第二部分 阅读理解(共两节,满分37.5分)
第一节(共10小题;每小题2.5分,满分25分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。
A
Many of us suffer from a wish to be special. We usually assume that a special person is a better person and a special life is a better life. However, my experience has helped me to understand the high cost I have paid to be special: the extra time spent trying to impress others, the meals I was too tired to cook but I still cooked, the newspaper column that I just couldn’t stop working with...
I’ve been thinking about the cost a lot since becoming a mother. I know it is very natural to want our children to feel special, perhaps more special than others, so they can develop self-confidence. But I don’t think real self-confidence comes from being raised above others. It should come from being themselves and feeling loved for that in an ordinary way. It is not believing that they are the best and trying to be that. It is understanding that they have value for being them. It is very easy to give our children the impression that to be special, they need to try to be somebody else.
Perhaps the most valuable gift we can give them is the permission to be ordinary. Trying to be special or to live a special life can in reality take them further and further away from better ones. It can also lead them to lose sight of the precious moments of the life they are actually living.
Since I have become aware of this, I start to enjoy cooking simpler meals. I also feel much more freedom when writing this column. I feel less of a need to impress others than I used to. But now when I do feel that need, I can notice it and respond differently.
At first, it might be a little bit boring to be ordinary. Now I’ve grown much more aware of the beauty in ordinary moments I’m fortunate enough to experience each lovely day: my daughter’s playful smiles, the funny little sounds my cat makes late at night, among other small joys.
11. What does the underlined word “that” in Paragraph 2 refer to?
A. Paying a high price. B. Gaining self-confidence.
C. Being themselves. D. Trying to be special.
12. How does the author respond to the need to impress others now?
A. Occupy herself with her work. B. Try to react in a different way.
C. Keep working on her column. D. Turn her attention to her family.
13. What does the author say about her current life?
A. It is enjoyable. B. It is successful. C. It is stressful. D. It is boring.

As AI art generators (生成器) take the world by storm, some people wonder if their works should count as art at all. The technology is still developing and has some problems to solve, which means there are indeed weaknesses to consider alongside the incredible artwork a good artificial intelligence can produce.
Art is regarded as the product of imagination, skill, experience, and emotion, usually meant to represent something for the public to enjoy. Artists spent time and effort putting their inner worlds onto these works. Machine intelligence also puts a lot of work into sorting through tons of data, linking someone’s commands to datasets, and trying to represent it as best as possible. The difference is that the AI is driven by commands instead of an emotional desire to express itself.
AI painters can produce over 1,000 original works of art with every tap of the enter key on a keyboard. But a mass-produced print of the Mona Lisa is worth less than the actual Leonardo da Vinci’s painting. Why? Because it is rare — there’s only one of the original. Should anyone pay for these things? And if an artist puts AI masterpieces up for sale, what should the price be?
AI art involves a program mimicking (模仿) the work of existing artists to create a new piece according to the request of a human. But who made the artwork, the machine or its user? And can the original artists charge for the unfair use of their works? Such questions create difficulties for AI to work with the art industry, while more people argue against accepting AI-generated art as sale worthy artworks.
Once we’ve answered those questions, we can deal with the really big one: When an AI-generated painting wins an award, who gets the prize?
14. How is AI art different from human art?
A. It is the product of experience. B. It costs less money to produce.
C. It combines many styles of work. D. It does not reflect human emotion.
15. Why does the writer mention Mona Lisa in the third paragraph?
A. To highlight the fame of the original painting.
B. To compare AI painters with Leonardo da Vinci.
C. To present the potential problem with AI-art value.
D. To show the advantages of AI painters over humans.
16. What can we infer from paragraph 4?
A. AI art makes it unclear who owns a work.
B. AI helps artists produce more artistic works.
C. AI art promotes the sale of artistic products.
D. Original artists may get paid for their works.

More and more young people in China are spending their weekends in city parks — with a pair of binoculars (望远镜) instead of a phone. Birdwatching, once considered a hobby for older people, is quickly catching on among teenagers. On social media, short videos of city birds get millions of views, and some schools have even started birdwatching clubs.
“It started with a photo,” says Li Jia, a 16-year-old from Guangzhou. “A friend posted a picture of a small bird with blue feathers. I had never noticed birds like that, so I went to the park to look for one.” Two years later, she has recorded more than 120 kinds of birds in a notebook.
Young birdwatchers say the hobby is cheap and easy to begin. A pair of binoculars costs about 200 yuan, and parks are free. Better still, it gives them something screens cannot: a quiet mind. “When you are watching a bird, you forget about exams and messages for a while,” Li says. “You simply notice a small living thing.” Many say they sleep better after a morning outdoors.
The hobby is also good news for nature. Last spring, a group of students in Shenzhen photographed a kind of bird that had not been seen in the city for almost ten years. Their photos helped local researchers confirm the record — work that used to take years. “Young people have become our extra eyes in the field,” says Wang Lei, a biology teacher who leads weekend birdwalks. “They notice far more than we could alone.”
Not everyone can name the birds they see, and that hardly matters. As Wang puts it, “You don’t have to be an expert to enjoy nature. You only have to look up.” In cities where life moves fast, that may be the simplest way back to nature.
17. What made Li Jia take up birdwatching?
A. The picture of a blue bird. B. The school project on birds.
C. The request from a teacher. D. The bird missing for years.
18. What can we learn about birdwatching from paragraph 3?
A. It involves high cost to get started. B. It helps teens forget about all worries.
C. It is low-cost and mentally relaxing. D. It distracts teenagers from schoolwork.
19. What can young birdwatchers do for the research?
A. Count birds better than the experts. B. Provide evidence for bird records.
C. Replace the experts as extra eyes. D. Take bird photos for school clubs.
20. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. Teenagers are giving up their phones. B. More young people are visiting city parks.
C. Recording birds improves schoolwork. D. Birdwatching brings youngsters to nature.

“Wow, these trees are so tall!” William shouted excitedly, while walking with his classmates in a forest near his school. They were on a field trip to the forest as part of a science lesson.
Over there, they met the forester (护林人), Victor. When William learned Victor had been living for years in a simple wooden house with nothing but a few tools, he laughed at him with his friends.
Then, they passed by an entrance to a cave. William wanted to explore inside the cave, but his teacher didn’t allow it. “I’ll come back here,” he thought. On the way back to school, he remembered the exact location of the cave.
The next day, William asked his four friends to the cave together. They told their parents they would go to the library and return home in the evening. None of the teenagers told their parents about their plan to visit the cave.
When the teenagers reached the cave, they left their school bags outside to reduce the burden. One by one, they entered the cave. Just when they took a few steps inside, some rocks from the cave wall fell and blocked the entrance.
“How are we going to get out now?” one of the teenagers Sarah shouted. William had an idea and said, “Maybe we can try digging through the fallen rocks with our hands to reach the entrance.” But realizing getting out of the cave only by their hands was impossible, they had great fear. The sun was about to go down. The teenagers started calling for help, but nobody could hear them. The teenagers were losing hope.
Victor happened to pass by the entrance to the cave, and five school bags caught his attention. He also heard some sounds coming from inside the cave. “Who’s in there?” Victor shouted.
“I’m William! We came here yesterday with our teacher!” William replied instantly.
“Help us, please! We are stuck! Sarah can’t breathe here because of fear.”
“Okay, calm down, children!” Victor said. “I’ll help you get out!”
