Instead, he took out his savings and bought lenses (镜片), iron pipes and tools. His dream was simple but unusual: to build a real telescope for the children of his village, who had never seen the stars clearly through a real one. People laughed at him. “You are a language teacher! What do you know about optics (光学)?” his old friends said. It was true — Mr. Zhao had taught Chinese for thirty-five years. But he did not give up. He borrowed physics books from the city library and studied them late into the night. When a calculation was too difficult, he wrote letters to university professors, and to his surprise, several of them replied patiently. The first three telescopes failed: the mirrors were not smooth enough, and the images were unclear. Mr. Zhao kept trying. In the fifth winter, his fourth telescope finally worked. On a cold but clear night, more than sixty children lined up on the playground to look at the moon. Through the telescope, they saw mountains and holes on the moon’s surface for the first time. Many of them cried with excitement. Today, the village has a small “star classroom” built with donations from across the country, and three of Mr. Zhao’s students have entered universities to study space science. “Mr. Zhao did not just build a telescope,” says the village headmaster. “He built a window to a larger world.” 1. Why did Mr. Zhao start building a telescope? A. To prove his old friends wrong. B. To earn money after retirement. C. To help village children see the stars. D. To become a physics teacher. 2. What can we learn about Mr. Zhao from Paragraph 2? A. He had taught physics for 35 years. B. He learned optics mostly by himself. C. The professors refused to help him. D. He gave up after three failures. 3. Which words can best describe Mr. Zhao? A. Honest and humorous.             B. Strict and patient. C. Rich and generous.                D. Determined and selfless. B When people from different countries meet, words are not the only thing that can go wrong. Body language — gestures, eye contact and facial expressions — can also cause serious misunderstandings. Take the “OK” gesture, for example. In the United States, it means “everything is fine”, and people use it every day. In Brazil, however, the same gesture is considered rude. Similarly, the “V” sign is friendly in most countries, meaning “victory” or “peace” — but only when the palm (手掌) faces outward. In Britain and Australia, making the sign with the palm facing inward is a rude insult. Eye contact is another minefield (雷区). In many Western countries, looking directly into someone’s eyes shows honesty and interest. Teachers often tell students, “Look at me when I am talking to you.” But in some Asian and African cultures, a child looking straight at an adult may seem impolite or too proud. For them, lowering the eyes is a sign of respect, not dishonesty. Silence also “speaks”. In Finland, long pauses in a conversation are normal and even welcome; they show that people are thinking carefully. In the United States, however, silence may make speakers nervous, so they fill it with small talk. What should travellers do? Experts give three suggestions. First, observe local people before you use your hands. Second, when in doubt, ask — people are usually happy to explain. Third, remember that a friendly smile is the safest body language in almost every culture in the world. 4. What does the “V” sign with the palm facing inward mean in Britain? A. Victory. B. Peace. C. A rude insult. D. Everything is fine. 5. Why do teachers in some Western countries ask students to make eye contact? A. To show honesty and interest.          B. To check whether they are sleepy. C. To frighten the students.              D. To follow Asian traditions. 6. What is the safest body language according to experts? A. Nodding the head.             B. A friendly smile. C. Direct eye contact.              D. Keeping silent. C In the west of Hangzhou, only five kilometres from busy shopping streets, lies a “green lung” of the city — Xixi National Wetland Park. It is China’s first national wetland park, covering about ten square kilometres. Seventy percent of it is covered by water: rivers, ponds and small lakes, connected by waterways that fishermen have used for hundreds of years. The park does a quiet but important job. In the rainy season, it stores flood water like a giant sponge; its reeds (芦苇) clean the water naturally as it slowly flows through. In hot summers, the water and plants absorb heat, making nearby streets several degrees cooler. Scientists call such places “the kidneys (肾) of the city”. What makes Xixi special, however, is that people and nature share it. About two thousand villagers still live inside the park. They grow vegetables, raise fish and sell persimmons (柿子) in autumn, just as their grandparents did. Visitors take electric boats — silent ones, to avoid frightening the birds — through the waterways, passing old stone bridges and fishing houses. More than 180 kinds of birds live or rest here, including some rare ones. Strict rules protect this balance. New buildings must copy the traditional style, and the number of daily visitors is limited. “What we protect is not just birds and reeds,” says a park manager. “It is a way of life that has existed for a thousand years.” 7. Where is Xixi National Wetland Park? A. In the centre of Shanghai.          B. In the west of Hangzhou. C. On an island in the south.          D. At the foot of a mountain. 8. Why is the park compared to a “giant sponge”? A. Because it is soft and wet. B. Because it stores flood water and cleans water naturally. C. Because it makes the city warmer in summer. D. Because it produces drinking water for the city. 9. What can we learn about the villagers in the park? A. They have all moved out of it.             B. They still live and farm inside it. C. They make a living by selling boat tickets.    D. They must leave the park at night. 10. What might be the best title for the text? A. Birds of Hangzhou              B. A City’s Green Lung C. Boats on the Waterways          D. The History of Fishing in Xixi D “Xiao Zhi, what’s the weather like tomorrow?” “Tomorrow will be cloudy, with a high of 22 degrees.” Conversations like this happen millions of times a day in Chinese homes. AI language assistants have quietly become part of our daily lives: they set alarms, translate menus, answer homework questions and chat with lonely old people. Many students now say their “first question of the day” is asked to an AI, not to a teacher or parent. How do these machines work? In simple terms, an AI language model does not truly “understand” words the way humans do. It has been trained on huge amounts of text — books, articles and web pages — and it learns to predict which word should come next. Some scientists compare it to a student who has read almost everything but has never truly experienced the world: it knows that “ice” and “cold” often appear together, but it has never actually felt cold. This is why AI brings both help and risk. On the one hand, it gives quick explanations and never gets impatient. On the other hand, if students ask AI to write their essays, they may slowly stop thinking for themselves. Worse still, AI sometimes states wrong information confidently, and users who never check may believe it. That is why schools have begun to teach “AI literacy”. It does not mean learning to build robots. It means learning to ask good questions, to judge whether an answer is reasonable, and to check important facts with books or teachers. “AI should be a tool, like a calculator,” says one teacher. “You may use it, but you must still learn to think.” The future, most experts agree, is not humans versus machines, but humans thinking together with machines. 11. According to the text, how do AI assistants produce answers? A. They truly understand the questions. B. They copy answers directly from books. C. They predict words based on huge amounts of text. D. They ask their engineers each time. 12. The writer compares AI to a student who “has read almost everything but has never truly experienced the world” to show that ______. A. AI reads faster than students          B. AI lacks real experience and understanding C. students should read more books       D. AI is better at exams than students 13. What is one risk of over-reliance on AI mentioned in the text? A. Students may stop thinking for themselves.    B. Computers will break down often. C. AI will become too expensive.              D. People will read fewer paper books. 14. What does “AI literacy” in schools include? A. Building AI robots.       B. Asking good questions and checking answers. C. Selling AI products to students.    D. Replacing teachers with AI. 15. What is the writer’s attitude towards AI? A. People should stop using it. B. It will completely replace human thinking. C. It should be used as a tool together with human thinking. D. Only scientists should be allowed to use it. More and more schools are turning empty corners of the playground into vegetable gardens. We had competed for the top score for two years, and neither of us liked to lose. So when the teacher announced that the two of us had to build a model of a “future farm” together for the school Science Fair, we both frowned. We disagreed on everything. He wanted a solar-powered barn; I wanted an automatic watering system. For a whole week we worked in silence, each building our own half of the model. The classroom became as cold as winter. Then came the rehearsal (彩排). The moment we connected our two halves, the little lights went out and the water pump stopped. Our “future farm” stood there, dark and dead. Chen Yang stared at the model, and I stared at him. The fair was only three days away. That evening, my phone buzzed. It was a message from Chen Yang: “Meet me at school tomorrow at 7:00. Our model needs one voice, not two. — C.Y.” The next morning, we put our two designs on the same table for the first time. Surprisingly, his solar panels could power my watering system perfectly. We spent the day joining them together, arguing less and laughing more. On the day of the fair, everything was ready. The lights shone, the pump hummed, and tiny green rice seedlings stood in our model field. Paragraph 1: On the big day, our “future farm” stood quietly in the corner of the hall. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: When the results were announced, Chen Yang and I looked at each other and laughed. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 试题编写说明 本试卷全部语篇(听力材料、阅读 A/B/C/D、七选五、完形填空、语法填空及写作情境)均为原创编写,命题话题紧扣人教版(2019)选择性必修第一册各单元主题(People of Achievement / Looking into the Future / Fascinating Parks / Body Language / Working the Land),所列网站仅为各语篇话题背景与事实常识的参考来源。 (Unit 2 Looking into the Future) https://www.technologyreview.com 七选五 校园菜园的开设(Unit 5 Working the Land) 英国皇家园艺学会(https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice) 完形填空 口吃少年的演讲突破(Unit 1 People of Achievement) 原创  语法填空 校园稻田与收获节(Unit 5 Working the Land) 原创  应用文写作 科技节邀请信(Unit 2 Looking into the Future) 原创  读后续写 竞争对手的合作实验(Unit 1 People of Achievement) 原创  2026—2027学年第一学期高二年级期中考试 (英语试题) 命题范围:人教版(2019)英语选择性必修第一册 Unit 1 — Unit 5 题型说明:本试题的题型、题量、分值与2026年全国高考英语(新课标卷)完全一致 满分 150分 考试时间 120分钟 注意事项: 1. 1. C 5. A 6. 根据文章第二段“In Britain and Australia, making the sign with the palm facing inward is a rude insult.( 在英国和澳大利亚,手心向内比划这个手势是一种粗鲁的侮辱。)” 根据文章第三段“In many Western countries, looking directly into someone’s eyes shows honesty and interest. Teachers often tell students, “Look at me when I am talking to you.”(在许多西方国家,直视某人的眼睛表示诚实和兴趣。老师经常告诉学生:“我跟你说话时看着我。”)”可知,西方国家的老师要求学生进行眼神交流是为了展现诚实和兴趣。 【6题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章最后一段“Third, remember that a friendly smile is the safest body language in almost every culture in the world.( 第三,请记住,在世界上几乎所有的文化中,友好的微笑是最安全的肢体语言。)” C In the west of Hangzhou, only five kilometres from busy shopping streets, lies a “green lung” of the city — Xixi National Wetland Park. The History of Fishing in Xixi 【答案】7. B 8. B 9. B 10. 根据第一段中的“In the west of Hangzhou, only five kilometres from busy shopping streets, lies a “green lung” of the city — Xixi National Wetland Park.(在杭州西部,距离繁华商业街仅五公里的地方,坐落着这座城市的一片“绿肺”——西溪国家湿地公园。)” 根据第二段中的“In the rainy season, it stores flood water like a giant sponge; its reeds (芦苇) clean the water naturally as it slowly flows through.(雨季时,它像一块巨大的海绵储存洪水;芦苇在水流缓缓经过时,对水体进行自然净化。)” 根据第三段中的“About two thousand villagers still live inside the park. They grow vegetables, raise fish and sell persimmons (柿子)  in autumn, just as their grandparents did.(大约两千名村民仍然居住在公园内。他们种菜、养鱼,在秋天售卖柿子,和祖辈的做法一样。)”可知,村民依旧在园内居住、劳作。 【10题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第一段中的“In the west of Hangzhou, only five kilometres from busy shopping streets, lies a “green lung” of the city — Xixi National Wetland Park.(在杭州西部,距离繁华商业街仅五公里的地方,坐落着这座城市的一片“绿肺”——西溪国家湿地公园。)” D “Xiao Zhi, what’s the weather like tomorrow?” “Tomorrow will be cloudy, with a high of 22 degrees.” Conversations like this happen millions of times a day in Chinese homes. 11. C 12. B 13. A 14. B 15. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Paragraph 1: On the big day, our “future farm” stood quietly in the corner of the hall. The lights shone softly over the golden field, the pump hummed like a busy bee, and the tiny rice seedlings waved in the artificial wind. Visitors gathered around, asking questions and nodding with interest. Chen Yang explained the solar panels while I demonstrated the watering system — strangely, our voices fitted together just like our two halves of the model. When the judges stopped in front of us, I suddenly felt my hands tremble. But then Chen Yang smiled at me and said, “Relax. We built it together, and it works.” Taking a deep breath, I began my part with confidence. Paragraph 2: When the results were announced, Chen Yang and I looked at each other and laughed. Our “future farm” had won first prize. Holding the certificate together, we both understood that the real prize was not the certificate itself. For two years we had seen each other as rivals, trying our best to beat each other. Now we had learned that two “halves” — like two different ideas — could join together and create something greater than either of us could build alone. Competition had made us strong, but cooperation had made us excellent. As we walked back to the classroom with the award, we were already talking about what to build for next year’s fair — this time, as partners. 词汇激活 行为类 ①讲解:explain/illustrate ②明白:understand/be aware of 情绪类 ①自信地:with confidence/confidently ②微笑:smile/beam 【点睛】[高分句型1] Holding the certificate together, we both understood that the real prize was not the certificate itself. (现在分词作状语,that引导宾语从句) [高分句型2] Now we had learned that two “halves” — like two different ideas — could join together and create something greater than either of us could build alone.(that引导宾语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
