A new subway line will open next month. Once IT starts running, you won't have to leave early to catch a bus. Yeah, I can get to work . in just fifteen minutes if I take the subway. We don't need to consider buying a car now. Did you make me up yesterday evening? Yes, I wanted you to come over and meet my cousin who had just come from the united states, but your mother said that you were . in evening classes. Yeah, that's right. Did you ring me up yesterday evening? Yes, I wanted you to come over and meet my cousin who had just come from the united states, but your mother said that you were . in evening classes. Yeah, that's right. Nice costume. thanks. My three year old son picked IT out. He's crazy about dinosaurs, cars and trains, but he said, wheel in a marathon would be cheating. So are you running for charity? I always do. At first I ran for the worldwide d life fun. Then the year my son was born, I raised one thousand five hundred dollars for cancer research. That's amazing. Also. for the past few years, i've been running for our local hospital special care baby unit. That's wonderful. I've never run for charity before. I'm just hoping to set a new personal best today. There's nothing wrong with having personal goals, but I definitely recommended when the pain kicks in. Remembering those your helping really keeps you going. Good point. And i've been considering the charity concern for elders. great. Oh, IT seems we're setting off in a moment. Good luck. thanks. Then we never know what's really happened because no two people see things the same way, and they changed their minds from data day. True, but that's exactly what the author wanted to put across. Unfortunately, we've already filled all server positions. However, we do have an opening for a host. You'll greet and guide guests to their tables, ensuring they have a pleasant start to their meal. Are you open to that? Thanks for calling. I was mainly looking for something serving tables. I used to bring food and drinks . to the customers. I understand, but being a host can be a great experience too. It's a fantastic way to develop your communication skills and get a full picture of how the restaurant Operates. You'll have a similar salary and it's a bit more relaxed. That sounds interesting, but i'm not sure about working alone at the front of the restaurant. I'm a bit nervous about handling everything by myself. especially during busy hours. There's always at least one more host on shift with you so you have support and IT won't feel . difficult rested in the host position. Then excEllent, we just need gradual one more appointment to chat with the boss and the shift manager, then you'll be able to start your training. sure. That sounds good. Now I want to tell you about a fantastic new exhibition of the science museum. It's called a changing world and is all about global warming. The first thing you'll notice when you walk in is hundreds of pairs of willing ton boots. Everyone needs to wear a pair of these because the whole exhibition area is flooded with water. The idea is to show what will happen if sea levels continue derives IT really makes you think one of the best displays is the one about the arctic. In this room there is a huge block of eyes, which is slowly becoming liquid. There are also a number of photographs which show really clearly how the sea is disappearing year after year. As you walk around the exhibition, you'll see that all over the wolves, there are posters which explain the causes and effects of global warming. The content was written especially for the exhibition by a number of well known scientists. So you can be sure you are getting the most up to date information possible at the end of the exhibition. There are some computers. You can use these to send emails, either to politicians telling them what you want them to do, or friends. You can let them know what you have learned or give them some advice on what they can do to stop global warming. Now I want to tell you about a fantastic new exhibition of the science museum. Really, I didn't notice that what's IT for it's to help . us handle pressure from exams and relationships. Many of us are actually stressed out lately. That's a good idea. Do they have professional teachers there? sure. And they offer one to one talk. Sometimes they will invite experts to give lectures on stress management. For students with serious troubles, they will help them contact doctors at the school hospital. That's great. How can we get help? You can either walk directly or call them at six, three, five, two, nine, eight, seven, one to make an appointment. It's open from four to six o'clock every weekday afternoon. Thank you for telling me so much. I think I will be a warm place for all of us. I hope so. I just wanted to really help us not just be for show. Hi, jack. We'd better leave home at 1:50. W: But the traffic is heavy at this hour. Let's go at 1:40. Q: When will the speakers leave home? A. At 1:40. B. At 1:50. C. At 2:30. 【答案】A。 What are the speakers talking about? / What is the main topic of the conversation? 2:W: Did you see the film about space travel last night? M: I wanted to, but I had to finish my report. I'll watch it this weekend. Q: What are the speakers mainly talking about? A. A film. B. A report. C. A space trip. 【答案】A。 What is the probable relationship between the speakers? 靠称呼、语气与典型用语判断——Can I help you?(售货员/服务员);May I see your passport?(海关人员);How are you feeling today?(医生)。 2. Where does the conversation most probably take place? What is the man's job? What does the man think of…? 3:M: Good morning. What can I do for you? W: I'd like to open a savings account, please. Q: Where does the conversation most probably take place? A. In a bank. B. In a shop. C. In a post office. A。 What will the man do next? / What does the woman suggest? / What are they going to do? Why not…? / How about…? / You'd better… / Shall we…?;2. 表已完成,I'm going to… 4:W: The weather is nice today. Shall we go to the beach? M: I'd love to, but I have to pick up my sister at the airport at three. Q: What will the man do this afternoon? A. Go to the beach. B. Meet his sister. C. Stay at home. 表4 十大高频场景核心词块 场景 核心词块 校园学习 semester 学期;assignment 作业;lecture 讲座;deadline 截止日期;exam schedule 考试安排;sign up for 报名 购物消费 on sale 促销;discount 折扣;size 尺码;receipt 收据;refund 退款;cash or card 现金或刷卡 餐饮就餐 book a table 订座;menu 菜单;order 点餐;bill 账单;tip 小费;vegetarian 素食的 旅游出行 book a room 订房;sightseeing 观光;guide 导游;check in / out 入住、退房;departure 出发;luggage 行李 酒店住宿 reservation 预订;single / double room 单人间、双人间;room service 客房服务;laundry 洗衣;front desk 前台 就医问诊 symptom 症状;fever 发烧;take medicine 服药;prescription 处方;appointment 预约;recover 康复 银行邮政 open an account 开户;deposit 存款;withdraw 取款;interest rate 利率;stamp 邮票;parcel 包裹 交通出行 traffic jam 堵车;take a taxi 打车;subway 地铁;rush hour 高峰时段;platform 站台;delay 延误 天气气候 sunny 晴朗;shower 阵雨;forecast 预报;temperature 气温;foggy 有雾;freezing 严寒 工作求职 interview 面试;resume 简历;apply for 申请;salary 薪水;full-time / part-time 全职、兼职;experience 经验 五、考场三步流程与速记技巧 (一)听前预读 利用“试音时间”和每段材料前的停顿抢读题目。 先读题干,圈出疑问词(when / where / who / how much),明确听的目标;2. 注意力集中在实词与信号词上:but / however(转折)、actually(更正)、so / therefore(结论)、not…but(否定)、suggest / recommend(建议)。 M: It leaves at 9:15. But there are twenty minutes left. Let's hurry. Q: What time is it now? A. At 8:55. B. At 9:15. C. At 9:35. 【答案】A。 演练题2:价格折扣计算 (听音文稿)M: How much is this T-shirt? W: It's 80 yuan. But if you buy two, you can get a 20% discount. M: OK, I'll take two. Q: How much will the man pay? A. 160 yuan. B. 128 yuan. C. 96 yuan. 演练题3:地点场景推断 (听音文稿)W: I'd like a table for two, please. M: Sure. This way, please. Here is the menu. Q: Where does the conversation most probably take place? A. In a restaurant. B. In a hotel. C. In a library. A。a table for two(两人桌)与 menu(菜单)共同锁定餐厅场景。 演练题4:人物关系推断 (听音文稿)M: I'm afraid I've left my homework at home, Mrs. Green. W: Then bring it to my office after class. Q: What is the probable relationship between the speakers? A. Teacher and student. B. Doctor and patient. C. Boss and secretary. 【答案】A。 M: Let me have a look. Open your mouth, please. Q: What is the man's job? A. A teacher. B. A dentist. C. A driver. 【答案】B。tooth hurts(牙痛)与 open your mouth(张嘴检查)是口腔诊疗的标志性动作。 演练题6:主旨大意 (听音文稿)W: Have you heard that the school library will be closed next week for repair? M: Really? Then where can I borrow books? Q: What are the speakers mainly talking about? A. The library repair. B. The book sale. C. The coming exam. 【答案】A。 演练题7:态度观点 (听音文稿)M: How do you like the new English teacher? W: Well, his lessons are a bit fast, but he explains grammar really clearly. Q: What does the woman think of the new teacher? A. His lessons are too slow. B. He explains grammar clearly. C. He is not patient. 【解析】A 与原文 a bit fast(有点快)相反;C 原文未提及。 演练题8:计划行动 (听音文稿)W: The movie starts at 7:30. Shall we have dinner first? M: I've already eaten. Let's meet at the cinema at 7:00. Q: What will the man do first? A. Have dinner. B. Go to the cinema. C. Cook at home. 演练题9:建议 (听音文稿)M: I can't decide which major to choose. W: Why not talk with the career advisor first? Q: What does the woman suggest the man do? A. Choose a major immediately. B. Ask the career advisor. C. Change his mind. 【答案】B。Why not…? Why not / How about / You'd better Why did you stay up so late? M: I had to finish my physics report. The deadline is tomorrow morning. Q: Why did the man stay up late? A. To watch a match. B. To finish his report. C. To prepare for a test. B。had to finish my physics report 原因题要抓 because / had to / so 等因果信号词后面的内容。 1.What are the speakers going to do at the weekend? However, open windows also allow noise to enter the room, which can make it difficult to rest, study, or sleep. To deal with this everyday problem, researchers at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore have developed a device. The research team, led by Bhan Lam, attached 24 small speakers to a window grille (铁栅栏) in an 8-by-3 arrangement. A sensor was placed outside the window to detect incoming sounds. After receiving the sound signal, the system made the speakers produce sound waves that could weaken part of the unwanted noise before it spread further into the room. In indoor experiments, the team played recorded road, train, and aircraft noise from a loudspeaker placed 2 meters away from the window. In these controlled conditions, the system was able to reduce the noise level by up to 10 decibels (分贝) in some cases. This did not mean the noise disappeared completely, but it became clearly less noticeable. For people living near busy roads, even this level of reduction could make a room feel more comfortable. The device worked best on low-frequency transport noise, especially in the 300 to 1,000 hertz range. These sounds included much of the background noise produced by cars, buses, and trains. Speech and other sharp sounds were more likely to slip through, with those sounds often carrying higher-frequency details that this design struggled to cancel. “This idea is similar to noise-cancelling headphones, which usually work best against steady background sounds such as the hum of an engine,” said Lam. The speakers used in the experiments were quite small, so they could not handle very deep low-frequency noise well. Larger speakers might improve performance, but they could also block more sunlight and reduce the view from the window. In the future, the researchers hope to test the device in real homes and improve its design for everyday use. 1.What can the device be used to do? A.Reduce noise through open windows. B.Prevent sounds from outside environments. C.Test the function of indoor speakers. D.Monitor the situation of urban noise. 2.What aspect of the device is discussed in paragraph 2? A.Its practical application. B.Its appearance design. C.Its working principle. D.Its market value. 3.What is the shortcoming of the device? A.It struggles to reduce transport noise. B.It fails to be applied in different scenes. C.It has no equal to the effect of headphones. D.It is less effective in blocking speech sounds. 4.What can be inferred about the device from the last paragraph? A.It works well in real life. B.It requires further improvement. C.It needs to be made larger. D.It delivers satisfying performance. B Does AI need a psychologist? The question sounds absurdly relevant. Today, a fascinating Wall Street Journal essay by Cameron Berg asks a timely and serious version of that question. He argues that as AI becomes increasingly complex, we might need to start studying them less like tech and more like minds. So, let’s throw another log on the AI conflagration of promise and pitfalls. I think this argument is provocative and worth wide discussion. And the scientific literature tells an interesting story. We’re beginning to see internal “patterns” in LLMs (large language models) we might describe as a sort of emotion or motivation. In one experiment that Berg discusses, researchers changed the internal activity associated with desperation in the LLM they were studying, Claude. They saw significant and curious increases in behaviors like cheating. What I find particularly interesting is that the language produced by the LLM remained outwardly calm. Something had changed inside the system that wasn’t obvious from what it was saying. Certainly an interesting question for today’s Dr. Freud. Still, Berg makes a key point. AI is becoming increasingly difficult to understand simply by looking at outputs. He argues that we need a new science — artificial psychology — capable of examining what’s happening inside these artificial networks and understanding how those internal states influence behavior. He states it succinctly. But as I thought about his editorial, I found myself considering the other mind in the room. Ours. I’ve written a good deal about how AI is beginning to separate the product of thought from the process of thinking. Traditionally, an essay or analysis served as some evidence that cognition occurred. We couldn’t see the thinking, so we inferred it from what a person produced. I believe that generative AI breaks that relationship. And here’s where Berg’s argument becomes even more interesting, at least to me. With AI, sophisticated language may conceal an internal process we don’t understand. With humans using AI, sophisticated language may conceal an internal process that never happened. And in this context, psychology may suddenly have two very different problems. The first is understanding the increasingly strange computational systems we’re building. That’s Berg’s central thesis. The second, hidden in our mundane (世俗的) humanity, is understanding what interacting with those systems is doing to human cognition. These two problems seem to exist in a sort of cognitive balance, shifting as our needs demand. So, maybe that’s where the psychological question becomes most important. We are spending enormous resources trying to understand what’s happening inside artificial intelligence, as we should. But at the same time, billions of humans are beginning an unprecedented cognitive experiment (relationship) with machines that supplement, challenge, and replace the very thinking that makes us human. So, does AI need a psychologist? Perhaps, but the psychologist might want to keep an eye on us too. 5.The underlined word “conflagration” is closest in meaning to ________. A.peaceful and widely accepted agreement B.great technical improvement in AI systems C.an intense and spreading controversy or debate D.an emerging and underexplored research project 6.What does the author mention about the experiment on Claude? A.Claude showed obvious emotional shifts in its outward language. B.Changing internal activity in the LLM can alter its external behavior. C.Researchers confirmed LLMs have exactly the same desperation feeling as humans. D.Cheating is the most common behavior for all large language models. 7.What can be inferred from paragraphs 6–8 about human users of AI? A.Their fluent output may hide the fact that deep thinking never happened. B.Their cognition level will quickly improve with frequent AI use. C.They usually spend more time editing AI output than writing themselves. D.They always produce higher quality content than people writing without AI. 8.Which of the following best summarizes the main idea of the passage? A.AI has surpassed human intelligence, so psychologists should focus only on machines. B.Large language models like Claude are proven to have real emotions and need therapy. C.Berg’s essay claims AI should be regulated by governments before further study. D.We need psychology for AI, but we also need to weigh its impact on human cognition. C Today, Mars is a cold and dry desert. But there is evidence that billions of years ago, it had a thick atmosphere and liquid water, making it a promising place to look for signs of past life. The mudstones, found in a dusty riverbed by NASA’s Perseverance Rover, are dotted with interesting markings named leopard spots and poppy seeds. Scientists believe these features contain minerals produced by chemical reactions that could be associated with ancient Martian microbes (微生物). The Perseverance Rover, which touched down on the Martian surface in 2021, was sent to search for signs of biology. It has spent the last four years exploring a region called the Jezero Crater, which was once an ancient lake with a river flowing into it. The rover found the leopard print rocks last year. They are about 3.5 billion years old and are a type of rock called mudstone, which is fine-grained rock formed from clays. The rover used several instruments in its onboard lab to analyze the minerals in the rocks. This data was then sent back to Earth for scientists to study. In similar conditions on Earth, chemical reactions that produce these minerals are typically driven by microbes. At a press conference, NASA said the features could be the clearest signs of past life yet found on Mars. However, the minerals could also have formed through geological processes without the involvement of microbes. The only way to fully confirm if the minerals were made by microbes would be to bring the rocks back to Earth for analysis. A Mars sample return mission has been proposed by NASA but its future looks highly uncertain. The US Space Agency’s science budget is facing huge cuts that have been put forward in President Trump’s 2026 budget and a sample return mission is one of those facing cancellation. NASA’s plans for such an effort hang in the balance because of the threatened budget cuts, but China is also pursuing a sample return mission that could launch in 2028. While the decision is debated, scientists are desperate to get their gloved hands on the rocks. 9.How does the author introduce the topic in the first paragraph? A.By drawing a contrast. D Living Fully in the Math World Wang Hong, a reserved mathematician wearing tortoiseshell glasses, rewrote global math history recently. She became the third woman worldwide and the first Chinese woman to win the Fields Medal, widely regarded as the Nobel Prize for mathematics. Wang spent her childhood in Guilin in the 1990s. Her parents were both schoolteachers, yet they never burdened her with academic pressure. She enjoyed reading storybooks, playing ball games and walking around Guilin’s scenic hills with her family. Even with various hobbies, math shone brightest. She finished all exercises in new textbooks before each semester and bought extra math books to solve all problems. She showed remarkable natural talent for math from an early age. At six, she solved a tricky geometry brainteaser faster than her math-teacher father. She loved math for its permanence. In middle school, Wang set her sights on majoring in mathematics at Peking University, but later failed to get the only provincial math admission spot and entered Peking University as an earth sciences student. Encouraged by her professor, she transferred to the math department, but hesitated between analysis and algebra for long. Her father then casually said analysis was easier than algebra. Still, determined not to let others’ casual remarks shape her final decision, Wang settled on algebra as her research focus, refusing to be swayed by outside opinions. In 2011, Wang pursued further study at France’s Ecole Polytechnique without knowing French. She overcame language difficulties and once tried architecture for one semester, but soon returned to math research. She stopped worrying about her ability and kept learning earnestly. Following Wang Hong’s award, a heart-warming scene circulated in news reports: her French supervisor Professor Lefevre stood by the doorway, watching her academic sharing session lovingly, with great relief and kindness. In his high praise for Wang Hong, the professor noted that few students could remain calm in the face of setbacks as she did. By winning the 2026 Fields Medal, she has proved that constant devotion can turn mathematical dreams into reality, blazing a trail for female researchers in mathematics. 13.What can we learn about Wang Hong as a child? A.She was the brightest girl from an early age. B.She displayed an exceptional inborn gift for math. C.Her outdoor hobbies prevented her from focusing on math. D.She worked out math problems with the assistance of her father. 14.Why did Wang finally choose algebra as her research focus? A.A tutor suggested algebra suited her strengths. B.Algebra was less difficult than analysis. C.She stuck to independent judgment. D.She had deep passion for algebra. 15.Which words best describe Wang Hong? A.Determined and persistent. B.Outgoing and sociable. C.Creative and modest. D.Ambitious and competent. 16.Where is the text probably taken from? A.A science fiction. B.Her autobiography. C.Daily newspaper. D.An academic journal. Erling Haaland was walking slowly, head down, around the field against Brazil. Every bowl I tasted as a child was rich with 32 (sweet), making me assume it required a long list of complex 33 (seasoning). In reality, the magic relies entirely on a single, transformative element: scallion (大葱) oil. The process embodies the subtle balance of traditional Chinese cooking. Raw, sharp scallions are gently slow-fried in neutral oil. The whites go into the pan first to soften, 34 (follow) by the bright greens, drawing out their natural sugars while 35 (reduce) their sharp bite. Within ten minutes, the oil takes in a grassy, caramelized (焦糖化的) flavour 36 instantly makes anything it touches taste better. While chili oil has captured global kitchens already, scallion oil 37 (remain) the essential, widely used ingredient of everyday Chinese cuisine. It is far easier to make than complex spice oils, requiring no precise temperature control. A jar in the fridge is 38 effortless gateway to authentic flavour. I either spoon it over delicate Cantonese-style steamed fish 39 use it to finish simple soups. Best of all, this traditional technique gives you a brilliant two-for-one reward. You get a beautifully fragrant oil, alongside the fried scallions 40 (they). For minimal effort, scallion oil delivers an 41 (incredible) rich return, proving why it is an essential core of Chinese comfort food. Skipping Breakfasts in Our Class How Often Breakfasts Are Skipped _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $I hate driving in winter, even on bright days like this. Having said that, their average weight is nothing compared to that of a lion. W: Are there a lot of them around here? M: In 2005, their numbers fell to around 100. Despite being one of the most threatened wild cat species, conservation efforts have helped their population grow across parts of Iberia. W: Iberia? M: It refers to the region that includes Spain, Portugal, Andorra, the British‑owned island of Gibraltar and a tiny part of southern France. This rare animal once lived throughout these areas, but now it is found only in parts of Spain and Portugal. It’s very sad, but at least things have improved. W: That’s encouraging. I believe future generations will still be able to witness these beautiful animals. 18.What was special about the creature according to the speaker? A.Its bright colors. B.Its ability to shine. C.Its unusual shape. 19.How does the creature hunt for food? A.By changing its skin color. B.By attracting targets with its light. C.By using other creatures’ harmful arms. 20.What does the speaker like best about the creature? A.Its high intelligence. B.Its thoughtful care for eggs. C.Its surprising size difference. 【答案】18.A 19.C 20.C 【原文】    I expected to see some interesting wildlife when I went on a tour around Lady Elliot Island in Australia. I was ready for almost anything — until a brightly colored “alien” swam just a few meters away!     Once recovered from the shock, I realized it was a blanket octopus It was small, with bright purple, orange, and blue colors. I knew some sea creatures can shine in dark waters, but this one stood out with its bright colors instead.     The tour guide said blanket octopuses are a rare species, named for the thin sheets of skin connecting their arms. Since they have no poison of their own, they take arms from other dangerous sea creatures and use them to hunt for food. That’s surprisingly intelligent!     Blanket octopuses can also learn, remember, and copy behaviors from other octopuses. Female ones even protect their eggs carefully until they come out of their shells. But my favorite fact is that female blanket octopuses can grow up to two meters long, while males are usually no bigger than 2.5 centimeters! 1.Where does the conversation probably take place? The subway is usually much faster. W: Because the bus ticket is only one dollar! It costs only half as much, and we have plenty of time before the play starts. M: Well, look! Why has the bus come to a complete stop? W: The driver said a strong wind brought down a huge tree, and it’s lying across the avenue. No vehicles can get through. M: Oh no! We only have twenty minutes left. Can we run to the nearest subway station? W: That won’t save us much time — it’s over two kilometers from here. How about renting shared bikes? M: I’ve already checked. The ones nearby are either in use or out of order. W: Then we may have to stay on the bus and wait. M: Wait — the map says the theater is just around the corner, only about 500 meters away. W: In that case, let’s get off. If we hurry, we’ll arrive before the curtain goes up. 14.What does the man think AI will serve as in the future? A.An efficient assistant. B.A productive project leader. It’s called “A Changing World” and is all about global warming.    The first thing you’ll notice when you walk in is hundreds of pairs of Wellington boots. Everyone needs to wear a pair of these because the whole exhibition area is flooded with water. The idea is to show what will happen if sea levels continue to rise. It really makes you think!    One of the best displays is the one about the Arctic. In this room, there is a huge block of ice, which is slowly becoming liquid. There are also a number of photographs, which show really clearly how the sea ice is disappearing year after year.    As you walk around the exhibition, you’ll see that all over the walls there are posters which explain the causes and effects of global warming. The content was written especially for this exhibition by a number of well-known scientists, so you can be sure you are getting the most up-to-date information possible.    At the end of the exhibition, there are some computers. You can use these to send emails, either to politicians, telling them what you want them to do, or friends. The funds raised are crucial for the construction of the SOSD Care Center, a major step to accommodate more dogs in need. At present, SOSD cares for 160 dogs at its shelters and also feeds 70 homeless dogs wandering around on Jurong Island. During the event, visitors can meet several dogs seeking forever homes. These include Odin, recently rescued from an abandoned factory and now recovering from an eye injury; Caleb, a loving dog who was left behind after his owner moved away; and Tami, a fun companion rescued from a forest, who had surgery after suffering a severe leg injury. They are produced using modern handmade Xuan paper and high-quality color printing, which carefully preserves the size, weight, and handwritten notes of the original volumes. As you turn the pages, you are not just reading history — you’re witnessing the act of preservation itself. More than 600 years ago, Emperor Yongle of the Ming Dynasty ordered the creation of the Yongle Dadian. His goal was ambitious: to collect all known knowledge of China at the time into one great work. The Yongle Dadian brought together over 7,000 ancient classics, covering history, philosophy and so on, from the pre-Qin period to the early Ming Dynasty. To help visitors understand its scale, scholars often compare the Yongle Dadian to a library of knowledge, carefully written by hand and bound into thousands of volumes. Springfield to the north, Point Cabina Station to the east, and Galveston to the south are all in the safe zone. It will take less than thirty minutes to drive to any of these towns. Take as many things as you can fit in your car, but do not delay. We have orders from the state police to make sure that the entire town of Lakewood is empty by five o'clock today. Actually, there’s something interesting to see in every corner of Paris. The weather’s been great too. Some aspects of life here are different from those in the US. The most obvious thing is that there are much more activities in the streets. People gather together in open markets, cafes, parks and squares. Then, of course, there’s the food. It’s beautifully shown in windows and at markets. Everything is fresh. I’ve gained five pounds since I arrived. There are a few things that bother me, though. I’m still having a hard time with the language. People speak very fast and it’s hard to get them to repeat things. People, I think, are less warm here and it’s hard to make friends. I guess that can be true for us strangers in any big city in a new country. A People who live in warm cities often prefer to keep their windows open during the summer so that fresh air can come in. B.By using an example. C.By asking a question. D.By citing an opinion. 10.What is the role of the Perseverance Rover according to the passage? A.It sent back the rock samples. B.It performed the entire analysis. C.It confirms the biological origin. D.It serves as a mobile laboratory. 11.What does paragraph 3 suggest about the minerals? A.They prove that microbes still live on Mars. B.Their biological origin remains unconfirmed. C.They cannot form through geological processes. D.Their formation mechanism is similar to that on Earth. 12.What puts NASA’s Mars sample return mission at risk? A.The loss of contact with the rover. B.A shortage of suitable rock samples. C.The proposed reduction in science funding. D.The failure of the onboard instruments.
