One Friday, Randy and Jack came to the playground to play badminton. Jack was much better at badminton than Randy. After about half an hour, Randy said to Jack, “Oh, I need to take a rest. I have to say that you are really good at this game.”
Their classmate Nick heard this. He laughed out loud and said, “Randy, that’s because you are really bad at the sport. I am the best of the three of us.”
Then, he asked Jack if he would like to play with him. Jack said, “OK.” Then, the two began to play.
As a tall boy, Nick showed great skill at playing badminton. it was not easy for Jack to win, but still, he won the game. To Jack’s surprise, Nick said, “I can win if I have a racket as good as yours.”
However, Jack didn’t think so. He said, “Let’s swap rackets to play again.”
Unluckily for Nick, he still lost the game. This time round, Nick had no excuses. He lowered his head and planned to leave.
However, Jack went over to him, saying, “Do not be sad! You are a skilled player, too.” Hearing this, Nick learned that he should not be too proud because there would always be somebody better than him.

Have you ever thought that someone looks like their name? A new study suggests that a person’s name may influence how they look when they grow up.
In the study, researchers showed people photos of different faces and asked them to choose the most matching (相配的) names. People in the study could correctly match the names to the adult faces quite well. However, they found it much harder to match names to children’s faces. This suggests that as people grow older, their looks might slowly change to fit their name. The researchers also used a computer program to compare faces. It found that adults with the same name look more similar to each other than adults with different names. But this was not true for children.
The researchers think it might be because many people have the same ideas about names. For example, people might think someone named “Bob” should have a rounder and happier face. Without realizing it, a person named Bob might smile more often or choose a certain hairstyle, making his face look rounder and friendlier over time. This way, he slowly grows to look like his name.
The study shows that our names might play a small but interesting part in shaping who we are even in how we look.

32. What can we infer (推断) about adults from the study?
