In a classroom in Shenzhen, a young boy named Xu Weixuan often dreamt about the future. While his friends talked about games, Xu was busy creating stories about spaceships and faraway planets. No one knew that this quiet boy was about to become a young writer.
It all started in primary school. After class, Xu spent many hours writing. He filled notebook after notebook. His hard work finally paid off—a 260,000-word science fiction novel titled Meteor was published. One exciting day, a letter arrived. He had won a third-class prize in a national writing competition. This success brought great joy to him and showed that his dream was achievable.
However, the road wasn’t always easy. He met difficulties finding the correct scientific facts. It was also hard to decide how the characters would solve problems on the moon. During these moments, he turned to the internet for research, and his mother was always there with a cup of milk and encouraging words, helping him organize his thoughts.
His curiosity grew beyond writing. He started learning about real space science and even won a prize in the National Youth Space Innovation (创新) Competition. This experience connected his imagination with real-world science, making his new book, Flying to the Moon, even richer.

We all want to do things well. However, growing up also includes accepting when things go wrong.
Aiming for good results can help you focus on your goals, but it’s also important to focus on enjoying the process. Getting too hung up on whether things go as planned can put a lot of pressure on you and lead to worry. That’s why it’s good to leave some room for mistakes and imperfections.
Dr Rekha Vara is a doctor who helps people with their mental health (心理健康). She says that getting things wrong is part of growing up. “We have to experience the uncomfortable feeling when we get things wrong. This helps us to become stronger,” says Dr Vara. “Or we’ll be too scared to make mistakes. This fear can lead us to put off doing difficult things or avoid trying new things.”
One study showed that students who were reminded to forgive (宽恕) and be kind to themselves after failing a test felt more encouraged to try again, while other students were less willing to try again.
Learning from your mistakes is necessary as you grow up. Try not to take them too seriously, blame (责备) yourself or feel too disappointed or upset, Dr Vara explains, “Remember, you’re only human. Everyone makes mistakes.” ________, but these feelings will pass, and you’ll feel better.
31. What does the underlined part in Paragraph 2 probably mean?
A. 执迷 B. 懊悔 C. 遗憾
32. Which of the following would Dr Vara agree with?
A. Fear leads us to try new things.
B. Failure is part of growing up.
C. People hardly ever get things wrong.
33. How does the writer support his idea in Paragraph 4?
A. By telling stories. B. By listing numbers. C. By giving an example.
34. Which of the following can we put in “________”?
A. Everyone will grow up
B. It’s normal to feel uncomfortable at first
C. You should enjoy your feelings
35. What’s the writer’s main purpose in writing this passage?
A. To introduce Dr Rekha Vara and her work on mental health.
B. To teach students how to pass exams.
C. To tell readers to accept mistakes and imperfections while growing up.

Have you ever felt like studying is a bit boring but watching someone else study makes you want to join in? You’re not alone. “Study with Me” is a new way you can try. The basic idea behind it is that watching someone else study motivates (激励) us to do the same.
“Study with Me” is a kind of online live broadcast(直播). It often shows real-time scenes of someone studying, in silence or with soft music. It creates a sense of companionship (陪伴) and provides shared focus, making learning more interesting and effective. That’s why more and more students around the world are attracted to it.
Why does watching someone else study make us want to study too? Scientists say it’s our natural habit to copy (模仿) the actions of those around us. We may follow their note-taking ways or use the same study tools. Also, we need social support: the learners on the screen are like secret study partners, and when we see them working hard, we might feel that we are part of them. It can inspire us to go through difficulties.
“Study with Me” can be helpful, but keep these in mind: First, set clear study goals to stay focused on our own work. Second, avoid depending on it too much, because true motivation should come from ourselves. Lastly, study with trustworthy people who have well-organized study plans.
In the digital age, learning ways are changing. “Study with Me” creates global connections and encourages students to enjoy learning through focus, fun and friendship.

My Happy Reading Time
My reading journey started when I was in Grade Five. My mother gave me a storybook as a birthday gift, and I was deeply attracted by the interesting stories.
Now reading has become part of my daily life. I spend about twenty minutes reading before bedtime every day. I enjoy science books and English stories. Sometimes I read on an e-reader, and sometimes I read paper books. I will write down beautiful sentences while reading.
Reading brings me a lot. It not only opens my eyes but also helps me pick up new words. Reading is my happy time, and I will keep this habit forever.
