However、In addition、Second、And、Instead
(2)复现与指代是核心线索:代词(it、they、this)、同义复现、上下义关系频繁出现,如 family traditions 与 practices and customs 的复现。
However、In addition、And、Instead、But。
(3)代词指代线索(约 8 空):it、they、this、these 回指上文名词或观点。
【点拨1】段落主旨归纳——以 Passage 1 题 1 为例:原文写道“How can you develop the qualities of a great person”。该空位于段首或段尾,须概括该段核心意思;选项 B 的内容“Curiosity is the first step toward greatn…”
【点拨2】逻辑衔接——以 Passage 2 题 2 为例:原文写道“Siblings (兄弟姐妹) can be your best friends”。
【点拨3】举例支撑——以 Passage 4 题 3 为例:原文写道“Lots of people have noticed that teenagers are spending more time on …”。该空后为举例内容,须填入引出例证的句子;选项 C 的内容“And they also worried that they might fee…”
【点拨4】转折对比——以 Passage 5 题 4 为例:原文写道“When we talk about overcoming (克服) failure to succeed, who will you t…”。该空所在句与前文形成转折或对比关系;选项 E 的内容“It was Edison who made light bulbs availa…”
【点拨5】总结归纳——以 Passage 6 题 5 为例:原文写道“Mother’s Day is a special day for honoring mothers worldwide”。该空为段落总结句,须收束本段并呼应主题;选项 F 的内容“It’s a warm way to pass down love and gra…”
【点拨6】段落主旨归纳——以 Passage 7 题 1 为例:原文写道“Family traditions are the practices and customs that are passed down …”。该空位于段首或段尾,须概括该段核心意思;选项 B 的内容“They are an important part of family life.”
【点拨7】逻辑衔接——以 Passage 9 题 2 为例:原文写道“It’s normal to feel nervous before a test”。该空需填入承上启下的句子,保持段落间的逻辑连贯;选项 B 的内容“The program was used to help them relax a…”
【点拨8】举例支撑——以 Passage 10 题 3 为例:原文写道“We have a saying that “filial piety (孝敬) is the most important of all…”。该空后为举例内容,须填入引出例证的句子;选项 E 的内容“This kindness can stop fights and bring p…”最契合段落逻辑,故选 E。
三、易错提醒
• 忌“只看句意”:脱离段落逻辑,忽略前后衔接。
• 忌“忽视复现”:错过代词、同义词的呼应。
• 忌“先定多余项”:应最后确认哪项是干扰。
• 忌“首尾空草率”:段首常是主旨,段尾常是总结。
Passage 1
How can you develop the qualities of a great person? Here are some suggestions.
First, stay curious. Great people are always eager to learn. Wang Zhenyi spent years studying in her grandfather's library. 1 Ask questions, read widely, and never stop exploring.
Second, be brave enough to challenge old ideas. 2 Copernicus was certain that the Earth travels around the Sun, even though everyone else believed the opposite. Great people are not afraid to think differently.
Third, stay focused on your goals. Chen Wangdao was so concentrated on translating The Communist Manifesto that he didn't even notice he was eating ink. 3 When you are working on something important, give it your full attention.
4 Tu Youyou did hundreds of experiments before she found the right method. Many of her early tests failed, but she never gave up. Remember: every failure brings you one step closer to success.
Finally, always keep people in mind. Wang Zhenyi rewrote old-fashioned science texts so that ordinary people could understand them. 5 The greatest achievements are those that help the most people.
A.If you want to achieve something great, you must be willing to fail.
B.Curiosity is the first step toward greatness.
C.Fleming only cared about his own fame and success.
D.Her goal was not fame—it was to share knowledge.
E.Many great discoveries were made by people who dared to question the old way of thinking.
F.When you have a clear purpose, nothing can distract you.

B“Curiosity is the first step toward greatness.”
2.该段首句提出建议“Second, be brave enough to challenge old ideas”,说明第二点是勇于挑战旧观念。 E“Many great discoveries were made by people who dared to question the old way of thinking.”
3.该段首句提出建议“Third, stay focused on your goals”,说明第三点是专注于目标。 F“When you have a clear purpose, nothing can distract you.”
A“If you want to achieve something great, you must be willing to fail.”
5.前一句提到“Wang Zhenyi rewrote old-fashioned science texts so that ordinary people could understand them”,说明王贞仪改写陈旧的科学文本以便普通人能够理解。 D“Her goal was not fame—it was to share knowledge.”
Passage 2
Siblings (兄弟姐妹) can be your best friends ... and also your biggest headaches! Maybe you fight over toys, share a room, or want the same cookie. That’s natural. 1
But there are ways to make things better!
Talk about it
2 Use your words. You can say, “I didn’t like it when you grabbed that toy.” Talking and listening help solve problems faster.
Take a break
If you’re really unhappy, it’s OK to walk away for a while. Take deep breaths. Get a drink. Draw or read. 3
Find the good
Even if your siblings are annoying, they might also be fun or kind. Maybe they made you laugh or helped you once. Try to see the good things. It helps you feel less angry.
4
If things feel too hard or someone gets hurt, talk to an adult. Parents, teachers, or caregivers can help you feel better.
Be the kind one
Say something nice. Help clean up. Give a hug or say sorry first. A small kind act can end a big fight.
5 But learning to handle fights the right way makes you stronger, kinder, and closer to your siblings.
A.Ask a grown-up
B.Don’t shout or stay mad.
C.All families argue sometimes.
D.Wait for the problem to go away
E.All brothers and sisters have problems sometimes.

Passage 3
In life, we sometimes have disagreements with others. When this happens, what matters most is stopping a calm talk from turning into a heated argument. 1 Here are some helpful ways for you.
First, the way you start the conversation is very important. Imagine you are a student sharing a flat with another student. 2 If you say “Look! You never do your share of the housework. What are we going to do about it?”, the discussion will very quickly turn into an argument. It’s much more helpful to say something like, “I think we should take another look at how we divide the housework. Maybe there’s a better way to do it.”
3 This is the easiest and best way to avoid an argument. Just apologize to your flatmate and move on. The other person will have more respect for you in the future if you do that.
Third, if you feel that an argument is getting out of control, you can say to the other person, “ 4 You can continue the talk later after cooling off.”
Arguing is not always bad. Conflict (冲突) is a normal part of daily communication. 5
A.But of course this is easier said than done.
B.You think she hardly does her share of the housework.
C.Dealing with it is an important part of any relationship.
D.Second, if you’re the person in the wrong, just admit it!
E.We should never put off solving problems with our flatmates.
F.I’d rather talk about this tomorrow when we both feel less angry.
1.A 2.B 3.D 4.F 5.C

5.上文“Conflict is a normal part of daily communication.” C“Dealing with it is an important part of any relationship.”
Passage 4
Lots of people have noticed that teenagers are spending more time on their phones than before. 1 They say the unhealthy information on the phone may be harmful to the teenagers. Besides, they are concerned that teenagers might waste a lot of their precious time on their phones.
Dr. Elizabeth Dowell has recently pointed out that teens should stop using their phones sometimes after doing an experiment. In the experiment, she required two teenagers to obey a rule. 2 The rule could only be broken when they needed them for their schoolwork.
Before handing in their phones as required by the experiment, both of the teenagers saw the experiment as a big challenge. They couldn’t imagine how they could live without their phones. 3 However, their responses after the 48-hour phone-free time were unexpected. Both of them said life with no phone was not as difficult as they thought. 4 According to them, without those phone messages, they felt less stressed and had more free time. As a result, they had more sleep, did more exercise and talked more with their family.
5 Maybe it has some other advantages waiting for us to discover.

Passage 5
When we talk about overcoming (克服) failure to succeed, who will you think of? 1 He was one of America’s most famous inventors. Today, thanks to Thomas Edison, we can freely use electricity at night.
Success, in fact, didn’t come to Thomas Edison so easily. Just as Thomas Edison said, “I have not failed 10,000 times — I’ve successfully found 10,000 ways that didn’t work.” 2
One of his first failures was his automatic vote recorder When he showed that to officials, they refused to use it. From then on, he decided not to make inventions that didn’t have a market. 3 Again, his invention was refused because people kept meeting problems with its batteries.
After that Edison had more inventions before he found the right material (材料) for the light bulb.
In 1879, light bulbs were already invented. 4 He was able to create a product that was useful for everyone and was produced at the lowest cost because the filament (灯丝) he used was good, cheap and easy to get. It was after 6,000 tests of possible materials that Edison’s team was able to find a right one.
5 All of us should learn from him. And we must believe that failure is the mother of success.

Passage 8
If young kids are asked to add numbers together, they will probably count on their fingers to find the answer. Some parents may get annoyed by their children’s behaviour and try to stop them. But a new study has found this behaviour is helpful to children. 1
Researchers followed around 200 children from age 4 to age 7. Every six months, they checked the kids’ maths skills and finger use one by one. 2 They also recorded whether it was a new habit of the kids or something they had been doing for some time.
In the study, almost all the children were found to use their fingers to do calculations at some point. 3 These children were also found to be better at Maths one year later.
This new study suggests that there is a close connection between early finger use and better Maths skills. 4 That’s because researchers carried out a lot of studies in the past. But the results showed children who didn’t use their fingers did better at Maths. 5 They did badly in Maths when they were 7. And the children who started using their fingers at the age of 6 did worse than those who used fingers from a young age.
So next time you see your younger brothers or sisters count with their fingers, don’t stop them. For their Maths skills in the future, you should encourage them instead.
A.This discovery is very important.
B.It can actually help them develop their Maths skills.
C.In fact, 12 children never used their fingers in the study.
D.Many parents paid attention to the results of the study.
E.Most of them stopped using their fingers when they were 6.
F.They recorded whether the kids used their fingers to add numbers together.
1.B 2.F 3.E 4.A 5.C

E项“Most of them stopped using their fingers when they were 6.”
A项“This discovery is very important.”
C项“In fact, 12 children never used their fingers in the study.”
Passage 9
It’s normal to feel nervous before a test. But sometimes, this nervous feeling can become very strong. You might feel sick, get a headache, or feel very scared or sad. This is called test anxiety (忧虑). 1
Dealing with test anxiety is important — it’s even been found that students with greater test anxiety get lower grades than those who have less anxiety. Researchers in Turkey wanted to see if there was a simple way to help students with this feeling. They were under a lot of pressure to do well in the exam to get into the best high schools, which would then help them get into top universities.
For the study, 162 eighth-grade students in two different middle schools were introduced to a breathing exercise program three months before the exam. 2 Twice a week over eight weeks, the students were led through a 15- to 20-minute program of breathing exercises, which they did before school. The program included things like using the diaphragm (隔膜) to take deep breaths or doing the “lion’s breath” from yoga. 3
Before and after the program, the students completed a test that scored their levels of anxiety. 4 This shows that breathing exercises at school can help students feel less nervous before big tests. It’s simple and doesn’t cost much.
So, if you have a test coming up and you feel worried, take a deep breath — it’s a simple trick that works! 5
A.Researchers found that their anxiety scores dropped by 11%.
B.The program was used to help them relax and control their pressure.
C.Students were also taught ways to stop scary or stressful thoughts.
D.Give it a try, and you might be surprised by how much it helps!
E.Many students didn’t believe breathing exercises would work at first.
F.Test anxiety can surely do harm to a student’s performance and health.
1.F 2.B 3.C 4.A 5.D
F项“Test anxiety can surely do harm to a student’s performance and health.”
B项“The program was used to help them relax and control their pressure.”
C项“Students were also taught ways to stop scary or stressful thoughts.”
A项“Researchers found that their anxiety scores dropped by 11%.”
D项“Give it a try, and you might be surprised by how much it helps!”
Passage 10
We have a saying that “filial piety (孝敬) is the most important of all virtues (美德).” This shows how important it is for Chinese people to respect and take care of their parents. In China, filial piety has been a key value for thousands of years, shaping how families live and how society works.
1 They feed us, take care of us, and teach us right from wrong. It’s only natural that we should feel grateful and want to repay them for their love and care. For teenagers, filial piety means trying to make parents happy, whether it’s through small actions or bigger efforts.
In China, students often express filial piety in meaningful ways. For example, they help wash their parents’ feet, cook meals for them, or write heartfelt thank-you cards. These small gestures may seem simple, 2 By doing these things, we make our relationship with our parents closer, which is good for both our families and ourselves.
Confucius (孔子), the great Chinese philosopher, believed that filial piety goes beyond just loving your parents. He taught that if everyone is good to their parents, they will also be kind and respectful to others. 3 Then we could bring peace to the world. I think this is a brilliant idea. It means that filial piety is not only about loving your parents, 4
To me, filial piety is something we should practise for our whole lives. We can show it by being there for our parents when they feel lonely, helping them with housework, or giving money when needed. These actions show true kindness and love. 5 —it’s also the foundation of a better society.
A.but they carry deep love and thankfulness.
B.but about loving everyone!
C.Our parents do so much for us.
D.Filial piety is the most important virtue.
E.This kindness can stop fights and bring peace to society.
F.Let’s remember that being good to our parents is not just a duty
1.C 2.A 3.E 4.B 5.F
第二段空格后一句紧接着说“They feed us, take care of us, and teach us right from wrong.”,这里的“They”指代的是复数名词且是能照顾我们的人。选项C“Our parents do so much for us.”
A“but they carry deep love and thankfulness.”
3.第四段空格前“He taught that if everyone is good to their parents, they will also be kind and respectful to others.”提到孔子认为对父母好的人也会对他人友善,空格后提到“Then we could bring peace to the world.”。选项E“This kindness can stop fights and bring peace to society.”
4.第四段空格前“filial piety is not only about loving your parents”中的“not only”通常与“but (also)”搭配。选项B“but about loving everyone!”与前文构成了完整的“not only ... but ...”
5.第五段空格后是破折号连接的解释说明内容“it’s also the foundation of a better society”,其中“also”暗示前文应该有“not just/only”之类的表述。选项F“Let’s remember that being good to our parents is not just a duty”中的“not just”与后文的“also”完美对应。

姓名:___________班级:___________座号:___________
F.When you feel calm, it’s easier to solve the problem.
A.Instead, it turned out to be helpful.
B.In addition, phones bring people lots of fun.
C.And they also worried that they might feel lonely.
D.However, experts are showing their worries about this.
E.The experiment shows that life without phones actually brings good things.
F.That is, they mustn’t use their phones, computers or the Internet for 48 hours.
A.How great Thomas Edison was!
B.Most of us may first think of Thomas Edison.
C.The second invention he thought of was battery-powered.
D.He thought of failure as an opportunity to learn and do better.
E.It was Edison who made light bulbs available for everyone.
F.His early failures didn’t stop him from changing the world.
Passage 6
Mother’s Day is a special day for honoring mothers worldwide. It falls on different days across the world. In the United States, it is on the second Sunday of May. In Norway, it is on the second Sunday of February. 1
Mother’s Day can date back to ancient Greece, where the festival of Rhea, the mother of the gods, was celebrated in mid-March. In the United States, Mother’s Day was first celebrated in 1908. Anna Jarvis was the woman who came up with the idea of Mother’s Day. 2 Though it was first celebrated in the United States, International Mother’s Day is now a universal celebration across all countries.
Mother’s Day holds an important place in people’s hearts. Everyone agrees that mothers make great contributions to their families. They raise their children and give them love and support. 3 Mother’s Day gives people a chance to express their thanks and love to their mothers for their mothers’ love, care, and guidance.
4 Some of them give flowers and gifts to their mothers. Some cook a special meal for their mothers. Some even take their mothers on a trip. No matter what people do, they are trying to show their mothers how much their mothers mean to them. 5
A.In Sweden, it is on the last Sunday of May.
B.However, they never ask for anything in return.
C.Today, people celebrate Mother’s Day in many ways.
D.She wanted a day to honor her mother, who had died.
E.Mother’s Day has a long history and different dates around the world.
F.It’s a warm way to pass down love and gratitude in families.
Passage 7
Family traditions are the practices and customs that are passed down from one generation to the next. 1 They help us feel connected to our family and our roots. Here are some common family traditions from around the world.
Holiday celebrations
Many families have special traditions for holidays like Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Chinese New Year. 2 For example, in some families, everyone gathers together to make dumplings on Chinese New Year’s Eve. In other families, they go to church together on Christmas morning.
Birthday traditions
Birthdays are special occasions, and most families have their own ways of celebrating them. 3 Some families have a special birthday cake every year, while others give a special gift that has been passed down through the family.
Weekly traditions
Some families have traditions that happen every week. 4 For example, some families have a big dinner together every Sunday. Others have a family game night every Friday. These weekly traditions help families stay connected even when everyone is busy.
Travel traditions
Many families have a tradition of taking a trip together every year. 5 These trips create wonderful memories that the whole family will cherish forever.

B.They are an important part of family life.
C.These traditions often involve food, family gatherings, and special activities.
D.Some families have a special song or dance that they do on birthdays.
E.These traditions are usually very expensive and difficult to keep.
F.These traditions help families spend quality time together on a regular basis.

C.Students were also taught ways to stop scary or stressful thoughts.
D.Give it a try, and you might be surprised by how much it helps!
E.Many students didn’t believe breathing exercises would work at first.
F.Test anxiety can surely do harm to a student’s performance and health.
