第二单元介绍的是那些鼓舞人心的人，课文里谈到袁隆平培育出新型水稻、钟扬在西藏采集种子，还有身边那些默默付出的人。要评价一个人做的事，这个单元教了一个很管用的句式——用 it 开头，把真正要说的内容放到后面：It was great of him to develop a new kind of rice. 说他培育新型水稻这件事，真了不起。这一份资料把这类 it 句式的几种变化集中讲清楚：先说最基础的 it is 加形容词加不定式，再讲 for sb 和 of sb 分别在什么情况下用，最后看 it 加 that 从句。

一、it 作形式主语：真正的主语在句尾

看这句话：It is important to protect the environment. 保护环境很重要。句子的真正主语是 to protect the environment，开头的 It 只是占个位置，把长主语往后挪，句子读起来就稳当得多。这种用法在英语里很常见，叫形式主语。类似的还有：It is necessary to learn a foreign language. 学一门外语很有必要；It takes time to learn English well. 学好英语需要时间。注意后面的不定式用 to 加动词原形。it 还能接 takes 这类动词：It took him two years to learn Japanese. 他花了两年时间学日语。不过这一单元里，重点还是 is 加形容词的结构，先把这一种吃透，后面两种就好办。

二、for sb：说的是“这件事”

想说“做某事对某人是……的”，就在形容词后加 for 加人：It is difficult for me to learn Japanese. 学日语对我来说很难。这里的 for me 点明动作的发出者。for 后面接宾格，比如 for us、for him、for her。这个句式里的形容词说的都是事情本身的特征，像 difficult、important、easy、necessary、interesting、possible，都可以用。课文里的例子：It is not easy for us to do what he did. 我们做到他所做的并不容易。for 后面既可以是代词宾格，也可以是名词：It is hard for children to sit still. 让小孩子安安静静坐着很难。做题时看到形容词先想它说的是人还是事，事情就用 for。

三、of sb：说的是“这个人”

还有一种情况，形容词夸的不是事情，而是人的品质。这时用 of 加人：It is kind of you to help me. 你帮我，你真好。of 前面的形容词说的是这个人怎么样，像 kind、polite、clever、careful、brave、nice、rude、foolish，都描述人的品质或性格。这类句子可以换一种说法：It is kind of you to help me. 就等于 You are kind to help me.。课文里夸袁隆平就用的是这种结构：It was great of him to develop a new kind of rice. 他培育出新型水稻，真了不起。还有一个辨认办法：这类形容词后面常能

加 -ly 变成副词，像 polite 变 politely、careful 变 carefully，说的都是人的做事态度。拿不准时，把句子翻成中文，看形容词夸的是人还是事。

四、for 和 of，怎么选

for 和 of 的区别，就看形容词在说谁。形容事情本身，用 for：It is important for us to keep the classroom clean. 保持教室整洁对我们很重要，重要的是“保持教室整洁”这件事。形容人的品质，用 of：It is nice of you to lend me the bike. 你把自行车借给我，你真好，好的是“你”这个人。还有个更简单的检验办法：of 句型能改成“某人加 be 加形容词加 to do”，比如 It is nice of you to lend me the bike 可以说成 You are nice to lend me the bike；for 句型不能这么改。做题时先看形容词，再判断该用哪个介词，这一条比记搭配更管用。
