① 情绪爆发(非谓语+无灵主语):Taking notice of the challenging task / Catching sight of the vast audience, a great wave of panic/fear was welling up in my heart and surging through my chest. 恐惧(倒装+with复合):So terrified/nervous was I that I lowered my head and shut my eyes tightly, with my heart in my mouth / with butterflies in my stomach. 动作链(独立主格+with复合):Seized by a sense of helplessness/embarrassment, I was rooted/frozen there in silence, with my palms soaked in sweat, only in hope of digging a hole on the ground to escape.
② 转折顿悟(倒装):After what seemed like a century, I cast a nervous glance at [某人/某物]. Through my mind flashed an idea: "The more committed we are, the luckier we will be!" / "Face your fear, and it will disappear!"
【Para 2
③ 情绪特写(双形容词+with复合):Exceedingly proud and relieved, with my eyes sparkling/glowing with excitement, my face lit up and a broad smile lifted the corner of my mouth.
④ 感动/释然(with复合):Looking around, something indescribable pulled at my heartstrings; with tears welling up and clouding my vision, I shot/cast [某人] a grateful glance and squeezed heartfelt thanks.无灵主语(狂喜):Overwhelmed/Seized/Dominated by a wave of delight/sense of achievement, I was floating in the river of wild joy. Unintentionally, a bright and broad smile bloomed on my face, like a sunflower turning towards the sun.
⑤ 主旨升华(倒装句):Deep inside/Deep down, it dawned on me that never should we underestimate the profound power of courage/self-belief/determination.
With my heart knocking wildly, I walked down the diving board towards its end.
Catching sight of the deep blue water below, a great wave of panic was welling up in my heart.
“Upon this, without hesitation, I gathered all my courage and stepped onto the board.”
“But just as I was about to jump, my mind went blank again.”
“Just then, I heard the coach’s voice behind me: ‘You can do it.’”
定句5(悬念):my mind went blank again
Taking a deep breath, I forced myself to picture the four steps I had rehearsed a hundred times.
I was afraid I would fail again.
When the result was announced, I passed—and more importantly, I had stopped running away from fear.
Deep down, it dawned on me that never should we underestimate the power of facing our fears—because the person we become in the process matters more than the result itself.

Never had I felt so small and helpless, as if the whole world were laughing at my cowardice.
After what felt like a century of internal struggle, I cast a hesitant glance at the crowd. Through my mind flashed a voice: "Am I going to let fear define me forever?"
A little voice inside whispered, "You can't do it." Then another voice answered: "But what if I can?"
Hearing the coach's firm encouragement, a spark of courage was ignited deep within my heart, slowly melting the ice of my fear.
Shy as he was, he summoned up the courage to step forward, with a determined light flashing in his eyes.
Taking a deep, trembling breath, I gritted my teeth and forced my rigid legs to move forward, with my eyes fixed firmly on the target.
I clenched my fists tightly, mustered every ounce of my strength, and muttered to myself, "It's now or never."
Driven by a sudden surge of determination, I embraced my fear, stepped onto the board, and dived. Never before had I felt so alive.
Tired as she was, she still managed to finish the race, leaving a trail of sweat and tears behind.
As the thunderous applause broke out, a wave of wild joy seized me. Tears of relief welling up and clouding my vision, I finally let out a long, shaky breath.
A great sense of relief welled up in my heart and surged through me, washing away all the previous anxiety.
Exceedingly proud and relieved, I felt my face lit up. Unintentionally, a bright and radiant smile bloomed on my face, like a flower finally embracing the spring.
With tears of joy pouring down my cheeks, I was floating in the river of achievement, my heart filled with immense gratitude.
Deep down, it dawned on me that our biggest enemy is not the challenge itself, but the fear within. Never should we underestimate the profound power of taking that first brave step.
Deep inside, it dawned on me that what truly matters is not whether we win, but the courage we gather to conquer ourselves when facing the unknown.
What counts is not whether I won, but that I stopped running away from fear. Never should we be defined by our past failures; rather, it is the act of rising every time we fall that makes us who we are.
The frightening day of our diving test was here. Our parents thought we were lucky to have an Olympic-size swimming pool at the school. My mom stressed that the swimming pool was one of the best in our city. But I didn't feel happy about it at all. Instead, I felt afraid of the swimming pool. It was mainly because I was terribly shy.
I was so shy that I always sat at the back of the room in class so I'd not be called upon to read. As for the present physical education class each Monday morning, I would work my way to the back of the line forming at the diving board so I would not have to practice the dives.
Now, it was another Monday morning - the morning of our diving test. My blood ran cold when the teacher Ms. Robbins announced that we would be graded for our final on the most difficult dive- the jackknife. And she added, "This diving test is important. The one who fails has to spare time in the following Monday mornings to practice diving in this swimming pool and attend this test again."
My body kept shaking with fear as the line to the scary diving board shortened. As I watched, each student seemed to perform the challenging dive effortlessly. And shortly I would have to attempt something that I had never even practiced before.
Then I remembered someone telling me that when you picture yourself doing a skill over and over, it's just as effective as physically practicing that skill. So I watched carefully as each classmate jumped at the end of the board once, added a jump for height, folded their body in half to reach for their toes, and finally straightened out like an arrow for going into the water. After carefully watching for a while, I was actually in a state of surprise, because all of a sudden I realized that it was possible for me to perform these four steps of diving.
Eventually all classmates except me finished jumping. The teacher announced that it was my turn.

Paragraph 2: Knowing I failed, I climbed out of the pool, embarrassed.
Paragraph 1:
With my heart knocking wildly, I walked down the diving board towards its end. Catching sight of the deep blue water below, a great wave of panic was welling up in my heart and surging through my chest. So terrified was I that I lowered my head, with butterflies in my stomach. Seized by a sense of helplessness, I was rooted at the edge, with my palms soaked in sweat, only in hope of digging a hole on the ground to escape. After what seemed like a century, I cast a nervous glance at the coach. Through my mind flashed an idea: "Face your fear, and it will disappear!" Upon this, without the slightest hesitation, I pictured the four steps and jumped.
Paragraph 2:
Knowing I failed, I climbed out of the pool, embarrassed. However, exceedingly warm and encouraging, my coach patted my shoulder, with his eyes glowing with trust. Looking at him, something indescribable pulled at my heartstrings; with tears welling up and clouding my vision, I decided to practice harder. Overwhelmed by a wave of determination, I practiced again and again in the following weeks. Finally, I passed the test, and unintentionally, a bright and broad smile bloomed on my face, like a sunflower turning towards the sun. Deep down, it dawned on me that never should we underestimate the profound power of courage and self-belief.

My knees started shaking, yet my body froze. It felt as though my soul departed my body and I had no control over it. Anxiously, I looked through the roster (名单) posted on the wall of the locker room. My heart was beating harder and harder as I slowly saw all my friends' names on that list but could not find mine. At that moment, I was so convinced there was a mistake that I went and found the coach. "Hey, coach, are you sure that the roster you posted is correct?" I asked anxiously, dreading (担心) his answer.
"Yes, the names on the list are finalized. Sorry if you did not make it this year, there is always next year," the coach replied.
I could feel the hot, bitter tears filling my eyes, and I ran out of the room as fast as I could. Trying to forget about the situation, I headed over to the cafeteria to buy some food. I felt dead inside, like nothing mattered. Walking was such a burden that it felt as if I had a 100-pound weight tied to my backpack. My mind was also blank for the rest of the school day. Everything my teachers said went in one ear and out the other.
After school, as I walked to the parking lot to get picked up, I saw all my friends gathered near the back of the lot, celebrating and joking around. I detoured (绕道) around the side of the school to avoid them, trying not to think about being the only one in our friend group failing to make the team.
I saw my father's red car pull up near the school lot. I walked up to the car and got in. He smiled at me, turned on the radio, and started driving home. And soon he noticed my gloomy face, and asked me what was wrong. "Nothing. Well, it's just that all my friends made the school team. Everyone! Except me..." I stammered (口吃). "Well, what are you going to do about it? Are you just going to sit there and wait?" he asked. Surprised, I didn't know what to say.

I just shook my head and went into my room. Catching sight of my gloomy reflection in the mirror, a great wave of frustration and self-doubt was welling up in my heart and surging through my chest. So heartbroken was I that I buried my face in my hands, with my heart in my mouth. Seized by a sense of failure, I was rooted by the door in silence, with tears welling up and clouding my vision. After what seemed like a century, my father's words echoed in my mind. Through my mind flashed an idea: "If I don't push myself, nothing will change!" Upon this, I sighed in relief. Without the slightest hesitation, I jumped into quick action, changing into my sportswear and running out of the house driven by a strong determination.
Paragraph 2:
After almost a year of practicing and training, I tried out for the team again. Taking a deep breath, I stepped onto the court, with my eyes fixed firmly on the target. Exceedingly confident and calm, with sweat soaking my jersey, I gave my best performance. Overwhelmed by a wave of nervousness, I waited for the final result. When the coach announced I was on the list, a wave of wild joy seized me, and tears of relief welling up in my eyes, I hugged my father tightly.
When Thanksgiving Day was approaching, my primary school decided to celebrate by presenting shows with dancing and singing that all students could join in. Parents would also be invited to watch.
One afternoon, my teacher called me into his office. He said with a smile, "Nancy, could you write a poem and read it during the coming event?" "Of course," I answered excitedly. I had loved poetry since fifth grade. When my first poem was published, my friends and teachers started to describe me as the class poet.
I left the schoolmaster's office that afternoon feeling quite happy. Then, for weeks, I worked on my poem, carefully designing the content, structure and sound. I practiced reciting it aloud every day.
When the evening for the event finally came, I was ready. Well, I was ready until I looked around and realized how many people there were in the school hall. How could I present my poem in front of more than 400 people? I was just a seventh-grader. No one would take my work seriously. What was worse, I had never spoken in front of a huge crowd before. I sat in my chair, wanting to bury myself. Maybe they would forget I was supposed to read.
"Hey, Nancie, I saw your name in the program. Good luck," my little brother shouted. His voice rose as he took his seat a few rows down with his class. I nodded, struggling to keep calm. I knew my parents were somewhere in the hall. Before long, the lights faded, the crowd went quiet, and the schoolmaster got on stage to introduce the list of performers. My name was at the end of the list, so I had to sit through an hour of absolute anxiety.
It wasn't until the students from the fourth grade were singing that my teacher led me downstairs to the area next to the stage. My mind was blank. Then suddenly, I was on stage with the bright white lights blinding my view of the audience. When I walked to the microphone in the center of the stage, I somehow tripped over something and stupidly fell down. All of the kids burst into laughter.

Paragraph 1:
I was about to run away when my teacher came up to me. Taking notice of the laughing crowd, a great wave of embarrassment was welling up in my heart and surging through my chest. So ashamed was I that I lowered my head, with my heart in my mouth. Seized by a sense of stage fright, I was frozen there in silence, with my face burning like a tomato, only in hope of digging a hole on the ground to escape. After what seemed like a century, I cast a desperate glance at my teacher. Through my mind flashed an idea: "A stumble may prevent a fall; just be brave!" Upon this, my teacher joked gently to ease the tension. I sighed in relief; without the slightest hesitation, I gathered all my courage and walked to the microphone.
Paragraph 2:
When I finished my reading, the hall was silent at first. Then, exceedingly surprised and thrilled, with my eyes sparkling with disbelief, I saw my mother wiping away tears. Looking around, something indescribable pulled at my heartstrings; with tears welling up and clouding my vision, I received the thunderous applause. Overwhelmed by a wave of wild joy, I was floating in the river of achievement. Unintentionally, a bright and broad smile bloomed on my face, with my eyes sparkling with great thrill. Deep inside, it dawned on me that never should we underestimate the profound power of self-belief and the courage to face our fears.

When I moved to Dallas in the fourth grade, I noticed I was behind in my reading at Saint Michael's School. Reading out loud, I had difficulty with half the sentences.
My teacher, Mrs Agnew, said my reading comprehension and ability to pronounce words were at a lower level than other fourth graders. I was nervous every time she called on me to read aloud because, although I would try my hardest, she would always have to help me with the words. She guessed I suffered from dyslexia, and she suggested I be tested for dyslexia.
At first, I didn't want to be tested because I feared it would prove I truly had dyslexia. However, finally, I decided to receive the test.
One morning, I went to hospital with my parents and met Dr. Waites. Before long, I began to take the test. The test made me feel uncomfortable, and I was frightened to answer the questions related to the test, in fear of facing failure. When the test ended, Dr. Waites said the test results showed that I had dyslexia, I was shocked and felt upset. Dr. Waites comforted me, saying that his hospital had many other kids who had dyslexia. Then, he smiled and suggested ways to get over dyslexia.
According to him, I should often read books and understand what was read. And I should try to read aloud, and build a vocabulary of recognized and understood words. Besides, I should often do physical exercise. And he suggested I receive speech therapy in his hospital every few days. As for my parents, Dr. Waites suggested they spare time to read aloud with me.
After returning home, I searched information on the Internet and further leaned about dyslexia. I found it was not easy for a person to get over dyslexia. I had little confidence that I could succeed in removing my dyslexia, and I was worried and frightened about my future. Noticing it, my parents tried to encourage me.

Para 1: They brought me a book about some people defeating life challenges.
Para 2: Several years later, when I volunteered at the same hospital, a girl who had dyslexia asked me to read a book to her.
Paragraph 1:
They brought me a book about some people defeating life challenges. Catching sight of the inspiring stories, a great wave of hope was welling up in my heart. So encouraged was I that I wiped away my tears, with my eyes glowing with determination. Seized by a sense of newfound strength, I was no longer frozen by fear, with my hands tightly holding the book. After what seemed like a century, I cast a grateful glance at my parents. Through my mind flashed an idea: "I won't let dyslexia define me; I will fight!" Upon this, without the slightest hesitation, I jumped into quick action, reading aloud daily and attending speech therapy regularly. Gradually, I conquered my learning disability.
Paragraph 2:
Several years later, when I volunteered at the same hospital, a girl who had dyslexia asked me to read a book to her. Exceedingly warm and empathetic, I sat beside her bed, with my voice soft and clear. Looking at her nervous eyes, something indescribable pulled at my heartstrings; with a broad smile lifting the corner of my mouth, I shared my own story with her. Overwhelmed by a wave of relief and pride, I saw her eyes light up with hope. Unintentionally, a bright and broad smile bloomed on my face, like sunshine melting the winter ice. Deep down, it dawned on me that never should we underestimate the profound power of resilience and the courage to overcome obstacles.

I was getting ready to graduate from college. For many months, I had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer's showroom, and knew my father could well afford it. I told my father what I wanted was the sports car. As Graduation Day approached, I waited for signs that my father had purchased the car.
Finally, on the morning of my graduation, my father called me into his private study. He told me how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told me how much he loved me. He handed me a beautifully wrapped gift box.
Curious, but somewhat disappointed, I opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible, with my name carved in gold. Angrily, I raised my voice to my father and said, "With all your money you give me a Bible?" I then stormed out of the house, leaving the Bible. I felt depressed and couldn't accept the fact that my father did not fulfill my expectation.
Many years passed and I was very successful in business. I had a beautiful home and a wonderful family, but realizing my father was very old, I thought perhaps I should go to see him. I had not seen him since that Graduation Day. Before I could make the arrangements, I received a call from one of my relatives telling me that my father had passed away, and left all of his possessions to me. I needed to come home immediately and deal with them.

Upon this, without the slightest hesitation, I opened the Bible and began to read it patiently.
Paragraph 2:
Finishing reading the Bible, a car key dropped from the back of it. Exceedingly shocked and heartbroken, with my eyes wide open, I picked it up and found a note saying, "Paid in full, for my dear son." Looking at the note, something indescribable pulled at my heartstrings; with tears pouring down my cheeks uncontrollably, I collapsed into the chair.

A sudden wave of self-doubt washed over me, threatening to drown my fragile courage.
A great wave of panic was welling up in my heart and surging through my chest, making it hard for me to breathe.
Fear gripped me so tightly that my mind went completely blank.

So desperate was I to escape the situation that I almost wished a hole would magically appear and swallow me whole.

Paragraph 1: With my heart knocking wildly, I walked down the diving board towards its end.
Paragraph 2: Knowing I failed, I climbed out of the pool, embarrassed.
