(4)固定搭配频繁出现:look after、once a week、be based on、be worth doing、spend time doing 等。
(4)介词与连词(约 10 题):by、without、Though、Instead 等。
(5)非谓语动词(约 8 题):spend time doing、be worth doing、keep trying 等。
(6)代词与固定短语(约 6 题):him、either、look after、once a week 等。
【点拨1】主谓一致与三单——以 Passage 1 题 3 为例:原文写道“When I come back home from school”,主语 he 是第三人称单数,且 always 表明是习惯性动作,因此动词 run 要加 -s 写作 runs。
【点拨2】名词与固定短语——以 Passage 2 题 3 为例:原文写道“most people around us are of medium”,后面接 and medium build,与 build(体型)并列的必然是“身高”,故填 height。of medium height / of medium build
【点拨3】副词修饰动词——以 Passage 3 题 2 为例:原文写道“speak clearly so they can understand you”,空处修饰动词 understand,必须用副词;结合首字母 e 与“说清楚—听得懂”的因果,填 easily。
【点拨4】现在完成时——以 Passage 3 题 9 为例:原文写道“After the talk, you might feel happy because you’ve”,you’ve 是 you have 的缩写,其后必须接过去分词,结合首字母 m 与“建立联系”的搭配 make a connection,填 made。看到 have / has / ’ve,先锁定过去分词。
【点拨5】名词单数与语境——以 Passage 4 题 3 为例:原文写道“The old lady thanked them warmly and said”,引号内是“You boys make a wonderful …”,a 之后接单数可数名词,且前文两人合力搬袋子,故填 team。
【点拨6】副词与否定补充——以 Passage 5 题 5 为例:原文写道“met many rich men, but all of them said they were not happy”,not happy 后需要一个表示“也(不)”的词收尾,结合首字母 e 填 either。
【点拨7】让步连词——以 Passage 6 题 6 为例:原文写道“it is a small improvement, it solves a big problem”,前后是“改进很小”与“解决大问题”的让步对比,结合首字母 T 填 Though,且位于句首须大写。
【点拨8】非谓语固定结构——以 Passage 8 题 4 为例:原文写道“doing many experiments with different things”,前面是 He spent many years,spend time (in) doing sth 是固定结构,故填 trying。
• 忌“名词单复数随意”:a / an 后接单数,these / some / many 后接复数。
• 忌“固定搭配记混”:look after(照顾)、be based on(基于)、be worth doing(值得做)要成组记忆。

A good conversation n 4 both speaking and listening. Try to be a kind listener and show you care about their ideas. If you feel n 5 at first, take a deep breath and relax yourself. You can share small stories about your life, but don’t talk only about yourself—ask them q 6 too.
Avoid talking about personal things like family arguments unless they bring it up. If the topic becomes boring, you can c 7 it to something more interesting, like a new book or a funny video. Remember to keep a smile and make eye contact—these small a 8 will make the chat enjoyable.
After the talk, you might feel happy because you’ve m 9 a connection. With practice, you’ll get better at communicating and find that talking to others is not as hard as you think. So next time, don’t be a 10 to start a chat—it could lead to a new friendship.
Passage 4
Jack and Peter have been neighbours since childhood. At first, they did not get along well because they had d 1 hobbies. Jack loved painting while Peter was crazy about basketball. They seldom spoke to each other.
One rainy afternoon, Jack was walking home from school when he saw an old lady struggling to carry heavy bags. He ran to help, but the bags were too heavy for one person. Just then, Peter came by and o 2 to help without hesitation. Together, they carried the bags all the way to the old lady’s house.
The old lady thanked them warmly and said, “You boys make a wonderful t 3 .” Jack and Peter looked at each other and smiled. That day, they discovered that kindness was something they had in c 4 .
Since then, they have become close friends. Jack has learned some basketball s 5 from Peter, and Peter has tried painting with Jack’s guidance. They often say that their friendship is b 6 on shared kindness rather than shared interests.
Last week, Peter made a m 7 in an important exam and felt very upset. Jack did not laugh at him. I 8 , he encouraged Peter to keep trying. Peter was so t 9 that he wrote in his diary: “A true friend is someone who s 10 with you not only in happy moments but also in hard times.”
Passage 5
Once upon a time there was a rich man in England. He had a lot of money, but he felt u 1 all the time.
One day he went to see an old man to ask about happiness. The old man had a look at him, shook his head and said n 2 .
Finally, the rich man left h 3 to look for happiness. He v 4 many places, met many rich men, but all of them said they were not happy e 5 .
On his way home, the rich man saw a farmer w 6 in the fields. He went up to the farmer and asked, “ Could you tell me if you feel happy?” “Yes, I’m quite happy, “ the farmer answered. “Please tell me how you have found happiness, “asked the rich man. The farmer answered with a s 7 on his face, “That’s very easy. If you work h 8 , have three meals a day and go to bed early w 9 any worry, you’ll be the h 10 man in the world. “
Passage 6
Everyone knows how hot summer is in Nanjing. A warm little story recently won lots of praise online. Some street cleaners in Nanjing received cooling vests with small fans. With temperatures over 40℃, they no longer have to f 1 against extreme heat by themselves.
At first sight, the cooling vest looks s 2 to common working vests. It has bright yellow cloth and reflective strips to keep workers s 3 . But if you look closely, you will find one quite small fan on each side of the vest. When the fans work, they pull outside air into the vest. The air flows upward and speeds up the evaporation of sweat. In this way, workers feel m 4 cooler. The fans get power from a portable power bank inside the vest’s pocket. A full charge can work for three to four hours. Workers can recharge it during lunch and keep using it in the afternoon.
More than 20 such vests were handed out in Xuanwu District before the hot season. Street cleaners working on sunny roads like Jiming Temple Road were the f 5 to try them out. Workers who wore the vests shared: “I finally don’t need to wear sticky clothes covered with salt marks.”
The story drew public attention for a simple reason. T 6 it is a small improvement, it solves a big problem. Street cleaners work outdoors in strong sunlight and face high risks of heatstroke. In the past, governments o 7 water and medicine. However, cooling vests directly deal with workers’ uncomfortable body feelings. Care changes from short-time comfort to all-day protection.
Nearly all people online spoke highly of this idea. Many hoped the vests could be used across the country. Some said technology should serve common workers. One sentence spread quickly: How a city treats its workers shows its level of civilization.
Still, the vests have practical p 8 to solve. Will the power last long enough? Who will repair them? Can cities afford the cost? People need to find answers. Even so, it is surely w 9 praising for taking this first step.
The warmth of a city lies in the kindness shown to every common person. A small vest c 10 great respect for workers. We hope this cool wind can reach more cities and more outdoor workers.
Passage 7
Tom’s dream is to use t 1 to make people’s lives better and protect the environment. He loves creating new things with it and often does small experiments at home. Last month, he won a small prize for his new invention at school—a useful tool designed for environmental protection. He decided to test out this small machine with Lily in the park.
Early last Saturday morning, they met at the bus stop o 2 the library. Tom took a packet with gloves, rubbish bags and the new invention—a small machine he made—that could help pick up rubbish e 3 . “This invention is so c 4 !” Lily said happily. They planned to clean up the park near the community, as they often saw rubbish and dirty bottles there, which gave off a s 5 smell. What’s more, they knew such rubbish would bring r 6 to both people’s health and the environment, so they hoped to do something to change it.
When they arrived at the park, they put on gloves and started working. Tom used his small machine to clean rubbish under the trees, while Lily collected plastic bottles in the bag. The small machine saved them a lot of time and effort. A passer-by who was walking past the park noticed their s 7 tool and the clean-up work, then came over to help happily.
During the work, they talked about how to r 8 pollution. Lily added that they should also a 9 using too many plastic bags. They all agreed that everyone has the r 10 to protect the environment, and smart inventions can make the job easier.
By noon, the park became clean and tidy. Though they were tired, they felt very happy. Tom realized that his small invention and their small actions could make a big difference. He decided to keep working on new inventions to help more people live in a better world.
Passage 8
Cai Lun was known as one of the greatest inventors in ancient China during the Han Dynasty. He c 1 the world by creating paper. Before his wonderful creation, people had to use heavy bamboo to w 2 .
When Cai Lun worked as an official (官员) in the Royal Palace, he noticed this big problem and d 3 to solve it. He spent many years t 4 doing many experiments with different things like tree bark (树皮), old clothes and fishing nets.
