A. By B. With C. For D. From
【答案】A
By通过;With有;For为了;From来自。
2. The little boy has trouble ________ new words, so he makes word cards.
A. remember B. to remember C. remembering D. remembered
句中have trouble (in) doing sth.
3. ________ going to the English Corner this Friday? It’s a good way to practice speaking.
A. Why not B. How about C. Would you like D. Could you please
Why not为什么不(后接动词原形);How about……怎么样(后接动名词或名词);Would you like你想要(后接动词不定式);Could you please请你…… 根据空后“going”可知,此处是“How about+动名词”结构,用于提出建议;Why not和Could you please后需接动词原形,Would you like后需接动词不定式,均不符合语法结构,应填How about。
4. ________ interesting the story is! I want to listen to it again.
A. What B. What an C. How D. How an

—At nine o’ clock.
A. what time B. how long C. how often D. how far
【答案】A

what time几点,问具体时刻;how long多久/多长,问时长、长度;how often多久一次,问频率;how far多远,问距离。根据答语“At nine o’clock”,说明回答的是具体时刻,应填what time。
6. Could you please ________ the window? It’s a little hot in the room.
A. opening B. opened C. to open D. open

A. holds B. held C. is held D. was holding
【答案】C

根据时间状语“every year”可知,句子应用一般现在时;主语“The dragon boat race”与动词“hold”之间是被动关系(即龙舟赛被举办),需用一般现在时的被动语态“is/am/are+done”,主语为单数名词,be动词用is,应填is held。
8. Thanksgiving Day ________ on the fourth Thursday of November in the US.
A. celebrates B. celebrated C. was celebrating D. is celebrated
【答案】D

look for寻找;look over检查。根据“If you meet a new word while reading, you’d better...in the dictionary.” look up是“动词 + 副词”型短语,代词it作宾语时,必须放在look和up中间。

Of course not当然不介意;You’re welcome不客气;Never mind没关系;You’d better not你最好不要。问句“Would you mind doing sth.?”
Tom was an exchange student from Canada. One Friday evening, his host grandmother called him into the kitchen. “Tomorrow is the Dragon Boat Festival,” she said. “We are going to make zongzi.” Tom had ____11____ eaten zongzi before, but he had never made one.
Early the next morning, grandmother soaked (洗泡) the bamboo leaves and the rice. Tom watched carefully and took ____12____ in his notebook. “It looks easy,” he thought. However, when he tried to fold a leaf into a cone (圆锥体), his hands seemed to have their own ____13____. The rice fell out, the leaf broke, and his zongzi looked more like a small ____14____.
“Don’t worry,” grandmother laughed. “____15____ can learn it in one day. I burnt my first pot of rice, too.” Tom tried again. This time he used less rice and tied (绑) the string more ____16____. After the tenth try, one of his zongzi finally stood up.
Soon a sweet smell filled the kitchen. The whole family gathered around the table. Tom picked his own zongzi and opened it ____17____. It was a little loose, but still the best thing he had ever tasted.
That evening, Tom wrote in his diary: “I once thought learning was only about listening and ____18____ down. Now I know it is also about ____19____. The best way to learn something is to ____20____ it with your own hands.”
11. A. never B. often C. always D. already
12. A. breaks B. lessons C. notes D. messages
13. A. minds B. ideas C. ways D. plans
14. A. pillow B. flower C. letter D. picture
15. A. Anyone B. Everyone C. Someone D. No one
16. A. quietly B. quickly C. tightly D. loosely
17. A. angrily B. proudly C. sadly D. secretly
18. A. writing B. sitting C. looking D. lying
19. A. talking B. waiting C. reading D. doing
20. A. watch B. try C. hear D. read
11. B 12. C 13. A 14. A 15. D 16. C 17. B 18. A 19. D 20. B
根据后文“but he had never made one”表转折,说明是吃过,但没做过,应选用often。
根据“took...in his notebook”及“take notes”是固定搭配,表示记笔记,应选用notes。
根据前文“rice fell out, the leaf broke”,可知粽子形状失败,松散像枕头。
根据奶奶安慰的话语及“I burnt my first pot of rice, too”,可知学习很难,没人能速成,应选用No one。
根据“with your own hands”及全文主旨,可知要亲手尝试,应选用try。

On the night before the Spring Festival, eleven-year-old Xu Lei found his grandfather sitting alone in the kitchen. The old man looked at the bowl of sweet dumpling fillings (馅) and shook his head. After his illness, he could no longer remember how much sugar to add.
Grandfather had made the family’s sweet dumplings every year. His secret was a small notebook with a recipe (配方) written in his own hand. But now half of the pages were missing, and the last line read: “...and then add sugar, slowly, like snow falling on the river.”
Xu Lei decided to try. His first dumplings were terrible—he had mixed up the salt and the sugar. His second ones broke open in the pot. “Cooking is like writing a letter,” his grandfather said quietly. “Slow, and from the heart.”
On the third try, Xu Lei added the sugar “like snow”, one spoon at a time. When the dumplings floated to the top, golden and round, the whole family cheered. Grandfather took one bite and smiled. “You found it,” he said. “It was in you all along.”
24. Why did Grandfather look worried in the kitchen?
A. He lost his notebook.
B. He couldn’t find the sugar.
C. The dumplings were broken.

(C)
Why Do We Eat Mooncakes?
The Mid-Autumn Festival falls on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, when the moon is at its roundest and brightest. For over a thousand years, families in China have celebrated it by sharing mooncakes under the moon.
The round shape of the mooncake is important. In Chinese, “round” (圆) has long stood for “reunion” (团圆). Eating a round mooncake with the people you love is a way of saying: “We are together.”
Early mooncakes were simple. They were made of wheat flour, sugar and a little lard (猪油), with fillings of red bean paste or lotus seeds (莲子). Today, bakeries offer dozens of flavors — from the traditional five-kernel (五仁) to milk tea and even ice cream. Some are even baked into the shape of rabbits, the moon lady's lovely companion.
In the past, mooncakes were made by hand at home. Now most families buy them, but the meaning has not changed. As one baker in Guangzhou said, “A mooncake is not just food. It is a small round promise that you will come home.”
28. What does the writer mainly talk about in Paragraph 2?
A. How mooncakes are made.
B. Why mooncakes are round.
C. Where to buy the best mooncakes.
D. Why the moon is roundest in autumn.
29. The underlined word “companion” in Paragraph 3 is closest in meaning to ____.
A. friend B. enemy C. message D. gift
30. What can we learn about early mooncakes?
A. They had ice cream inside.
B. They were made with simple ingredients.
C. They were made by bakeries.
D. They were shaped like rabbits.
31. What does the baker in Guangzhou mean?
A. Mooncakes are too expensive.
B. Families should make mooncakes by hand.
C. A mooncake carries the wish to come home.
D. The Mid-Autumn Festival is the most important one.
B 29. A 30. B 31. C
根据第二段“The round shape of the mooncake is important. In Chinese, ‘round’ has long stood for ‘reunion’. Eating a round mooncake with the people you love is a way of saying: ‘We are together.’”
根据第三段“Some are even baked into the shape of rabbits, the moon lady’s lovely companion.”
根据第三段“Early mooncakes were simple. They were made of wheat flour, sugar and a little lard...”
根据最后一段广州面包师的话“A mooncake is not just food. It is a small round promise that you will come home.”
(D)
Should Students Celebrate Western Festivals?
Christmas, Halloween and Valentine’s Day are becoming more and more popular among Chinese teenagers. Some schools hold Christmas parties, and many young people send Halloween candies to friends. This has started a debate: should middle school students celebrate Western festivals?
Some people say yes. In their opinion, Western festivals give young people a chance to relax and have fun with friends. They also argue that celebrating them helps students learn about other cultures, which is important in a global world. “We don’t celebrate them instead of our own festivals,” one student said. “We just enjoy more happy days.”
Others disagree. They worry that young people may care more about Santa Claus than about the Dragon Boat Festival. “If a student can tell you everything about Christmas but nothing about Qingming, something is wrong,” one parent said. They believe schools should guide students to love Chinese culture first.
Perhaps both sides have a point. Festivals, Western or Chinese, are really about the same thing — sharing joy with people around us. The real question is not whether to celebrate, but whether we remember who we are while enjoying them.
32. What is the debate about?
A. Whether Western festivals are fun.
B. Whether schools should hold parties.
C. Whether parents like Christmas.
D. Whether students should celebrate Western festivals.
33. What do some students think of celebrating Western festivals?
A. It gives them more happy days and helps them learn about other cultures.
B. It is more important than Chinese festivals.
C. It takes too much of their time.
D. It makes them forget Chinese culture.
34. What do the parent’s words in Paragraph 3 suggest?
A. Students know too much about Christmas.
B. Schools should stop all Western festivals.
C. Qingming is the most important festival.
D. Students should know Chinese culture well.
35. What is the writer’s opinion?
A. Students should only celebrate Chinese festivals.
B. Students can enjoy festivals but should remember who they are.
C. Western festivals are better than Chinese ones.
D. Schools should cancel Christmas parties.
D 33. A 34. D 35. B
第一段最后一句明确点出了辩论的核心:“This has started a debate: should middle school students celebrate Western festivals?”(这引发了一场辩论:中学生是否应该庆祝西方节日?)。
根据第二段内容,支持者认为这让他们有机会放松和朋友玩乐(relax and have fun),有助于学习其他文化(learn about other cultures),而且学生原话提到“We just enjoy more happy days.”。
(The real question is not whether to celebrate, but whether we remember who we are while enjoying them.)。
Almost everyone wants to learn a second language, but not everyone knows how. Here are five habits that really work.
1. Pick a small goal.
Many learners write “I will be fluent (流利的) this year” on the first page of a new notebook. ____36____ “Order a meal in English by June” is a goal you can really check.
2. ____37____
Ten minutes every day beats two hours once a week. Language is built by small, repeated steps, not by big jumps. Read a page, listen to a song, or say five new sentences—just do it every day.
3. ____38____
Don't wait until you feel “ready”. Say the new sentence to a friend, write a short message, or sing a song in the language. Mistakes are not failures; they are steps that lead you forward.
4. ____39____
Words live in stories, not in lists. Put every new word into a sentence about your own life. “Delicious” is easy to forget; “The noodles my mother cooks are delicious” stays with you.
5. ____40____
Learning a language is a long walk, not a sprint. On days when nothing seems to stay in your head, look back at how far you have come—and then take one more small step.
A. Use the language as soon as you can.
B. Practise a little every day.
C. Put new words into sentences of your own.
D. Keep going, even when progress is slow.
E. Instead, choose one small, checkable goal.
F. Compare yourself with others every day.
G. Learn by translating every word into Chinese.
E 37. B 38. A 39. C 40. D
前文提到很多学习者定下“I will be fluent this year”这种宏大目标,后文举例“Order a meal in English by June”是可以检验的小目标。E项“Instead, choose one small, checkable goal.”
A项“Use the language as soon as you can.”
C项“Put new words into sentences of your own.”
D项“Keep going, even when progress is slow.”

Fifteen-year-old Wang Yue was one of them. A year ago, she was so shy that she could not finish a single sentence in front of the class. “I would shake all over,” she said. “And once I forgot my words, I just wanted to run away.”
Her English teacher, Mr. Li, gave her a small suggestion: “Record yourself reading one paragraph every day. Listen to it, and then read it better the next day.” Wang Yue followed the advice for six months. Slowly, her voice became steadier, and she began to enjoy reading aloud.
In the final, she told the story of how morning running had made her stronger and more confident (自信的). When she finished, the hall broke into cheers.

For many Chinese people, the round moon is a symbol of reunion (团圆). “The moon in ____45____ (we) hometown is the brightest,” goes a famous Chinese saying. Although some people cannot go back home, they can still look up at ____46____ same moon and feel close to their families.
Today, mooncakes are not only a traditional food. ____47____ (recent), young bakers have created new flavors such as milk tea and ice cream.
