Passage1(课内同源:每个国家都觉得自己正常)
Breakfast is the strangest meal in the world, because every country is sure that its own breakfast is normal. / In Britain, a “full English” means eggs, bacon, sausage, beans, mushrooms, tomatoes and toast, with tea. It is a heavy meal, and most British people eat it only at the weekend. On weekdays they have cereal or toast. / In Japan, a traditional breakfast is rice, miso soup, grilled fish and a raw egg over the rice. It is salty rather than sweet, and it is eaten quickly. In Turkey, breakfast can last two hours: cheese, olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, bread, honey and many small dishes, with tea in a curved glass. / In China, breakfast changes from north to south — noodles in the north, rice noodles in the south, porridge and pickles almost everywhere. / What all these meals share is not the food but the time. Breakfast is the one meal that is usually eaten with family, before the day pulls everyone apart.

Every morning in Mumbai, about 5,000 men carry 200,000 lunch boxes across the city. They are the dabbawalas, and they have been doing this work since 1890. / The system is simple. A wife or mother cooks lunch in the morning and packs it in a round tin, the tiffin. A dabbawala collects it at about nine, and the tins travel by train, bicycle and hand. By half past twelve, the hot lunch is on the desk of a clerk twenty kilometres away. At four, the empty tin goes home. / What makes the system famous is its accuracy. Every tin carries a small code of colours and letters — a sort of address that needs no reading. In 1998, a study found that only one tin in six million went missing. / The dabbawalas have refused to use computers. “Our grandfathers did it this way,” one of them says. “The code has never failed.” / In a city of traffic jams and mobile phones, five thousand men with bicycles still deliver home cooking to a desk, on time, every day.

任务四范文:In my home, breakfast is porridge, and it is a small tradition of ours. My grandmother makes it in a heavy pot the night before; it is made from rice and water, and nothing else. She gets up at half past five, and by six the whole flat smells of it. We eat together at the kitchen table, with pickles, an egg and a glass of warm soy milk. My parents say they are too busy for a long breakfast, but they never leave the table before seven. On Sundays my grandmother adds red beans, because she says Sunday should taste different. It is not a big meal, but it is the only one we always eat together.
