一、完形填空(共10小题;每小题1分,满分10分)
阅读下面短文,从各题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。
Last month, our class visited the City Memory Museum. I went there with my grandfather, who had brought an old notebook. When he opened it, a black-and-white photo fell out. It showed a dirt road and a narrow bridge near our village. “Life was rough then,” he said. “We used to walk for hours to sell corn. A short rain could mix up the tracks and make the journey even harder.”
I looked at the busy highway outside and could hardly imagine that past. Great changes have __1__ since the photo was taken. The old bridge has been replaced by a __2__ one, and a railway now links our village with the provincial capital. Local products reach faraway markets __3__. Many villagers are happy with the convenient transportation and their new housing.
Grandfather did not __4__ these facts in the notebook. Instead, he had written short notes beside small images. “Pictures help me __5__,” he explained. I asked him to retell the story while I recorded an audio file. At first, he forgot one or two names, but he did not feel any __6__. “Memory is not a perfect machine,” he said with a smile.
Back at school, I divided my project __7__ three parts: the road, the railway and family life. My teacher suggested adding a graph to show how travel time had decreased. She also gave me useful __8__ on my conclusion. Her __9__ helped me improve the report step by step. Now I keep the notebook in a safe position. It has taught me that development is not only about wider roads; it is also about the memories and wisdom one generation(一代人) __10__ for the next.

A The Train That Carries More Than Passengers
In Guizhou, two green-painted trains are bringing about changes in mountain villages. Wu Shoufen often takes Train No. 5639 from Jialao to Kaili with fresh vegetables. The 30-minute ride helps her reach city buyers. Without it, she would need to walk for an hour to catch a bus, and the higher travel cost would lower her income.
The train is slow, but its value is great. A carriage has become a place to show farm produce(农产品), so business sometimes starts soon after villagers board. Conductor(列车长) Hu Guichuan also created a WeChat group. Farmers post photos of their vegetables, and buyers order them online. The group has connected villagers, railway workers and city customers.
These services have not disappeared in the age of high-speed rail(高铁). More than 80 such trains still serve faraway areas across China. For visitors, they offer a close view of local life; for villagers, they provide a stable link to markets, education and family visits.

B A Scientist Who Protects Our Digital Life
When you use a bank card or create a password, you may benefit from the work of Wang Xiaoyun. The Chinese researcher studies cryptographic mathematics(密码数学), an area that helps keep digital information safe. In June 2025, she received a L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science International Award(欧莱雅—联合国教科文组织世界杰出女科学家奖) in Paris.
Wang's discoveries showed serious problems in some widely used methods for protecting information. Her work helped lead to new rules. Today, these rules are used in bank cards, computer passwords and online shopping systems. Although most people never see this kind of scientific work, it supports the safety of daily digital life.
The award honored not only a discovery but also a long scientific journey. Wang described it as an honor to the resilience(韧性) and wisdom of women scientists. She hopes that more young people will study this field, especially AI safety. In her view, scientific progress should help build systems that are safe for everyone.
Her story has inspired many female students to consider jobs in mathematics and information safety. Above all, it shows that an inspiring scientist does more than solve difficult problems: she also opens up a road for future learners.
16. What does Wang Xiaoyun study?
A. Desert soil. B. Ocean climate.
C. Cryptographic mathematics. D. Railway building.
17. What did Wang's work help lead to?

C. Many female students. D. City visitors.
C Green Barriers(屏障), Better Lives
In Jinta County, Gansu Province, a green belt is now more than 50 kilometres long along the edge of the Badain Jaran Desert. In the past, moving sand swallowed farmland and forced local people to move away. After more than twenty years of work, the desert is finally moving back.
The change has been brought about by long-term support, scientific methods and public effort. Forest-grass barriers protect soil, while roots help hold sandy land in place. Along the Hexi Corridor, 1,482 kilometres of such barriers have been built. New tools, including planting machines guided by BeiDou, are making the work more efficient.
However, the goal is not simply to plant as many trees as possible. Researchers choose methods that suit each place. In some places, trees grown for products and desert plants provide useful materials as well as protection. In other places, solar panels(太阳能电池板) produce power above, stabilize(使稳定) sand below and leave space for grass in between.
These projects also support local businesses. These trees in Gansu create jobs and income, so villagers can benefit while protecting their home. The lesson is clear: progress for the environment and human development do not have to move in opposite directions. With wisdom and patience, a man-made green wall can become both protection for farmland and a source of hope.
21. What problem did Jinta have in the past?
A. Moving sand swallowed farmland. B. Trains crossed green fields.
C. Villagers had no corn seeds. D. Solar panels covered farms.
22. How long is the green belt in Jinta County now?
A. About 20 kilometres. B. About 30 kilometres.
C. About 40 kilometres. D. More than 50 kilometres.
23. What can solar panels do according to Paragraph ③?
A. They can make trains faster. B. They can produce power and stabilize sand.
C. They can sell farm products. D. They can build new railways.
24. What do the trees in Gansu create for local people?
A. More free train tickets. B. More digital books.
C. Jobs and income. D. New passwords.
25. What does the passage mainly tell us?
A. Desert control needs no science. B. All deserts should become cities.
C. Trees can grow without water. D. Desert control can help both nature and local people.

阅读下面材料,按要求完成各项任务。
AI in the Classroom: A Tool, Not the Teacher
At Beijing No. 13 Secondary School, an AI system studies information from classroom activities, homework and short tests. It can produce different exercises for learners at different levels. However, teachers review and improve the material before it is used.
The system can find common learning gaps(学习薄弱点) and give teachers more time for guidance. At another school, a programming teacher says AI can finish the first check of students' programming work quickly. He then spends more time designing lessons and helping each learner.
AI also has limits. It may fail to judge certain kinds of writing or a student's reasoning(推理) process correctly. Therefore, schools should not simply take advantage of its speed while ignoring these weaknesses. Teachers still guide students' values(价值观), learning goals and personal growth.
The aim is not to create a one-size-fits-all digital classroom. Used wisely, AI can offer useful feedback and resources. But real education still depends on curious learners, caring teachers and active hands-on experiences.
36. What do teachers do before using AI-produced exercises?
37. 将第二段中的 'give teachers more time for guidance' 译为汉语。
38. What may AI fail to judge correctly according to Paragraph 3?
39. Who still guides students' values, learning goals and personal growth?
40. Would you like AI to help with your English learning? Give one reason.
