They’re Moonwalkers, battery-powered shoes with wheels. They are billed as “the world’s fastest shoes”. How do Moonwalkers work? Fix Moonwalkers to your shoes, power them on, and begin walking. The artificial intelligence software driving Moonwalkers measures and adjusts (调整) on-the-fly to both the terrain (地形) you’re on and the way you walk, providing a safe and enjoyable walking experience. Moonwalkers move only when you do. They sense when you’re speeding up or slowing down. LOCK mode allows you to go up and down stairs confidently. Why do you choose Moonwalkers? ·Walk at the speed of a run: Get to where you’re going in less than half the time it normally takes. With a top speed of 7 mph, Moonwalkers improve every step. ·Expand (扩大) your footprint: Moonwalkers make walking many city blocks, even further, no sweat. ·Less stress: Less walking equals less stress on your body. Moonwalkers feature a user-friendly system that helps you naturally maintain mobility and balance. ·Freedom to go anywhere: Tested on dirt and much more, Moonwalkers can handle our current city and allow you to walk a hill like it’s nothing. Also, Moonwalkers can survive walking through rain. Despite their wide uses, they are not roller skates, so they do not freewheel, ever. What is the maximum user weight? Moonwalkers can support a maximum user weight of 220lbs (100kg). If you weigh more than 220lbs, you can still use Moonwalkers but will experience slightly reduced performance in certain edge cases. 21.(2.5分)What can we know about Moonwalkers? A.The hilly terrain. B.The rainy weather. C.The user weight. D.The walking distance. B Over the decades, Yasmeen Lari, Pakistan’s first female architect, has won much recognition as an architect and environmentalist. When Lari was young, she had an unconventional upbringing. Her father was a progressive civil service officer who often talked about the housing crisis and need for architects, which impressed Lari greatly. At age 17, she was admitted to the architecture school at Oxford Brookes University as one of only five women in the class. After graduation, as her buildings rose, Lari’s renown grew. She held senior positions in national and international architectural groups. “It was a very heady experience,” she says. Yet she found ways to stay grounded. Soon the discomfort with commercial projects grew in her — with their creative freedom, large budgets and luxurious materials. She could no longer justify fashioning buildings out of unsustainable materials when millions had limited access to housing, sanitation (公共卫生) and water. “Architects can no longer work for just the one percent,” she says, “That doesn’t allow them to serve humanity as much as they could.” In 2013, when Lari was giving a tour of a village that had been rebuilt after destructive floods, she watched the villagers show off the buildings she had designed. “Our old buildings used to leak when it rained, but these stay dry inside,” one villager told Lari. Pakistan’s location and melting glaciers place it within the top ten countries most impacted by climate change. Lari’s shelters, made with local sustainable materials such as bamboo, mud and lime, can better withstand disasters. Her insistence on low-cost, zero-waste and zero-carbon buildings reflects her commitment to the planet. At age 83, Yasmeen Lari is still working on zero-carbon designs and self-sustaining villages. When she accepted the Royal Institute of British Architects Gold Medal, she said, the honour “has strengthened my mission”. 24. What made Lari take an interest in architecture? A. Shortage of female architects. B. Traditional parenting values. C. Her father’s influence in childhood. D. Admission to an architecture school. 25. Which statement about architects may Lari agree with? A. They should center on the well-being of the general public. B. They should spend millions of dollars in fashioning buildings. C. They should be a hundred percent committed to their mission. D. They should use luxurious materials to display their creativity. 26. What did the villager think of the house designed by Lari? A. Cost-effective. B. Material-saving. C. Water-proof. D. Eco-friendly. 27. What was her mission according to Lari? A. To call for zero-carbon lifestyles. B. To help poor people build houses. C. To develop sustainable construction materials. D. To construct environmentally-friendly buildings. C We can all think of certain voices that stick in our minds long after we hear them — perhaps a familiar voice, or that of a stranger from a brief conversation. We often explain this through familiarity or personal experience. But a study published in Nature Human Behaviour challenged that assumption by asking whether some voices possess intrinsic memorability. Researchers at the University of Chicago tested this in three experiments with over 3,000 participants. In the first two, separate groups of listeners heard recordings of different speakers. Each experiment used a different fixed sentence, read by every speaker. Some recordings were repeated later, and listeners pressed a key when they recognized a repeat. Holding the words constant allowed the team to focus on differences in memory linked to the voices themselves. A clear pattern emerged: certain recordings were consistently easier to remember across listeners. The same speakers also tended to be similarly memorable in both experiments. This suggested that memorability might belong to the speaker, and the third experiment tested the idea more directly. There, a mix of both sentences was used, requiring listeners to recognize the same speaker across different sentences. Again, certain speakers were easier to identify, strengthening the evidence for speaker-level memorability. The team next asked whether this memorability could be predicted. Software measured acoustic (声学的) features, including pitch (音高) and speaking speed. The researchers also considered accent and listener judgments of personality. Models built from these measures predicted which voices were more memorable. More importantly, a model trained on one sentence could still predict memorability when the same speakers said the other. The successful predictors were low-level acoustic features, though no single feature explained the effect. Taken together, the findings suggest that voice memorability is not entirely personal. Some voices seem consistently easier to remember, and part of that difference can be predicted from sound itself. Understanding why could help teachers and language-learning tools choose voices that stay in memory. 28. What does the underlined word “intrinsic” in paragraph 1 most probably mean? A.Artificial. B.Acquired. C.Built-in. D.Short-term. 29. Why was a fixed sentence used in each of the first two experiments? A.To reduce the effect of words. B.To test memory for the messages. C.To make repeats easier to notice. D.To make speakers equally memorable. 30. What did the third experiment help confirm? A.Voice memorability is linked to the speaker. B.Voice recognition relies on particular recordings. C.Repeated recordings strengthen listeners’ memory. D.Sentence changes make voices easier to recognize. 31. What might be an application of the finding? A.Ranking voices using personality tests. B.Selecting voices through sound features. C.Choosing voices with one particular pitch. D.Changing speakers’ gestures to improve memory. D The world is changing, and so is the way we build things. Traditional construction materials have been causing environmental and resource problems, but now there are new, exciting alternatives on the rise. One of these creative materials is FabBRICK, a brick made from waste fabrics (织物). FabBRICK was founded by architect Clarisse Merlet in 2019. During her studies in 2017, Merlet experimented with various waste materials, such as plastic bottles and cardboard. Her focus soon shifted to fabric waste, using cotton’s natural ability to block sound and heat to create ecological building materials. Merlet explains, “Being an architecture student made me look for ways to build differently. I created several models using eco-friendly glues and tried different ways to press fabric together. My successful model was fire-resistant and waterproof (防水的).” FabBRICK works with businesses to transform their fabric waste into new products, promoting waste reduction and recycling awareness. The company processes unwanted clothes at a Parisian studio, where clothes are sorted by color and cut up into fibers. These fibers are then mixed with an ecological glue and pressed into bricks without the use of conventional dyeing, maintaining the fabric’s original colors. These bricks find various applications, from individual blocks and dividing walls to furniture parts built into chairs and tables. FabBRICK’s innovative approach has made it possible to work with various brands, turning over 90 kg of recycled fabric into decorative wall coverings for stores like the Kilo Shop in Paris. The company also engages in significant projects, such as creating mobile walls that block sound for Decathlon’s new workspace in Lille, using over 200 kg of the brand’s leftover fabric from production. The potential of FabBRICK as a structural material is still being explored. With the aim of expanding its market reach, FabBRICK is considering the establishment of factories in different regions to deal with local fabric waste effectively. Clarisse Merlet emphasizes the global application of FabBRICK, stating, “FabBRICK can be developed worldwide, as unfortunately, fast fashion is everywhere, providing a continual source of fabric waste.” 32.What made Clarisse Merlet focus on fabric waste? A.Failed trails in experiments. B.Special properties of cotton. C.Requirements from her studies. D.New ways to press waste. 33.What is Paragraph 3 mainly about? A.How the eco-bricks are made. B.What FabBRICK aims to do. C.Who FabBRICK partners with. D.How colors are preserved in eco-bricks. 34.How does the author introduce the bricks’ application? A.By offering rich statistics. B.By analyzing scientific principles. C.By listing real-life examples. D.By comparing with other materials. 35.What can we learn from the last paragraph? A.FabBRICK has limitations as a structural material. B.FabBRICK provides a continual source for fast fashion. C.Fast fashion’s waste drives FabBRICK’s global expansion. D.Building new factories is FabBRICK’s most important goal. Characteristics of an excellent scientist The dictionary defines a scientist as a person having professional knowledge on one or more sciences, especially natural science or physical science.____36____ Let’s look at some characteristics of an excellent scientist. She was leaving for London because she got a new job there. It was said that her new boss was a typical English gentleman — polite, modest, humorous and considerate. She was excited as well as a little nervous about her new life. With several long hours before her flight, the woman hunted for a book in the airport shops, bought a packet of cookies and found a place to sit. She took out a book and started to read. Although she was absorbed in her book, she happened to see that the man sitting beside her, as bold as he could be, grabbed a cookie or two from the bag in between them. Educated to be well-mannered, she tried to ignore it to avoid an argument. But to show that she was the owner, she started to take cookies from that bag too. Unfortunately, the man didn’t get that hint, since he didn’t stop grabbing the cookies. “How annoying!” she thought. As the greedy cookie thief kept eating, the woman munched (用力咀嚼) some cookies and watched the clock. She was getting angrier as the minutes went by, thinking, “If I weren’t so nice, I would blacken his eyes.” With each cookie she took, he took one, too; when only one was left, she wondered what he would do. With a smile on his face, and a nervous laugh, he took the last cookie and broke it in half. He offered her a half, and ate the other. She grabbed it from him, glared at him and thought, “Oh, brother. This guy has some nerve and he is so rude! Why didn’t he even show any gratefulness?” She had never known when she had been so angry, and sighed in relief when her flight was called. She gathered her belongings and headed to the gate quickly, refusing to look back at the rude thief. She boarded the plane, sank in her seat, and looked for her book, which was almost complete. Paragraph 1: As she reached in her baggage, she gasped (喘气) with surprise. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: Surprisingly, she found the man sitting just behind her. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 1 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 高二英语2026-2027学年度期中测试卷 第一部分: 听力原文: Text 1 [1.C] M: How is the new job, Cathy? 根据第二段“Her father was a progressive civil service officer who often talked about the housing crisis and need for architects, which impressed Lari greatly.(她的父亲是一位进步的公务员,经常谈论住房危机和对建筑师的需求,这给Lari留下了深刻的印象。)” 根据第三段““Architects can no longer work for just the one percent,” she says, “That doesn’t allow them to serve humanity as much as they could.”(“建筑师不能再只为那1%的人工作了,”她说,“这让他们无法尽其所能为人类服务。”)” 故选A。 根据倒数第二段““Our old buildings used to leak when it rained, but these stay dry inside,” one villager told Lari.(一位村民告诉Lari:“以前下雨时,我们的老房子会漏水,但这些房子里面是干燥的。”)” 根据倒数第二段“Her insistence on low-cost, zero-waste and zero-carbon buildings reflects her commitment to the planet.(她对低成本、零浪费和零碳建筑的坚持反映了她对地球的承诺。)” 根据第一段中“We often explain this through familiarity or personal experience. But a study published in Nature Human Behaviour challenged that assumption by asking whether some voices possess intrinsic memorability. (我们通常用熟悉感或个人经历来解释这一点。但一项发表在《自然·人类行为》上的研究对此假设提出了挑战,它探究了某些声音是否具有intrinsic可记忆性)”可知,人们通常认为对声音的记忆来自熟悉度或个人经历,但这项研究质疑该观点,探究一些声音是否具备本身固有的记忆属性。intrinsic意为“固有的,内在的”,与C项“Built-in”同义。 29.细节理解题。根据第二段中“Holding the words constant allowed the team to focus on differences in memory linked to the voices themselves. (保持文字不变,研究团队就可以聚焦于与声音本身相关的记忆差异)”可知,前两个实验使用固定句子,保持文字内容不变,目的是减少文字本身带来的影响,把研究重点放在声音本身带来的记忆差异上。 30.细节理解题。根据第三段中“This suggested that memorability might belong to the speaker, and the third experiment tested the idea more directly. There, a mix of both sentences was used, requiring listeners to recognize the same speaker across different sentences. Again, certain speakers were easier to identify, strengthening the evidence for speaker-level memorability. (这表明可记忆性或许属于说话者本身,而第三项实验则更直接地验证了这一观点。在该实验中,研究者混合使用了两种句子,要求听者在不同句子中识别出相同的说话人。结果再次显示,某些说话人更容易被识别出来,从而进一步强化了‘说话人层面的可记忆性’这一证据)”可知,第三个实验确认了声音的记忆属性与说话者本身相关。 31.推理判断题。根据第四段中“The successful predictors were low-level acoustic features, though no single feature explained the effect. (成功的预测指标是低层次的声学特征,尽管没有任何单一特征能完全解释这种效果)”以及最后一段“Understanding why could help teachers and language-learning tools choose voices that stay in memory. 根据第二段中的“Her focus soon shifted to fabric waste, using cotton’s natural ability to block sound and heat to create ecological building materials (她的研究重点很快转向了织物废料,利用棉花天然的隔音隔热性能来制造环保建筑材料)”可知,克拉丽丝·梅莱关注织物废料的原因是棉花的特殊属性。故选B项。 33. 根据第三段中的“FabBRICK works with businesses to transform their fabric waste into new products, promoting waste reduction and recycling awareness. The company processes unwanted clothes at a Parisian studio, where clothes are sorted by color and cut up into fibers. These fibers are then mixed with an ecological glue and pressed into bricks without the use of conventional dyeing, maintaining the fabric’s original colors.(FabBRICK 与企业合作,将其产生的织物废料转化为新产品,同时推动减少浪费和提升回收意识。 故选A项。 34. 根据第四段中的“These bricks find various applications, from individual blocks and dividing walls to furniture parts built into chairs and tables. FabBRICK’s innovative approach has made it possible to work with various brands, turning over 90 kg of recycled fabric into decorative wall coverings for stores like the Kilo Shop in Paris. The company also engages in significant projects, such as creating mobile walls that block sound for Decathlon’s new workspace in Lille, using over 200 kg of the brand’s leftover fabric from production.(这些砖块的应用场景十分广泛,既可用作单独的砌块、隔墙,也能加工成嵌入桌椅的家具部件。FabBRICK 的创新理念使其得以与多个品牌合作 —— 例如,他们将 90 多公斤回收织物转化为装饰墙面材料,用于巴黎 Kilo Shop 等门店。该公司还参与了多个重要项目,比如为迪卡侬里尔新办公区打造隔音移动墙,这一项目就使用了该品牌超过 200 公斤的生产剩余织物)”可知,作者通过“列举真实案例”介绍砖块的应用。故选C项。 35.推理判断题。根据最后一段中的“FabBRICK can be developed worldwide, as unfortunately, fast fashion is everywhere, providing a continual source of fabric waste (FabBRICK可以在全球范围内推广,因为不幸的是,快时尚无处不在,为其提供了持续的织物废料来源)”可知,“快时尚产生的废料推动了FabBRICK的全球扩展”。故选C项。 36. C 37. G 38. B 39. D 40. With the rapid development of artificial intelligence, many wonder if AI will eventually replace humans. I believe that while AI will significantly transform many aspects of our lives, it is unlikely to completely replace human beings. Firstly, AI lacks genuine emotions and creativity. It can analyze data and perform tasks efficiently, but it cannot truly understand human feelings or produce original ideas inspired by personal experiences. Fields like art, literature, and counseling will always require the human touch. Secondly, human judgment and ethical decision-making are irreplaceable. AI operates based on algorithms and data, which may contain biases. Important decisions in areas like justice and healthcare need human values and moral considerations. In conclusion, AI is a powerful tool that can assist humans rather than replace us. The future lies in collaboration between humans and AI, where we use technology to enhance our capabilities while relying on our unique human qualities. 词汇积累: ①转变:transform→alter ②取代:replace→take the place of ③理解:understand→comprehend ④偏见:bias→prejudice 2. It can analyze data and perform tasks efficiently, but it cannot truly understand human feelings or produce original ideas inspired by personal experiences. Although it can analyze data and perform tasks efficiently, it is unable to truly understand human feelings or produce original ideas which are inspired by personal experiences. 1】With the rapid development of artificial intelligence, many wonder if AI will eventually replace humans.(运用if引导宾语从句) 【高分句型 2】AI operates based on algorithms and data, which may contain biases.(用了 which引导非限制性定语从句) 第二节:【答案】 One possible version: Paragraph 1: As she reached in her baggage, she gasped (喘气) with surprise. She took it out carefully and was surprised to see her own packet of cookies. At that moment the woman was so ashamed that she covered her face with her wide-open mouth, and for an instant she blushed. The plane seemed to stop there rooted to the spot. “Why had I ridiculously considered him a cookie thief? I owe him a sincere apology,” she thought. Just as she was blank in her head, suddenly, a soft and clear voice, “Excuse me, Lady,” woke her up to the real world. Instinctively she glanced back to see who he was. Paragraph 2: Surprisingly, she found the man sitting right behind her. It was the man who, she thought, was rude and ate her cookies, smiling at her. She lowered a bit of her body shamefully, hesitated for a moment and introduced herself nervously. After further communication, she was surprised to find that the gentleman was her new boss in London. She was struck dead with embarrassment with her heart beating painfully fast and banging against her ribs. All the air seemed to be frozen, and she felt as if the whole world were watching her. Seeing her embarrassment and nervousness, the considerate boss patiently calmed her down and asked her to discuss her new job in advance. “What a coincidence! What an unforgivable mistake!” she thought. 词汇激活 行为类 ①脸红:blush/flush/redden ②认为:consider/deem/conceive ③看:watch/see/observe ④讨论:discuss/talk about/speak about 情绪类 ①惊讶的:surprised/astonished/astounded ②羞愧的:ashamed/embarrassed/humiliated ③紧张地:nervously/anxiously/apprehensively 【点睛】[高分句型1] At that moment the woman was so ashamed that she covered her face with her wide-open mouth, and for an instant she blushed.
