Hello, everyone,
It’s my great honour to speak here. Now let me tell you something about myself.
I am an outgoing and confident boy, and I never mind telling people what I think. In my free time, I love taking photos, because pictures can help me remember the beautiful moments in my life. However, I am not good at managing my time. Last term, I often played on my mobile phone before finishing my homework, so I always went to bed late and felt tired. To solve this problem, I made a weekly plan and stuck to it. Little by little, my life is back in order. When I was learning to swim two years ago, I nearly gave up because I drank a lot of water. But I told myself to keep trying, and now I can swim like a fish. To me, a beautiful life does not mean having everything. It means facing difficulties bravely and enjoying every small success.
I hope we can be good friends in the future. Thank you!

Kevin is a Grade 9 student who is good at maths, but he is afraid of speaking in front of the class. When the teacher asks him questions, his face turns red and his heart beats fast.
One day, the science teacher asked each group to give a short show about the solar system. Kevin’s group chose him to be the speaker because he knew the topic best. That night, Kevin even hoped that he would be ill the next day.
His best friend Lucy noticed his worry. “Your fear is like a paper tiger,” she said. “Face it, and it will become smaller.” She asked Kevin to practise in front of her first. Later, the science teacher recorded Kevin’s show on her mobile phone, so he could watch himself and correct his mistakes. Kevin practised again and again.
On Friday, Kevin stood in front of the class. His voice was shaking at first, but soon he was speaking about the planets with confidence. When he finished, all his classmates cheered for him. “The fear was bigger in my mind than in the classroom,” Kevin wrote in his diary.

Do you often feel sleepy in class? You are not alone. Scientists say that teenagers need eight to ten hours of sleep every night, but most students today sleep much less.
Why is it so hard for teenagers to get enough sleep? There are two main reasons. First, many students spend two or more hours on homework every evening. Second, mobile phones keep their brains awake. The bright screen tells the brain, “It is still daytime! Don’t sleep!” So even when students go to bed, they may lie awake for a long time.
Lack of sleep does great harm to teenagers. Sleepy students find it hard to focus in class, and they often feel stressed more easily. Some may even put on weight because a tired body asks for more food.
Here is some advice from doctors. Put your mobile phone away half an hour before bedtime, and go to bed at the same time every night. Your body loves a good habit. Sweet dreams will come back, and so will your energy.
51.How many hours of sleep do teenagers need every night?

B. Seven to eight.
C. Eight to ten.
D. Nine to eleven.

If you walk along the Second Spring in Wuxi, you may hear a beautiful erhu piece, The Moon Reflected in the Second Spring. It was created by Abing, one of the greatest Chinese folk musicians.
Abing was born in Wuxi in 1893. As a child, he learned to play many instruments from his father. Unluckily, in his thirties, an eye illness took away his eyesight. He lost his home and had to make a living by playing music on the streets. Life was hard, but he never stopped creating. He turned his pain and hope into music.
In the summer of 1950, a music expert named Yang Yinliu visited Abing and recorded six of his pieces with a tape recorder. Abing told him, “I have more than two hundred pieces in my head, but I can’t play them all now.” A few months later, Abing died. Luckily, his music stayed with the world. Years later, the famous Japanese conductor Seiji Ozawa heard The Moon Reflected in the Second Spring and said with tears in his eyes, “This music should be listened to on one’s knees.”
Today, people around the world are still moved by Abing’s music. His life was full of darkness, but he filled it with beautiful sounds. Perhaps that is the best lesson he left us: no matter how hard life is, we can still make it beautiful.
