A A photo worth keeping
Leo is much (1)__________ (quiet) than I am, but he notices things that I often miss. He is also the (2)__________ (helpful) member of our photography club: whenever someone needs help, he is there. Last Saturday, we entered a photo competition together. We had two photos of us making faces, and I wanted to enter the (3)__________ (funny) one. Leo suggested taking a picture of an old man teaching his granddaughter to ride a bike instead.
We agreed that the picture was the (4)__________ (good) of all our photos that afternoon. Then I put my camera on a wet bench. It was (5)__________ (care) of me, and the bottom of the camera got wet. Leo quickly found a dry cloth. At the end of the afternoon, we (6)__________ (choose) his picture for the competition.
I enjoy (7)__________ (share) ideas with Leo because he listens before giving advice. He took the final photo by (8)__________ (he), but he added both our names to it. I felt (9)__________ (confident) than before about working with someone whose ideas were different from mine. We did not win, but we were two of the (10)__________ (happy) people in the club when our photo appeared on the school website.

B Three schools on one screen
Our class has an online school-life club with two other schools. Ellie is a (1)__________ (Britain) student, and Ken lives in Japan. We send short videos to one another and compare our school days.
Ellie's school has eight clubs, while mine has five, so hers offers (2)__________ (many) clubs than mine. Ken has forty minutes for lunch, but I have an hour. He has (3)__________ (little) lunchtime than I do. There are eighteen students in Ellie's class and thirty in mine, so her class has (4)__________ (few) students than mine. Ken's class has twenty-four students, so Ellie's has the (5)__________ (few) of the three. Ken's school has twelve clubs, giving it the (6)__________ (many) clubs among the three schools. Our daily homework takes thirty, forty and fifty minutes at Ellie's school, Ken's school and mine. Ellie therefore spends the (7)__________ (little) time on homework among the three of us.
However, numbers do not tell the whole story. Ellie's school day is as (8)__________ (long) as mine, but the lessons are different. Some students in her class help to grow vegetables for school lunches. We make the videos by (9)__________ (we), so we also learn to plan and film. Each member (10)__________ (learn) something new from the club every week.

C A voice diary that helps
Mei keeps a one-minute English voice diary each evening. She records (1)__________ (she) talking about one small event of the day. At first, she tried to speak quickly and made many mistakes. Now she speaks (2)__________ (slowly) than before, leaving time to think.
Last Friday, our six group members each told a short story. Mei spoke the (3)__________ (clearly) of us all, so nobody needed her to repeat a sentence. Her notes also helped her tell the story (4)__________ (well) than she did the week before. Of all six members, she works the (5)__________ (hard), but she still takes short breaks. She says a useful plan matters more than a long study session.
Two of her friends now record (6)__________ (they) telling stories too. They hope to become (7)__________ (write) and turn some of their stories into books one day. We do not need to wait for a teacher to explain every new word; sometimes we can teach (8)__________ (we) with pictures and examples.
Yesterday, I listened to my first recording again and (9)__________ (correct) three mistakes in my notebook. I can now explain those mistakes (10)__________ (clear). My voice diary is helping me notice what to practise next.
