如 Passage 1 题 1 有“This time yesterday”作标志,填过去进行时;Passage 10 题 3 主语“It”为第三人称单数,用 has。 如 Passage 2 题 10 空前是“made laws”,用不定式 to prevent 表目的。 如 Passage 5 题 1 介词 with 后用宾格 us,Passage 1 题 10 用 by ourselves。 如 Passage 1 题 6 比较级并列“dirtier ___ dirtier”填 and,Passage 2 题 1 表地点用 in。 (7)固定搭配与句型(约 10 空,10%):take action / be proud of / try one’s best to do / It is + adj. + for sb. to do 等。如 Passage 9 题 6 由 act 转 action 构成 take action。 先想固定搭配(be aware of / lead to / provide sb. with sth.),再想句间逻辑(并列 and、转折 but、因果 so)。 二、结合本次特训题目的实战点拨 【点拨1】最高级看“one of the + 范围”——以 Passage 9 题 1 为例:原文写道“It is one of the 1 (large) cats on the earth.”,句中出现“one of the … 提醒:看到 one of the / the … in the world / of all 这类范围限定,先想最高级;同时别忘了后面的名词要用复数(cats)。 【点拨2】形容词转名词看“介词后”——以 Passage 4 题 3 为例:原文写道“They were in 3 (dangerous) because of losing their homes.”,介词 in 后面必须接名词,而括号给的是形容词 dangerous,需用其名词形式,故填 danger,构成固定搭配 in danger(处于危险中)。 【点拨3】形容词转副词看“修饰谁”——以 Passage 6 题 7 为例:原文写道“However, it’s 7 (usual) better not to feed foxes.”,空格修饰的是后面的比较级 better,修饰形容词要用副词,故填 usually。 【点拨4】介词后一律用动名词——以 Passage 4 题 10 为例:原文写道“I hope more and more people will join in 10 (protect) wild animals in the future.”,join in 中的 in 是介词,介词后接动词必须用动名词形式,故填 protecting。提醒:join in doing / be good at doing / be interested in doing / instead of doing 都是“介词+动名词”的常考搭配,见到介词就先想 -ing。 【点拨5】比较级看“than 与 even”——以 Passage 7 题 1 为例:原文写道“The next day, it looked even 1 (bad) than before.”,句中有 than 作比较标志,even 又只能修饰比较级,故填 worse。提醒:than / much / even / a lot / a little 都是比较级的“信号词”;同时要记住 bad 是不规则变化(bad—worse—worst)。 【点拨6】动词转形容词看“系动词后”——以 Passage 8 题 4 为例:原文写道“I felt 4 (help) and wanted to leave the classroom quickly.”,feel 是系动词,后面要接形容词作表语;括号给的是动词 help,需加 -less 构成形容词 helpless(无助的),故填 helpless。 【点拨7】可数名词看“数量与限定词”——以 Passage 2 题 4 为例:原文写道“For example, about 20% of red-crowned 4 (crane) live in Zhalong.”,句子说的是“20% 的丹顶鹤”,数量不止一只,且谓语动词 live 用复数形式,故填 cranes。 【点拨8】无提示词先想“并列结构”——以 Passage 1 题 6 为例:原文写道“The ocean is becoming dirtier 6 dirtier because of different human activities.”,空格前后是两个相同的比较级 dirtier,构成“比较级 + and + 比较级”表示“越来越……”,故填 and。 无提示词的空乱猜——先找固定搭配(be aware of / lead to / take action),再从逻辑关系入手。 Passage 1 This time yesterday I 1 (read) about the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. It is the 2 (large) reef system on earth. We can even see it from space! A coral reef is not 3 (simple) a group of colourful rocks. Corals are living things. Now many scientists are worried about coral reefs because they 4 facing serious problems. They say the biggest problem is ocean 5 (pollute). The ocean is becoming dirtier 6 dirtier because of different human activities. This causes corals 7 (die) slowly. Also, the ocean is getting warmer. It may not be a friendly environment for coral reefs. Scientists are working hard to find ways to save coral reefs. They also ask for 8 (use) tips from ordinary people. We should be aware 9 the serious problems and do something by 10 (we) to help. Passage 2 Zhalong Nature Reserve is 1 Heilongjiang Province in the north-east of China. It is one of the world’s 2 (important) wetlands. The area provides food and cover 3 a lot of wildlife. It is home to some rare birds. For example, about 20% of red-crowned 4 (crane) live in Zhalong. Many birds live in Zhalong all year round, while some go there only for a short stay. Most birds are 5 (act) in the day time, so you can 6 (easy) watch them there. Some people want 7 (make) the wetlands smaller in order to have more space for farms and buildings. This will lead 8 less space for wildlife. Moreover, if fishermen keep 9 (fish) there, the birds will not have enough food to eat. Now the Chinese government has made laws 10 (prevent) all these things in Zhalong. Passage 3 Have you ever heard of friendships among animals? At a zoo in Germany, an unusual friendship developed 1 a cat and a bear. One day, zookeepers observed 2 (care) and saw a black cat in the bear’s cage. The two were playing together peacefully. The bear keeper allowed the cat 3 (stay) with the bear. After several years, a new and much 4 (large) cage was built for the bear.   5 , the cat was left in the old cage. The cat found its new life lonely and 6 (bore). On that day,the cat was so worried that it had a 7 (sleep) night. So the next morning it walked around angrily and cried to be 8 its friend. The bear keeper took pity on it and finally reunited them. From that day on, the cat and the bear got even   9 (close). They were often seen sitting together and 10 (share) their meals in the sun. Passage 4 The giant panda is one of the most popular animals in the world. It is the 1 (nation) treasure of China. Giant pandas live mainly in Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu. They 2 (main) live on bamboo. In the past, there were not many pandas in the wild. They were in 3 (dangerous) because of losing their homes. In order to protect pandas, our government has set up many nature reserves. Scientists are trying their best 4 (help) pandas breed more babies and help young pandas live in the wild. Now the number of wild pandas is 5 (increase) little by little. Last year, the number of wild pandas in China 6 (reach) over 1,800. We are 7 (pride) of our country's achievements in panda protection. It 8 (show) that China is trying its best to protect wild animals. Protecting wild animals is protecting ourselves. It is 9 (importance) for us to protect the environment and wild animals. I hope more and more people will join in 10 (protect) wild animals in the future. Passage 5 Our lives would not be the same without bees (蜜蜂). Bees help plants grow. Many of these plants provide 1 (we) with food. What would happen 2 there were no bees? We can’t get our favorite fruit or vegetables. But now the number of bees gets much 3 (small) . Scientists worry that bees may die off. Then what can we do 4 (solve) this problem? One way is to make our gardens friendly to bees. A 5 (success) bee garden should have flowers from spring to fall so that bees have enough food. Many people believe that all bees live in hives (蜂巢). 6 fact, some bees dig into the ground. When you are working outside, leave loose dirt (松土) in lower beds and gardens. Some bees’ homes are in old pieces of wood while others’ are in holes or in trees. Gardens can provide 7 (place) like these for bees. Trees or walls that stop the wind are 8 good idea. A cool area in gardens 9 (keep) bees away from the hot sun. A bee-friendly garden 10 (true) helps to keep bees healthy and happy. But it needs everyone’s work to realize it. Passage 6 If you live in the cities in England, there will be a good chance that you will meet a fox in real life. Some animals need special habitats (栖息地) or food. But foxes can live in all kinds of amazingly different 1 (place) such as deserts, mountains and cities. A city like London can be really busy and 2 (noise), but it still has quiet corners where foxes can sleep. It also has fox food such 3 mice and food from people. Recently some people in 4 (city) have already seen foxes close at hand, but the foxes have never seemed scared. Why? They are so smart that they can even remember all the safe corners where they can escape. If a fox thinks it can run to its safe exit 5 (fast) than you can approach (接近), it will probably just sit down and wait. Foxes won’t waste energy running away unless it really 6 (become) necessary. However, it’s 7 (usual) better not to feed foxes. We can just enjoy 8 (watch) them. They are beautiful and 9 (interest) animals and lots of people enjoy them around. After all, seeing foxes 10 (be) a reminder of our connection with nature. Passage 7 One winter day, 8-year-old Lily noticed a little dog lying near her school gate. It had dirty fur and looked weak. The next day, it looked even 1 (bad) than before. Lily found the dog shivering (颤抖) under a tree, so she decided 2 (help) it by feeding it dog food and warm milk. When Lily came close to feed it, the dog didn’t run away. She carefully touched its head while the dog 3 (eat) the food... Just then, her classmate Tom walked by and asked, “Why are you helping it? 4 (home) dogs are dangerous!” Lily answered that the dog might be 5 (easy) hurt or even die if she didn’t offer help. That evening, after Lily told her parents about 6 dog, they helped her take it to an animal doctor. After it got better, her mom suggested 7 (take) it to the animal center because the dog couldn’t look after 8 (it). There were many kind people in the center, 9 (include) many volunteers who could take good care of the dog. A month later, the volunteers helped the dog find a new family. How happy Lily felt! She showed that even small acts from 10 (human) can make the world a warmer, better place for every living thing. Passage 8 Are you nervous when you stand in front of the public? Are you afraid of making a speech? Li Jun, a middle school boy, felt shy when he was making a speech the other day. 1 first, Li thought it quite easy because he had already practiced at 2 (little) five times. “I was totally wrong. It was very different and much 3 (hard) than talking to my classmates during playtime.” Li said. “I felt 4 (help) and wanted to leave the classroom quickly.” Li is not alone. Many middle school students now have the same problem: they can talk about their ideas freely with their best friends after class, 5 they can’t speak in public. According to Zhou Hong, 6 teacher from a university, the main reason is that schools in China pay more attention to 7 (write) instead of speaking. Zhou hopes schools can give students more chances to open their mouths, such as speech competitions, English corners and class discussions. He also offers some 8 (suggest) to students. “During your free time, you should practice more. When you’re speaking in public, take it easy. Just imagine you’re talking to nobody and speak up your ideas 9 (clear), which helps you to be at the 10 (high) of your powers.” Zhou said. “That makes a fine public speech and you will be happy.” Passage 9 Wild animals are important to the balance of nature, but many of them are facing serious problems. The Siberian tiger is one of the most endangered animals in the world. It is one of the 1 (large) cats on the earth. It has thick fur to keep warm in cold winters. In the past, there were many Siberian tigers in the wild. However, the number of them 2 (drop) quickly in recent years. There are natural reasons like 3 (ill) and natural disasters, but human activities are the biggest reason. One of the reasons is 4 (main) that people cut down too many forests, so the tigers have no space to live. Another reason is that some people kill them for 5 (they) fur and bones, which are thought to have special medical value. Luckily, people have taken 6 (act). Many nature reserves have been built. In these reserves, tigers can live happily and safely. The government has also made strict laws 7 (stop) people from hunting them. Besides, many volunteers are working hard to tell people about the importance of protecting wild animals. They hope more people will join them in this work. With our 8 (effort), we can make a difference to the protection of Siberian tigers. It is believed that the number of Siberian tigers 9 (increase) in the future. We must remember that 10 (protect) wild animals is protecting ourselves. Passage 10 Nature is amazing! Take a close look at the world of insects, and you’ll discover many unbelievable things. Consider butterflies, for example. Their wings are 1 (colour) and they have fantastic flying skills. But do you know how butterflies become flying insects? In the 2 (begin), a mother butterfly lays a small egg on a leaf of a plant. It’s surprising that the egg will become something completely different in a few days. It becomes a walking insect. This insect is called a “caterpillar”. It now 3 (have) legs, eyes and a large body. The caterpillar can eat, walk and see. But 4 (lucky), it is still not a butterfly. After growing big, the caterpillar covers 5 (it) in a nice protective blanket. This stage is known as the “pupa stage”. Some 6 (science) say this is the most magical part of the butterfly’s life. After some time, the blanket breaks and a wet weak butterfly appears. Shortly, the wings fill with blood, and the beautiful butterfly spreads 7 (it) wings and flies away. It flies higher and higher to enjoy the blue sky. This adult butterfly lays her eggs in a few weeks, and the cycle begins all over again. A Chinese phrase “po jian cheng die” can describe the butterfly’s development best. This is just one example of the wonders of nature. Look around the natural world, and you will learn 8 (many) amazing things. Butterflies not only have beautiful looks, but also play an important role in nature. They carry pollen from one flower to another, and this helps plants keep 9 (health). Every year, millions of butterflies travel long distances 10 (find) warm places for the winter.
