(本题7.5分)Building Bridges of Trust
Date and time Sunday, October 19
Location Online
About this event
This 3.5-hour interactive webinar (网络研讨会) will focus on ways we can share intercultural spaces with one another. So many of us come from different backgrounds and cultures and it can be difficult to see another person’s or culture’s perspective. We will discuss the multiple spaces and cultures we inhabit. In addition, we will use comedy as a tool to “not take ourselves too seriously” and to aid us in finding solutions to these age-old challenges we humans invent. We will “re-think” and “re-construct” how we position ourselves in our work and our lives so that we might build bridges of trust with each other and with the clients we work with.
Educational objectives
RECOGNIZE the various spaces and cultures we inhabit individually as well as the various
spaces or cultures our clients may inhabit.
ANALYZE the ways this might be blocking us from building trust with one another and with our clients. (We will be using comedic tools to keep this light.)
IDENTIFY three ways our perspectives may be blocking us from building trust with each other and with our clients.
PROPOSE one way to re-think or re-construct the spaces we inhabit individually in order to build trust with each other and with our clients.

(本题10分)When Clara took her five-year-old daughter Lila to a school interview this September, she hoped to see her laugh and play with other kids. Instead, Lila just sat alone in a corner, picking at her clothes and never looking up when a teacher talked to her. The teacher suggested that Lila might struggle with socializing. Clara felt worried — she’d never noticed this before — and left the school with a heavy heart.
As a nurse, Clara made a hard decision: she quit her job to fully focus on her daughter. She read many books and watched online videos to learn about kids who have trouble fitting in. “People like my daughter love repeating their behavior to calm themselves. Lila likes arranging her toys in a straight line over and over again. If she’s not troubling anyone, I let her be,” Clara says.
Despite her efforts, some neighbors often judged her parenting (育儿). Clara faced unkind words, but she stayed patient. She kept a small notebook to record what upset or pleased Lila — loud noises scared her, but soft music made her smile. She also encouraged Lila to join activities like painting and planting flowers.
Clara gave up the idea of “fixing” Lila. “I didn’t push her to talk more or play with others. I just wanted her to feel comfortable and grow in her own way,” she says. Today, Lila is more confident — she can say simple greetings, help water the flowers at home, and even share her paintings with the teacher.
Clara and her friend started a small group called “Little Stars Shine Too”. They shared Lila’s stories online to help other parents. Clara also wrote a guidebook to support parents of children with special needs. For her, the key is acceptance. “When you stop trying to fit your child into a box, you open the door to a new world,” she says.
24.(2.5分)What caused Clara to leave the school with a heavy heart?
A.Her regret at Lila’s performance. B.Her knowing about Lila’s condition.
C.Her poor preparations for the interview. D.Her failure to meet Lila’s headteacher.
25.(2.5分)What’s a feature of people like Lila according to Clara?
A.They are skilled at playing with toys. B.They are interested in specific activities.
C.They keep calm by repeating the same action. D.They need special attention from their families.
26.(2.5分)How does Clara help her daughter Lila?
A.By taking part in different activities. B.By creating a supportive environment.
C.By working together with her neighbors. D.By reflecting on daily mistakes regularly.
27.(2.5分)Who is the text probably written for?
A.Parents. B.Teachers. C.Nurses. D.Students.
(本题10分)During the Little Ice Age, the Inuit and the Norse coexisted in Greenland. Although both groups faced the same climate challenges, their fates were different. Why the Inuit thrived while the Norse declined has confused archaeologists for decades. To answer this question, the researchers investigated the issue from a new perspective. A study published in the European Journal of Archaeology by Mathilde Meyer and Dr. Felix Riede reveals the unexpected role of childhood play.
The research team analyzed toys unearthed from archaeological sites. The Norse settlements yielded 72 toys. The Inuit settlements, located in similar environmental conditions, yielded 2,397 toys. The study revealed that the Inuit created a much broader and more varied range of toys. These included miniatures of kayaks, knives, and lamps, each designed to teach specific practical skills. In contrast, Norse toys were limited to objects related to traditional agricultural activities, such as bird figures and domestic tools. Dr. Riede explains, “The Inuit’s toys not only mirrored their survival strategies but also actively cultivated innovation among children. The Norse toys, however, stressed a conventional way of life.”
More strikingly, the Inuit children’s play grew dramatically over time. This may reflect a deliberate cultural response to environmental pressures. The Inuit’s developmental environment for children emphasized exploration. These practices allowed children to experience new technologies and strategies, such as dog sleds and the umiaq (a large boat), crucial for surviving the harsh conditions. Over time, Inuit toys also revealed subtle shifts in design and emphasis that corresponded to broader ecological and social changes. By contrast, the Norse stuck to established norms, limiting their capacity to innovate or transition to marine-based economies.
Though the lack of toys may indicate that Norse society was less creative from the start, the researchers argue that their tendency to give irrelevant toys intensified any initial lack of creativity and ultimately reduced their chances of survival. By contrast, the Inuit’s preference for various and relevant toys paved the way for their children. This research invites reflection on how contemporary societies and modern parents educate children to face future challenges, such as climate change and social crises.
28.(2.5分)What is the main purpose of the new study?
A.To solve a historical survival mystery. B.To contrast two parenting philosophies.
C.To offer a solution to climate challenges. D.To document two ancient lifestyles.
29.(2.5分)What advantages did Inuit toys have over Norse toys?
A.Variety and durability. B.Diversity and adaptability.
C.Practicality and stability. D.Creativity and complexity.
30.(2.5分)What did the change in Inuit children’s play over time suggest?
A.Sufficient play could reduce survival threats.
B.Exposure to more toys improved kids’ creativity.
C.Traditional wisdom was overlooked for survival.
D.Experimental play facilitated cultural adaptation.
31.(2.5分)What lesson can modern parents draw from the study?
A.Offer a wide range of learning opportunities.
B.Emphasize toys that promote imagination.
C.Choose toys that develop real-world skills.
D.Encourage cooperative role-playing games.
(本题10分)AI Application in Modern Education
Artificial intelligence is reshaping various social fields, and modern education is one of the most rewarding sectors. Limited by fixed schedules and unified teaching modes, traditional education fails to meet students’ personalized learning needs. With high flexibility and data-analysis capacity, AI is significantly improving teaching quality and learners’ overall learning experience.
AI’s biggest advantage in education is realizing personalized learning. Students differ in learning paces, academic weaknesses and study habits, which traditional classes can hardly satisfy. Many AI-powered systems collect and analyze students’ learning data, including exercise errors and knowledge mastery. They then generate tailor-made study schedules, spot weaknesses and offer targeted exercises. Studies show AI-assisted personalized learning can raise students’ learning efficiency by nearly 40 percent.
AI also greatly reduces teachers’ repetitive routine tasks sharply and eases their pressure. Much of teachers’ time is spent grading objective questions, sorting learning records and writing routine feedback. Intelligent systems can automatically score papers and generate class learning reports. Such tools save teachers over half of their routine time, enabling them to focus more on classroom teaching and student communication.
AI deserves wide promotion for its value in balancing education resources. Uneven distribution of educational resources leaves remote areas lacking quality teachers and courses, widening the regional education gap. Breaking time and space limits, AI platforms deliver high-quality curricula to underdeveloped areas, serving as a key solution to promote equitable education.
However, AI’s large-scale application in education faces challenges. Data misuse may cause privacy leakage (泄露). Moreover, AI only assists knowledge teaching and cannot replace teachers’ role in students’ mental growth and character building. Besides, many grassroots teachers lack professional AI training, blocking the popularization of intelligent teaching.
Joint efforts from educational departments, schools and tech firms are needed to improve AI education systems. Strict data protection rules and standardized teacher training are essential. Despite existing challenges, AI will help build a fairer and more efficient modern education system, making the efforts worthwhile. Therefore, instead of hesitating over its limitations, we should actively embrace AI as a powerful tool to advance education.
32.(2.5分)What is the biggest strength of AI in education?
A.It simplifies teachers’ training courses.
B.It fully bridges regional education gaps.
C.It achieves personalized learning for students.
D.It replaces traditional classroom teaching modes.
33.(2.5分)How does AI help reduce teachers’ burden?
A.By designing all school teaching courses.
B.By handling repetitive daily teaching work.
C.By correcting students’ subjective test answers.
D.By communicating with students on teachers’ behalf.
34.(2.5分)What can we infer about AI education from the text?
A.It has been fully popularized nationwide.
B.It has no potential safety risks at present.
C.It still has limitations in educational practice.
D.It can guide students’ mental development well.
35.(2.5分)What is the author’s attitude towards AI education?
A.Supportive. B.Objective. C.Doubtful. D.Negative.
(本题12.5分)Patience is a virtue because it cultivates inner strength and sound judgment. In a world that often feels rushed and demanding, the ability to wait calmly and tolerate delays really empowers us to make clear-headed decisions. 36(2.5分) Thus it can prevent us from making choices in a hurry that could have negative consequences.
With patience, we’re able to handle challenges with a level head. It helps us to focus on long-term goals rather than short-term setbacks. Things can’t always go according to plan. 37(2.5分) It gives us the strength and determination to remain optimistic. Cultivating patience allows us to appreciate the process of growth and helps us handle difficulties with grace.
38(2.5分) But we can remain calm, peaceful, and happy regardless. Patience plays its most important role in our interactions with people. With patience, we don’t explode at people easily. We work on gathering more information and looking for a solution instead.
Another important key to patience is gratitude. Instead of focusing on what we want right now, we focus on being grateful for what we already have. When we are grateful for what we have, we improve our ability to be patient. 39(2.5分) If you resist this, you suffer. That suffering creates more impatience. But if you accept that one of the guarantees of life is change, you will relax.
Patience is being present, examining your options, and working to move forward. If things work out, then great. But if they don’t, then we try something else. It’s just that simple. There is so much good in developing the virtue of patience. It takes work, it takes effort, but there are so many benefits of developing patience. 40(2.5分)
A.It’s necessary to make early plans.
B.However, we must realize that life changes.
C.This promotes a great sense of achievement.
D.Patience may not always give us what we want.
E.Being patient helps us avoid acting out of anger.
F.Patience improves our ability to deal with frustration.
G.With patience, you will find life flows more beautifully.

After a few minutes, the father asked his son for the second time, “What is this?” The son said, “Father, I have just now told you, it is a crow!”
After a little while, the old father again asked his son for the third time, “What is this?”
At this time some expression of irritation (恼怒) was felt in the son’s tone when he said to his father with a rebuff (生硬回绝), “It’s a crow, a crow.” A little while later, the father again asked his son the fourth time, “What is this?”
This time, the son shouted at his father, “Why do you keep asking me the same question again and again, although I have told you so many times ‘IT IS A CROW’. Are you not able to understand this?"
A little while later the father went to his room and came back with an old tattered (发皱的) diary, which he had maintained since his son was born. On opening a page, he asked his son to read that page. When the son read it, the following words were written in the diary:
“Today my little son aged three was sitting with me on the sofa, when a crow was sitting on the window. My son asked me 23 times what it was, and I replied to him all 23 times that it was a crow. I hugged him lovingly each time he asked me the same question. I did not at all feel annoyed but I rather felt love for my innocent son.

W: That makes sense, but how do I get them to do chores without constant arguing?
M: The key is to match tasks to the child’s age. For younger kids, start with small jobs — like having a 2-or 3-year-old put away toys. Around 10 or 11, they can handle changing bed sheets.
W: And how do I keep them motivated?
M: Start by making chores fun, turning them into a game. Also, praise their effort — a star chart can work well. But most importantly, and this is often overlooked, be the example you want your children to follow.

【原文】
Hello, class. In four weeks, you are going to graduate, but I want to talk to you about education. Education doesn’t stop when you leave school, and I don’t just mean further education at university or college. I’m talking about lifelong learning.
Whether it’s picking up a new skill, mastering deeper knowledge, or exploring new subjects, continuous learning not only makes our lives colorful, but also keeps our brains active. Learning about new cultures, history, and technology deepens our understanding of the world.
Learning can happen anywhere, not just in classrooms. You can learn through online courses, reading books, or talking to people. Learning doesn’t have to be formal; it can be part of your daily life.
Also, keeping on improving your skills will enable you to fit in at work sooner and make quicker progress. Employers will value workers who are willing to adapt and develop their skills.
So remember, it’s never too late to learn something new. Every step counts.

A.Parents. B.Teachers. C.Nurses. D.Students.
【答案】24.B 25.C 26.B 27.A

She also encouraged Lila to join activities like painting and planting flowers.(Clara面对不友善的言论依然保持耐心。她备有一个小笔记本,记录让Lila不安或开心的事情——响亮的声音让她害怕,而轻柔的音乐却让她微笑。她还鼓励Lila参加绘画和种花等活动)”和第四段“I didn’t push her to talk more or play with others. I just wanted her to feel comfortable and grow in her own way(我没有强迫她多说话或和别人玩。我只是想让她感觉舒服,以她自己的方式成长)”可知,Clara通过观察需求、提供包容性活动和不强求改变,让Lila按自己的方式成长,这些表明Clara的核心方法是创造支持性的环境。
27.推理判断题。通读全文,尤其是最后一段“They shared Lila’s stories online to help other parents. Clara also wrote a guidebook to support parents of children with special needs. For her, the key is acceptance.(他们在线分享了Lila的故事,以帮助其他家长。Clara还编写了一本指南,为有特殊需求孩子的父母提供支持。对她而言,关键在于接纳)”可知,文章讲述母亲Clara发现女儿Lila存在社交困难后,通过观察、接纳和创造包容环境帮助她成长,并呼吁其他家长理解特殊需求儿童。由此可知,文章的目标读者可能是父母。
【答案】28.A 29.B 30.D 31.C

Influences of the Internet on Education
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】Influences of the Internet on Education
The Internet has transformed the world into a global village, altering all aspects of our life, especially education. Here, I’d like to share my thoughts on its positive effect as well as negative one.
The most obvious advantage lies in the wide choice of courses. Learners can have access to the courses tailored for personal needs regardless of time and space. As a result, learning occurs in such an efficient way that gaining knowledge is easier than ever. The downside is just as noticeable. Along with individualized courses, the Internet presents half-truths that puzzle the young minds where self-control and judging power are still forming.
Therefore, I strongly suggest that the use of the Internet should be under supervision of adults. And parents and teachers should provide guidance to ensure it best serves the mental and physical growth of the teens.

六、书面表达
67.(本题25分)阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
An 80-year-old man was sitting on the sofa in his house along with his 45-year-old highly educated son. Suddenly a crow (乌鸦) perched (栖息) on their window.
The father asked his son, “What is this?” The son replied, “It is a crow.”

Feeling ashamed, the son got down on his knees before his father.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】
After reading the diary, the son’s eyes filled with tears. He was shocked and deeply ashamed, realizing how impatient he had been with his father. He thought of his rude shouts and rebuffs, and compared them with his father’s endless patience when he was a little boy. His heart was filled with regret and guilt. He sat silently for a moment, unable to say a word, his face burning with shame.
Feeling ashamed, the son got down on his knees before his father. He held his father’s old hands tightly, tears rolling down his face, and apologized sincerely for his rudeness. “Dad, I’m sorry. I was so selfish and impatient,” he said. The father smiled gently, stroked his son’s head and helped him up, saying he never blamed him. The two hugged tightly, and the warmth of family filled the room.
