I remember the day during our first week of class when we were informed about our semester(学期) project of volunteering at a non-profit organization. When the teacher introduced us to the different organizations that needed our help,my last choice was Operation Iraqi Children (OIC).My first impression of the organization was that it was not going to make enough of a difference with the plans I had in mind.
Then,an OIC representative gave us some details, which somewhat interested me.After doing some research, I believed that we could really do something for those kids. When I went online to the OIC website,I saw pictures of the Iraqi children.Their faces were so powerful in sending a message of their despair(绝望) and need that I joined this project without hesitation. We decided to collect as many school supplies as possible, and make them into kits——one kit,one child.
The most rewarding day for our group was project day, when all the efforts we put into collecting the items finally came together. When I saw the various supplies we had collected,it hit me that every kit we were to build that day would eventually be in the hands of an Iraqi child.Over the past four months,I had never imagined how I would feel once our project was completed. While making the kits,I realized that I had lost sight of the true meaning behind it.I had only focused on the fact that it was another school project and one I wanted to get a good grade on.When the kits were completed, and ready to be sent overseas, the warm feeling I had was one I would never forget.
In the beginning,I dared myself to make a difference in the life of another person. Now that our project is over,I realize that I have affected not only one life, but ten. With our efforts, ten young boys and girls will now be able to further their education.
24. How did the author feel about joining the OIC project in the beginning?
A. It would affect his/her initial plans.
B. It would involve traveling overseas.
C. It would not bring him/her a good grade.
D. It would not live up to his/her expectations.
25. What mainly helped the author change his/her attitude toward the project?
A. Images of Iraqi children. B. Research by his/her classmates.
C. A teacher's introduction. D. A representative's comments.
26. The author's OIC project group would help ten Iraqi children to________..
A. become OIC volunteers B. further their education
C. study in foreign countries D. influence other children
27. What can we conclude from this passage?
A. One's potential cannot always be underrated.
B. First impression cannot always be trusted.
C. Actions speak louder than words.
D. He who hesitates is lost.

Start reading recent internet conversations about AI, and you’ll find a topic that surfaces with increasing frequency: ChatGPT delivered lifesaving medical advice.
“Three weeks ago I woke up from a nap and found some red spots all over my legs,” begins one such account in a video from Bethany Crystal, who lives in New York. After an exchange with ChatGPT, it told her, “You need immediate evaluation for possible bleeding risk.” “What followed was a terrible three-day experience that got increasingly scary,” says Crystal, who was eventually diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disorder. She says she may not have gone to the emergency room in time if ChatGPT had not been insistent.
Hundreds of millions of people now consult ChatGPT weekly for wellness advice, according to its maker, OpenAI. In early January, the company announced the launch of a new platform, ChatGPT Health, which it says offers enhanced security for sharing medical records and data. It joins other AI tools such as My Doctor Friend in promising to partner with patients on navigating health care.
Many patients describe using different AI platforms to help with daily management of health as a complement (补充) to advice from medical professionals. Sixty-year-old Burt Rosen uses AI to help manage symptoms and treatment for the cancer he’s been diagnosed with. He frequently shows AI test results and asks it to translate them into comprehensible English. Rosen says AI has changed the relationship he has with his doctor. “When I go into a doctor’s appointment, I no longer need him to explain much to me,” he says. “My doctor’s appointment is much more of an action-planning session.”
Of course, AI is not a replacement for a doctor. Doctors say that without clinical oversight (监督), misdiagnosis, misleading advice, or human misunderstanding are significant problems. Despite these hazards, they are optimistic about the contributions AI can make to health care and believes the benefits will eventually outweigh the dangers, if they don’t already.
28. What does Bethany Crystal’s case in paragraph 2 indicate?
A. The popularity of ChatGPT. B. The significance of regular checkups.
C. The lack of medical knowledge. D. The value of AI-aided medical diagnosis.
29. What do we know about ChatGPT Health?
A. Its users’ privacy is better protected. B. It provides better health care than doctors.
C. It has 100 million registered users. D. It is used as a tool by My Doctor Friend.
30. What impact has AI brought to Rosen?
A. It improves the cure rate for his disease.
B. It reduces his trust in medical personnel.
C. It offers him real-time translation at the doctor’s.
D. It changes the way he communicates with his doctor.
31. What does the underlined word “hazards” in paragraph 5 mean?
A. Virtues. B. Risks. C. Signs. D. Reminders.
D
Who is a genius? This question has greatly interested humankind for centuries.
Let’s state clearly: Einstein was a genius. His face is almost the international symbol for genius. But we want to go beyond one man and explore the nature of genius itself. Why is it that some people are so much more intelligent or creative than the rest of us? And who are they?
In the sciences and arts, those praised as geniuses were most often white men, of European origin. Perhaps this is not a surprise. It’s said that history is written by the victors, and those victors set the standards for admission to the genius club. When contributions were made by geniuses outside the club—women, or people of a different color or belief—they were unacknowledged and rejected by others.
A study recently published by Science found that as young as age six, girls are less likely than boys to say that members of their gender(性别)are “really, really smart.” Even worse, the study found that girls act on that belief: Around age six they start to avoid activities said to be for children who are “really, really smart.” Can our planet afford to have any great thinkers become discouraged and give up? It doesn’t take a genius to know the answer: absolutely not.
Here’s the good news. In a wired world with constant global communication, we’re all positioned to see flashes of genius wherever they appear. And the more we look, the more we will see that social factors(因素)like gender, race, and class do not determine the appearance of genius. As a writer says, future geniuses come from those with “intelligence, creativity, perseverance(毅力), and simple good fortune, who are able to change the world.”
32. What does the author think of victors’ standards for joining the genius club?
A. They’re unfair. B. They’re conservative.
C. They’re objective. D. They’re strict.
33. What can we infer about girls from the study in Science?
A. They think themselves smart.
B. They look up to great thinkers.
C. They see gender differences earlier than boys.
D. They are likely to be influenced by social beliefs
34. Why are more geniuses known to the public?
A. Improved global communication.
B. Less discrimination against women.
C. Acceptance of victors’ concepts.
D. Changes in people’s social positions.
35. What is the best title for the text?
A. Geniuses Think Alike B. Genius Takes Many Forms
C. Genius and Intelligence D. Genius and Luck

第二节(满分25分)
67. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Rohan was not the kind of student who usually ranked first in class. He worked hard, completed his homework on time, and respected his teachers, but there was always someone who scored a bit higher. He never complained, though. His father often reminded him, “Marks matter, but honesty matters more.” Rohan believed that — or so he thought.
Then came the day when the math exam results were announced. The classroom buzzed with nervous whispers. Some students prayed silently, while others tapped their pencils anxiously. When Mrs. Sharma began calling out names, Rohan’s heart raced. He had studied extremely hard and hoped for a satisfying score.
“Rohan,” Mrs. Sharma called. He stepped forward and took his paper with shaking hands. Looking at the top, he froze: 95 out of 100 — the highest score he had ever achieved. His best friend Aarav, who usually topped the class, had only scored 93. Disbelief washed over him.
“Well done, Rohan! You’ve earned it,” Aarav smiled sincerely. Rohan forced a smile, yet he felt uneasy. Checking his paper carefully, he spotted a careless calculation (计算) mistake in Question 7. He clearly remembered being unsure about that answer. But Mrs. Sharma had given him full marks.
His fingers tightened around the paper. “No one will notice,” a small voice inside him whispered. “Just three points. You worked hard anyway.” Another voice insisted (坚持), “But it’s wrong.”
If he told the truth, his marks would drop to 92 and he would lose the first place. For a moment, he imagined going home and showing his parents the 95. They would be so proud. His father might even bring sweets to celebrate. But his heart felt heavy.
He recalled a time when his father had returned extra change that a shopkeeper had given him by mistake. “Son,” he told Rohan that day, “wealth got without honesty never brings peace.”
Rohan stared at his exam paper again. The number “95” no longer brought him excitement, only guilt (愧疚). Slowly, he rose, legs shaking.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Rohan walked toward Mrs. Sharma’s desk, hands sweating.

Back at his seat with the corrected paper, Rohan was surprised by his classmates’ reaction.

W: Well, the deadline for university is only two weeks away.
M: Oh no. But I’m torn between two different careers.

W: Well, what about a job that combines both of the things you love?
M: Like what?
W: A technical illustrator. You draw the plans for machines and other technology to show how they work, so that people could learn to use the machine through the drawings you created.
M: I had never thought of that. That’s a great idea, Mrs. Lloyd.
W: That’s what I’m here for, to guide you to your best career. So, you would want to major in engineering and technology design.

【答案】17. A 18. A 19. B 20. C
【解析】
【原文】 European apartment blocks were originally designed as a space-saving way to quickly replace housing lost during WW2. So, perhaps it makes sense that they’re not traditionally known for their beauty. However, a brand-new tower block in Paris is breaking all the rules. The 13-floor UNIC building, which was completed in 2022, was designed by MAD Architects, an imaginative Beijing-based company with offices in both North America and Europe. UNIC has a creative, flowing shape, inspired by nature. As such, there is not a single straight line in the whole building. Each apartment is surrounded by a balcony, with planting spaces to encourage residents to connect with the outside. UNIC offers a mix of affordable and luxury homes. The more expensive apartments are found on the higher floors, where residents can enjoy views of the Eiffel Tower, which is located a few kilometers away. UNIC forms a key part of Paris’s new “eco-neighborhood”, which aims to reduce environmental impact. And with shops, restaurants, and parks nearby, the space also encourages relationships between residents from different backgrounds. It was soon fully booked after the design was released. But it is no surprise that Parisians like this unique building.

A. Virtues. B. Risks. C. Signs. D. Reminders.
【答案】28. D 29. A 30. D 31. B

【31题详解】
词句猜测题。根据第五段“Of course, AI is not a replacement for a doctor. Doctors say that without clinical oversight (监督), misdiagnosis, misleading advice, or human misunderstanding are significant problems. Despite these hazards, they are optimistic about the contributions AI can make to health care and believes the benefits will eventually outweigh the dangers, if they don’t already.
【答案】32. A 33. D 34. A 35. B
【解析】
【导语】本文是一篇议论文。文章由问题“谁是天才?”引入,论述了世人对天才的狭隘定义,提出事实上“天才”有很多种形式,不要让思维限制了我们的“天才”能力。
【32题详解】
推理判断题。根据第三段的“It is said that history is written by victors, and those victors set the standards for admission to the genius club. When contributions were made by geniuses outside the club-women, or people of a different color or belief-they were unacknowledged and rejected by others.(据说历史是由胜利者书写的,而那些胜利者为进入天才俱乐部设定了标准。当俱乐部以外的天才——女性或不同肤色或信仰的人——做出贡献时,他们不会被承认并且被其他人拒绝。)”可知,作者认为那些“胜利者”对进“天才俱乐部”设置的标准是不公平的,因为女性或者不同肤色或信仰的人做出的成就是得不到承认的。故选A。
【33题详解】
推理判断题。根据第四段的“Even worse, the study found that girls act on that belief. Around age six they start to avoid activities said to be for children who are “really, really smart.(更糟糕的是,研究发现女孩们是按照这个信念行事的。六岁左右,她们开始避免那些据说是“非常非常聪明”的孩子参加的活动。)”可推知,女孩容易受到社会信仰的影响,认为自己不适合做“聪明孩子”做的事情。故选D。
【34题详解】
细节理解题。根据最后一段的“In a wired world with constant global communication, we’re all positioned to see flashes of genius wherever they appear.(在一个拥有持续的全球交流的联网的世界里,我们随时随地都能看到天才的出现。)”可知,进步的全球通讯让更多的天才被公众所知道。故选A。
【35题详解】
主旨大意题。根据文章的主要内容,结合文章第一段提出问题“Who is a genius?(谁是天才)”和最后一段的“And the more we look, the more we will see that social factors(因素)like gender, race, and class do not determine the appearance of genius. As a writer says, future geniuses come from those with “intelligence, creativity, perseverance, and simple geniuses, who are able to change the world.(我们看得越多,就越会发现,像性别、种族和阶级这样的社会因素并不能决定天才的外表。正如一位作家所说,未来的天才来自那些具有“智慧、创造力、毅力和那些能够改变世界的简单天才。)”可知,天才不一定是那些有巨大贡献的人,他们也可以是某一方面比较突出的普通人。由此可知B项“天才有多种形式”可以作为本文最佳标题。故选B。

【导语】本文是一篇议论文,主要讨论了自律与自我管理对于拥有健康身体和实现目标的重要性。
【36题详解】
上文“Self-disciplined people are not all outstanding people.(自律的人并不都是优秀的人)”指出自律并不能保证成为优秀的人,F项“But nearly all outstanding people are self-disciplined people.(但几乎所有优秀的人都是自律的人)”承接上文,揭示自律与成为优秀的人的真正关系,进而引出下文关于自律重要性的探讨,句中“all outstanding people”对应下文中代词“them”。上下文语意连贯。故选F项。
【37题详解】
上文“The real difference between an elite (杰出的) person and an ordinary person is that an elite person can manage his or her time well.(精英人士和普通人的真正区别在于,精英人士能很好地管理自己的时间)”提到精英能很好地管理自己的时间,B项“That’s where their success comes from.(这就是他们成功的来源)”承接上文,说明“manage his or her time well”的意义,上下文语意连贯。故选B项。
【38题详解】
上文“Anyone who has ever tried to lose weight knows that it’s not easy.(任何曾经尝试过减肥的人都知道这并不容易)”说明减肥不易,C项“It’s even harder to avoid putting weight back on.(要避免体重反弹就更难了)”承接上文话题,说明避免体重反弹更难,句中“even harder”表明上下文之间的递进关系,同时,这两句话与前文“Never underestimate (低估) someone who is in good shape.(永远不要低估身材好的人)”构成因果关系,说明不要低估身材好的人的原因。故选C项。
【39题详解】
上文“If someone is in good shape, it means that this person is good at managing themselves and their time.(如果一个人状态很好,这意味着这个人善于管理自己和自己的时间)”提出“管理自己和自己的时间”的能力,D项“Whether it is natural or acquired, it is a great skill.(无论是天生的还是后天习得的,这都是一项伟大的技能。)”承接上文,对此作出评价,句中代词“it”指代上文中“good at managing themselves and their time”,上下文语意连贯。故选D项。
【40题详解】
根据后文“First of all, set a goal and write down your reasons for wanting to achieve it. Create a list of all the things you need to do to achieve this goal and start to work on them one at a time. With self-discipline, small things in life will no longer trouble you. Only through self-discipline can you truly own your future.(首先,设定一个目标,并写下你想要实现它的原因。为实现这个目标,列出你需要做的所有事情,然后一次做一件。有了自律,生活中的小事情将不再困扰你。只有通过自律,你才能真正拥有自己的未来)”可知,本段的主旨是如何进行自我管理,故A选项“How do you learn self-management?(你如何学会自我管理?)”可以作为段首主题句。故选A项。

第二节(满分25分)
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Rohan walked toward Mrs. Sharma’s desk, hands sweating.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Back at his seat with the corrected paper, Rohan was surprised by his classmates’ reaction.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】
Rohan walked slowly toward Mrs. Sharma’s desk, hands sweating. He gathered all his courage and quietly told her about the unmarked calculation mistake in Question 7, voice trembling slightly. “I shouldn’t get these three extra points, ma’am,” he said, lowering his head gently in shame. Mrs. Sharma looked surprised first, then checked the paper carefully and nodded with a warm smile. She corrected the score to 92 in front of the whole class, praised Rohan sincerely in public, saying honesty was worth far more than any high score.
Back at his seat with the corrected paper, Rohan was surprised by his classmates’ reaction. Instead of laughing at him for losing the first place, his best friend Aarav clapped first warmly and loudly, and soon all classmates joined in. All the unease and guilt in Rohan’s heart faded completely, replaced by great relief. When he told his father the whole thing after school, his father hugged him tightly and bought his favorite mango sweet snacks. Rohan truly understood that the honor of honesty is far more precious than any unfair high score.
