In a crowded gallery in the 1940s, a student of traditional Chinese painting, Duan Wenjie, gazed at the vivid Mogao murals (壁画) and felt an immediate urge to visit Dunhuang. “I was like a hungry ox breaking into a vegetable garden,” he recalled, “and enjoying a spiritual feast.” From that moment on, thoughts of the murals filled Duan’s mind. His initial idea of a brief visit had transformed into a lifelong mission.
Duan’s work began in the caves, where he painted copies of the murals. Due to the severe damage done to some of the murals, this was at times an almost impossible task. Determined, Duan labored through hundreds of reference sources, making numerous notes on how to best reproduce the all-but-invisible images. Sometimes, years of painstaking work yielded only one single copy. Starting in 1946, he copied nearly 400 ancient murals mostly by himself, covering an area of about 150 square metres.
Despite such remarkable achievements in restoration work, the situation was far less encouraging when it came to academic research. For a long time, Dunhuang studies were largely carried out in other countries, such as Japan, France and Russia. This was the direct consequence of a tragic history. Starting in the early 1900s, foreign explorers smuggled (走私) thousands of ancient manuscripts and relics (遗物) out of the Mogao Grottoes. As a result, those irreplaceable materials became scattered across the globe. Renowned Chinese historian Chen Yinque once referred to Dunhuang studies as an example of “our sad academic history”.
In 1982, Duan Wenjie became Dunhuang Academy’s second director and spared no effort to change this situation. Dunhuang studies quickly expanded in range, and Duan led his colleagues in publishing Dunhuang Research, the first Chinese academic journal of Dunhuang studies. “Dunhuang is the whole of my life,” he once said. Thanks to his decades of sustained efforts, the Mogao Grottoes were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1987.
24. What inspired Duan Wenjie to go to Dunhuang?
A. An academic conference on cave art.
B. A spiritual feast in a vegetable garden.
C. His desire for a lifelong mission in Dunhuang.
D. His strong fascination with a mural exhibition.
25. How did Duan address the challenge of copying the murals?
A. By restoring the damaged images.
B. By working with mural researchers.
C. By consulting extensive materials carefully.
D. By producing several copies of the same mural.
26. Why did Chen see Dunhuang studies as a case of “our sad academic history”?
A. Overseas studies caused thefts. B. The murals were gradually damaged.
C. Chinese scholars showed little interest. D. Historical losses led to foreign dominance.
27. Which of the following best describes Duan Wenjie?
A. Thorough and devoted. B. Independent and ambitious.
C. Creative and practical. D. Curious and adventurous.

China’s top economic planner and energy regulator have rolled out a new development plan for 2026-2030, calling for greater application of artificial intelligence and robots in high-risk underground coal mining. The move signals a nationwide push to transform dangerous mines through smart technologies.
The plan, issued by the National Development and Reform Commission and the National Energy Administration, highlights coal’s foundational and balancing role in China’s energy system. It calls for expanding the “AI Plus” initiative across key stages including exploration, construction, operation, and safety management. The plan also urges developing specialized large-language models for the coal industry, with breakthroughs needed in intelligent understanding and autonomous decision-making.
A number of pilot (试点的) mines will be established for AI application. Mines that are likely to suffer disasters or have experienced major accidents will receive priority, with robot replacement promoted at dangerous posts. Early trials are already taking shape. In May, Hangzhou-based DEEP Robotics, together with the Zhejiang Provincial Emergency Management Department, conducted a rescue drill in a mine tunnel in Changshan, Zhejiang. Its Lynx M20 robot, which integrates large-language models and an onboard system with cameras, 5G, and real-time processors, served as the mobile platform. Meanwhile, Lingbao CASBOT has formed a joint venture focusing on robots for drilling, blasting, and support installation. Though still small in scale, these pilot projects are expected to expand into large-scale deployment, with high-risk tasks like tunneling, inspection, rescue, roof support and blasting as priority areas for robot replacement.
Lin Boqiang of Xiamen University told the Global Times, “AI-powered equipment can greatly improve disaster warning and emergency response, helping mines move toward ‘less-manned’ and even ‘unmanned’ operations and reducing human workers’ exposure to danger.” Market research firm Zhiyan Consulting estimated the mining robot market reached 2.85 billion yuan in 2025.
28. What is the main purpose of the new development plan?
A. To lower safety risks in coal mining.
B. To transform the entire energy system.
C. To achieve unmanned mining operations.
D. To call for new breakthroughs in AI technology.
29. What is included in the new plan for the coal industry?
A. Stopping production in the most dangerous mines.
B. Expanding AI use in key stages of coal production.
C. Developing safety monitoring systems for coal mines.
D. Establishing pilot mines to test robotic rescue systems.
30. What does the underlined word “deployment” in Paragraph 3 mean?
A. Investment. B. Achievement.
C. Application. D. Promotion.
31. What does Lin Boqiang think about the use of robots in coal mines?
A. He doubts if the technology is mature enough.
B. He worries that the cost is too high for wide use.
C. He believes they can greatly improve mine safety.
D. He thinks they will replace workers in the near future.

A popular musician posts a music video or an athlete shares a workout, and suddenly they seem like part of our lives. People like and share these posts, and over time, admiration can start to feel like friendship — people like to think they know celebrities. Psychology Today defines this phenomenon as a parasocial relationship (准社会关系) — a one-sided connection that exists only in the fan’s mind. First identified in 1956 to describe television viewers feeling closely connected to on-screen figures, this behavior has existed for ages.
Today, social platforms deepen this illusion by offering constant, seemingly real updates on the lives of public figures. However, what audiences actually see is a carefully selected version of reality, edited for perfection rather than truth. Despite this created closeness, young people frequently view celebrities as standards for success. This influence often unconsciously shapes everything from their self-image to their long-term career goals.
These relationships are not always harmful. For some, especially those who feel left out in society, seeing public figures with similar backgrounds can offer a sense of belonging. These connections can inspire confidence and make people feel less alone. In that sense, they can serve a real and meaningful purpose, offering comfort.
The danger arises when the line between admiration and imagination disappears. The relationship becomes unhealthy when fans act as if they truly know a celebrity. They might take planned posts as personal messages and develop unrealistic expectations. Furthermore, these feelings now extend to artificial intelligence (AI). Chatbots acting like real friends can produce deep emotional responses, making it harder to tell real human connection from AI.
Admiration itself is fine. Music, sports and entertainment have long connected communities, but that influence needs clear boundaries. Without them, simply watching a video is easily mistaken for close friendship, and carefully chosen content is mistaken for true connection. Parasocial relationships should remain what they are: distant and one-sided. In a digital age where everything is designed to feel personal, we must remember that it is not.
32. Why did the author mention the musician and the athlete in the first paragraph?
A. To reveal the market value of stars’ posts.
B. To criticize celebrities’ too-much-sharing.
C. To show an imagined familiarity with stars.
D. To illustrate progressive fan-star connection.
33. How do digital bonds built on celebrity posts affect the youth?
A. They shape youths’ personal values. B. They make the youth perfectionists.
C. They ease beauty standards for youths. D. They develop the youth’s social skills.
34. Which of the following is an example of the “danger” in paragraph 4?
A. Flooding friends’ chats with celebrity updates.
B. Using AI chatbots to solve academic challenges.
C. Taking idols’ livestream as private video calls.
D. Tracking a star’s posts to monitor their traces.
35. What may be the best title for the text?
A. Music and Sports: The Uniting Strength B. Posts and Responses: The Healing Circle
C. Blessing or Disaster: The Booming Internet D. Stardom or Friendship: The Mistaken Closeness

Staying physically active in hot weather can be challenging. With this summer’s heat intensified by a powerful El Niño, outdoor workouts and even daily routines like commuting on foot become more physically demanding and less comfortable. ____36____ Yet this seemingly practical response may trigger hidden long-term health risks. Then how to stay active safely amid heatwaves? Here are evidence-based strategies from researchers.
____37____ The most practical method is to arrange exercise during cooler periods, such as early mornings or evenings. Avoid mid-day hours when sunlight is the sharpest and heat stress reaches its peak. Besides, choosing shaded areas instead of open sunlit spaces can lower the surrounding temperature significantly. Parks with thick tree cover are much more desirable than bare open grounds for outdoor physical activity.
Equally important is adjusting exercise duration and intensity on hot days. Sticking to your usual exercise routine in high heat will bring extra physical burden and thermal strain. ____38____ Or you can do light indoor exercise, or add more frequent breaks in cool, shaded spots with cold water available.
Moreover, let your body adapt. Gradually increasing your exercise volume in hot conditions enables your body to get adjusted to high temperatures, a process known as heat adaptation. Typically, 7 to 14 days of regular hot-weather exercise will produce a series of positive physiological changes. However, this adaptation is short-lived. ____39____
____40____ As heatwaves grow more frequent, people need to adjust not only whether they exercise but also when, where and how they work out.
A. It is wiser to take shorter exercise sessions.
B. Many people turn to indoor sports on hot summer days.
C. Extra training can speed up the formation of heat adaptation.
D. Timing and environment choices matter greatly for hot-weather exercise.
E. Faced with extreme heat, many people choose to reduce physical activity.
F. Without regular heat exposure, those hard-won benefits will fade away gradually.
G. Experts stress climate change should be considered when planning physical activity.

“Today’s the day! Dad.” Ethan burst out as he poured cereal (麦片) into a bowl, unable to contain his excitement. “I hope I don’t let Coach Schultz and the kids in the team down.” It was finally the inter-school match, and Ethan was going to be pitching (投球) for the first time in a real match. “Oh, you’ll do fine,” Dad comforted, “You’ve spent months running, pitching, and working on your mobility.”
“Do you have time to feed the goats before you leave?” Dad asked. “Sure. I have fifteen minutes before Coach Schultz pick me up.” Ethan replied. “Sorry I have to leave before you.” Dad grabbed his car keys.
Ethan wolfed down his cereal and headed out to the barn (畜棚). As he fed the goats, he tried to remember all the pitching tips Coach Schultz had given him. Then he spotted their young goat Zeke opening the gate! Ethan dashed over to stop him from escaping. It was too late.
Knowing he couldn’t leave with Zeke on the loose, Ethan quickly figured out he’d need a bucket of cracked corn to attract the goat and a rope to catch him and lead him back. By that time, Zeke had disappeared into the trees in the far corner.
A car rolled in and stopped. “Ready?” Coach Schultz asked. “I — I can’t go right now. I have to get our goat back into his barn,” Ethan yelled. “Can I help?” he asked. “You don’t have time. Warm-up starts soon.” Ethan replied. “Don’t worry — I’ll come back and help you after I get the kids settled!” Coach Schultz shouted over the engine. Ethan fought to swallow the tightness in his throat as he went to get the corn and the rope.
Corn bucket in one hand and rope over his shoulder, Ethan ran toward the trees. But Zeke saw him and rushed off, getting farther and farther away. Exhausted from the run-around, Ethan collapsed down on the ground to catch his breath. He knew the team would be starting their warm-up by now. How he wished he could be there!

A 29. B 30. C 31. C

D
C 33. A 34. C 35. D
根据第一段“A popular musician posts a music video or an athlete shares a workout, and suddenly they seem like part of our lives. People like and share these posts, and over time, admiration can start to feel like friendship — people like to think they know celebrities. (一位受欢迎的音乐家发布音乐视频或运动员分享健身日常,突然间他们似乎成了我们生活的一部分。人们喜欢并分享这些帖子,随着时间的推移,崇拜开始感觉像友谊——人们喜欢认为他们了解名人。)”可知,作者提到音乐家和运动员是为了展示人们与名人之间一种想象出来的熟悉感。
【33题详解】
细节理解题。根据第二段“Despite this created closeness, young people frequently view celebrities as standards for success. This influence often unconsciously shapes everything from their self-image to their long-term career goals. (尽管这种被刻意营造出来的亲近感,年轻人经常将名人视为成功的标准。这种影响常常在不知不觉中塑造了一切,从他们的自我形象到他们的长期职业目标。)”可知,建立在名人帖子上的数字纽带塑造了年轻人的个人价值观。
【34题详解】
推理判断题。根据第四段“The danger arises when the line between admiration and imagination disappears. The relationship becomes unhealthy when fans act as if they truly know a celebrity. They might take planned posts as personal messages and develop unrealistic expectations. (当崇拜和想象之间的界限消失时,危险就出现了。当粉丝表现得好像他们真的了解名人时,这种关系就变得不健康了。他们可能会把计划好的帖子当作私人信息,并产生不切实际的期望。)”可知,“将偶像的直播当作私人视频通话”正是将计划好的内容误认为私人信息、产生不切实际期望的危险例子。
【35题详解】
主旨大意题。根据全文内容,尤其是第一段“People like and share these posts, and over time, admiration can start to feel like friendship — people like to think they know celebrities. (人们喜欢并分享这些帖子,随着时间的推移,崇拜开始感觉像是友谊——人们喜欢认为自己了解名人。)”以及最后一段“Parasocial relationships should remain what they are: distant and one-sided. In a digital age where everything is designed to feel personal, we must remember that it is not.
E 37. D 38. A 39. F 40. G
根据上文“With this summer’s heat intensified by a powerful El Niño, outdoor workouts and even daily routines like commuting on foot become more physically demanding and less comfortable.(受强厄尔尼诺现象影响,今年夏天的高温进一步加剧,户外锻炼乃至步行通勤这类日常活动都变得更耗体力、体验感也更差。)”
根据下文“The most practical method is to arrange exercise during cooler periods, such as early mornings or evenings. Avoid mid-day hours when sunlight is the sharpest and heat stress reaches its peak. Besides, choosing shaded areas instead of open sunlit spaces can lower the surrounding temperature significantly. Parks with thick tree cover are much more desirable than bare open grounds for outdoor physical activity.(最实用的方法是把锻炼安排在气温更低的时段,比如清晨或傍晚,避开日照最强烈、热压力达到峰值的正午时段。除此之外,选择阴凉区域而非开阔的向阳场地,能显著降低周边环境温度。相比空旷的露天场地,植被茂密的公园是户外身体活动的更优选择。)”可知,下文分别介绍了选择清晨/傍晚等凉爽时段运动、避开正午高温,以及选择树荫公园而非露天场地的具体方法。D项“高温天气运动时,时机和环境选择至关重要”作为本段主旨句,精准概括了下文“选时段+选场地”两大核心建议,总领全段内容。
【38题详解】
根据上文“Sticking to your usual exercise routine in high heat will bring extra physical burden and thermal strain.(在高温环境下坚持原有的锻炼习惯,会给身体带来额外负担和热应激。)”和下文“Or you can do light indoor exercise, or add more frequent breaks in cool, shaded spots with cold water available.(你也可以进行轻度的室内运动,或是在有冷水补给的阴凉凉爽区域增加更频繁的休息次数。)”
根据上文“Typically, 7 to 14 days of regular hot-weather exercise will produce a series of positive physiological changes. However, this adaptation is short-lived.(通常,坚持7到14天规律的高温环境锻炼,身体就会产生一系列积极的生理变化。然而,这种热适应是短暂的。)”可知,上文提到7-14天的规律高温锻炼能让身体产生积极生理变化,形成热适应,但这种适应是短暂的。F项“没有规律的高温暴露,这些来之不易的适应益处会逐渐消退”直接对应上文“热适应短暂”的转折逻辑,补充说明热适应的维持条件。
【40题详解】
根据下文“As heatwaves grow more frequent, people need to adjust not only whether they exercise but also when, where and how they work out.(随着热浪愈发频繁,人们不仅要调整是否锻炼的选择,还要调整锻炼的时间、地点和方式。)”

________ features numerous cultural treasures是关系词引导的非限制性定语从句,修饰先行词the exhibition “Light of the Sun: A Dialogue Between Ancient Shu and Inca Civilizations”;关系词表示事物,所填关系词在该从句中作主语,要用关系代词which。
本句中,介词短语On display置于句首构成全部倒装结构,真正的主语是复数名词copies and 3D-printed versions of objects from China’s ancient Shu kingdom,be动词要用are。
句中有谓语动词share,提示词make是动词,其前无并列连词,要变为非谓语动词;________ (make) the exhibition a powerful vehicle for cultural exchange作结果状语,和主语Both cultures是逻辑上的主谓关系,要将make变为现在分词making,表示主动含义。
with thousands of visitors eager ______ (see) relics like the Terracotta Warriors是with引导的复合结构作伴随状语,形容词eager要接动词不定式构成固定结构eager to do sth.,作thousands of visitors的宾语补足语,要将see变为动词不定式to see。
cultural interaction plays是省略关系词that/which的定语从句,修饰先行词the vital role;play+修饰语+role in doing sth.是固定结构,此时the vital role作为先行词置于定语从句之前,所填词后接了动名词短语bridging distant civilizations and strengthening ties,和该结构相吻合,要填介词in。

Students will recite classic English poems by Frost and Shakespeare, and some of us will read Chinese classics like Li Bai’s Quiet Night Thoughts in English translation. 67.

One possible version
Just then, a minibus stopped before Ethan. Out of the minibus jumped Coach Schultz and the kids from the team. Ethan stared in shock, and then his face lit up — he hadn’t expected them to come. Coach Schultz dashed towards Ethan, knelt down and declared, “The whole team’s heard about your situation. They can’t wait to lend a hand. A team helps each other, right?” The kids split up: some shook corn buckets to attract Zeke, others blocked the woods. Soon, Zeke bounced over, and ultimately Ethan tied the rope tightly, relieved.
“Thanks, but sorry this took so much of our warm-up time,” Ethan said guiltily. Patting him on the shoulder, the coach burst into laughter and uttered, “Chasing the goat is definitely a perfect way to warm-up — it has really fired everyone up! Besides, it is responsibility and cooperation that make a remarkable team.” The team cheered, applauding for themselves and hurried to the minibus with Zeke safely led back. As the bus drove off, Ethan smiled proudly and confidently. An unshakable inner voice told him that with this team, he could handle anything, even his very first pitch.
