Zhang Xue excitedly waved the red flag. “I’ve been waiting for this moment for 20 years...We have won!” On March 28th, Chinese company ZXMOTO won the championship at the Portuguese round of the World Superbike Championship (WSBK) with an advantage of nearly four seconds, becoming the first Chinese manufacturer to win an international motorcycle event for medium and large models. This victory is a historic breakthrough (突破) and ended the 37-year monopoly (垄断) of European, American, and Japanese motorcycle brands in the WSBK race.
At the WSBK viewing carnival (嘉年华) on Chongqing’s Guangyang Island, Zhang Xue was moved to tears of joy. After winning the championship, he posted a video saying, “Sometimes, when you do something, you’re not aiming for the result but doing it out of love. Maybe the result will truly be different.”
It took Zhang Xue 20 years to reach this moment. In 1987, Zhang Xue was born in a small mountain village in Huaihua, Hunan. As a child, he loved motorcycles. After graduating from junior high school in 2003, he became an apprentice (学徒) at a motorcycle repair shop. At the age of 17, he opened his own repair shop. Over the following 20 years, his entire life revolved around motorcycles: he was a full-time racing driver, worked for a motorcycle company, fixed and sold motorcycles, and eventually started his own business to build motorcycles.
There was only one thing in his mind: motorcycles. He didn’t think about anything else. Many employees of ZXMOTO come from different industries, and some come to Chongqing from all over the country, mostly because of Zhang Xue. Netizens call him the “Lei Jun of the motorcycle circle” — a popular blogger with millions of fans in the motorcycle circle and a “motorcycle tycoon” who builds motorcycles.
4. What achievement did ZXMOTO make?
A. A first prize in small-model races. B. An end to 20 years of foreign control.
C. A full success in European rounds. D. A breakthrough for China in WSBK.
5. What did Zhang Xue express in his video?
A. Love may lead to success. B. Success may happen by chance.
C. Process matters over outcome. D. Hard work makes life meaningful.
6. What does the underlined phrase “revolved around” in paragraph 3 mean?
A. Worried about. B. Centered on. C. Prepared for. D. Began with.
7. Which of the following words can best describe Zhang Xue?
A. Talented and competitive. B. Patient and cheerful.
C. Strong-willed and focused. D. Creative and easy-going.

Have you ever wondered about the layout of supermarkets? Smart designers are behind it, attracting you to walk through each aisle and fill your shopping cart without even realizing it.
Grocery store design is a carefully crafted art from both psychological and marketing standpoints, according to Reeves Connelly, who studied architectural design at the Pratt Institute. He explained that there is a specific reason why fruit and vegetables are often located at the front of the store, “You’ll grab the fruits and vegetables first and then hopefully feel less guilty about buying junk food later on.” Meanwhile, essential items such as milk and eggs are placed at the back of the store to ensure customers walk through other aisles with many unhealthy choices like snacks and sodas, possibly increasing the likelihood of impulse purchases.
There’s also a reason why you often feel lost in local supermarkets. Shockingly, they move things around. Reeves explained, “They are very much aware that these strategies become less effective after you visit the store a few times and get a better sense of where everything is, so they’ll regularly move the products to different aisles to confuse you. The practice is not limited to a specific store but is used across various shops.”
“Their little tricks always work on me,” one regular shopper admits. “I walk in to get three things and end up spending $300; that’s why I hate grocery shopping,” he said. On the other hand, some shoppers are proud to declare they have never fallen into the trap. “That’s why I always keep a shopping list on me,” another shopper shared. “I’ve started having my groceries delivered. If I have to go to the store, I never grab a shopping cart. If I can’t carry it, I’m not buying it,” he added.
8. What is the purpose of the supermarket layout?
A. To show the designer’s wisdom. B. To save shoppers’ time.
C. To increase non-essential purchases. D. To provide many goods for choice.
9. What would the store owner probably do to make more profits?
A. Rearrange products in supermarkets regularly. B. Distribute junk food in different areas.
C. Place junk food before essential items. D. Put the healthy foods together.
10. What can be inferred from the last paragraph?
A. Most shoppers are trapped in marketing tricks.
B. Making lists can be a smart act for impulse buying.
C. Shopping baskets are better than heavy shopping carts.
D. Grocery delivery can help improve supermarket sales.
11. Where is this text most likely from?
A. A shopping guide. B. A psychology report.
C. A research paper. D. A business magazine.

Bus stops provide shelter for people waiting for the bus, but they can also be places for people to find information, socialize, and experience art. Now, cities around the world are discovering another use for bus stops: turning them into green havens for wildlife.
Adding green roofs to bus stops was once a small initiative in the Netherlands. Now, the environmentally friendly idea has spread throughout Europe, North America, and Asia.
The main elements of a green bus stop include a green roof that collects rainwater, improves air quality, and serves as an urban grassland for local insects. Besides this, greening bus stops can also include vertical (垂直) gardens along the walls and planting trees nearby to provide shade. Generally, a green roof needs several important parts. First, a strong structure to hold soil, water, and plants. Next, a root barrier prevents roots from damaging the structure. A drainage (排水) system collects rainwater and lets it flow out slowly. Lightweight soil helps plants grow and stores water without becoming too heavy. In the end, different plants are added to complete the green roof.
So, why are so many cities using green bus stops? Green roofs in general have been shown to reduce the urban heat island effect, and can lower the surrounding air temperature by 20 degrees. In the same way, green bus stops are beneficial to local wildlife. For instance, in Utrecht, green bus stops are designed to create a path for bees giving them a steady supply of food. Unsurprisingly, national surveys show that the bee population in the city is growing.
The spread of green bus stops shows that urban infrastructure (基础设施) can have many uses. They can also serve as homes and sources of food for bees, birds, and more, enriching the urban environment and making the city a kinder place for people, animals, and plants alike. Perhaps the concept of green bus stops could inspire future city designs.
12. What new function do bus stops have today?
A. Provide more art. B. Reduce bus noise. C. Replace old shelters. D. Support wildlife.
13. What is the author’s purpose in writing paragraph 3?
A. To list benefits of vertical gardens. B. To show the key parts of a green roof.
C. To give suggestions on growing plants. D. To stress the need for green bus stops.
14. What lessons do green bus stops bring to future city design?
A. Cities can join infrastructure with nature. B. Cities need more money on clean energy.
C. Cities should focus on lower temperatures. D. Cities should replace traditional bus stops.
15. What is the best title for the text?
A. Art and Green Are Not Enough B. Protecting Wildlife on Bus Stops
C. Green Bus Stops in Urban Life D. Methods to Build Green Roofs

Since the age of seven, I had always dreamed of being one of the student leaders who we looked up to. They took responsibility for us, gave instructions, organized school activities, and proudly wore their badges(徽章) while carrying our school flag and walking on the playground. They represented us and gave speeches on school issues, becoming our role models.
As I grew older, I finally can take part in the school elections. I prepared my election speech and on the day of the speeches, everyone voted. I was hopeful and prayed for a victory. However, the following morning when we gathered on the school grounds for the head-teacher’s announcement of the results, reality hit me hard. I realized that I had no chance of winning—was neither well known nor too pretty. I became depressed and felt as though I had no friends supporting me.
Later that day, as I cried in my room, I took a deep breath and decided to change my attitude. I refused to see myself as a failure and made a determination to run for the school elections again the following year—this time, with a plan to win. I sat down at my study table and wrote down my thoughts.
Although my competitors had certain advantages such as their stylish personalities, I recognized my own advantages—good grades, friendliness, helpfulness, and most importantly, my faith in myself to be a great leader. With a whole year ahead, I began to plan my election strategies that evening.
To gain recognition(认可) and show my ability to represent my fellow students, I started making new friends and helping them at school. Besides, I attended a public speaking course to learn how to give a great election speech. By the time the elections came around, I was well-prepared, and I gave a passionate speech on the stage.

【9题详解】
细节理解题。根据第三段“Reeves explained, “They are very much aware that these strategies become less effective after you visit the store a few times and get a better sense of where everything is, so they’ll regularly move the products to different aisles to confuse you. The practice is not limited to a specific store but is used across various shops.”(里夫斯解释道:“他们很清楚,一旦你去那家店逛了几次,熟悉了商品的摆放位置,这些策略的效果就会大打折扣。所以他们会经常把商品移到不同的货架上,以此来迷惑你。这种做法并非仅限于某一家店铺,而是被广泛应用于各类商店中。”)”可知,为了提高利润,店主可能会定期重新安排超市的产品布局。故选A。

【答案】One possible version:
The following day, I anxiously waited for the results. Would my effort pay off? Would I achieve my goal of becoming one of the student leaders? When the principal eventually announced that I had been elected with the second-highest number of votes, I couldn’t help but jump up with excitement. With a bright smile, I walked up to the stage to loud cheers from my fellow students. Their joy showed me that my victory was not just mine, but theirs as well.
Later, I realized that I had achieved far more than what I had expected. In addition to being appointed as one of the student leaders, I had made numerous friends along the way who now saw me as someone always willing to lend a helping hand. While pursuing my dream, I had become a source of inspiration and hope for other students. By being myself, I had shown them that success would be achievable for anyone if they stuck to their goals, worked hard and believed in themselves.
