressiveness.
In psychology we use the term “positive humour style” to refer to people who use humour to enhance relationships and reduce conflict. This type of humour is associated with relationship satisfaction, extroversion (外向性) and high self respect. Having a humorous outlook on life is also a good coping strategy. It helps people better manage stress and challenges.
Not only do funny people make other people laugh, they also laugh more themselves. And laughter leads to brain changes, which may explain the link between humour and intelligence. Neuropsychological studies have found that experiencing positive emotional states, such as joy, fun and happiness, increases the production of dopamine (多巴胺) in the brain. Dopamine not only makes us feel great, it also opens up the learning centres of the brain, which enables and sustains more neural (神经) connections. As a result, we become more flexible and creative in our thinking, and better at solving problems. It also boosts our working memory.
Evidence suggests that humour actually bolster feelings of confidence, competence and status, making funny people very influential. Humour gets people to listen, helps communicate messages and aids learning. It is a powerful tool that many successful leaders use to enhance group work and organisational culture. Studies of positive organisations suggest the more fun we have at work the more productive we are, and the less likely we are to suffer burn out.
Research on the use of humour in education also supports the concept that humour is an effective aid to learning. Several studies have demonstrated that lessons that are delivered with humour are more enjoyable for students, and also enhance students comprehension and recall of the topic.
28.What can we learn from the researchers in Austria?
A.Funny people are always emotional. B.People enjoy dark humour most.
C.Less funny people are aggressive. D.Humorous people have a brilliant mind.
29.What does the author intend to show in Paragraph 3?
A.The benefit of laughter. B.The reason of our brain changes.
C.The association of humor and intelligence. D.The way of being creative in thinking.
30.What’s the meaning of the underlined word “bolster”?
A.Combine. B.Increase. C.Explain. D.Distribute.
31.What can be concluded from the research in education?
A.Teachers are always humour in class.
B.Students can understand humour better in class.
C.Effective learning depends on students’ humour levels.
D.Humorous classes are more efficient for students.
D
Are we about to use Gene Editing Technology to grow wings? Will we all be uploading our brains to the Amazon cloud? If you love science and engineering, sci-fi is the place you turn to imagine the answers. The problem is that many people are getting the wrong messages from these visions of tomorrow.
There are two main ways that people misread sci-fi. Let’s start with the simpler one, known as the Torment Nexus Problem. Coined in a 2021 tweet, it refers to a situation in which people read or watch a sci-fi story but focus on its futuristic tech --- which, in the original stories, is often the very source of human suffering ---rather than the story’s actual point. As a result, you get billionaire Peter Thiel co-founding a company called Palantir, named after the fantasy tech of the “seeing stones” in The Lord of the Rings that drive their users to evil and madness. Palantir’s products have recently been used in airstrikes on Gaza. The author J. R. R. Tolkien would not be amused.
The second major way people misread science fiction could be called the Blueprint Problem. Essentially, it’s the mistaken idea that sci-fi provides an exact model for what is coming next and if we copy what happens in sci-fi, we will arrive in a glorious future. The Blue print Problem inspired a lot of early space programmes in the 1950s, which prioritised putting humans into space rather than exploring it remotely with robotic spacecraft. We were told AI would become our obedient servants and brilliant experts in so much sci-fi over the past century, making robocops and holographic(全息的) doctors seem inevitable but they aren’t.
Science fiction isn’t a map or a prescription. Instead, it is a world view, a way of approaching problems with the underlying assumption that things don’t have to be the way they are. The future isn’t predetermined; it’s a process, and people are actively shaping it.
32. The mention of “Palantir”‘ serves to show that ________.
A. Tolkien’s work has inspired real world evil
B. name choosing is vital for a company’s image
C. sci-fi serves as a practical guide for inventors
D. the sci-fi story’s true message often goes unnoticed
33. What is the “Blueprint Problem” as described in paragraph 3?
A. Having robots take over human jobs. B. Viewing sci-fi as a perfect future model.
C. Expecting authors to engineer real tech. D. Favoring robots over astronauts in space.
34. What does the author imply in the last paragraph?
A. Sci-fi exposes the essence of things. B. Sci-fi is a rigid guide for future planning.
C. Sci-fi is a mindset for re-examining reality. D. Sci-fi predicts specific technological outcomes.
35. What can be a suitable title for the passage?
A. The Misreading Traps of Sci-fi B. The Hidden Dangers of Sci-fi
C. The Moral Dilemmas in Sci-fi D. The Technological Fantasies of Sci-fi
Do you often set the same goals again and again but fail to achieve them? You are not alone. Many people face the same dilemma. But goal setting, when done properly, is a powerful process that can turn your dreams into reality. Here are some tips for you.
Find your purpose. Decide exactly what you want and where you want to go. Ask yourself why you want to achieve your goals. The answer to that question is what motivates you and shows you the right path to take. 36
Write down your goals. People who are most likely to reach their goals are those who write them down and develop plans to reach them. So get a pen and write down your goals. 37 Know what you want to achieve for each period of your life, and make sure to look back and see if you have actually achieved your goals.
Make your goals measurable. 38 The more measurable they are, the more likely you’ll be to achieve them. For example, instead of saying “I want to learn a new computer skill,” say “I will take a class between March and June and spend six to eight hours a week learning its applications.”
Set specific deadlines. Remember, a goal is just a dream with a deadline. You are far more likely to take action when you set a specific time for completing your goal. 39 Schedule enough time to reach the goal, but not so much time that you lose interest in it.
40 Life is filled with highs and lows. Take failure as a learning experience and keep going. As long as you keep at it, no matter what the goal is, you will finally achieve it.
A. Share your goals with others.
B. Keep trying and never give up.
C. Only in this way can your progress be tracked.
D. Set goals by month, year, and even five-year periods.
E. Without a clear, specific goal, success is nearly impossible.
F. Focus on one goal at a time rather than spreading yourself too thin.
G. When you pick your date, write it down along with the specifics of the goal.

For Spanish scholar Ana Maria, traditional Chinese poetry is more than literature—it is a bond connecting two distant civilizations through 56 (share) feelings and lasting charm.

“Translating ancient Chinese poems into modern Spanish was a huge challenge, because Spanish literature is 59 (relative) short-lived, while Chinese poetry has thousands of years of growth, with rich styles and many distinguished writers,” Ana Maria says. 60 (link) different cultures, she carefully keeps the emotion and rhythm of the originals while mixing them with the beauty of Spanish poetry, creating a warm dialogue that bridges cultures.
My dad is a phone repairman. He is familiar with the screen with spiderweb cracks—the fight between parents and kids is always an open secret. Over time, he’s become really sensitive about the problem of teenagers glued to their phones. Unluckily, I have become one of them. I always spend hours scrolling through social media, playing games, and ignore family matters.
One rainy evening, I had promised to attend my cousin’s birthday dinner, but I lost track of time while playing an online game and finally told my parents that I had something important to do. When my parents came home to find me still on the couch, my phone in hand, my dad’s voice trembled with anger. “Is the so-called important thing just this? Can’t you prioritize anything over that screen?” I shouted, “It’s nothing but a dinner!” I stormed out of the house with a loud slam of the door. Without looking back, I was ready to teach my parents a lesson by staying far away overnight.
After what seemed like an age, I wandered aimlessly around the wet streets away from home. I was surrounded by the dark night. Suddenly my foot slipped, my phone crashing heavily from my hand onto the hard ground. The screen was full of spider cracks and the phone died instantly. Panic surged through me --- without my phone, I had no way to contact others. I had to stay at a bus stop, cold and scared, as the rain poured down.
Deep into the night, there were few vehicles on the road, let alone pedestrians. My eyes grew misty. All of a sudden, out of nowhere, warm yellow headlights cut through the dark ahead. A car rolled slowly and smoothly toward me. The second it came close, my heart jumped.

At a glance, I recognized it as my parents’ car.
