Passage1
(2025·四川眉山·中考真题)There is no doubt that the world will be a very different place in 2045. So what’s going to happen then? It’s pretty likely that robots and AI technology will change a lot of industries. Also, self-driving and flying cars will come into our daily life, bringing us much convenience.
However, scientists have even bigger ideas. In a video series called Forward to the Future, three researchers predicted what they imagined would be reality in 2045.
Dr. Justin Sanchez believes we’ll be at a point where we can control things simply by using our mind. “Imagine a world where you could just use your thoughts to control your environment,” Justin said. According to him, experts are working on certain technologies that can make this happen. They’ve made some progress already.
The future has more than just that. Many other exciting things could change the building and other objects around us, says Stefanie Tompkins. “We’ll be able to build things that are very strong but also lightweight (轻量型的). We don’t even know the materials around us,” she predicted.
Pam Melroy believes we’re going to find that we have a very different relationship with the machines around us. “I think we’ll begin to see a time when we’re able to control a machine just by pressing a button (按钮) or only saying some simple words,” she said. For example, right now to land a plane safely, a pilot has to go through many steps in the right order. But in 2045, in Pam’s words, a pilot may just need to say the words “prepare for landing”. Then the computer knows the steps it needs to take. Or perhaps, with AI, a pilot won’t even be necessary.

Passage 4
A Trip to the Future City
Last weekend, my family visited the “Future City” exhibition at the Science Museum. It showed what cities might look like in 2080. I was amazed by everything I saw.
The first thing I noticed was the transportation system. All cars were self-driving and powered by solar energy. They didn’t make any noise! There were no traffic jams because computers controlled all the traffic. People could also travel in small flying machines called “air taxis”. They flew above the city and landed on the roofs of buildings.
The buildings were very tall and covered with green plants. These “vertical gardens” not only looked beautiful but also cleaned the air. Solar panels covered every roof and even the windows. The buildings produced more energy than they used.
I was most interested in the smart home system. When you walked into the room, the lights would turn on automatically. The walls could change colors according to your mood. A robot assistant could cook meals, clean the house, and even have conversations with you. The refrigerator could order food online when it was running low. Everything was connected to the internet.
There was also a medical room where a machine could check your health in just one minute. It could test your blood, check your heart, and even predict what illnesses you might get in the future. The machine would then give you advice on how to stay healthy.
The exhibition gave me a lot of hope for the future. However, I also felt a little worried. What if we depend too much on technology? What if machines become smarter than humans? The guide told us that humans should always stay in control. Technology should serve us, not the other way around.
Task 1: Answer the following questions based on the passage.
1.Did the writer visit the exhibition alone or with family?
2.What powered all the cars in the future city?
3.When did the writer visit the Future City exhibition?
48.Where did the air taxis land?
5.Why did the writer feel a little worried?
Task 2: Write down your own understanding. (About 20 words)
6.Do you think smart homes are a good invention? Why or why not? Please share your opinion.

【答案】1.With family. 2.Solar energy. 3.Last weekend. 4.On the roofs of buildings. 5.Because we might depend too much on technology and machines might become smarter than humans. 6.Yes. Because they let you control lights and air conditioners remotely, saving energy and bringing huge convenience to busy daily life.
