Fast‑friends steps are a set of special questions. Scientists found that asking deep, thought‑provoking questions can make strangers feel close in a short time.
In the 1990s, scientists created these fast‑friends steps. Strangers discussed personal topics, such as “What would a perfect day be like for you?” After just 45 minutes’ talk, many participants felt surprisingly close to each other. Some of them still kept in touch later.
In 2024, some scientists in the Netherlands did new experiments. They wanted to know whether these meaningful questions could improve parent‑child relationships. During the experiment, parents didn’t make small talk about weather. Instead, they asked children deeper personal questions like “When was the last time you felt lonely?”
Before and after the talk, kids filled in questionnaires about feeling loved and supported. After only nine minutes of such deep conversations, children’s scores went up greatly. It showed they felt much closer to their parents.
Psychologists call this “self‑disclosure”. When people open hearts and share true thoughts and feelings, closeness grows quickly. Really close connections do not always need years. Sometimes they start from several meaningful questions.

I’m six. Mom gets me up in the middle of every night and carries me to the car. It’s time to make the donuts (甜甜圈). She lays me in a lawn chair in the back of the donut shop and covers me with her jacket before she gets to work with Dad. There, under her jacket and in the midst of all that hustle and bustle (喧嚣繁忙), I feel completely safe and loved. I get up and try to talk customers into playing Candy Land with me before I catch the bus for school. I get to take donuts for snack time. I’m everyone’s favourite snack-bringer. I learn about friends and nice music and that the way to anyone’s heart is through his or her stomach.
I’m ten. Mom takes me to the supermarket every day to get the ingredients (原料) for endless casseroles, meat loaves and fried chicken. I complain a lot. I learn about budgets (预算), and that all that stuff tastes better than I ever thought.
I’m twenty-eight. For my birthday, I ask my mom to finally show me the trick to her famous pies for which there is no recipe (菜谱). She shows me how to mix the ingredients for the crust, just as her mother showed her. She tells me that we’ll pre-bake these for cream pies. We mix eggs and double-boil pudding for hours. I learn that, no matter how detailed your notes are, nothing can replace practice and a natural talent, and that using my great-grandmother’s rolling pin (擀面杖), my maternal grandmother’s (外祖母的) recipes and my paternal grandmother’s (祖母的) pie pan while cooking with my mom creates a feeling of connection I can’t explain.
I’m thirty-one. I’m standing in my mother’s kitchen with her and my sister, my memories so thick I can hardly breathe. I’m helping her go through a lifetime of collected kitchen tools and home machines because she will move to a smaller home soon. Throw that away, sell this, keep that. Yes, sell all the modern plastic tools. But I will never give up those colourful glass mixing bowls, the silver cups, the old pie plates and baking dishes and cookie boxes from my childhood in the kitchen. With my mom. I learn that sooner or later, we all have to let go of the things, because the memories are now a part of who we are. But I also learn why my mom was always so happy in the kitchen. With her mom.
And now, no matter what happens, I’ve learned that my mom will always be with me in mine.
34.What makes the writer feel safe and loved in the donut shop?
A.She often brings donuts to friends for snack time.
B.She can eat donuts and listen to nice music in the shop.

36.What is the writer’s main purpose of writing this passage?

C.To show how cooking holds family memories and connections across time.
D.To ask readers to keep their old kitchen tools instead of buying plastic ones.

【导语】本文是一篇记叙文,作者以时间为线索,回忆了从六岁到三十一岁与母亲在厨房和甜甜圈店相处的经历,展现了烹饪如何承载家庭记忆与情感联结。
34.第一段提到:“She lays me in a lawn chair in the back of the donut shop and covers me with her jacket before she gets to work with Dad. There, under her jacket and in the midst of all that hustle and bustle, I feel completely safe and loved.”,父母在忙碌工作时仍把作者带在身边并细心照料,让作者感到安全和被爱。

四、还原句子(共4小题;每小题1.5分,满分6分)
For many teenagers, it’s hard to run away from the pressure to be perfect. They push themselves to get straight A’s, star on the sports field, present a perfect social media look, and even be the “best” friend or family member. 37 What they don’t always realize, however, is the bad effects this habit has on their mental health.
Perfectionism is not the same as going for excellence. 38 Going for excellence means enjoying the process of growing and accepting small failures as part of learning. Perfectionism, on the other hand, is controlled by fear and self-doubt. It is an all-or-nothing mindset (心态) that tells them “If I am not the best, I am a loser.” This fixed way of thinking easily leads to high levels of stress and nervousness.
One of the most harmful results of perfectionism is putting things off. The fear of not being perfect often stops teenagers from starting a task at all. They would rather avoid trying than face possible imperfection, creating a harmful cycle of avoidance. Thoughts like “If I can’t write the perfect paper, I won’t even start” become common, causing late work and increasing pressure.
39 It slowly breaks their ability to overcome difficulties. When every small mistake is seen as a shame, it is difficult to build healthy self-confidence. A low grade or negative comments can make them doubt their own value for a long time.
The good news is that teenagers can get out of the perfectionism trouble. Start by treating mistakes as necessary learning steps. 40 Instead of being hard on yourself for not being good enough, praise yourself for trying your best. Over time, you will feel lighter and more confident.
A.Everyone needs to learn from successful people.
B.Learn to accept “good” instead of always requiring “perfect”.
C.The key difference is how people look at progress and mistakes.
D.So why do parents push teenagers so hard in study and daily life?
E.Perfectionism can also hurt their confidence when facing problems.
F.They are taught that perfect performances make them popular and respected.
【答案】37.F 38.C 39.E 40.B
【导语】本文围绕青少年的完美主义问题展开,介绍了完美主义的危害,并给出了摆脱完美主义困扰的建议。
37.根据文章首段第一句“For many teenagers, it’s hard to run away from the pressure to be perfect.”可知,青少年承受着追求完美的压力,后文提到他们没意识到这种习惯对心理健康的负面影响,F项“They are taught that perfect performances make them popular and respected.”承接上文,说明青少年追求完美的原因,符合逻辑。
38.空格前一句“Perfectionism is not the same as going for excellence.”说明追求卓越和完美主义有所不同。C项“The key difference is how people look at progress and mistakes.”起到了承上启下的作用,点明了二者的核心区别,引出后文的具体对比内容。
39.根据后文“It slowly breaks their ability to overcome difficulties. When every small mistake…self-confidence.”可知,这一段讲述了完美主义对自信心的影响,E项“Perfectionism can also hurt their confidence when facing problems.”作为段落的主题句,概括了后文的核心内容,引出下文对自信心影响的具体说明。
40.空格前一句“Start by treating mistakes as necessary learning steps.”和后一句“Instead of being hard on yourself for not being good enough, praise yourself for trying your best.”都在给出摆脱完美主义的建议,B项“Learn to accept ‘good’ instead of always requiring ‘perfect’.”
The China Space Station (CSS) is a milestone in China’s space program. It was built by Chinese scientists and engineers through years of hard work. The station flies about 400 kilometers above the Earth and circles our planet every 90 minutes.
The space station has three main parts: the Tianhe core module, the Wentian lab module and the Mengtian lab module. It can hold three to six astronauts at a time. Astronauts living there do many kinds of scientific experiments, including studies on medicine, materials and space biology.
Life in the space station is different from that on Earth. Because there is no gravity, astronauts float around. They have special ways to eat, sleep and take showers. They also exercise for about two hours every day to keep their bodies strong.
Chinese astronauts also give space lectures from the station. So far, they have given several live lessons to students across China. Students can ask questions and learn about space science directly. These lectures have greatly increased teenagers’ interest in space exploration.
China welcomes international cooperation on the space station. Scientists from other countries can also do experiments there. The CSS is not only China's achievement but also a platform for all human beings to explore space together.
41.How far is the China Space Station above the Earth?
42.How many main parts does the space station have?
43.Why do astronauts exercise every day in the space station?
44.Do you want to visit the China Space Station in the future? Why or why not?
【答案】41.About 400 kilometers. 42.Three. 43.To keep their bodies strong. 44.Yes, I do. Because I want to experience the amazing life in space and learn more about space science.(开放题,言之有理即可)
