(When / Why / How often / What)和主语(谁的事),再回文定位。
Some… Others…
细节题摘取原文关键信息,必要时转换人称(原文 I → 答案 He/She);原因题用 Because…;方式题用 By doing…;多点题用 and 或 First… Second…
【点拨1】时间细节(问 When,答时间点)——以Passage 2 题 1 为例:原文 “Oct. 10th is World Mental Health Day.” 一句直接给出日期,问 When 就用 It is on Oct. 10th.
【点拨2】频率细节(问 How often,答频率)——以Passage 7 题 1 为例:原文 “Every Tuesday afternoon, students attend a 90-minute workshop.” 或 Once a week.。提示:How often 的答案必须是“频率”(every day / once a week / every Tuesday afternoon),不能答成时间点(at 3 p.m.)
Some… Others… 要数清)——以Passage 1 题 1 为例:原文 “Some students visit the old people’s home to chat with the elderly and help clean their rooms.” Some students work in the city library…、Others plant small pine and bamboo trees…,共三项活动,答案必须三项都写:They visit the old people’s home, work in the city library and plant small pine and bamboo trees in the community park.
【点拨4】原因题(Why 用 Because 开头)——以Passage 6 题 1 为例:原文 “they want to feel welcome and part of the group” 紧跟在 Many young people follow their peers because… Because they want to feel welcome and part of the group.
【点拨5】词义解释题(抄定义句,别自己下定义)——以Passage 3 题 1 为例:原文 “It means slowing down and thinking honestly about your own behaviour, feelings and decisions after something has happened.” 提示:问 What does X mean 时,原文一定有一句“… means …”
【点拨6】带词数限制的题(先完整后压缩)——以Passage 4 题 1 为例:题干要求不超过 5 个词,原文 “A leaf in the way was a big problem” 里真正回答“什么挡住去路”的只有 A leaf,故答案写 A leaf.。 A leaf in the way 写成五个词就已经到顶,再加 any 或修饰语就超了。
Will you give up hope easily…,答案先明确回答 No, I won’t.,理由可以直接借用原文 “Pang’s journey shows us that we can live up to what others expect of us and create our own bright future if we are strong and keep hope.” Because we can create our own bright future if we are strong and keep hope.
【点拨8】建议类开放题(要具体、可操作)——以Passage 2 题 3 为例:题干问赵新还能做什么来减压,原文已给出 “I can also try to have a balanced diet and get more exercise.”,答题时可以在此基础上换成自己的建议,如 He can take up hobbies such as listening to music or doing sports to relax himself.,但必须落到“具体做法”。提示:What else / What should he do 这类题,答案要能直接照做;写 Be happy.、Don’t worry.
Some… Others…
Passage 1
Our School’s Volunteer Club
Our Grade 9 set up a volunteer club at the start of this term. The club helps students find small meaningful things to do in daily school life. Every weekend, club members take part in different volunteer activities. Some students visit the old people’s home to chat with the elderly and help clean their rooms. Some students work in the city library to organize books for readers. Others plant small pine and bamboo trees in the community park.
Our club teacher often tells us that we do not need great jobs to live meaningful lives. The volunteer work helps us understand that small acts of care can bring big warmth to society. We also share stories of role models like Fan Jinshi and Lei Feng in club meetings, to learn their spirits of quiet devotion.

Passage 3
Some people believe that self-reflection (自我反思) is a good habit for teenagers. What exactly is self-reflection? It means slowing down and thinking honestly about your own behaviour, feelings and decisions after something has happened.
Many teenagers are too busy with schoolwork. They spend most of their time doing homework or taking part-time after-school classes. They seldom stop to look back on what they have done. They just keep moving forward without thinking. However, self-reflection plays an important role in our growth.
When you reflect, you can see your weak points clearly. For example, you may find that you often lose your temper when you are under great pressure. Then you can try to find ways to control your moods. Besides, self-reflection also helps you know your advantages. You may realize you are good at organizing group activities. This will build up your confidence.
You do not need a long time for self-reflection. You can spend five to ten minutes every night before going to bed. You may ask yourself these simple questions: What did I do well today? What mistake did I make? What should I improve tomorrow?
Self-reflection will not bring quick changes to you. But if you keep doing it every day, little by little you will make great progress.
1.What does self-reflection mean?

Passage 4
Ants are everywhere. We usually feel angry with them. However, these little ones also teach us something.
Never give up.
Have you noticed that when something is in front of ants, they do not sit down or become sad? They just keep going.
One day, I watched a small ant taking a bug (小虫) back to its nest (巢穴). A leaf in the way was a big problem, but the ant didn’t give up. It tried very hard to work out a way. Finally, the ant got that bug over the leaf and into the nest.
Ask for help.
Think about it: have you ever seen an ant move something too big by itself? That never happens. When a load (负载) is too big, the ant signals (发信号) to the others for help.
Why don’t we do more of this? Sometimes, we are just too afraid to ask someone to share the load. Sharing can make our lives much easier.
Think winter in summer.
Ants know there are seasons. They collect food and build their nest all through the summer, even when they still have enough to eat. So when the cold days of winter come, the ants can stay in their warm nest and never worry about being hungry. They plan for their lives!
1.What got in the way of the ant when it was taking a bug?
_______________________________________________________________

Every Wednesday afternoon, students take part in different activities in the programme. They listen to speeches from people who have overcome great difficulties, and they also share their own stories of dealing with problems. “I used to give up easily when I met hard math problems,” said Wang Lin, a student in Grade 9. “But after joining the programme, I learned to try different ways and keep working on them. Now my math grades have improved a lot.”
The programme also has a “30-day Challenge” activity. Students choose a small goal and keep doing it for 30 days. I learned that I can do things that seem difficult if I hold on.”
Mr Wang, the teacher in charge of the programme, says that the goal of the programme is not to make students perfect. “We just want to help students understand that difficulties are normal in life,” he said. “The most important thing is to have the courage to face them and never give up easily. Passage 6
Have you ever agreed with your friends even when you didn’t want to? This often happens because of peer pressure Peer pressure is the influence from people in your same age group, and it is very common for teenagers. It can be direct, like a friend asking you to copy homework. It can also be indirect, like feeling you need to wear certain clothes to fit in.
Many young people follow their peers because they want to feel welcome and part of the group. They are afraid that saying “no” will make them look different or lead to being left out. However, this can put them in a difficult situation. They may feel stressed and unhappy because they are not being themselves.
So, how can we deal with peer pressure in a smart way? Here are some steps you can follow:
First, take a breath and think. When you feel pushed to do something, don’t answer immediately. Ask yourself: “Is this safe?” “Is this right for me?”
Second, plan your words. It’s easier to say “no” when you know what to say. You can be direct and say, “No, thanks. I’m not comfortable with that.” You can also give a simple reason like, “My parents would be really upset,” or suggest a different idea, such as studying together instead of copying homework.
Finally, find your people. Spend more time with friends who share your values and respect your choices. True friendship should be based on respect, not on pressure.
Remember, learning to handle peer pressure is a part of growing up. By being true to yourself, you build a stronger sense of self and healthier, happier friendships.
1.Why do some young people follow their peers?
_______________________________________________________________
2.What steps does the passage suggest to deal with peer pressure?
_______________________________________________________________
3.In your opinion, which way is better to deal with peer pressure, following others or saying “no”? Why?
_______________________________________________________________
1.Because they want to feel welcome and part of the group. 2.First, take a breath and think. Second, plan your words. Finally, find your people. 3.In my opinion, it is better to say ‘no’. Because it can help us avoid making mistakes.

Second... Finally...”具体说明,即“take a breath and think”“plan your words”“find your people”,属于原文直接提取。
Passage 7
At Sunshine Middle School, a special programme called “Discover You” has become very popular among Grade 9 students. The programme, which started two years ago, aims to help students understand their personalities and explore possible career paths.
Every Tuesday afternoon, students attend a 90-minute workshop. In the workshop, they take personality quizzes, discuss the results with classmates, and listen to guest speakers from different professions. “I used to think I was just a shy person with no special talent,” said Li Hua, a student who joined the programme last year. “But through the activities, I discovered that I’m actually very good at organizing things and paying attention to details. Now I’m thinking about becoming an event planner in the future.”
The programme also includes a “Job Shadowing Day,” when students spend a whole day following a professional at work. Last month, a group of students visited a local design company. They watched how designers worked, asked questions about the job, and even tried some simple design tasks themselves. “It was eye-opening,” said Zhang Wei, another participant. “I learned that being a designer requires not only creativity but also patience and good communication skills.”
Ms Chen, the teacher who created the programme, believes that knowing yourself is the first step to making good decisions about your future. “Many students feel pressured to choose a career path too early,” she said. “Our programme doesn't tell students what job they should do. Instead, it gives them a chance to discover their own strengths and interests. After all, the best career choice is one that matches who you really are.”
However, Ms Chen also reminds students that personalities can change. “Don’t be afraid if you don’t know exactly who you are right now. At your age, it’s perfectly normal. The important thing is to stay curious and keep exploring.”
1.How often do students attend the “Discover You” workshop?
_______________________________________________________________

For example, I used to be shy and afraid of speaking in public, but after taking part in many class activities, I have become more outgoing and confident.
2.根据原文第二段李华的表述“But through the activities, I discovered that I’m actually very good at organizing things and paying attention to details.”,可知她发现自己擅长组织事务、关注细节,直接提取信息。
Passage 8
On August 16, 2025, Pang Zhongwang, a doctoral student from Tsinghua University, won the “Touching China 2024” Award. His story, from a young man who fought against great hardships to an encouraging character, has warmed many hearts.
Born with great challenges, Pang lived a hard life when he was a child. His father has a serious mental illness. His mother’s legs were cut off, so she could hardly move. Pang himself had a heart problem since he was born. He went door to door to borrow money for his mother’s illness. He also picked up waste things to make money and help pay off his family’s debts. However, he never lost hope. He always believed “Knowledge can change my life.”
In 2017, Pang entered Tsinghua University with a very high score in the college entrance exam. At first, he was worried that he might let others down. But later, he found his interest in scientific research. He kept trying even when he failed many times. Although money was still a problem, he decided to depend on himself. That’s why he said no to people who raised money for him. Instead, he asked Tsinghua University for grants (补助金) and won prizes for good grades. His mother named him “Zhongwang”, and it means “the hope of everyone”. She always told him to look forward to the future. Pang once said,“Mum smiles every day, why should I feel sad?”

Now, Pang has written many important science papers and got patents (专利) for his inventions. His dream is to “serve the country through scientific research” and he works hard for this goal. His story lights the way for many people.
As the award speech says, “You leave your hard times behind. You face life with a smile and move forward strongly.” Pang’s journey shows us that we can live up to what others expect of us and create our own bright future if we are strong and keep hope.

At the end of each month, we write short articles about our volunteer experiences. We all learn that as long as we devote ourselves to helping others, our teenage life will be full of special meaning.

Passage 2
Children and teenagers are thought to be carefree. But studies, friends and family can all bring them stress. Oct. 10th is World Mental Health Day. There are two students talking about how they deal with the stress in their lives.
Yu Mingge, 14, Shanxi
I’m a boy. I feel sad because I’m the shortest kid in my class. I don’t feel confident about playing basketball. But being sad can not solve my problems. I can get help from my teachers. I can also try to have a balanced diet and get more exercise. I believe I can become taller next year.
Zhao Xin, 15, a boy from Beijing
I worry about my grades all the time, which makes me feel tired and sad. Having to say goodbye to my best friends soon is another thing that is making me sad: in the near future, we can’t watch basketball, drink milk tea and chat with each other. But what can I do? I have to face them. I’m trying to arrange my time and improve my efficiency (效率) when I’m studying. I’ve also talked with my parents, who have given me some tips. I’ve learned not to worry too much and just enjoy the present.
1.When is World Mental Health Day?

2.What can we know about ourselves through self-reflection?

2.Why don’t we ask others for help to share the load sometimes?

Passage 5
At Sunshine Middle School, a programme called “Strong Will” has been popular among Grade 9 students. The programme started three years ago, and it aims to help students develop persistence and learn to face difficulties bravely.
For example, some students choose to read for 20 minutes every day, and others choose to run one kilometre every morning. “It was hard at first,” said Zhang Hao, another student. “But when I finished the 30 days, I felt so proud of myself.
And this spirit will be helpful for their whole life.”
1.How often do students take part in the “Strong Will” programme activities?

2.What steps does the passage suggest to deal with peer pressure?

2.What did Li Hua discover about herself through the programme?

3.Do you agree with Ms Chen that “personalities can change”? Why or why not? Use your own experience or knowledge to support your answer.

Sadly, his mother passed away in 2020. That was just before he got the chance to study for a doctor’s degree at Tsinghua University.
