Learning can be exciting when you follow your curiosity! Scientists say curious students enjoy studying more, and they can find ways to make school subjects more enjoyable. Here are three easy ways to start with.
Ask questions. Always ask "why" when you learn something new. If you study physics, wonder why light travels faster than sound. When learning Chinese, ask why Tang poems remain so popular in modern China. Questions make learning more active and help you understand better. Franklin, the famous American inventor, was exactly this kind of learner.
Connect lessons to real life. Find out how school subjects are part of your life. Maths helps when you are shopping. English is useful when you travel abroad. Geography can explain weather changes and the environment around us. When you find knowledge is practical, you will want to learn more.
Learn outside school. Join a community centre to learn a new sport. Visit museums to see what life was like in the past. Going to a park or a zoo allows you to watch plants and animals carefully while learning about them. Different ways of learning keep your brain excited.
Start with one way today. You will find learning useful, and you will also find it enjoyable. Remember, every subject becomes interesting when you are curious about it.
49. What do curious students do according to scientists?
A. They ask fewer questions. B. They enjoy studying more.
C. They get better grades in tests. D. They spend less time on homework.
50. Why does the writer mention Franklin in Paragraph 2?
A. To prove that physics is difficult to learn.
B. To show that Tang poems are still popular today.
C. To explain that asking questions helps people learn better.
D. To tell us that American inventors are cleverer than others.
51. What is the best title for this passage?

Several years ago, my parents bought some comic (漫画) books to help my elder brother relax. He wasn’t interested, but I thought they were great fun. These comics had all the things I liked best—good stories, clever drawings and comedies. I started drawing my own comics and now I have a blog where I put my works.
Drawing comics takes a lot of time, and I’m still in school. There’s a lot of schoolwork and it keeps me busy. Sometimes I draw during my breaks, but mainly I do it at home, where I can put on my headphones and focus. That’s when I get the most done. Fans sometimes contact me on my blog and it’s good to write back to them.
Last year, I went to a national youth comic festival. I found most other teenagers used computers to draw. Although I know how to do that and it can help me save time, I honestly would rather draw by hand. That’s how I began to draw.
Because of the success of my blog, there are articles about me in newspapers and magazines. I usually draw by myself, so I’m not used to all those! I was surprised when they called me the coolest teenager. Me? My friend would laugh at that! However, one amazing thing about it is that some of my comic-writing heroes have written to congratulate me on my success. I couldn’t feel better!
The next thing I need to do is to develop my art skills. I will go for a comic course in the school holidays.
52. Who was the comic books for?
A. The writer’s parents. B. The writer’s elder brother.
C. The writer himself. D. The writer’s comic-writing heroes.
53. Why does the writer finish most works at home?
A. Because he can pay attention to drawing.
B. Because he can get help from his parents.
C. Because he can contact his Fans on the blog.
D. Because he doesn’t want his classmates to know his works.
54. What does the underlined word “congratulate” in Paragraph 4 mean?
A. Laughing at someone. B. Giving someone a surprise.
C. Being patient with someone. D. Sending someone good wishes.
55. What’s the main idea of this article?
A. How to become a successful comic writer through a blog.
B. The history of comic books and how they influence teenagers.
C. A teenager’s experience of drawing comics and his growth in it.
D. The differences between hand-drawn comics and computer-drawn comics.

Can you imagine being able to borrow books from a library without having to return them?
The Civilian Mobile Library offers books for free. Readers are invited to take one book every 15 days. They are encouraged to pass it on to someone else once they’ve finished reading. And they don’t need to return the book.
The library is only seven square meters in size but houses thousands of books on different subjects. “It might be the smallest library in the world,” said Xu Dawei, the owner. “But in another sense, it’s also the biggest because the books keep moving.”
“I’ve read thousands of books,” Xu said. “Books have truly changed my life.” The idea of starting a library took shape in 2000, when Xu recommended online a list (清单) of his favorite books to readers, but many of them said they couldn’t find those books nearby. So he began sending his books to readers for free. “They all wrote me letters expressing their thanks. It encouraged me to take it farther, turning my book-gifting into a physical space,” Xu said.
“All the readers have to do is to come. Even if they finish a book and decide not to pass it on, at least the book helps them fall in love with reading. That’s what I dream of,” Xu smiled.
