How AI Changes Our Daily Life: Benefits and Worries
Artificial intelligence, or AI, is no longer something that only appears in sciencefiction movies. It has stepped into ordinary people’s daily life quietly and reshapes how we work, study and relax.
In our daily routines, AI brings plenty of convenience. Smart voice assistants can set alarms, check weather and search information for us with simple spoken orders. Recommendation systems on shopping and video apps suggest content that matches our personal tastes. At school, AI learning tools mark students’ exercises quickly and offer personalized learning tips. For people with disabilities, AIpowered devices create more chances for them to communicate and take part in social activities.
However, along with those benefits come some worrying problems. To offer better services, many AI products collect large amounts of personal data. If the data is not wellprotected, users’ privacy will be at risk. Another problem is human overdependence on AI. Some teenagers copy AIwritten homework answers without independent thinking. Gradually, they may lose the ability to analyse problems on their own. Besides, AI cannot truly understand human feelings, so it can never completely replace realworld communication between people.
Technology itself is neither good nor bad. The key point lies in how human beings make use of it. Experts remind teenagers to treat AI as a helpful tool instead of a replacement. While enjoying the advantages AI brings, we should develop digital literacy, think critically and avoid being controlled by technology. After all, we are supposed to be the master of modern technology, not its slave.

Is comprehension the same whether a person reads a text onscreen or on paper? And are listening to and viewing content as effective as reading the written word when covering the same material? The answers to both questions are often “no.” The reasons relate to a variety of factors, including reduced concentration, an entertainment mindset (心态) and a tendency to multitask while consuming digital content.
When reading texts of several hundred words or more, learning is generally more successful when it’s on paper than onscreen. A large amount of research confirms this finding. The benefits of print reading particularly shine through when experimenters move from posing simple tasks — like identifying the main idea in a reading passage — to ones that require mental abstraction — such as drawing inferences from a text.
The differences between print and digital reading results are partly related to paper’s physical properties. With paper, there is a literal laying on of hands, along with the visual geography of distinct pages. People often link their memory of what they’ve read to how far into the book it was or where it was on the page.
But equally important is the mental aspect. Reading researchers have proposed a theory called “shallowing hypothesis (假说).” According to this theory, people approach digital texts with a mindset suited to social media, which are often not so serious, and devote less mental effort than when they are reading print.
Audio (音频) and video can feel more engaging than text, and so university teachers increasingly turn to these technologies — say, assigning an online talk instead of an article by the same person. However, psychologists have demonstrated that when adults read news stories, they remember more of the content than if they listen to or view identical pieces.
Digital texts, audio and video all have educational roles, especially when providing resources not available in print. However, for maximizing learning where mental focus and reflection are called for, educators shouldn’t assume all media are the same, even when they contain identical words.
28. What does the underlined phrase “shine through” in paragraph 2 mean?
A. Seem unlikely to last. B. Seem hard to explain.
C. Become ready to use. D. Become easy to notice.
29. Why is print reading better for in-depth learning?
A. It frees readers from memory links. B. It encourages serious mental involvement.
C. It provides more reading resources. D. It helps form a social media mindset.
30. What do psychologists’ findings suggest?
A. News stories are hard to remember. B. Audio content carries less information.
C. Written texts benefit memory more. D. Online talks replace written articles.
31. Which of the following is a suitable title for the text?
A. Print or Screen: Which Is Better for Learning?
B. Digital Media: A New Way of Communication
C. Shallowing Hypothesis: A Theory about Reading
D. Educational Roles of Audio and Video

Passage 1
(2025-2026·湖南高二期末)Every year across the world, vaccines (疫苗) prevent as many as five million people from dying. Unfortunately, most vaccines need to be kept cool to stop them from going off. This makes it difficult to transport them to remote areas, because if they get too warm they won’t work. This is what Dr Asel Sartbaeva has been attempting to solve.
Growing up, Asel Sartbaeva always looked up to scientists like Michael Faraday and Marie Curie. When she studied at Cambridge University in England, she met an award-winning physicist called Brian Josephson. “My jaw dropped,” she said, “It felt like a ‘big thing’ for me to be working in the same place as scientists I had looked up to for so long.”
In 2010, Asel Sartbaeva took her daughter Melinda to be vaccinated. She noticed the doctor had kept the vaccines in the fridge. When she got home, she started reading about it online and found that there are places around the world where vaccines can’t be delivered because they can’t be refrigerated for the whole journey — meaning some people miss out on getting vaccines. Sartbaeva wanted to invent a way to keep vaccines stable at all temperatures, so she came up with ensilication.
Over the next few years, Sartbaeva and her team have tested out a number of different ways to see if the ensilicated vaccines can be kept stable when they’re out of the fridge. One of these experiments involved sending some vaccines in the post from Bath to Newcastle. The journey is more than 300 miles, which can take a day or two by post, but the vaccines were still safe to use when they arrived.
In 2021, Sartbaeva was named a UNICEF Ambassador for Girls in Science project. She designed experiments to get more girls interested in the science-based subjects. “In addition to my scientific and teaching work, I want t to make scientific discoveries closer and d more understandable to people,” she said.
1. What does the underlined phrase“going off” in paragraph 1 probably mean?
A. Boiling. B. Being misused. C. Failing. D. Being polluted.
2. How did Sartbaeva feel about her meeting with Brian Josephson?
A. Honored. B. Scared. C. Amused. D. Embarrassed.
3. What inspired Sartbaeva’s idea of ensilication?
A. Limitations of the vaccine storage. B. Vaccine shortages in some places.
C. Her daughter’s unexpected illness. D. The children’s high demand for vaccines.
4. Why does the author mention the journey in paragraph 4?
A. To introduce the core of ensilication. B. To show the effectiveness of ensilication.
C. To compare different means of transportation. D. To emphasize the hardship of the experiment.

Passage 2
(2025-2026·湖南长沙高二下期末)A new study has found that breathing does more than just move air in and out of your lungs — it could even be used to identify who you are. Scientists at Israel’s Weizmann Institute of Science discovered that each person has a distinct breathing pattern, known as a nasal (鼻的) breathing “fingerprint”, a unique pattern that reveals clues about a person’s physical and mental health. Notably, brain scientist Timna Soroka shared, “We were able to identify differences between less depressed and non-depressed individuals.”
The researchers originally set out to better understand how our sense of smell works. In humans, the brain processes smell during inhalation (吸入), and this close connection between the brain and breathing led the team to wonder: could our breathing patterns reflect the way our brains are wired — and be unique to each of us? To explore this question, they developed a lightweight, wearable device that tracks nasal airflow continuously for 24 hours.
The study, published in the journal Current Biology, tested 100 healthy young adults as they went about their regular routines — running, studying, resting, and more. The results showed breathing patterns can identify individuals with 96.8 percent accuracy. “I thought it would be really hard to identify someone because everyone is doing different things,” said Soroka. “But it turns out their breathing patterns were remarkably distinct!”
Beyond individual identification, the study also found clear links between breathing patterns and body mass index (BMI), sleep-wake cycles, and mental health traits such as anxiety and depression. For example, people who scored higher on anxiety tests tended to have shorter inhalation periods. Importantly, the researchers noted that they merely know there is an association between breathing and mood, but they haven’t figured out the cause-and-effect direction — whether feeling anxious changes breathing, or a certain breathing pattern causes anxiety. If the latter is true, changing how we breathe could potentially improve mood.
However, the current device has drawbacks: it uses soft tubes under the nose that can be uncomfortable to wear and may slip during sleep, and it doesn’t track mouth breathing. The team is working on improving the device and further exploring the breathing-mood connection to unlock more practical applications.
5. Why does the author compare breathing patterns to fingerprints in paragraph 1?
A.To argue a medical point. B.To illustrate their uniqueness.
C.To introduce a new invention. D.To discuss mental health issues.
6. What can we learn about the study from paragraph 3?
A.The identification results were reliable.
B.It involved participants of different ages.
C.It was difficult to tell one person from another.
D.It tested people under specially designed conditions.
7. What is the researchers’ current understanding of the breathing-mood link?
A.They know it exists but not how it works.
B.They have found a clear causal relationship.
C.They are confident it can be used for treatment.
D.They believe mood entirely controls breathing.
8. What is the main finding of the study?
A.Breathing patterns can identify individuals.
B.Anxiety is linked to shorter inhalation periods.
C.Breathing patterns reveal identity and health clues.
D.A wearable device tracks nasal airflow continuously.

Passage 3
(2025-2026·湖南长沙高一下期末)Keeping food cold often comes with a hidden problem: Traditional ice melts (融化), leaving pools of water that can make drinks watery, damage products, or even spread dangerous bacteria. Now, researchers at the University of California, Davis, have created jelly ice, a reusable and biodegradable (可生物降解的) alternative that cools like ice but never melts into liquid.
The new material is made of 90% water and can be shaped into various forms. It stays solid below freezing, softens at room temperature, and can be reused by simply washing and refreezing. “Compared to regular ice of the same shape and size, jelly ice has up to 80% of the cooling efficiency,” said Jiahan Zou, a study researcher, “We can reuse the material and maintain the heat absorbance across multiple cooling and warning cycles, an advantage that regular ice cannot offer.”
The project began when UC Davis food scientists noticed how much ice was used in fish-processing plants and how meltwater could spread bacteria. Seeking a safer option for grocery seafood displays, the team turned to gelatin a food-safe material whose protein structure can trap water even as it freezes and thaws (解冻).
After years of testing, the researchers perfected a simple, one-step process for making jelly ice. The material is made from natural components and can be biodegraded after use. It doesn’t contribute to microplastic pollution, even offering a side benefit of improving tomato plant growth when added to soil.
Beyond grocery stores, jelly ice could have wide applications. It could help preserve medical supplies during shipping, reduce waste in biotechnology, and provide reliable cooling options. It promises fresher food shipments without the mess of melting ice packs while also offering a sustainable alternative that reduces pollution risks and supports agriculture
Although licenses for the technology have already been secured, jelly ice is not yet available for public purchase. It still requires market analysis, product design, and large-scale production testing. Inspired by its success, the team is now studying other natural polymers, such as plant-based proteins, to see if similar innovations can be developed.
9. What is one advantage of jelly ice over traditional ice?
A.Fixed shape. B.Saving water.
C.Repeated use. D.Cooling efficiency.
10. What does the author imply about jelly ice in paragraphs 3 and 4?
A.It stretches tomato growing cycles B.It adopts a bacteria-free material.
C.It shortens the freezing time. D.It lowers environmental impacts.
11. What can we learn from the last paragraph?
A.The official approval is underway.
B.Jelly ice needs further development.
C.Traditional ice will soon disappear.
D.Other natural polymers will be available.
12. What can be a suitable title for the text?
A.A Game-changer That Controls Bacteria.
B.A Cooling Alternative That We Can Order.
C.A Cooling Material That Doesn’t Melt.
D.A Quick Fix That Cuts Biological Pollution.

Passage 4
(2025-2026·湖南株洲高一下期末)The study, published in the Journal of Child Psychology & Psychiatry, compared survey results of parents with their children in England and Wales from the ages of 16 months to 13 years. The research team found that average levels of food fussiness (挑食) were relatively stable during this period, peaking somewhat around the age of 7 and declining slightly after that. They concluded that genetic differences in the population accounted for 60% of the variation in food fussiness at 16 months, rising to 74% and over between the ages of 3 and 13.
Lead author Dr Zeynep Nas said, “Food fussiness is common among children and can be a major source of anxiety for parents and caregivers, who often blame themselves for this behaviour or are blamed by others. “We hope our finding that fussy eating is largely inborn may help to ease parental blame. This behaviour is not a result of parenting.”
Senior author Dr Clare Llewellyn said, “While genetic factors are the major influence for food fussiness, environment also plays a supporting role. Environmental factors, such as sitting down together as a family to eat meals, may only be significant in toddlerhood (蹒跚学步期); while environmental factors, such as individual personal experiences (e.g., having different fiends) become more influential in later years.” This suggests that interventions (干预) to help children eat a wider range of foods, such as repeatedly exposing children to the same foods regularly and offering a variety of fruits and vegetables, may be most effective in the very early years. Unique environmental factors accounted for about a quarter of individual differences between children in fussy eating by ages 7 and 13, the researchers estimated.
Among the study limitations, the researchers noted that there were fewer participants at age 7 compared to other time points and that the study sample (样本) had a large percentage of white British households of higher social-economic backgrounds compared to the general population of England and Wales, In future, the team said, research should focus on non-western populations where food culture, parental feeding practices and food security may be quite different.
13. According to paragraph 1, what does the study tell us?
A.Teenagers over 13 years old have a balanced diet.
B.Children become more particular about food with age.
C.Children at 7 have the highest level of food fussiness.
D.Variation in food fussiness causes genetic differences.
14. In Dr Zeynep Nas’s opinion, .
A.children are born to have certain food preferences
B.children should be ashamed of their picky eating
C.parental anxiety leads to children’s food fussiness
D.parents should adopt more effective feeding practices
15. When children reach 12, which of the following influences their food fussiness most?
A.Being exposed to various foods.
B.The environment of family dinners.
C.Having meals together with fellows.
D.The closeness of interpersonal relations.
16.What can be inferred from the last paragraph?
A.More global samples should be collected.
B.Cultural factors have been taken into account.
C.Food fussiness is unique to western countries.
D.The study lacks hard evidence for food fussiness.
【答案】13.C 14.A 15.C 16.A

Passage 5
(2026-2027·湖南湘潭高三上模拟)Nowadays, smart devices manage nearly every aspect of home life, from temperature regulation (调控) to security monitoring. A sudden power failure is more than a simple inconvenience. It can shut down your heating, cut off your network, and even leave your security system blind all at once. 17
One of the benefits of a portable power station is the comfort it brings when the power fails. Imagine a storm hits, and suddenly, your heater or air conditioning shuts off. With a power station, you can keep essential devices running. 18 This makes it quieter, cleaner, easier to maintain, and more suitable for indoor use.
Being able to control appliances via Wi-Fi is one of the hallmarks of modern smart homes. However, if the power goes down, you lose access to that connectivity. Even if the power comes back in a few minutes, some of your appliances may not work properly after a forced restart. 19 That way, you won’t lose connectivity during a blackout (停电).
If you’ve invested in solar panels or another renewable energy source, a portable power station can be an excellent way to store energy. When the sun is shining, any extra energy generated by your solar panels can be stored in the portable power station. 20
21 An entire security system will become blind without stable power. So if you want to make sure your system is fully functional during a blackout, you’d better have a portable power station as backup power.
A.Don’t count on backup batteries for security.
B.It powers your home when solar panels stop working.
C.A portable power station can keep your Wi-Fi running.
D.A portable power station can prevent such interruptions.
E.Security systems require nonstop power to stay effective.
F.Internal batteries in some devices disable Wi-Fi to conserve energy.
G.Unlike traditional generators, the portable power station runs on batteries.

Passage 7
(2025-2026·湖南常德高一下期末)I went on holiday recently and didn’t take a single photo. That was not because it wasn’t an “Instagram able location” or because I wasn’t having a good time. In fact, not taking photos wasn’t even a(n) 27 decision, at least at first.
Not having to 28 getting “the perfect shot” was relaxing. The two weeks of holiday were spent being truly in the moment. The exhaustion of trying to capture every single sunset, meal and pool shot 29 . Not snapping away like crazy saved me 30 to actually enjoy every moment. It made for a more 31 experience. I wasn’t constantly distracted by angles, lighting and filters (滤镜). I simply absorbed what was happening in front of me.
The irony (讽刺之处) is that most people take a picture in order to keep a memory 32 . Nevertheless, psychologists say you’re actually rewriting over that memory by doing so.
Linda Henkel, a psychology professor at Fairfield University, conducted a study in 2014 with 28 university students. These students were asked to observe 15 objects with their own 33 and snap photos of 15 others in a museum. When they were tested the next day, they weren’t able to remember as many features of the objects that they had 34 compared with those they had seen with their eyes. Henkel found that taking photos led to an “impairment effect.” That is to say, the subjects remembered fewer 35 of an experience.
“As soon as you hit ‘click’ on that camera, it’s as if you’ve outsourced (外包) your memory,” she says. “We have this expectation that the camera is going to remember things for us, so we don’t have to continue 36 that object and we don’t engage in the types of things that would otherwise help us to remember it.” With smartphones and devices that automatically (自动地) take a picture every 30 seconds, how much is too much? How do we know when we are taking too many pictures and 37 our memories?
38 most of us are taking more photos than we can handle. Who among us hasn’t regularly wondered what to do with our smartphone photos and struggled to 39 old ones to clear out storage space?
We’ve already been told that Instagramming food makes meals taste 40 . Perhaps that’s why I ate such delicious food on my recent two-week holiday.
As 41 as it may be to snap away to my heart’s content, I think I’m going to start putting the phone down more often in order to actually enjoy the time with my loved ones instead.

Its rapid advancement is reshaping our world 42 an unprecedented pace. As a high school student, I often find myself in 43 about the future. What will the job market look like? How will AI influence my career? Is it possible that we will be replaced by AI 44 and have no work to do?
My teacher, Mr. Li, once told us, “Because AI can 45 humans at routine tasks, it is technically capable of replacing hundreds of millions of white and blue collar jobs. However, instead of fearing change, we should 46 it. The future won’t be about humans versus machines; it will be about humans cooperating (合作) with machines.” His words left a deep impression on me. I realized that the key to being 47 in this new era is not to compete with AI but to focus on what makes us uniquely human: creativity, critical thinking, and emotional intelligence.
48 this lesson in mind, I started to adjust my approach to learning. I didn’t just 49 memorizing facts for exams. I actively participated in debate clubs to sharpen my 50 thinking and joined a robotics team to learn how to 51 with intelligent systems.

Passage 6
(2026·全国一卷)Museums,once quiet places filled with history, are now full of digital excitement.By using machine learning and advanced algorithms(算法),these institutions are creating personalized visitor journeys, protecting delicate collections, and revealing hidden stories. 22
AI transforms a standard museum trip into a personalized and interactive adventure.Smart recommendation engines analyze data such as exhibit popularity and visitors’ past behavior to suggest specific exhibits and events, making each visit unique and surprising. 23 These digital assistants engage visitors in dynamic conversations and offer context-sensitive insights that deepen understanding and satisfy curiosity.
Beyond visitor interaction,AI plays a crucial role in preserving priceless artworks.Since the exhibits in museums sustain natural decay( 破损 ) over time, early detection is vital.AI can help identify the slightest signs of decay, such as cracks or discoloration, which are often invisible to the human eye. 24 Moreover,by predicting future decay patterns,AI helps museums take preventive measures and improve preservation strategies.
AI also significantly enhances the educational value of museums, particularly for children and families. 25 For instance, interactive exhibits powered by AI can adjust their content and difficulty level based on the user’s preferences and responses. This adaptability ensures that complex historical concepts become accessible and engaging for young minds.
Looking ahead, the rapid advancement of AI promises both exciting possibilities and ethical(伦理的) challenges.Museums are working together with AI ethicists to develop fair algorithms. 26 Strict policies should be established to protect visitors’ information.
A.This capability allows for timely restoration.
B.Visitor data collection also raises privacy issues.
C.In short,AI is redefining the museum in all respects.
D.It tailors learning experiences to different age groups and learning styles.
E.Museums are not only places to store artworks, but also spaces for learning.
F.Furthermore,AI-powered virtual guides are replacing traditional tour guides.
G.AI is changing this by using image recognition technology to analyze exhibits.

Passage 8
(2025-2026·云南曲靖高一下期末)AI, or deep learning, makes specific decisions in certain domain (领域) by taking in massive amounts of data and automatically learns from it.
There, I experienced both successes and 52 , through which I got a deeper understanding of some “human” qualities — resilience, adaptability, and collaboration — are what machines currently lack and are highly 53 in the modern workplace. I also used AI tools to 54 my daily affairs.
Looking ahead, I feel more excited than anxious. I plan to study computer science with a minor in design, aiming to create technology that is both powerful and user-friendly. The future is a canvas, and we are the artists. By embracing lifelong learning and making up for our human 55 , we can navigate the age of AI while enjoying the 56 it brings for us all.
