Where are you going for the next vacation? Look at these two wonderful places. Zambia If you want to see many kinds of wild animals, Zambia will be a good choice. In Zambia, you can go into animals’ homes without any fences (围栏). You can even swim near Victoria Falls! There are only three seasons in Zambia—a hot and dry season, a wet rainy season, and a cool dry season. In the wet season, it’s always rainy and not great for visiting. But the dry season is a lovely time. Marseille, France Marseille is the second largest city in France. You can enjoy the Mediterranean (地中海的) culture there. It is also great to visit a local vineyard (葡萄园). The weather in summer is mostly sunny and clear. That’s the best time of the year to visit. But if you like cooler temperatures and visiting with fewer people, then spring or fall might be a better choice. 21. What can you see if you go to Zambia? A. Wild animals. B. Many grapes. C. B Getting in touch with friends is difficult after people change schools or move house. They don’t know how to start the conversation again if they don’t talk with their friends for a long time. Many people want to get in touch with old friends, but they are afraid to do so. Psychologists (心理学家) from colleges did a study about how people feel about getting in touch with old friends. The study shows over 90% of the people don’t call their old friends. 70% of them don’t want to call their friends first, because they worry that their old friends won’t want to hear from them and maybe their old friends are too busy to talk with them. Some people even think getting in touch with their old friends is as hard as talking to strange people. Lara Aknin, one of the psychologists, said, “Most people are worried that they have different lifestyles and interests now. But these differences can be helpful for people to get close to each other. After sharing something new and interesting, they won’t feel embarrassed (尴尬的) at all. Instead, they know each other better.” In fact, if you get in touch with an old friend, you will be surprised to find that he or she is also looking forward to hearing from you. So, why not give your old friend a call? 24. How does the writer start the passage? A. By telling a story. B. By giving a fact. C. By asking a question. D. By listing numbers. 25. What can we learn from Lara Aknin’s words? A. It’s hard to get in touch with old friends. B. We can’t share our things with old friends. C. Differences may help people get close to old friends. D. Most people might have different lifestyles and interests. 26. What does the writer want to tell us? A. It’s important to have some good friends. B. Be brave to get in touch with your old friends. C. We should make as many new friends as possible. D. Make friends with people having the same interest. C The Venus flytrap (捕蝇草) is an amazing meat-eating plant growing in a small area of North Carolina and South Carolina in the United States. While most plants get their “food” from the soil, this clever hunter uses special leaves to catch insects. Each leaf acts like a tiny green mouth with special hairs. When an insect touches one of the hairs, the leaf is triggered (触发), but it doesn’t close right away. However, if the insect touches a second hair within 20 seconds, the leaf closes quickly and catches the insect inside. This “double-touch rule” stops the plant from wasting energy on things like drops of rain. Even then, the plant waits for the fifth touch from the insect before digesting (消化) it. The Venus flytrap does not need to eat insects very often. In fact, it can live for weeks without food as long as it gets enough sunlight. On average, it catches two to three insects every month. These meals help the plant to grow, much like a bear living off a few large fish. ▲ A survey by the North Carolina Natural Heritage Program in 2019 found 163,951 Venus flytraps in North Carolina and 4,876 in South Carolina. This marked a 93% drop compared with 4.5 million in 1979. By 2016, the plant could only be found in the wild in 71 places. However, only 20 of these could help the plant to grow. The Venus flytrap shows us how creative nature can be. It’s not just a plant—it’s a smart hunter too! 27. What does Paragraph 2 mainly want to show? A. How the hunting system works. B. Why the Venus flytrap eats insects. C. What the Venus flytrap looks like. D. What the Venus flytrap needs to grow well. 28. Which of the following can be put into “ ▲ ” in Paragraph 4? A. Where can people find the plant? B. Sadly, this amazing plant is in danger. C. Scientists are interested in this amazing plant. D. How many Venus flytraps are there in the world? 29. Which of the following questions can be answered by the text? A. How can people protect the Venus flytrap? B. How did people plant the Venus flytrap? C. Is it possible to grow a Venus flytrap at home? D. What else can help the Venus flytrap live besides insects? 30. What’s the best title of the text? A. The good points of a special plant. B. Ways to protect the Venus flytrap. C. Some facts about a fantastic plant. D. The places where Venus flytrap grow. 四、阅读表达(共5小题,每小题2分,满分10分) 阅读短文,简要回答问题。 When we meet someone for the first time, we learn about them by how they talk or act. But now, with social media, we often form first impressions (印象) even before meeting face to face—by looking at their profile pictures (个人头像). A profile picture is the main picture you use to stand for yourself on social media. It is the small picture that appears next to your name, letting people see who you are online. A study shows that profile pictures can tell us about a person’s personality. For example, outgoing people like to stand in fun poses and use props (道具) like hats or musical instruments. They love excitement and like to show it. Some people are more nervous or shy and they often hide their feelings. They may use pictures of their pets, cars, or places instead of their own faces. Colors in the photos also show something. Outgoing people often choose bright and colorful pictures because they want to stand out. Profile photos are a way to express who you are or who you want to be. So when you pick a profile photo, think about what you want others to see. Remember: first impressions are important and can last a long time. 根据语篇内容,按要求回答问题。 31. B.
