Passage1(课内同源:班级的“绿色一周”行动)
Last Monday, our class started a programme called “Green Week”. Our teacher showed us some numbers: a school with fifty classes wastes thousands of kilowatt-hours of electricity every year, simply because lights and computers are left on in empty classrooms. / The class made three rules together. First, the last student to leave the classroom must turn off the lights and the computers. Second, we use paper on both sides before we recycle it. Third, everyone brings his own cup instead of buying bottled water. A list of names went round the classroom, and every student wrote his name under the three rules. / At first, some students kept forgetting. So the class chose four “green monitors”. Their job was to check the classroom after each lesson and to remind the forgetters kindly, not to laugh at them. Little by little, switching off the lights became a habit. In the second week, our classroom used much less electricity than before, and the school put a green star beside our class name on the noticeboard. / “I used to think saving the earth was a job for scientists,” said Wang Lei, one of the monitors. “Now I know it begins with small things around us — a light, a piece of paper and a bottle.” At the end of the term, five other classes copied our three rules. A green action, it seems, can really spread.

Passage2(课外同源:地球一小时)
At half past eight on the last Saturday of March, the lights of famous buildings go dark in cities around the world. This is Earth Hour, one of the biggest environmental activities on the planet. / Earth Hour was started by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in 2007. That year, in Sydney, Australia, about 2.2 million homes and businesses turned off their lights for one hour to show their care about climate change. The simple idea soon travelled around the world. Today, people in more than 180 countries and areas take part in it every year. / During the hour, people do more than sit in the dark. Families light candles and tell stories; friends take night walks; some cities hold concerts under the stars. The goal is not to save electricity for just sixty minutes, but to make people think about how much energy they use every day. As WWF says, the hour is “a moment of hope” for the planet. / Many students now join Earth Hour in their own way. They turn off not only the lights but also the TV and the Wi-Fi, and they promise to carry the habit into ordinary days. One hour is short, but if millions of people remember to save a little energy every day, the earth will feel the difference.

任务四范文:Protecting the environment is not far away from us. At school, I always turn off the lights and the computer when the classroom is empty. I also use paper on both sides and put the used paper into the recycling box. At home, I bring my own cup instead of buying bottled water, and I never waste food. Last month, I took part in the Earth Hour with my family, and we spent a happy hour without lights. Small actions like these can make a big difference. If everyone starts with the little green things around us, our world will become more beautiful.
