第一节(满分15分)
Dear Tom,
How is everything going? Learning that you’re curious about my favorite sports, I’m writing to share with you.
Among various high school sports, playing basketball is my favorite. I usually play with my classmates on the school playground after class. There are two main reasons for my love for it. Firstly, it offers a great way to relieve academic stress and stay energetic. Secondly, passing and shooting together effectively builds strong teamwork and sharpens our communication skills.
What about your school sports? Looking forward to your reply.
Yours,
Li Hua
第二节(满分25分)
I looked at Lily, tears rolling down my cheeks. I finally spoke out what I had kept in my heart. “I felt like nobody when you were with them,” I said, my voice shaking. “You were my best friend, but I thought I had lost you.” Lily held my hand tightly. “You will never lose me,” she said, “I was silly of me to ignore you. Real friends don’t need to pretend.” We hugged each other, and all the pain and trouble went away in that warm hug.
From that day on, we decided to be true to each other. We joined the group project together and titled it “The Power of True Friendship.” We also made a deal: when something makes us sad, we talk instead of running away. Our friendship grew even stronger because we learned that trust and communication are the bridge that connects two hearts. A true friend is not the one who never hurts you, but the one who is brave enough to say sorry and willing to stay.

Text 1
W: Hi, Henry. It’s been a long time since we last met. What have you been up to?
M: I’ve been busy looking for a job. I tried to start my own business, but failed. After traveling for almost one month, I decided to start working.
Text 2
W: Are you close to your brother?
M: Yes. Although we work in different cities, we make a video chat every weekend.
W: That’s nice. I also get along with my brother.
Text 3
W: Why do you watch the movie again? Do you like it that much?
M: No. The teacher asked us to write a film review. I have to watch it several times.
Text 4
W: What’s wrong, sir?
M: I have a stomachache but I didn’t eat anything unusual.
W: OK. I’ll give you an examination.
Text 5
W: Hello, nice to meet you. I’m Lily. I’m an exchange student from France.
M: Hi, I’m Fred. I’m from America and have been here for 5 years. If you have any difficulty with German in your daily communication, you can always come to me.
Text 6
W: You seem to be busy with your chemistry homework.
M: In fact, I’m writing an English essay.
W: Oh! I’m very interested in writing. I’d like to be a writer one day.
M: Really? I thought I wanted to be a designer, but now I want to be a lawyer. English is necessary, but it’s really hard for me.
W: I can give you a hand with your study! Let’s meet at the café on Main Street after math class.
M: Great!
Text 7
W: How was your first day in the new school, Jerry?
M: I feel extremely great. My Chinese teacher and English teacher are both kind and knowledgeable. However, math seems a little difficult for me. But I like challenges.
W: That seems like a good start of your high school. If you have difficulties in math, you can ask your father for help. He is good at it. How about your classmates?
M: Well, my deskmate Henry is an easy-going person. In addition, I’m going to run for the monitor. Mom, can you listen to my speech after dinner?
W: Sure, honey. It’s time for you to walk little Teddy. I’m going to prepare dinner.
M: OK, Mom.
Text 8
W: Welcome to the Grand Hotel, sir. What can I do for you?
M: I’d like a single room tonight. It would be better if it has a beautiful night scene.
W: Let me check, please. Room 915, 1020 and 1025 are available.
M: I’d like a room on a higher floor, maybe 1020 or 1025.
W: No problem. Do you have any other requirements?
M: Yes. I prefer a quiet room so that I can have a better rest.
W: Then I recommend Room 1025. It’s far away from the lift.
M: That’s great.
W: How long will you stay, sir?
M: Three nights. I am going to leave on Sunday morning.
Text 9
W: Owen, I heard you just came back from a train trip.
M: Yes. I started in Moscow, traveled through Russia, Mongolia and ended up in China.
W: Wow! That’s a long way.
M: Yes. It took four weeks. I took the trip with three other people.
W: OK. What was the landscape like?
M: For miles around, we could see nothing. As we got into Siberia, there were some trees. When we entered Mongolia, we saw nothing but a few camels.
W: So how did you eat on the train?
M: The train stopped several times along the way, so we bought some food, mainly dried fish and some noodles.
W: Sounds a little boring. Well, did you take a lot of pictures along the way?
M: Of course. My partners made a video.
W: Would you have a train trip again?
M: Of course I would. It was a pleasant experience.
Text 10
Mabu is known as a “sky island”. It was “discovered” by Professor Julian Bayliss in 2004. In 2005, the first explorers proved that although locals had been hunting in the forest, it was in very good condition. And with an area of 75 square kilometers, Mabu was proved by the first exploration to be the largest rainforest in southern Africa.
In early explorations to Mabu, one of which I joined in 2009 while working as a journalist in southern Africa, Professor Julian Bayliss quickly found several new species of chameleon, snake and butterfly.
One of the first to find something new was Erica Tovela, a freshwater fish expert. In a small river, she caught a type of small catfish that she hadn’t seen before.
Not everyone on the exploration was looking for new species. Bird experts Claire Spottiswoode and Callan Cohen had a very special goal: to find proof that one of Africa’s special birds, the Namuli apalis, is still alive.

Edinburgh Castle, Scotland
Edinburgh Castle is one of the world’s most famous ancient castles. It stands on a dead volcano (火山) in the centre of Edinburgh. With over 900 years of history, it offers great city views and shows visitors Scotland’s royal (皇家的) past.

The Stone of Destiny: Scottish kings once used this stone for their coronations (登基). It was taken to England for hundreds of years and returned to Edinburgh in 1996. Now it lies beside the Crown Jewels as an important symbol of Scottish history.
One O’Clock Gun: The gun fires at 1 p. m. every day except Sundays. At first, it helped ships on the River Forth set their clocks. Its loud sound still surprises first-time visitors.
St. Margaret’s Church: Built in the 12th century, it is Edinburgh’s oldest building still standing. It was named after Queen Margaret, famous for her kindness. Even today, people hold weddings here.

While the world sleeps, Tom Turcich keeps moving. He began his journey five years ago and is still going. His goal is to walk across every continent (大洲) on Earth. Five years in, the question remains — how much further can he go?
Tom made the decision to travel after reading stories about adventurers who explored the world on foot. He had a strong wish to experience different cultures and nature alone. He spent the next few years finishing college and working hard to save money. In 2020, he finally left his job, packed a few things, and began walking from his home in New Jersey, USA.
He first walked through the USA and Central America, continuing down the west coast of South America. After that, he travelled to Antarctica and Europe by ship, and he is now walking across North Africa. From there, he plans to hike east through Asia and Australia. Finally, he will fly to the west coast of the USA and walk back towards his starting point in New Jersey.
Tom usually walks about 38 kilometres a day, burning around 5,000 calories. He has experienced many challenges, including crossing the big mountains, where he could manage only about 10 miles a day. When he first started, his legs ached badly at the end of each day. Now he is used to the exercise, though he still stretches (伸展) carefully every evening.
During the trip, Tom has had many special experiences. He is often surprised by the kindness of strangers, who welcome him into their homes. At first, few people believed him when he said he walked to South America, thinking he made a mistake while speaking Spanish. However, they finally accepted his story and were deeply impressed.
Tom keeps a blog where he records his travels and posts wonderful photographs. He had never been interested in photography before the journey, but now he loves it. He hopes that after returning home, he can work as a travel writer or photographer.

In Chandigarh, a city in northeast India, there is a wonderful garden. Tall rocks stand everywhere, with small paths between them. You can also see waterfalls, pools and hundreds of sculptures (雕塑). These sculptures are amazing because they are all made from waste, such as plastic-bottles, broken pots, and old electrical things.
The garden also has a surprising history. It was built in secret. A man named Nek Chand began to build it in 1957. He chose some land in a forest near the city. There were rocks and a river there. Nobody was allowed to build on that land, so Nek believed people would not find him. Then he started to collect rubbish and make sculptures from it.
Nek’s project was against the law, but for 18 years nobody discovered it. However, in 1975 some government officials found the garden. By then, it was nearly 49,000 square metres. The government wanted to destroy it, but when local people heard the news, they decided to protect it.
In 1976, the garden became a public park. After that, Nek Chand was paid to work there full time. Fifty more people came to help him. Visitors paid to enter the garden. Nek also set up collection centres around the town so that he could make more recycled (回收) sculptures.
Even then, the garden was not completely prudent. In 1990, the local government planned to build a road through the park. Local people protested (抗议), so the plan failed. Later, Nek became famous. He travelled to the USA to tell people about his garden. But when he returned, he found that part of the garden had been destroyed. It took a long time to rebuild it and keep it safe.
Today, a charity manages the garden. About five thousand visitors come there each day. Volunteers, workers and local children still work in the garden. They keep it clean and learn how to make sculptures.
28. What is special about the garden in Chandigarh?
A. It lies in a busy city centre.
B. It mainly shows natural attractions.
C. Its design is done by foreign artists.
D. Its artworks come from waste things.
29. Why did Nek Chand build the garden secretly at first?
A. He hoped to sell tickets quietly.
B. He was short of building materials.

A. Safe from trouble. B. Open to visitors.

A. To explain how to recycle waste.
B. To encourage people to protect forest.
C. To describe the life of a famous builder.
D. To introduce a park with an unusual past.

Running was once considered as a sport only for quiet people or fitness lovers. But over time, it has become one of the most popular sports in the world. This simple, low-cost exercise attracts millions of people every year as more and more people realize that running is the perfect easy way to stay active in busy modern life.
Races are one of the biggest reasons for the rapid rise in running. Nearly every major city now holds marathons, half-marathons and 5K fun runs every year. These events draw thousands of runners, who come not just to compete, but to enjoy the fun of running with others. Health food brands and sports product companies are happy to help these races, since they know runners are likely to support their products. The races also sell themed (主题的) T-shirts, colorful medals and gifts to both runners and audience members, making the events even more lively.
Running also does wonders for our mental (心理的) health. When we run, our bodies produce endorphins (内啡肽), which make us feel happier and less stressed. Many students and office workers say running helps them relax after a tiring school or work day, and it even helps them sleep better at night. A short run can clear your mind when you feel upset, and finishing a long, hard run always makes you feel more confident.
Social media has pushed running even further. Apps like Instagram and Facebook let runners share their stories, join online groups, and take part in challenges. In this way, running is not just about personal success. It becomes a way to help and cheer for people with the same interests around the world. Famous runners often share their love for running online, which helps more people join the sport.
As more people discover its physical and mental benefits, running will keep winning more people’s hearts in the future.
32. Why do companies support running races?
A. To popularize this sport. B. To call for more runners.
C. To advertise their products. D. To improve people’s health.
33. What good can students get from running according to the text?
A. Reducing their stress. B. Improving their grades.
C. Making their life colorful. D. Helping them work harder.
34. How does social media influence running?
A. It makes famous runners popular.
B. It makes running a costly activity.
C. It connects runners and spreads the sport.
D. It stops people from joining offline groups.
35. What is the best title for the text?
A. The History of Marathons B. The Endorphins in Our Bodies

Lily and I had been best friends since Grade One. We shared everything — secrets, snacks, and dreams. But when we entered senior high school, things began to change. Lily made new friends on the basketball team and started spending less time with me. I felt left behind, but I said nothing.
One afternoon, I overheard Lily telling her teammates, “Emma is nice, but she’s so quiet. Sometimes it’s boring hanging out with her.” My heart went down. I turned and walked away before she could see me. That night, I cried in my room, looking at the photo of us on my desk.
The next morning at school, Lily waved at me as usual, but I pretended not to see her and walked past. For the following days, I avoided her — no replies to her messages, no lunch together. Lily looked confused and hurt, but I didn’t care. I told myself I didn’t need a friend like her.
A week later, our class said there would be a group project. The teacher said, “Find a partner and give a talk about friendship.” I looked around, hoping to find someone. But everyone had already found a partner. Then I felt a tap on my shoulder. It was Lily. “Emma, can we talk?” she asked in a low voice.
We sat on the bench outside the classroom. Lily took a deep breath and said, “I know you heard what I said that day. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it. I was just trying to fit in with the team. But losing you is worse than anything.” Her eyes were red. I realized that I had also been wrong — I never told her how I felt, and I shut her out instead of talking.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
I looked at Lily, tears rolling down my cheeks.
From that day on, we decided to be true to each other.
