2. Ss can draw a mind map about birthdays, analyze the structure of the reading passage, and write a forum reply by imitating the reading template.

Teaching Procedures:

 

Step 1. Lead - in

1). Show the avatars of the two posters from Activity 1b. Ask Ss to quickly recall their posting themes and think about how they introduced their birthdays and birthday activities.

2). Guide Ss to transition from the old knowledge to the new writing task, arousing their interest.

 

Step 2. Pre - writing

1). Guide Ss to analyze how Xiaoming introduced his birthday activities

in the first post, and summarize it with keywords.

2). Using the first post as an example, encourage Ss to independently analyze how Judy introduced her birthday activities in the second post. Summarize and feel the real-time updating and interactive features of online posts.

3). Through the analysis of the two posts, guide Ss to use Wh- keywords (Who, When, What, How, Why) as clues to summarize the aspects involved in the birthday topic and build a mind map framework.

4). Based on the framework, guide Ss to summarize the language features of each section, building a language scaffold for writing.

5). Group discussion: Ss share their ideas about having a "unique birthday." The teacher supplements related language materials to broaden their minds and build a content scaffold.

 

Step 3. While - writing

1). Ss complete a mind map about "How to celebrate my birthday" based on their actual situations.

2). Based on the mind map and the provided template, Ss do an oral output activity to get familiar with the target language and content.

3). Ss combine their mind maps with the context of the first two posts to write the third forum reply.
