She ignores her growing bills until she is left divorced and unhappy — a lesson in living within your means.(这本书写于1913年,讲述了Undine Spragg的故事,她不惜牺牲家人来追求更富足的生活,无视不断增加的账单,最后离婚且郁郁寡欢,这是一个量入为出的教训。)” A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens部分“Rich as he is, Scrooge refuses to help others or even enjoy a good meal. However, a visit from three spirits changes him forever.(虽然Scrooge十分富有,但他不肯帮助别人,甚至连一顿像样的饭都舍不得享用。 The Gold Bug by Edgar Allan Poe部分“Not until the hero has failed in one get-rich-quick scheme after another does he begin to learn; in the end, knowledge and patience, not luck, bring him the treasure.(主人公在一次次快速致富的计划失败之后才开始醒悟;最后,是知识和耐心而非运气为他带来宝藏。)” 根据最后一段“Purchase two or more books and enjoy a generous 20% discount. Book Nook members save a further 10%.(购买两本及以上图书可享受八折优惠,会员在此基础上再减10%。)” B They now call it “Batesian mimicry” (贝氏拟态) — the amazing skill for survival I first saw in the whispering green of the Amazon. I am Henry Walter Bates. My story began not with butterflies, but as the eldest son of a stocking maker in Leicester. Yet, a boy’s passion for collecting insects and an important meeting with Alfred Russel Wallace, Darwin’s future co-theorist, sent me toward the tropics. For eleven years, the Amazon was my home, my school, and my testing ground. I faced constant dangers, from disease-carrying mosquitoes and snakes to flooding rains. I was struck down by both yellow fever and malaria. My routine was strict: mornings collecting, afternoons reading and preparing my finds. I was usually in bed by nine. My field journals, filled with detailed drawings and notes in dark ink, were my defense against the dampness and insects. I learned the local languages and customs, for without the essential guidance of its people, I would have been completely lost in that vast wilderness. It was a time of extraordinary variety. I brought back over 14,000 kinds of insects — 8,000 new to science. But the real wonder was not the numbers, but a pattern I noticed. It started with a puzzle: why could slow-flying butterflies like the Heliconius escape birds? Later I discovered they were poisonous and bitter-tasting. Then the deeper truth emerged: harmless Dismorphia had evolved to copy the bright warning colours of the Heliconius. These mimics, avoided by their natural enemies, survived to pass on their colours. Here was evolution by natural selection, written plainly on butterfly wings. I published my paper in 1862, three years after Darwin’s On the Origin of Species. That this “mimicry”, discovered in remote jungles, could offer timely field support for his great theory remains my proudest achievement. They say I “wrote the book” on field study. I simply followed my fascination, one find at a time, from my father’s Leicester workshop into the heart of nature’s grandest design. 4. Who was Henry Walter Bates? A. A researcher who studied insects. B. Darwin’s co-theorist on evolution. C. A stocking maker from Leicester. D. A writer documenting tropical life. 5. What did Bates consider was essential to his life and work in the Amazon? A. Keeping a strict daily schedule. B. Staying healthy in the rainforest. C. Collecting and studying samples. D. Getting assistance from the locals. 6. What was the pattern Bates discovered? A. Birds avoided eating bitter-tasting insects. B. Slow-flying butterflies escaped birds’ attack. C. The bright colours of butterflies signalled danger. D. Harmless species copied the look of poisonous ones. 7. Which of the following best describes Bates? A. Brave and passionate. B. Creative and humble. C. Ambitious and sociable. D. Independent and proud. A 5. D 6. D 7. 根据第一段中“I am Henry Walter Bates. My story began not with butterflies, but as the eldest son of a stocking maker in Leicester. Yet, a boy’s passion for collecting insects and an important meeting with Alfred Russel Wallace, Darwin’s future co-theorist, sent me toward the tropics.(我是亨利·沃尔特·贝茨。 以及第三段中“I brought back over 14,000 kinds of insects — 8,000 new to science.(我带回了超过14000种昆虫——其中8000种是科学上新发现的。)” 根据第二段中“I learned the local languages and customs, for without the essential guidance of its people, I would have been completely lost in that vast wilderness.(我学习了当地的语言和习俗,因为如果没有当地人必不可少的指导,我会在那片广阔的荒野中完全迷失。)” 根据第三段中“Then the deeper truth emerged: harmless Dismorphia had evolved to copy the bright warning colours of the Heliconius.(随后更深的真相浮现出来:无害的Dismorphia蝴蝶已经进化出模仿Heliconius蝴蝶鲜艳警告色的特征。)” 根据第一段中“Yet, a boy’s passion for collecting insects and an important meeting with Alfred Russel Wallace, Darwin’s future co-theorist, sent me toward the tropics.(然而,一个男孩对收集昆虫的热情,以及与达尔文未来的共同理论提出者阿尔弗雷德·拉塞尔·华莱士的一次重要会面,将我引向了热带。)”、第二段中“I faced constant dangers, from disease-carrying mosquitoes and snakes to flooding rains. I was struck down by both yellow fever and malaria.(我面临持续的危险,从携带疾病的蚊子和蛇到泛滥的雨水。 和最后一段中“I simply followed my fascination, one find at a time, from my father’s Leicester workshop into the heart of nature’s grandest design. C “There are between 10 and 50 billion potentially habitable worlds in our galaxy”, says Bill Diamond. He is the chief executive of the US based research organization SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence). “SETI is looking for science and technology beyond the solar system as the evidence of life and intelligence, and that’s by and large a needle in a haystack problem,” Mr Diamond says. “We’re looking for something that is likely exceedingly rare and may be very difficult to find and extract from the background phenomena that you’re observing at the same time.” But the ability of AI to both handle massive datasets and to spot anomalies (异常现象) is transforming the hunt for alien intelligence. Mr Diamond points to AI enabling the search for new types of radio signals from aliens. Traditionally, SETI has looked for narrowband (窄频的) signals like those used by humans. “But there was always the question, ‘What if there’s an alien advanced technology that is using wideband radio?’ And if that’s the case, our traditional methods wouldn’t work; it would look like a bunch of noise on the screen.” However, Mr Diamond says that the ability of AI to handle massive amounts of data means it’s possible to take millions of “snapshots” of the snowy audio picture over time, and to start to look for patterns. Researcher Peter Ma developed an AI system to examine telescope data and distinguish between possible alien signals and interference. His team simulated both types of noise and trained the AI to identify them. Mr Ma says that an alien signal can, for example, only appear when we point our telescopes at it and disappear when we point away. The project has already identified eight potential alien signals that went undetected by traditional analysis. However, Mr Ma believes that as the observations haven’t yet been repeated, they are probably false positives. It’s early days, and any promising results generated by AI need to be confirmed by other observations, or by physics-based models, before they can be shouted from the rooftops. But as more and more data are collected and analyzed, the chances of detecting alien life — if it exists — are increasing all the time. 8. What is paragraph 1 mainly about? A. The challenge of spotting aliens. B. The existence of alien intelligence. C. The capability of artificial intelligence. D. The ambition to explore the solar system. 9. What does Mr Diamond want to prove by mentioning “wideband radio” in paragraph 2? A. The high IQ of aliens. B. The occurrence of new patterns. C. The potential for the application of AI. D. The deafening narrowband signal sources. 10. What will Mr Ma depend on to judge his discovery? A. The identified data. B. The simulated noise. C. The conventional analysis. D. The repetitive signals. 11. What does the underlined part in the last paragraph mean? A. Before they can be made public. B. Before they can be put into massive use. C. Before they can be generated by physicists. D. Before they can be confirmed under observation. A 9. C 10. D 11. 根据第一段““There are between 10 and 50 billion potentially habitable worlds in our galaxy”, says Bill Diamond. He is the chief executive of the US based research organization SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence). “SETI is looking for science and technology beyond the solar system as the evidence of life and intelligence, and that’s by and large a needle in a haystack problem,” Mr Diamond says. “We’re looking for something that is likely exceedingly rare and may be very difficult to find and extract from the background phenomena that you’re observing at the same time.” 他是美国研究组织SETI(搜寻地外文明)的首席执行官。 故选A项。 根据第二段中““But there was always the question, ‘What if there’s an alien advanced technology that is using wideband radio?’ And if that’s the case, our traditional methods wouldn’t work; it would look like a bunch of noise on the screen.” However, Mr Diamond says that the ability of AI to handle massive amounts of data means it’s possible to take millions of “snapshots” of the snowy audio picture over time, and to start to look for patterns. 根据第三段中“Mr Ma says that an alien signal can, for example, only appear when we point our telescopes at it and disappear when we point away. The project has already identified eight potential alien signals that went undetected by traditional analysis. However, Mr Ma believes that as the observations haven’t yet been repeated, they are probably false positives. ( 马先生说,举例来说,一个外星信号只有当我们把望远镜指向它时才会出现,当我们把望远镜指向别处时就会消失。该项目已经确定了8个传统分析方法无法探测到的潜在外星信号。然而,马先生认为,由于观察结果尚未被重复,它们可能是假阳性。)”可知,马先生认为这些潜在的外星信号还没有被重复观察到,所以可能是误报,即他判断的依据是重复的信号。故选D项。 【11题详解】 词句猜测题。根据最后一段提到“It’s early days, and any promising results generated by AI need to be confirmed by other observations, or by physics-based models, before they can be shouted from the rooftops. ( 现在还处于早期阶段,人工智能产生的任何有希望的结果都需要通过其他观察或基于物理的模型来证实,然后才能在屋顶上大声喊出来。)”意思是现在还为时尚早,任何由 AI 产生的有希望的结果在被公开宣布之前,都需要通过其他观察或基于物理的模型来确认。“shouted from the rooftops”在这里表示公开宣布,A 选项Before they can be made public.“在它们可以公开之前”符合语境。故选A项。 D The idea that smiling can make you feel happier has a long history. Early psychologists were thinking about it in the 1880s. More than a hundred studies have been published on the topic. And it’s a trope (比喻) of pop wisdom: “Smile, though your heart is aching,” sang Nat King Cole in 1954. “You’ll find that life is still worthwhile, if you’ll just smile.” In 2018, social psychologist Fritz Strack published a study that seemed to confirm that facial feedback was real. The researchers asked participants to hold a pen in their mouths in a position that forced them either to expose their teeth in a copy of a smile or to purse (撅) their lips around the pen. To make sure that no one was clued in to the researchers’ interest in smiles, the experimenters told participants that they were exploring how people with physical disabilities might write or perform other ordinary tasks. When both groups were shown a set of newspaper comics — specifically, illustrations from Gary Larson’s The Far Side — the teeth-exposers rated the images as funnier than the lip-pursers did. This was a big deal for the facial feedback hypothesis (假设) : Even though participants weren’t thinking about smiling or their mood, just moving their face into a smile-like shape seemed to affect their emotions. And so the finding made its way into psychology textbooks and countless news headlines. Decades of confirmation followed, as researchers published other experiments that also showed support for the facial feedback hypothesis. But in 2025, all at once, 17 labs failed to repeat the pen study. 12. What can we learn from the second paragraph? A. Participants were physically disabled. B. Participants felt confused about the study. C. Researchers didn’t share their true purpose. D. Researchers didn’t show their facial feedback. 13. What does the result of the pen study indicate? A. Holding a pen makes comics seem funnier to people. B. A pleasant mood helps people appreciate humor more. C. Smiling frequently brings people a more enjoyable life. D. Facial movements may shape one’s moods unconsciously. 14. What is the author’s attitude towards the result of the experiment? A. Supportive. B. Objective. C. Critical. D. Indifferent. 15. Which of the following is the best title for the text? A. The Design and Results of a Pen Study. B. The Smiling Hypothesis: Still in Doubt. C. Smiling Can Really Make You Happier. D. The Power of a Smile: The Proven Truth. C 13. D 14. B 15. 根据第二段中“To make sure that no one was clued in to the researchers’ interest in smiles, the experimenters told participants that they were exploring how people with physical disabilities might write or perform other ordinary tasks.(为了确保没有人察觉到研究人员对微笑的兴趣,实验者告诉参与者,他们正在探索身体残疾的人可能如何书写或完成其他日常任务。)” 根据第三段中“When both groups were shown a set of newspaper comics — specifically, illustrations from Gary Larson’s The Far Side — the teeth-exposers rated the images as funnier than the lip-pursers did. This was a big deal for the facial feedback hypothesis (假设) : Even though participants weren’t thinking about smiling or their mood, just moving their face into a smile-like shape seemed to affect their emotions.(当两组人都观看一组报纸漫画——具体来说,是加里·拉尔森《远方》的插图——时,用牙齿咬住笔的人比用嘴唇含住笔的人把这些图像评为更有趣。这对面部反馈假说来说是个大事件:即使参与者并没有想着微笑或自己的情绪,仅仅是把脸摆成微笑的形状,似乎就影响了他们的情绪)”可知,笔实验的结果表明面部动作可能无意识地影响人的情绪。 【14题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段中“And so the finding made its way into psychology textbooks and countless news headlines. Decades of confirmation followed, as researchers published other experiments that also showed support for the facial feedback hypothesis. But in 2025, all at once, 17 labs failed to repeat the pen study.(因此,这一发现进入了心理学教科书和无数新闻头条。随后数十年间,研究人员发表了其他实验,也支持面部反馈假设。但在2025年,17个实验室同时未能重复这一笔实验。)”可知,作者既介绍了支持该假设的研究,也客观呈现了重复实验失败的结果,态度客观。 【15题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文,结合第一段中“The idea that smiling can make you feel happier has a long history.(微笑能让你感到更快乐这一想法由来已久。)”、第二段中“In 2018, social psychologist Fritz Strack published a study that seemed to confirm that facial feedback was real.(2018年,社会心理学家弗里茨·施特拉克发表了一项研究,似乎证实了面部反馈是真实存在的。)”和第三段中“But in 2025, all at once, 17 labs failed to repeat the pen study.(但在2025年,17个实验室同时未能重复这一笔实验。)” If you find yourself thinking, “I am a failure,” it’s important to know that there are things you can do to feel better. Knowing how to cope with failure in a healthy way takes some of the fear out of it. ____16____ First of all, it’s important to acknowledge that everybody fails at one time or another, but that doesn’t make us failures — it just means we are human, and that things didn’t work out this time. If you do feel like a failure, calling a friend, going for a walk, or playing with your pet are just a few examples of healthy ways to deal with your pain. ____17____ So you should try to find out what does for you. ____18____ Did you make a whole series of mistakes? Think about what you could do differently next time. Then you can ensure your failure will become a life lesson. Instead of seeing a failure as a burden weighing you down, look at it as a stepping stone toward your goals. Once you’ve identified your mistakes and where you can learn from them, you’ll be ready to make a plan for moving forward. ____19____ Stop thinking, “I am a failure.” and focus on thinking. “I am capable of trying again.” Create a plan that will help you put the information you gained into practice. If you’ve spent most of your life avoiding failure, it can feel really scary when it finally happens. Facing your fears, however, can be the key to reducing the discomfort. ____20____ Do things that might get you rejected or try new things where you could fail. Over time, you’ll learn that failure isn’t as bad as you might imagine. A. Practice stepping outside your comfort zone. B. Not every coping skill works for everyone, though. C. These will provide you with some temporary relief. D. Failure can be a great teacher if you’ re open to learning. E. And this helps reduce the pain so you can bounce back better. F. Remember that focusing on your problems will keep you stuck. G. There are many reasons why you might be feeling like a failure. E 17. B 18. D 19. F 20. 【16题详解】 根据空前的“Knowing how to cope with failure in a healthy way takes some of the fear out of it.(知道如何以一种健康的方式面对失败可以消除一些恐惧)”可知,知道如何以健康的方式面对失败能消除一些恐惧,此处讲述的是以一种健康的方式面对失败所带来的好处,E选项“这有助于减轻痛苦,这样你就能更好地振作”继续陈述以一种健康的方式面对失败所带来的好处,承接空前的内容,其中的it指代空前的“Knowing how to cope with failure in a healthy way”。 【17题详解】 根据空前的“If you do feel like a failure, calling a friend, going for a walk, or playing with your pet are just a few examples of healthy ways to deal with your pain.(如果你真的觉得自己很失败,打电话给朋友,出去散步,或者和你的宠物一起玩,这些都是处理痛苦的健康方法)”可知,此处列举了一些面对失败的一些健康方法,结合空后的“So you should try to find out what does for you.(所以你应该试着找出什么适合你)”可知,此处建议找出适合自己的方法,根据so可知,此空处与空后的内容为因果关系,由此可知,此空处讲述的应是不适合所有的人,B选项“然而,并不是所有的应对技巧都适用于每个人”讲述的内容承接上文,且与空前内容为转折关系,与空后的内容为因果关系,符合逻辑。 【18题详解】 根据后文“Did you make a whole series of mistakes? Think about what you could do differently next time. Then you can ensure your failure will become a life lesson. Instead of seeing a failure as a burden weighing you down, look at it as a stepping stone toward your goals.(你是不是犯下了一连串的错误?想一想下次你可以换种方式怎么做。这样你就能让失败成为人生的一课。不要把失败看作压垮你的重担,而要把它当成通往目标的垫脚石)”可知,空后内容讲述从错误中总结经验、把失败当作通往目标的垫脚石,D项“如果你愿意学习,失败可以成为很好的老师”总领本段关于从失败中汲取经验的核心内容。 【19题详解】 根据空后的“Stop thinking, “I am a failure.” and focus on thinking. “I am capable of trying again.”(不要再想“我是个失败者。” Last Friday, a large group of friends and I went to a concert. Dear judges, I’m Li Hua from Hongxing High School. I hold the view that AI-generated paintings are not real art. First of all, real art comes from artists’ true feelings and life experiences, while AI just mixes existing works according to data. It can produce beautiful pictures, but it can never replace human art. 词汇积累 取代:replace → take the place of 工具:tool → instrument 总之:in short → in conclusion 拥有:own → possess 2. It can produce beautiful pictures, but it can never replace human art. While it can produce beautiful pictures, it can never replace human art. 1】I hold the view that AI-generated paintings are not real art.(运用了that引导同位语从句) 【高分句型2】Besides, art creation needs independent thinking and emotional expression, which AI cannot own.(运用了which引导非限制性定语从句) 第二节读后续写(满分25分) 57. “And that’s why I think I’d be good for this job,” I finished typing. I was having an interview online and talking with my potential employer, Ms Black. We had not met in person yet. But from what I had read of her requirements for a personal assistant, I knew I wanted the position. She even had a little pet dog who had the final say on any applicant. “Your puppy sounds so cute,” I added. “I love dogs.” Then, I started to worry that typing that was too much at this early stage and stopped myself from adding anything more. The bubbles appeared on screen, showing that the lady was typing something in response, when there was a knock at my front door. My mother was in, and as I was in the middle of an online interview, I asked her to answer it. I heard a lot of muffled (模糊不清的) noise and then my mother called my name. I hurried downstairs, wondering what was going on. Our neighbor was in our entrance hall, holding her little cat, Marley. Tears were streaming down her cheeks. Her hands shook badly. “We were attacked by a big dog,” she wept. Marley was quiet in her arms but alert, bleeding slightly on one leg, trembling in great pain. “Are you okay?” “Yes. But Marley is badly hurt,” she nodded shakily and said, nearly breaking down. She was too anxious to drive to the hospital alone. Even though I was supposed to be in the middle of an interview, I made a decision. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ It was late when I got back, and I thought I had blown the online interview. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】参考范文: Even though I was supposed to be in the middle of an interview, I made a decision. Typing a brief apology to Ms Black and leaving my microphone on, I snatched my car keys, grabbed my coat, patted my sad neighbor on the arm and said softly, “I’ll drive you there right now.” Dusk wrapping the quiet neighborhood in dim amber light, we carried the injured cat Marley, its bleeding leg wrapped in a clean towel, into my car and rushed him to the nearest pet hospital. It was late when I got back, and I thought I had blown the online interview. On my cold, quiet desk glowed my dimly lit laptop screen. I, disheartened, was about to close the chat window when a new message popped up. Awareness dawned upon me that Ms Black had heard the whole incident through the open mic and was deeply moved, adding that her puppy would give me the final approval. D The idea that smiling can make you feel happier has a long history. If you find yourself thinking, “I am a failure,” it’s important to know that there are things you can do to feel better. Knowing how to cope with failure in a healthy way takes some of the fear out of it. ____16____ First of all, it’s important to acknowledge that everybody fails at one time or another, but that doesn’t make us failures — it just means we are human, and that things didn’t work out this time. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
