Passage1(课内同源:一封信,一个回答)
For sixty years, a newspaper column in Britain has printed letters from readers and answers from an editor known as an “agony aunt”. / The letters are short and often funny. “My husband talks to the dog more than to me.” “My son refuses to wear anything but blue.” The answers are practical. They rarely tell people what to feel; they suggest what to do next. / Behind the jokes, there is a serious purpose. The column gives readers a safe place to say things they cannot say at home. Because the letters are anonymous, a person can admit a mistake without losing face. / The editors work with counsellors. They never give medical advice, and when a letter describes something dangerous, they print a hotline number instead of an opinion. / In the 1950s, many readers wrote about money and marriage. Today they write about exams, phones and loneliness. The problems change; the need to be heard does not. / “We are not experts on your life,” one editor wrote. “We are simply a stranger who takes you seriously.”

Passage2(课外同源:学校里的倾听者)
In the past, a school counsellor was often the person students visited only after a serious problem. Today, many schools are trying to make help ordinary. / At one school in Shanghai, the counselling room has no sign on the door. Students can drop in at lunch, play a board game, or just sit for ten minutes. The counsellor says the room is deliberately unexciting: “If it looks like a hospital, nobody comes.” / The school also trains teachers to notice small changes: a student who stops eating with friends, a boy who sleeps in every class. These signs are not proof of a problem, but they are reasons to ask a gentle question. / Students themselves run a weekly “quiet hour”, when phones are put away and anyone can talk in a small group. A teacher stands outside, far enough away not to listen. / “We cannot remove every problem,” the counsellor says. “But we can make sure that no student has to carry one alone. That is already a kind of treatment.”
