An invention refers to something produced or designed that has not existed before. It may be a new product or a creative new way to do things.
Inventions come about in many ways. Most of the time, inventions happen because someone works to solve a problem. Sometimes inventions are the result of accidents.
Look at things around you. You can find pencils, bikes and books. They are inventions. People invented them and made them in factories. You may also see tea, fruit and stones. They are not inventions. They come from nature.
Inventing is interesting and exciting, and everyone can be an inventor. Do you want to be an inventor? Here are a few simple steps to follow in the invention process.
First, use your imagination. You can have wild and crazy thoughts. This is the most important step. Remember that no idea is too silly. Many people laughed at the Wright brothers and said they would never fly. But they never gave up. That’s why now we have planes. Then, plan and design your invention. Careful planning is important in the invention process. This is the time to think out many good ideas and to evaluate (评估) them. After that, draw your invention. Make a detailed drawing of your invention so others will understand how your invention works. And you must make a model of your invention. Next, test your invention. See whether your invention can work as it is planned. If not, do more research, redesign and test it again. Finally, name your invention. You must name your invention before applying for a patent (专利) for your invention.
Now, are you ready to get started? If you dream big and work hard, you can also become a great inventor someday.
