Passage1(课内同源:两个社团之间)
It was club selection week at Sunshine Middle School, and Chen Mo could not decide. The art club met on Wednesdays, and the basketball club trained on the same afternoon. He loved drawing, and he also loved the feeling of running on the court. For three nights, he turned the choice over in his mind, but each club seemed to shine brighter than the other. / On Thursday, his friend Liu Yang asked, “Why not visit both clubs first?” So Chen Mo went to the art room, where the teacher was showing how to mix colours, and then to the playground, where the team was practising fast breaks. The painting room sounded quiet and slow; the basketball practice sounded exciting and loud. / That evening, Chen Mo made a list of what he wanted: to learn something new, to make friends and to enjoy every meeting. He asked himself which club would give him more of these things. Painting, he realised, was something he could enjoy alone at any time, but team sports needed a club and teammates. / The next morning, Chen Mo handed in his form for the basketball club with a calm heart. “I made a choice, and I will not regret it,” he told Liu Yang. Choosing, he found, is not about picking the perfect answer, but about knowing what really matters and then moving forward bravely.

Passage2(课外同源:果酱摊上的心理学)
In 2000, psychologists Sheena Iyengar of Columbia University and Mark Lepper of Stanford University carried out a famous experiment in a supermarket. They set up a table of jams and quietly watched how shoppers behaved. / One day, the table offered twenty-four different jams, and a crowd gathered. Nearly everyone stopped to taste, and many said the choice was wonderful. On another day, the same table offered only six jams. Fewer people stopped, and some walked past without a single look. / The surprising part came at the money box. Shoppers who had seen the big display of twenty-four jams bought very little — only about three percent of them took a jar home. Among those who saw six jams, about thirty percent bought one, roughly ten times more. / The lesson changed how people think about choice. Having many options seems attractive, but too many choices can make deciding hard, and we may walk away with nothing. Next time you feel lost in a sea of choices, remember the jam table: sometimes six good options are better than twenty-four.
任务一:单项选择
1.Who carried out the jam experiment?
A.Two supermarket managers. B.Iyengar and Lepper. C.Twenty-four jam makers. D.Six shoppers.
