第一节(满分15分)
A Day with Our Living Heritage
Last Friday, our school held an Intangible Cultural Heritage Day on the central
square.Local artists demonstrated paper-cutting,tie-dyeing and shadow puppetry,and
over 600 students joined in.
At the paper-cutting table,an old artist turned a plain red square into a lively rabbit
in under a minute, winning loud applause.Nearby, students watched blue patterns slowly
appear on white cloth. What impressed me most was my deskmate holding up her paper
butterfly, her hands still shaking but her smile bright.
The event brought traditional crafts to life and planted cultural pride in us.Many are
already asking for it again next spring.
第二节(满分25分)
Within hours,Tash's post had been shared hundreds of times.Strangers left
suggestions, and a few offered to drive the letter to Perth themselves. Then a woman living
down the road from a certain Dawn Kierans wrote,"I've spoken with Dawn-we're pretty

sure it's for her.Tash called at once and reached Dawn, who confirmed everything with
a laugh of relief.Since Tash had a full mail route during the week, she decided to deliver
the letter in person on her day off. That evening, she carefully placed the envelope in her
bag, keeping it safe for the weekend.
On Saturday morning,Tash pulled up in front of a small white house on Route 3.
Dawn opened the door, and the moment she saw the childish handwriting, her hand flew to
her mouth. She read the letter twice before she could speak. Then she laughed and shared
the story of a Mother's Day card years earlier, which had been sent by Abby's mother and
addressed only "To Mom at RR3 Perth."Seeing this,Tash smiled, knowing this was
exactly why she loved her job.She got to be out in the community every day.She still
hopes to meet Abby when camp is over.

Text 1
M:Mary, could you help me carry these boxes upstairs? My back really hurts today.
W:Of course.Just let me water the plants first-I'll be with you in five minutes.
M:No hurry.I'll start with the lighter ones.
Text 2
W:You're going out without a coat? It's supposed to drop below ten degrees tonight.
M:I'm only walking to the corner shop.I'll be back in ten minutes.
W:Even so,take my umbrella.They say it'll rain later.
Text 3
M:Excuse me,I'd like to renew these two books. And do you have the latest issue of
National Geographic?
W:The books are due next Friday. But magazines can't be taken out-you can read them
here in the reading room.
Text 4
W:The meeting has been moved to half past three. Can you still make it?
M:I have a dentist's appointment at two.It usually takes about an hour,so yes-I
should be free by three fifteen.
Text 5
M:I bought this jacket here last week, but the zip is broken.Could I have my money
back?
W:I'm afraid we only offer exchanges for items bought in the sale. You're welcome to
choose anything of the same price.
Text 6
M:Ms Carter,I'm thinking of giving up the chemistry course. It's taking up all my time.
W:That's a big decision,Tom.You're doing well in it.Have you talked it over with your
parents?
M:Not yet.But I need more hours at my part-time job-my rent has gone up.
W:Why not cut your shifts down to two a week? You'd still have time for the course.
M:I hadn't thought of that.I'll give it a try.
Text 7
M:Good morning.I'd like to book a table for Saturday evening.
W:Certainly.For how many people?
M:Six.And could we sit by the window? It's my parents'wedding anniversary.
高三英语答案第3页(共8页)》
W:I'm afraid all the window tables are taken on Saturday. But I can offer you a quiet
corner table, and I'll add a small cake for the occasion-at no extra cost.
M:That's very kind. What time do you open?
W:At six. We'd suggest arriving by half past six,as it gets busy.
M:Let's make it seven,then.
Text 8
W:Have you tried the new AI study assistant our school has just introduced?
M:Yes,I used it for my history essay. It suggested some sources I'd never have found on
my own.
W:Same here. But our teacher said we mustn't let it do the writing for us.
M:Right. She wants us to use it for ideas, and then write everything ourselves.
W:And she'll be checking whether our writing style suddenly changes.
M:That makes sense.It's a tool,not a shortcut.
Text 9
M:Sofia, you spent last term studying in Canada. What surprised you most?
W:How early everything closes! Most shops shut at six,so people really plan their
evenings.
M:Was it hard to make friends?
W:At first,yes.But I joined the school's hiking club,and that changed everything.We
went out almost every weekend.
M:What advice would you give students who are thinking of going abroad?
W:Learn to cook before you go.Eating out every day is expensive, and cooking together is
the quickest way to make friends.
Text 10
Good morning, everyone, and welcome to the Riverside Community Garden. We are
open to the public every Saturday, from nine in the morning until four in the afternoon.
Before you start, here are a few things to remember. The garden is divided into three
areas:the vegetable plots on your left, the flower beds in the middle, and the children's
play area at the back. Please keep to the paths-the soil is easily damaged after rain.
Our volunteers,in green shirts, are happy to answer any questions. At eleven o'clock, our
head gardener,Mr Brown, will give a talk about growing tomatoes in small spaces. It lasts
about forty minutes and takes place in the greenhouse. And if you'd like to take something
home, there are free seed packets at the entrance-one per family, please. Finally, the
cafe by the gate serves tea and cakes until half past three.Enjoy your visit.

As a child I was a straight-A student who followed every rule.College was never in doubt:
neither my parents nor I imagined skipping it.My choices were wide, yet I applied to only two
universities-Marquette,to please a family of Marquette alumni(),and the University of
Montana, which was a pure inner feeling.
I wanted mountains where bears lived.I had spent my whole life in the Midwest and longed for
something new.The summer before I left,I visited Glacier National Park.A cold wind tore across
the lake while lightning struck the peaks.I stood still, fascinated by a wild world I simply had to
know.
When my high school guidance counsellor-I will call him Mr.D-heard about my plans,
he shook his head."Try Boston,"he said."Boston is full of opportunity. If you go to Montana,
you will never get anything out of it."
I left his office annoyed. In ten minutes he had brushed aside everything I knew about myself at
seventeen.I did not want the safe, bookish(书呆子气的)life he pictured;I wanted a little grit and
uncertainty. It was the boldness()of his advice that pushed me the other way.I went west,
and I found opportunity.
Mr.D died several years ago.I think of him now and then,no longer with anger but with
something close to gratitude. He made me see that I could choose the life I wanted, and that people
in authority do not always know better.
Sometimes I wonder who I would be if I had taken his advice.Would I have met my Montana-bom
husband?Would I have worked for a newspaper and would writing have become a career at all?
I cannot know. But this evening I am watching light colours spread across the sky in New
Mexico as the sun sets behind the mountains. And I know that I was meant to choose the mountains.
24.Why did the author apply to the University of Montana?
A.She followed her heart.
B.It promised her a scholarship
C.Her parents had both studied there

D.It was the only college near mountains

D.Angry that her own judgement had been rejected.
26.What does the underlined word "grit"in Paragraph 4 probably mean?

B.A City Full of Opportunity
C.The Choice I Would Make Again
D.The Advice I Should Have Taken

Look closely at the ground beneath America's largest cities, and you will find it is slowly giving
way.A recent study in the journal Nature Cities examined the 28 most densely populated cities in
the United States.Every one of them, the researchers report,is sinking to some degree.
The scale is striking. In 25 of the 28 cities, land is sinking across more than two-thirds of the
urban area.Roughly 34 million people live in the affected zones, where sinking ground can crack
roads, damage buildings and raise the risk of flooding.
Houston is sinking fastest. In more than 40 per cent of the city, the ground drops by over five
millimetres a year;in places the land falls as much as five centimetres annually.
The biggest cause is the pumping()of groundwater, which accounts for about 80 per cent
of the sinking. When water is removed from underground layers, the spaces it once filled collapse and
the surface above settles.Oil and gas extraction(),especially in Texas, adds to the problem.
Not all of the movement is our doing.Parts of New York,Chicago and Denver are still adjusting
to the disappearance of ice sheets some 20,000 years ago;the land beneath the ice has been rising
again ever since. The weight of the buildings themselves plays a smaller part.
Lead author Leonard Ohenhen of Columbia University's Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory
notes that sinking is often invisible from the street, yet its effects are not:sinking land shortens the
life of roads, railways and pipelines, and leaves cities more exposed when storms arrive.
The good news is that the main cause can be managed.Cities that have regulated groundwater
use have slowed their sinking measurably. What is needed now,the authors argue,is better
monitoring-and the political will to act on what the measurements reveal.
28.What did the study find about the 28 cities?
A.All of them are sinking to varying degrees.
B.Only the largest ones are at risk of flooding.
C.Their populations are falling as the land sinks.
D.Most of them are sinking faster than expected.
29.What is the leading factor of the sinking?
A.The weight of tall buildings.
B.The removal of groundwater.
C.The extraction of oil and gas.
D.The melting of ancient ice sheets.
30.What can be inferred about the sinking of America's big cities?
A.It is limited to a few coastal cities
B.It is caused by the weight of tall buildings.
C.It has been going on for thousands of years.
D.It affects far more than the buildings above it.
高三英语试题第5页(共10页)
31.What is the authors'attitude towards the future of big cities?
A.Openly doubtful.
B.Deeply pessimistic.
C.Cautiously optimistic.
D.Completely indifferent.

Cities are noisy, grey and increasingly stressful.Could a small patch of restored forest change
that?Researchers at North Carolina State University set out to test whether nature's sights and sounds
improve mental health and whether one matters more than the other.
The researchers gathered 106 participants together. Each sat for ten minutes in one of two
places:a restored riverside forest,planted between 2002 and 2006,or a nearby built-up area(
)with little greenery. While they sat, they wore noise-canceling headphones playing either
birdsong or traffic noise.Location and sound were assigned at random,so the team could separate
the effect of the place from that of the sound.
Before and after each session, participants reported how stressed they felt, how positive and
negative their emotions were, and how"restored"they felt,a measure psychologists call perceived
restorativeness(感知恢复性).
The results were clear. Both the setting and the soundtrack()influenced every measure,
and the two worked together. The forest-plus-birdsong combination produced the best outcome on all
counts:the lowest stress, the strongest positive emotions and the greatest sense of being restored.
Sitting in the grey urban area listening to traffic produced the worst results, while the two
mismatched combinations fell in between.
"Positive emotions went up,negative emotions went down, stress went down, and perceptions
of feeling restored went up more than in any other combination,"said Nils Peterson,a professor at
NC State and the study's lead author.
The findings support two long-standing ideas in psychology:that nature helps people recover
from mental tiredness, and that it softens the body's response to stress.Birdsong,in particular, may
be among the most accessible forms of nature-hearing it requires no equipment and no effort.
Perhaps most importantly, the forest was not ancient woodland but land restored only two
decades ago, which, the authors argue, provides evidence that a modest green space supporting
birds can improve the health of people living nearby.
32.How were the participants tested in the experiment?
A.They walked through the forest while listening to music.
B.They chose their own setting and soundtrack before reporting.
C.They sat in one of two settings while hearing one of two sounds.
D.They compared the forest with the city over two separate weeks.
33.Why did the team assign location and sound at random?
A.To make the experiment easier to carry out.
B.To make sure every participant felt equally relaxed.
C.To check whether the headphones worked properly.
D.To distinguish the effect of the place from that of the sound.

Artificial intelligence (AI)enables machines to perform human-like tasks, learning and
adapting while processing large amounts of data.36 Few technologies have entered classrooms
so quickly, with no sign of slowing. These systems, recognizing speech, translating languages and
making decisions, are changing how students learn and teachers work.
The benefits are already visible.Administrators use AI to organize timetables and paperwork,
freeing teachers to spend more time with students. They can also find patters that humans might
miss.By studying patterns in test results and attendance, schools can identify leamers who are
falling behind before it is too late.37
AI tools work in different ways.Reporting tools describe what has happened-the results of a
term's assessments,for instance.Reactive tools respond to a student's actions in real time,such as
a language app that corrects pronunciation as you speak.38 Tools of this third kind can war a
school that a student is likely to struggle next term.
39 Privacy is one concem, since AI systems depend on large amounts of personal data.
There is also a risk that programmes trained on past records will repeat past unfaimess, giving some
students fewer opportunities than others.Teachers, meanwhile, may fear that technology is
replacing their judgement rather than supporting it.
Whatever problems remain,AI seems certain to play a larger part in education.40
Schools that introduce AI thoughtfully now are preparing students for the workplaces of tomorrow-
and teaching them to ask what such tools should, and should not,be allowed to do.
A.Using AI well, however,is not without difficulty.
B.Schools are learning about AI's influence on education.
C.AI can then provide personalized learning help for those studenis
D.Some students,of course, still prefer to learn from a human teacher.
E.Predicting what may happen next is a third and more ambitious use.
F.Teachers should therefore check every answer that the software produces.
G.Employers increasingly expect workers who can cooperate with intelligent machines.

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Tash Villeneuve had been delivering mail in Perth,Ontario, for more than ten years. She knew
every bend of Route 3,a country route of over 800 homes, and she liked to think that she knew the
people behind the mailboxes, too."A country route,"she often said,"is really a long street of
neighbours who simply live far apart."
One hot afteroon in July,a small envelope turned up among the usual piles. It was addressed
in the round, careful letters of a child:"To Grandma from Abby."There was no street name,no
house number and no return address, only the postal code shared by every family on Route 3.Tash
tumed the envelope over twice.Abby, she guessed, was away at summer camp, writing home the
way children do.Her grandmother, then, was somewhere among those 800 families. But which
one?"If I guess wrong,"Tash thought,"a stranger opens a letter that isn't theirs,and Abby's
grandma never learns it was written to her."
Back at the post office,a colleague shrugged."No name,no address-it goes to the shredder
()"Tash said nothing. The rules, she knew, were made for letters that nobody was waiting
for.This one was different.
She thought of the girl far from home, waiting for an answer that might never come, and of the
grandmother who might wonder why Abby had forgotten her.Throwing the letter away felt wrong;
keeping it in her bag helped no one.
Then an idea came to her.She laid the envelope on the counter, took a photo of it,and then
typed a short message:"This letter is on my route today. Can anyone help me find Abby's grandma?"
Before she could change her mind, she posted the photo and message online."Let's just see what
happens,"she said to herself.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Within hours,Tash's post had been shared hundreds of times.
On Saturday morning,Tash pulled up in front of a small white house on Route 3.
