Recently, a new lifestyle trend (趋势) called “Chinamaxxing” has become popular on foreign social media. The word puts “China” and “maxxing (最大值)” together. It means foreigners are trying to improve their daily life by following healthy and gentle Chinese living habits. More and more foreign young people are falling in love with this traditional Chinese lifestyle.

In western countries, young people usually drink iced water and cold coffee in daily life. They hardly believe drinking hot water is a good habit. However, everything has changed because of this new trend. Many foreign teenagers start to give up cold drinks and choose hot water instead.

This special trend was first shared by a Chinese-American online blogger (博主). She posted simple and healthy Chinese wellness habits on social media. She taught foreign users easy ways to keep healthy in the traditional Chinese style. Soon, these videos got millions of views and won great popularity abroad.

Nowadays, foreign young people are trying more Chinese healthy habits in their free time. They practice Tai Chi and Baduanjin in the morning to relax their bodies. Many of them learn moxibustion (艾灸) to warm their bodies on cold days. Some even try drinking boiled apple water, another popular healthy drink in China. Besides healthy lifestyles, they also love simple Chinese traditional clothes.

Foreigners explain that these Chinese habits make them feel more relaxed and comfortable. Modern life is fast and stressful, but Chinese traditional lifestyles help them slow down and keep in good health. In fact, “Chinamaxxing” is more than a simple online trend. It shows the great wisdom of Chinese traditional culture. It also tells us that healthy lifestyles and excellent traditional culture can always win people’s love all over the world.

On July 23, Wang Hong and Deng Yu, two Chinese mathematicians, won the Fields Medal. Known as the “Nobel Prize in math”, this prize is given every four years to at most four top mathematicians under 40. It is the first time Chinese people have received this great honor.

Wang Hong was born in Guilin in 1991. She fell in love with math because of an interesting math problem. She liked learning new knowledge by herself. In 2007, she entered Peking University but failed to get into the math major (专业). Luckily, she changed her major to math after hard work. However, college math was really hard for her, and she once doubted herself. She kept moving forward through those difficult days. Now she is a professor at a university.page number 2
