When I was a high school student, I was faced with the world with the innocence (天真). I had always been attracted by the idea of learning a new language, but I had never truly understood the challenges involved. That was until one day, when I decided to take the risk and learn Spanish.
It all started when I visited my cousin in Spain, Watching her continuously communicate with locals in their native language, I was filled with envy Although I can speak English and a little French, I was still missing an important tool: a deep understanding of another major language.
So, I did what any determined teenager would do; I start to learn Spanish. I downloaded language-learning apps, bought textbooks, and even signed up for private classes. Actually, it was not easy. The grammar rules were different, the vocabulary unfamiliar, and the pronunciation challenging.
But I refused to give up. I spent hours listening to Spanish music and watching Spanish language movies. I role-played with my teacher, speaking aloud and making mistakes. These learning experiences sharpened my Spanish skills. Gradually, the language started to feel more natural. Months passed, and my hard work began to pay off. My Spanish improved, and I felt confident enough to try speaking it in real-life situations. The first time I ordered a meal in Spanish in a restaurant, I felt like an explorer conquering a new land.
Now, when I look back on that version of myself, I can’t help but feel proud, It might have taken months of hard work and late-night study sessions, but in the end, the journey was more than worth it. It has given me a deeper understanding of myself and the world around me.

When faced with the decision to get out of bed or have a few more minutes of sleep, which do you choose? Believe it or not, that decision could make a world of difference in the rest of your day.
About 85 percent of Americans use an alarm clock to wake up in the mornings, according to sleep researcher Till Roennenber. And while there are no official numbers on snoozing (打盹), a quick survey of social media makes it clear that hitting the snooze button is a popular choice for many people.
As to how the snooze button will affect your day, scientists have mixed opinions. Some scientists think people who hit the snooze button in the mornings are actually clever, creative and happy while some said that hitting the snooze button will ruin your life, or at least your day. “I feel that hitting the snooze button has got to be one of the worst things that ever happened to human sleep,” researcher Jonathan Horowitz said. “The chances of you ‘snoozing’ and actually experiencing a meaningful rest are close to zero.”
According to some sleep experts, when hitting the snooze button, you are in fact confusing your body and mind, and throwing yourself into a deep state of being sleepy. The body needs some time to wake up, so, when returning to what will be a light sleep for a brief period of time, you are putting your body back into a sleep mode before waking it again. At that point your body won’t know what it wants, resulting in a sort of half awaken state.
If you really want to take advantage of an alarm clock, the key is to form a healthy sleep cycle. Focus your efforts on getting enough sleep each night and waking up at the same time each day so that when your alarm goes off you feel rested.
46. What can we infer about hitting the snooze button from the first two paragraphs?
A. People do it just for fun. B. It is a common practice.

A. It brings people a meaningful rest.
B. It turns people into lazier ones.
C. It helps people adapt to a new day.
D. It affects people to some extent.
49. What is the author’s suggestion according to the last paragraph?
A. Forming a good sleep habit. B. Waking up a bit earlier.

根据下文“throwing yourself into a deep state of being sleepy. The body needs some time to wake up, so, when returning to what will be a light sleep for a brief period of time, you are putting your body back into a sleep mode before waking it again. At that point your body won’t know what it wants, resulting in a sort of half awaken state.(让自己陷入深深的困倦状态。身体需要一些时间醒来,所以,当你回到短暂的浅睡眠状态时,在再次唤醒它之前,你是在让你的身体回到睡眠模式。这时,你的身体就不知道自己想要什么了,导致一种半觉醒的状态。)”可知,当按下小睡按钮,你实际上是在欺骗的身体和思维,让身体再次回到睡眠状态,导致处于一种半睡半醒状态。因此推断划线词意为“欺骗”与A项“cheating”意思相近。故选A项。

The world is becoming less livable because of climate change and the loss of nature. What do you think would help you and your friends change your lifestyles and do something to make a healthier planet? How can we empower young people to help protect the Earth?
Education might help. For years, experts have developed environmental education programs with the goal of helping people understand the natural environment and what we can do to protect it. Many environmental education programs are developed for young people like you. You have more power to make a difference than you might think. Why? You have a long future ahead of you. This means that how you choose to live now will make a big difference over the course of your life. Your lifestyle choices can even inspire your parents and grandparents’ generations.
Environmental education programs seem like a very good thing. But do they really work? The short answer is yes. By searching large online databases of scientific studies, we found that environmental education programs deeply influence people’s knowledge: Young people who take part in environmental education learn a lot about nature, the climate, and what they can do to protect the environment. We also found that environmental education has meaningful effects on attitudes: Young people feel positive about the environment and motivated to protect it. Finally, environmental education encourages environmental behavior: Young people who have taken part in environmental education are more likely to do things to protect the environment, such as recycling waste or taking shorter showers to save water, carrying a reusable water bottle, or turning off the lights when leaving a room.
Overall, we found the benefits of environmental education programs can be very broad. They help young people know about, care about, and do things to protect the environment. Environmental education can be a powerful way to prepare young people for the future. It does not only help young people understand what environmental problems we face — it also encourages them to act. But still, some important questions remain. For example, what is the best way for teachers to teach environmental education? Which activities (for example, learning in class or going to a camp) work best for children of different age groups? There is no right answer — the most important thing is to learn from each other’s perspectives.
