It is that time of the year, when a handful of world’s leading scholars, social activists and researchers are rewarded with what is often cited as the most prestigious acknowledgement of human effort-the Nobel Prize. Here’s a look at who has won the prize and for what.
Physiology or Medicine
Swedish geneticist Svante Peabo won the first Nobel of the year, for starting the field of ancient DNA studies. He is well-known for extracting, sequencing, and analyzing ancient DNA from Neanderthal bones.
Physics
Alain Aspect, John F. Clauser and Anton Zeilinger’s work in quantum (量子) technology landed them the second Nobel Prize announced in 2022. Although Aspect is from France, Clauser from the U.S, and Zeilinger from Austria, the three separately performed “groundbreaking experiments” as one team. “Their results have cleared the way for new technology,” the committee stated.
Chemistry
The Nobel Prize for chemistry went to another trio, Carolyn R. Bertozzi from the U.S., Morten Meldal from Denmark and K. Barry Sharpless from the U.S. “for the development of click chemistry and biorthogonal chemistry,” the committee stated. Dr. Bertozzi is the eighth woman chemist to be awarded the prize, while Dr. Sharpless is the fifth scientist to be awarded two Nobel Prizes.
Economics
The Prize in Economic Sciences was awarded to three American economists, Ben S. Bernanke, Douglas W. Diamond and Philip H. Dybvig “for research on banks and financial crises,” the Nobel Prize committee announced on Monday. By studying the history of American economics, particularly the Great Depression of the 1930s,they improved how we understand the role of banks during times of hardship and the bank’s impact on societal functions.
1. What prize is related to the research with bones?
A. Physiology. B. Chemistry. C. Physics. D. Economics.
2. For what study did Ben S. Bernanke, Douglas W. Diamond and Philip H. Dybvig win the prize?

In high school I was very shy, content to hang around with my small group of friends and concentrate on my courses. I was quickly regarded as a “brain”. I did so well that by the end of the senior year I had perfect grades and enough credits to give up an entire quarter of coursework.
But in early June of the senior year, the principal called me into his office. He asked me to give a speech at graduation. I gaped (目瞪口呆地凝视) at him, my heart thumping. This was the reward for my hard work? I mumbled something and fled the office, blaming myself for staying away from physics, a subject sure to have ruined my perfect record.
I finally agreed to a compromise. I would share the honor with five other students. And my friend Judy would then give her own, fulllength speech.
Graduation day soon arrived. I’d been practicing my speech for days, and I had it memorized. The first half hour of the ceremony passed in a blur, and then my moment came. My name was announced. I managed to reach the podium (讲台) without falling down. I faced my classmates. My voice trembled a little, but mostly it was clear and strong. But within seconds, I was done and headed back to my seat. I accomplished something I’d never dreamed of—I spoke in front of hundreds of people.
Although I didn’t realize it at the time, the successful completion of that speech gave me the confidence to participate in class at college, to give verbal reports, and to eventually break free from my shyness. I never would have chosen to give a speech at graduation ever. But I’m glad I did. I no longer hesitate when I’m faced with the prospect of doing something I dread. I know it may very well turn out to be one of my shining moments.
4. Why was the writer called a “brain”?
A. She was a bookworm all the time.
B. She was the head of her small group.
C. She did a good job in her studies.
D. She did more coursework for good grades.
5. What can we infer from the second paragraph?
A. She ruined her health because of studying hard.
B. She got the reward beyond expectation.
C. She was grateful for giving a speech.
D. She wasn’t good at physics at school.
6. How did the author feel at the beginning of the graduation speech?
A. Scared. B. Moved.
C. Excited. D. Embarrassed.
7. What did the speech bring to the author at last?
A. She had nothing to fear in life.
B. She got rid of her sense of shyness.
C. She won enough college credits.
D. She desired to become a speaker.

At a time when endless scrolling (刷屏) and constant notifications (通知) fill daily life, a group of college students at University of California is trying something refreshingly simple: putting their phones away and reconnecting with the real world. Students on campus have started hosting “no-phone parties,” gatherings where attendees leave their devices behind and focus instead on conversation, creativity, and real human relationship.
The events are organized by Project Reboot, a student-led movement focused on helping young people build healthier relationships with technology. The group is careful to point out that it is not anti-technology. Instead, its goal is to help students take back control of their attention and use technology with purposes rather than letting it control them. “Technology is neither good nor bad,” the organization explains. “While it has the power to addict and depress, it also has the potential to inform and inspire.”
According to a survey of UC Berkeley undergraduates, 78% of students said their phone use prevents them from “thinking deeply or being creative.” “It sucks (糟透了) that on a regular basis I am having to fight with my phone and I feel like I am losing control over my life,” student Dawson Kelly said. That feeling is shared among those students who attend the no-phone gatherings.
Without screens competing for attention, conversations become more meaningful and people feel more present with one another. Many students involved in the movement say they worry their generation is losing the ability to truly connect face-to-face. Through small but intentional habit changes, Project Reboot hopes students can strengthen qualities like carefulness and creativity while spending less time trapped in endless scrolling.
And the students behind the movement hope their idea spreads far beyond the Berkeley campus. In a world filled with distractions (分心的事物), they believe putting down a phone for a few hours might be one of the most powerful ways to reconnect with yourself and the people around you.
12. What is the main goal of Project Reboot according to Para. 2?
A. To ban technological devices. B. To prove technology is harmful.
C. To promote healthy digital use. D. To organize campus entertainment.
13. Why do students like Dawson feel bad?
A. They lack access to modern digital tools.
B. Their digital habits control their daily lives.
C. They fail to complete academic surveys.
D. Their screen time harms their physical health.
14. What is the no-phone movement intended to do?
A. To reduce the students’ face-to-face arguments.
B. To make students’ academic grades better.
C. To make traditional campus parties more popular.
D. To improve real face-to-face communication.
15. What is the main idea of the text?
A. Digital reduction ensures academic success.
B. Putting down phones makes people closer.
C. Smartphones improve young people’s creativity.
D. College students should refuse technology completely.
【答案】12. C 13. B 14. D 15. B

Being disliked is an unavoidable part of life. And as sociable creatures, we tend to seek acceptance. So finding out someone doesn’t like you can make you feel deeply unsettled. ____16____
Admit and confirm your own feelings.
It’s important to accept your feelings. “Realizing that fearing being disliked is normal — it’s just your natural response to the possibility of being left out — can help you feel less ashamed of it,” says Tina.
____17____
Often, the fear of being disliked comes from our own insecurities, like thinking we’re not good enough. Talking to a therapist can help you understand where these feelings come from and let them go. It also helps to challenge “all-or-nothing” thinking. Ask yourself: What’s the worst that could happen if someone doesn’t like me? Chances are, the fear is much bigger than the reality.
“Remember, others’ opinions are shaped by their own experiences and problems. It’s not always about you,” adds Tina.
Build your network.
“It also helps to take good care of yourself and find people who truly understand, accept, and love you,” says Ali. ____18____
Put yourself in others’ shoes.
Have you ever disliked someone just for small, unimportant reasons? If you have, you’ll find such dislike has nothing to do with their real value. ____19____
Focus on your own values.
Stick to your own values instead of others’ approval. When you stand by what you believe is right, you may be disliked by some people, but this just means you are being true to yourself.
Ultimately, overcoming the fear of being disliked starts with liking yourself. ____20____ With practice, you can embrace the freedom of being your real self.
A. Reshape your thinking.
B. Face your fear calmly.
C. The more people like you, the happier you will be in life.
D. Here are some tips on how to handle the fear of being disliked.
E. When you learn to value who you are, others’ opinions will no longer control your feelings.
F. Instead of worrying about being disliked, focus on building healthy relationships with others.
G. Similarly, if someone dislikes you, it’s often for small reasons — not because of who you are.

Growing up in a bustling (喧嚣的) city, I had always pictured rural life as quiet, dull and disconnected from the modern world. Buried in daily school routines, I rarely stepped out of the city and held a fixed idea of mountain villages in Yunnan. I imagined rough dirt roads, outdated facilities and limited chances for development, so I felt reluctant (勉强的) when my parents suggested spending summer break at my hometown village on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau.
The moment we drove into the mountainous countryside, my old opinions were completely overturned. Bathed in bright plateau sunshine, the village unfolded before my eyes with refreshing green hills and tidy paved paths. Neat courtyards lined the road, and soft wind carried the faint fragrance of wild mushrooms and local honey, typical treats of Yunnan’s highland.
My cousin once hunted for job opportunities in crowded cities. Eventually, he chose to return home, determined to bring local farm products back to life. He noticed that huge numbers of tourists from other provinces came this summer to escape heat waves, attracted by the cool mountain climate. Surrounded by lush mountains, the village produced fresh wild mushrooms and pure plateau honey, yet these delicious native specialties remained unknown to outside buyers due to poor exposure.
To seize this summer chance, he launched an online store and tried simple live-streaming and advertising sessions. Inspired by his passion, I volunteered to help. I took vivid photos of fresh mountain produce, sorted product details and replied patiently to online customers. Little by little, I witnessed how modern technology breathed new life into this peaceful Yunnan mountain village.

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】
As visitors who had seen our live-streaming came pouring in, our business took an unexpected turn. Most tourists were fascinated by the tasty wild mushrooms and sweet honey after tasting samples. Many shared our goods on social media and placed orders immediately. Our online shop received countless orders every day, far beyond our original expectations. My cousin and I were busy packing products every afternoon, filled with pride and joy. The quiet mountain village gradually gained wide popularity online. More and more people began to know about the high-quality local specialties hidden in the mountains.
After this unforgettable summer in the mountains, my old views about country life were completely rewritten. I truly witnessed how youth power and digital sales pushed rural revitalization forward. The countryside is no longer a backward place but a promising land full of chances. Inspired by my cousin, I made up my mind to equip myself with solid expertise, striving to inject vitality into rural construction and empower villagers to embrace a prosperous and bright future. I realized that modern technology can greatly change rural development. Even remote mountain villages can embrace new vitality with innovation and hard work.

The Prize in Economic Sciences was awarded to three American economists, Ben S. Bernanke, Douglas W. Diamond and Philip H. Dybvig “for research on banks and financial crises,” the Nobel Prize committee announced on Monday.

(1)续写词数应为150个左右;
(2)请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
