拓展提高(课内同源 + 课外同源)
Passage1(课内同源:四百零四个成年人)
In 2015, a team at Carnegie Mellon University published a study that sounds like a joke and is not. They asked 404 healthy adults to keep a diary for two weeks. Every evening, the volunteers recorded two things: how many hugs they had received that day, and how they felt. / Then the researchers did something unpleasant but necessary. They put a common cold virus into the volunteers' noses and watched what happened. / The result was clear. People who were hugged more often were less likely to become ill, and those who did become ill had milder symptoms. The effect held even when the researchers allowed for age, diet and personality. / The explanation is not magic. Touch lowers cortisol, one of the main stress hormones, and stress is hard on the immune system. A hug also involves another person, and feeling supported changes how the body responds. / The study has limits. It was one study, in one country, and a cold is not a life. But it is a useful reminder that the body does not separate the mind from the people around it. / “We tend to think of health as a private project,” the lead researcher said. “It is not.”

Passage2(课外同源:静止的脸)
In 1975, a psychologist named Edward Tronick filmed a simple and disturbing experiment. A mother sits in front of her baby of about one year. They play. The baby points, the mother answers, and for a few seconds the two of them are a single system. / Then the mother is asked to do something unnatural: she keeps her face still. She looks at the baby, but she does not answer. / The baby tries everything. It smiles, points, makes a noise, reaches up. Nothing comes back. Within two minutes the baby turns away, cries, and its heart rate rises. When the mother finally responds, the baby takes a long time to trust her again. / Tronick called it the still-face experiment. It has been repeated in dozens of countries with the same result. Babies are not looking for food or a toy in that moment. They are looking for an answer. / The lesson is not that parents must be perfect. In the same films, ordinary mothers miss their baby's signals about seventy percent of the time, and the babies are fine, because the repair is quick. / What damages a child is not the missed moment. It is the face that never comes back.

任务四范文:The results of a 2015 study show that touch is not only a feeling. Four hundred and four adults kept a diary of their hugs for two weeks, and then researchers gave them a cold virus. The people who were hugged more often became ill less often, and when they did become ill, their symptoms were milder. The explanation is chemical: touch lowers cortisol, and too much cortisol weakens the immune system. This does not mean that a hug cures a cold, and it does not mean that people who live alone are unhealthy. But small things make a difference: a hand on the shoulder before an exam, twenty seconds instead of two, or simply sitting next to someone at lunch.
