This resulted in the new bridge being built, construction starting in one thousand hundred and seventy two and finishing two years later. And since then, business for the tourism industry has been great. Now, the tour bus leaves quite early, six o'clock in the morning, and it's a long trip, but you really enjoy just looking at the beautiful scenery from the window we stop at bast guest house. And if you're interested in wildlife, please remember that you'll need to buy tickets to the wildlife park on the island. So budget for that. Hello everyone. Feet from the ocean, four sharks lie dead on the sand.46-year-old Wilfrido Arends carefully bends down to
cut a piece from one shark-an endangered species known as a blacknose. He hands the sample to a woman next
to him.A tape measure is passed over the back of the dead shark. Each measurement is read out and noted down.
Arends,a fisher from Colombia's Wayuu Indigenous community,is leading shark research and conservation
in Punta Gallinas,a Wayuu community where shark meat is part of the traditional diet.Together with
researchers from Colombian shark conservation initiative Proyecto Puyuii,Arends and other Wayuu fishers are
documenting shark diversity in the largely unstudied waters of La Guajira.
While commercial poaching()is the leading threat to shark populations in Colombia, biologists say that
without additional research, even traditional hunting for livelihood can increase pressure on sharks, possibly
affecting their numbers or threatening endangered species-as happened with overconsumption of turtles().
Like many Wayuu boys in the region,Arends began fishing at the age of 9.As a child,he watched his
grandparents hunt shark species and participated in a trade that saw shark meat and fins exchanged for money,
fuel,or resources with buyers.
"If the fisher earns more by showing it than killing it,there's the solution,"says Felipe Gonzalez, who
co-founded Proyecto Puyuii, which aims to promote economic alternatives for fishers, minimize pressure on the
local shark population with scientific research, and carry out sustainable fishing practices.
"Now I fish mostly with nets-I've stopped using what we call the longline, because that fishing is more
directed at sharks. If I catch a shark incidentally,it will be released if found alive,"Arends says."What
happened with the turtles-I don't want the same thing to happen with the sharks.
"Our ancestors have left this to us.We want to leave something better for those who come next,"says
Arends, who dreams of one day establishing a shark research center in Punta Gallinas.

outside of the home and school, prohibit teens from entering unsupervised()-some simply no longer
exist.Agarwal also cites the need to spend money at many of the places left as an obstacle to getting together.
Many parents, anxious about the dangers of the outside world, don't allow their kids to leave their neighborhood, either.
Whatever the reason, the effect is the same:fewer opportunities for teens to spend time together where they
can build their confidence and independence. In their absence, many kids turn to the digital world, including
online gaming and social media.
"That combination has been particularly hard on the nation's youth, who may have trouble developing social
skills.A lack of in-person connection can heighten the risk for anxiety and depression for some, says Ben
Mushlin,New York City-based psychotherapist and founder of Searchlight Therapy.
Luckily, libraries nationwide are opening teen centers and organizations like Stanford University's Center for
Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing have helped open youth centers where teens can spend time playing games,
studying and attending programming.Lenore Skenazy, president of a nonprofit focused on giving kids more
freedom, advocates keeping schools open late to let kids of all ages hang out even outside of organized activities.
Mushlin highlights parks as great third spaces worth investing in.
Agarwal is looking forward to a future with more opportunities to spend time with friends."I definitely
envision my social life improving and becoming more active in college, she says.

Difficult experiences in early life, including criticism, neglect,or severe reactions from caregivers, can
influence emotional well-being and quality of life years later. In some cases, those experiences can contribute to a
fear of failure rooted in the belief that mistakes make a person less worthy in the eyes of others.Researchers set
out to determine whether imagery-based psychotherapy()could reduce the ongoing effects of these
painful memories on everyday life.
The randomized, controlled clinical trial included 180 young adults (between 18 and 35 years of age)who
experienced fear of failure.During a two-week period, participants took part in four therapy sessions focused on
difficult childhood memories involving criticism.
One group used the Imagery Exposure(IE)technique.Participants were asked to recall situations that had
caused fear or anxiety.A second group received Imagery Rescripting()(ImRs),a technique designed to
change the way a memory unfolds in the imagination.Participants brought a painful experience to mind and then
imagined a"defender"(e.g.,a therapist)entering the scene, facing the person delivering the criticism, and
offering support to the child. The third group used the same therapeutic approach, but with a 10-minute delay procedure
(ImRs-DSR).
Participants completed questionnaires and interviews, while researchers also tracked physiological measures.
Follow-up assessments took place three and six months later.
All of the imagery-based approaches produced a significant reduction in fear of failure.Participants also
reported lower levels of negative emotions, including sadness and guilt.Their bodies appeared to respond
differently as well. These improvements remained evident during follow-ups.
The researchers found that imagery rescripting worked especially well when it produced a moment of
surprise. They linked this effect to prediction error, which occurs when there is a mismatch between what
someone expects and what actually happens. That unexpected discrepancy may help loosen established emotional
patterns and make it easier for the mind to replace old, painful responses with new ones.
The findings suggest that imagery-based techniques can change how people respond to current challenges by
allowing them to"write"new, safe endings to painful experiences from the past.
32.What were participants asked to do in the trial?
A.Select their therapists.
B.Raise some questions.
C.Recall painful experiences.
D.Receive months-long therapy.
33.What can be known about the findings?
A.Participants'memory became sharper.
B.The intervention produced lasting effects.
C.Follow-up assessments were not scientific.
D.Participants'physical changes were less evident.
34.What does the underlined word "discrepancy"in paragraph 6 probably mean?
A.Complexity.
B.Flexibility.
C.Reference.
D.Difference.
35.What is the author's purpose in writing the text?

B.To advertise a product.
C.To challenge an assumption.

For some employees, using AI at work has become a requirement, rather than an option.36:
Employees use AI for the sake of using it,but they don't actually apply it to become more efficient at their jobs.
The good news is that experts have shared their best advice for companies desiring to integrate Al.
Prioritize clear communication
A Reuters survey published in June found that 53%of Americans fear that AI could put them or someone in
their household out of work. And when companies aren't clear about how their AI strategy will impact
employees,it can create additional stress and anxiety, according to Dennis Stolle, head of applied psychology at
the American Psychological Association."37.That should include sharing clear expectations around AI use,
providing timely updates when possible and engaging with feedback from employees,"Stolle says.
Let employees decide where and when to use AI
38.Instead,employees should be allowed to weigh in on where they think AI should be used and where
it shouldn't.Employees with hands-on experience are best able to judge whether AI is actually helpful or a time
saver for each of their job functions.Ranjit Bawa, chief technology and ventures officer at Deloitte, also
recommends giving employees autonomy to make thoughtful decisions around when to use Al.
39
Most importantly, companies need to make sure that employees feel psychologically safe while they are
integrating AI into their work.Employees need to feel certain that they will not be punished if they make
mistakes in the process of learning how to use Al.40.When someone does make a mistake, leaders should
treat it as a learning opportunity rather than a failure.
A.There's nothing wrong with it
B.Leave room for learning and mistakes
C.Allow leaders to talk with and learn from each other
D.Companies shouldn't urge employees to use AI for all tasks
E.However, this can cause what experts call "checkbox adoption"
F.Leaders should engage in open and honest conversation with employees
G.Otherwise, nobody will have the courage to experiment and innovate with the technology

little, they had wandered in for snacks and drinks, and the shop had quietly become part of their life. The
owner,Cris, knew them well.He would often round down the price and wave away the small change,a habit
that made him seem less like a shopkeeper and more like a friendly uncle.
One afternoon, after a lively football game, the three boys pushed open the familiar door as usual. After
paying, they noticed Cris rearranging things on the counter, his movements slow and heavy. His face, usually
warm and cheerful, looked tired and gloomy.Jack was the first to sense something wrong.
"Are you alright,Cris?"Jack asked cautiously.
Cris forced a smile and said,"Well,my shop may have to close soon. These days more and more people
prefer shopping online,so few walk through my door. And the rent...I simply can't afford it anymore. But I
haven't made a final decision..."
The boys stood frozen for a moment, too shocked to speak. Before leaving,Jack whispered something to

W:Oh yeah?What's that?
M:Well, you know how these fun runs are becoming more popular?I think we should organize one.Our company comes across as
quite old-fashioned,but this would really change things. We can advertise it on social media. Then everyone who signs up for the

M:Yeah, the banana and strawberry flavor. Then,at the event,we can arrange for staff to wear T-shirts with the company logo and

W:It sounds like a lot of organizing.
M:That's OK.I'll organize everything.I've written a proposal here.Could you at least look it over?
W:Hmm,I'm not sure.I'll give it some thought. It does sound like a big plan.
(Teat 10)
M:Hello, everyone. Now,you're all here to learn about the trip to Arthur Island. As you might know, the population is about
7,000.Those are permanent residents,a far cry from the early days when some 17,000 people used to live there. But the
advantage of a declining population is that the island has maintained its natural attractions. So now in the summer, the population
rises to 22,000 as tourists pour into this lovely little place to enjoy all it has to offer. It's an interesting fact that Arthur Island was
once very remote, with only a wooden bridge connecting it to the mainland.Heavy trucks could not pass over it,as could be seen
from the accident in 1971,in which the bridge broke. This resulted in the new bridge being built, construction starting in 1972 and
finishing two years later. And since then, business for the tourism industry has been great. Now,the tour bus leaves quite early,
6:00 in the morning, and it's a long trip, but you'll really enjoy just looking at the beautiful scenery from the window. We stop at
the Bas Guest House. And if you're interested in wildlife, please remember that you'll need to buy tickets to the wildlife park on
the island.So budget for that.
