One morning, we saw a sign. It gave all passengers a chance to take part in the Polar Plunge My husband and I stared at the sign. His face brightened, but I felt a wave of panic in my stomach. Hundreds of reasons not to do it filled my mind. “No way,” I said, “For starters, we’re much too old. The water’s freezing cold. I’m not much of a swimmer. Not only that,” I complained, “but it means I’d have to wear a swimsuit in public with so many people looking at my imperfect body.” He gave me a quick hug along with his warm smile. “We’ll never have another chance,” he insisted. My determination (决心) gradually weakened. My heart’s “No way” gave way to a weak “Maybe”. Finally, I forced myself to say, “Okay. Let’s go for it.” Dressed in my swimsuit, I was nervous and shaking with anxiety as I gathered with my husband and other participants in the lower part of the ship. I eyed the group. A daring teenager tried to be first in line, while a twenty-something woman in a swimsuit also stepped forward. The remaining participants ranged in age from active young people to middle-aged adults who were joking and laughing. We two eighty-year-olds were clearly the ancient, senior citizens of the group. Our turn came all too soon. We moved to the jump-off point, my legs shaking, but it was too late to turn back. We held each other’s hands together, took a deep breath, and took the Polar Plunge into the icy waters. After what seemed a century, we rose to the surface and swam to the safety platform. Shaking and laughing, I shouted excitedly, “I can’t believe I did that.” That afternoon, I gained my fame (名气) and became the focus of the day. In my memory, I’ve stored that moment of fame, and it will last for the rest of my life. That brief adventure filled me with confidence to face future difficulties. 4. What caused the author to change her mind about doing the Polar Plunge? A. Her husband’s encouragement. B. The end of her heart’s fear. C. Her will to make a change. D. The chance to become famous. 5. Why did the author describe other groups of participants in paragraph 3? A. To show the variety of participants in this event. B. To stress how proud she and her husband were. C. To reflect her lack of confidence in doing the task. D. To tell us Polar Plunge has gained great popularity. 6. What did people think of the author after she jumped? A. She was worth admiring for her courage. B. She performed better than other people. C. Her preparation for the jump was not enough. D. Her performance was rather skillful. 7. What does the author want to tell us through her experience? A. Once bitten, twice shy. B. Brave actions, unexpected gain. C. Actions speak louder than words. D. Where there is a will, there is a way. A 5. C 6. A 7. 根据第二段“He gave me a quick hug along with his warm smile. “We’ll never have another chance,” he insisted. My determination (决心) gradually weakened. My heart’s “No way” gave way to a weak “Maybe”. Finally, I forced myself to say, “Okay. Let’s go for it.”(他给我一个短暂的拥抱,脸上带着温暖的微笑。“我们不会再有这样的机会了。”他坚持说道。我的决心慢慢动摇,心底那句“绝对不行”变成一句迟疑的“或许可以”。最后,我勉强开口:“好吧,我们试一试。”)”可知,是丈夫的鼓励让作者改变主意,决定参加极地跳水。 【5题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段“Dressed in my swimsuit, I was nervous and shaking with anxiety as I gathered with my husband and other participants in the lower part of the ship. We two eighty-year-olds were clearly the ancient, senior citizens of the group.(我穿着泳衣,和丈夫以及其他参与者在船的下层集合,内心紧张,焦虑得浑身发抖。我们两个八十岁老人,在这群人里明显是年纪最大的。)”可知,作者描写其他参与者,是为了反衬自己高龄、内心紧张,体现出作者当时缺乏完成这项挑战的信心。 【6题详解】 细节理解题。根据第四段“Shaking and laughing, I shouted excitedly, “I can’t believe I did that.” That afternoon, I gained my fame (名气) and became the focus of the day.(我浑身发抖却大笑着,激动地大喊:“真不敢相信我做到了。” 那天下午,我出了名,成了当天大家关注的焦点。)”可知,作者高龄完成极地跳水,大家敬佩她的勇气,认为她值得称赞。 【7题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“That brief adventure filled me with confidence to face future difficulties.(这次短暂的冒险让我充满信心去面对未来的困难。)” C Ten years ago, at the height of blogging, I had a lovely little corner of the Internet where I shared my life with photos — until I got a stalker (跟踪狂). He sent me hundreds of pages of frightening notes along with a photo of my children’s school. Since then, I have never posted anything personal. So, when a group of friends and I went out to dinner recently and someone took out a phone for group photos, I did what I normally do and politely asked them not to post pictures of me. One friend, who updates her WeChat Moments daily, accused me of hating her. But it also got me thinking: Is it rude to post a photo of someone without asking first? Researchers at Carnegie Mellon University showed that by using a facial recognition tool on a photo of a stranger, they could get that person’s name, location, interests and even, in some cases, their Social Security number through social media. Beyond the surveillance system (监控体系), there are plenty of everyday reasons why people might not want to appear in a photo. They might dislike their appearance in pictures. Maybe they want to keep their personal information private, or they feel nervous when facing a camera. All of these reasons are valid. Here’s the other side, a big and practical one: we live in a world where photographing everything has become completely normal. If everyone needed permission (允许) from every person in the background of a group photo, social media would stop working. You’d need written permission papers at every gathering, a witness at every birthday party, and a law team on call just to post a brunch photo. As with most etiquette (礼仪) questions, the answer is, “It depends.” The relationship matters too — your best friend of 20 years is different from a work contact. And the platform on which the photo is shared is also an important matter. 8. Why did the author stop posting personal information online? A. She argued with her friend about photos. B. She suffered from a stalker’s threat. C. She found blogging unpopular at that time. D. She worried about her children’s school life. 9. What does the underlined word “valid” in paragraph 3 mean? A. Acceptable. B. Interesting. C. Confusing. D. Unexpected. 10. What is the best title for the text? A. Good Behaviors in Social Communication B. The Risk of Using Facial Recognition Tool C. How to Protect Your Personal Information Online D. Is It Rude to Post Others’ Photos Without Asking 11. What will the author probably discuss in the following paragraph? A. Ways to avoid being followed by a stalker online. B. Advice on choosing proper social media platforms. C. Tips to decide when to ask for photo permission. D. New research about facial recognition technology. B 9. A 10. D 11. 根据第一段“Ten years ago, at the height of blogging, I had a lovely little corner of the Internet where I shared my life with photos — until I got a stalker (跟踪狂). He sent me hundreds of pages of frightening notes along with a photo of my children’s school. Since then, I have never posted anything personal. (十年前博客盛行时期,我在网上分享生活照片,直到遭遇一名跟踪狂。他发来数百页恐吓便条,还有我孩子学校的照片。从那以后,我再也不发布任何个人信息。)”可知,作者因为受到跟踪狂的威胁,不再网上发布个人信息。 【9题详解】 词句猜测题。根据第三段“They might dislike their appearance in pictures. Maybe they want to keep their personal information private, or they feel nervous when facing a camera. All of these reasons are valid. 根据最后一段“As with most etiquette (礼仪) questions, the answer is, “It depends.” The relationship matters too — your best friend of 20 years is different from a work contact. And the platform on which the photo is shared is also an important matter. D When you’re feeling sad, angry or stressed, it might be easy to ask a chatbot (聊天机器人) for help. In fact, a new study of 12- to 21-year-olds showed that nearly 1 in 5 of them had turned to AI for mental (精神的) health support. That’s up from 1 in 8 just a few years ago. Clearly, there is a big need among young people for mental and emotional support. But chatbots aren’t real people with feelings. And free, general-use chatbots such as ChatGPT, Meta AI and Character AI are not designed to provide mental health support. They are not allowed to offer therapy (心理治疗) — or follow rules for treating patients — the way humans do. “A chatbot could help you learn more about mental health problems,” says Vaile Wright, a psychologist in Chicago. “An AI might even be able to offer some basic advice if you’re struggling in the moment and don’t know where else to turn. But treating a chatbot like a therapist is not wise.” Wright explains that it becomes risky when you keep talking with the chatbot for a long time to fill your emotional needs. A real therapist’s goal is to help their patient. Chatbots are different. “They’re purposely designed to keep people on the platform for as long as possible,” Wright says. “The way they do that is just telling people exactly what they want to hear,” That might feel good. But it’s not what a therapist would do. There is very little research right now on the long-term effects of using AI for mental health. What we do have a lot of research on is how much social connection and human contact are important for health. Relying on AI might stop the development of necessary connections with real people. 12. What is the function of the number in paragraph 1? A. To warn teenagers the unseen risks of AI tools. B. To present teenagers’ ways to handle bad emotions. C. To prove chatbots can solve teenagers’ mental trouble. D. To show more teenagers seek help from chatbots. 13. What is Vaile Wright’s attitude towards treating chatbots as therapists? A. Opposed. B. Amazed. C. Doubtless. D. Uninterested. 14. How do chatbots achieve their purpose? A. By answering users’ questions quickly. B. By recording users’ daily feelings. C. By offering practical suggestions. D. By saying what users hope to hear. 15. What does the author suggest about AI for mental health? A. It has long-term benefits. B. It needs more research. C. It can replace human. D. It gives useful advice. D 13. A 14. D 15. 根据第一段中的“When you’re feeling sad, angry or stressed, it might be easy to ask a chatbot (聊天机器人) for help. In fact, a new study of 12- to 21-year-olds showed that nearly 1 in 5 of them had turned to AI for mental (精神的) health support. That’s up from 1 in 8 just a few years ago.(当你感到悲伤、愤怒或者有压力时,向聊天机器人求助可能很容易。事实上,一项针对12至21岁人群的新研究表明,他们中近五分之一的人曾求助人工智能获取心理健康支持。这比几年前的八分之一有所上升)”可知,第一段数字是为了表明更多青少年向聊天机器人寻求帮助。 【13题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段中的““A chatbot could help you learn more about mental health problems,” says Vaile Wright, a psychologist in Chicago. “An AI might even be able to offer some basic advice if you’re struggling in the moment and don’t know where else to turn. But treating a chatbot like a therapist is not wise.”(芝加哥心理学家Vaile Wright说:“聊天机器人可以帮你更多了解心理健康问题。如果你此刻陷入困境、不知还有何处可求助,人工智能甚至能够提供一些基础建议。但是把聊天机器人当作治疗师是不明智的。”)”可知,Vaile Wright反对将聊天机器人当作心理治疗师。 【14题详解】 细节理解题。根据第四段中的““They’re purposely designed to keep people on the platform for as long as possible,” Wright says. “The way they do that is just telling people exactly what they want to hear,”(Wright说:“它们被刻意设计用来让人们尽可能长时间停留在平台上。它们做到这一点的方式就是说出人们恰恰想要听到的内容。”)”可知,聊天机器人通过说出用户希望听到的话来实现它们的目的。 【15题详解】 推理判断题。根据第五段中的“There is very little research right now on the long-term effects of using AI for mental health.(目前,关于使用人工智能处理心理健康问题的长期影响的研究非常少)”可知,作者暗示用于心理健康方面的人工智能还需要更多研究。 Ways to Pick a Perfect Travel Destination It is sometimes hard to decide where to travel because it’s easy to get stuck with so many options. ____16____ ●Think about your interests. She is a curious and brave little girl who loves discovering new things outdoors. However, she has a big problem: she does not like school. At school, Emily has difficulty sitting quietly in her seat and focusing on lessons. Long, quiet classes bore her. She often wants to share her ideas immediately, which sometimes troubles her classmates. When classes are boring to her, she dreams of outdoor adventures. Her parents and teachers have tried all ways they could to help her. They talked to her patiently or criticized (批评) her seriously, but nothing worked. As the new semester came near, Emily’s parents didn’t know what to do. They didn’t know how to deal with Emily’s difficulty following school rules. They worried that she might never learn to act well or learn to control herself. But then they had a great idea: they would take Emily camping for the first time. They hoped this outdoor trip would help improve her attitude and habits. Since it was Emily’s first time camping, she felt both excited and a little nervous. However, after arriving at the campsite and exploring the area, she loved it. She enjoyed learning about the plants and animals living in the forest and was very interested in the stars at night. She even learned how to build her own small shelter and cook food over the campfire. After several camping trips, Emily’s parents saw some changes in her. She could focus better and take part in activities more actively. She also became much politer than before. She listened carefully to her parents’ instructions and patiently finished every task they gave her. When Emily went back to school, these changes also showed themselves. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ To support her progress, teachers decided to combine outdoor exploration with school studies, _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 When Emily went back to school, these changes also showed themselves. She could sit still and listen carefully in class instead of daydreaming about adventures. Whenever she wanted to speak out suddenly, she would take a deep breath and wait for her turn patiently. Her teacher was amazed at her progress and praised her in front of the whole class. Emily felt proud and kept trying to behave better every day. She even volunteered to help her classmates with simple tasks in class. To support her progress, teachers decided to combine outdoor exploration with school studies. They organized field trips to observe local plants and watch wild birds. Emily became the most active learner, sharing what she had learned from camping. She gradually found that knowledge from textbooks was closely connected with nature. Emily fell in love with school and understood learning could be as fun as outdoor adventures. She looked forward to every new lesson with great eagerness. 发现:find/discover 情绪类 ①. 惊奇的:amazed/astonished ②. 积极的:active/positive 【点睛】[高分句型 1] Whenever she wanted to speak out suddenly, she would take a deep breath and wait for her turn patiently.(运用了whenever引导时间状语从句) [高分句型 2] She gradually found that knowledge from textbooks was closely connected with nature.(运用了that引导宾语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 高一英语 考生注意: 1. 1. B Great excitement spread around us when we sailed to Antarctica on a ship and stayed in its warm room. B. C Ten years ago, at the height of blogging, I had a lovely little corner of the Internet where I shared my life with photos — until I got a stalker (跟踪狂). Ways to Pick a Perfect Travel Destination It is sometimes hard to decide where to travel because it’s easy to get stuck with so many options. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ To support her progress, teachers decided to combine outdoor exploration with school studies, _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
