Amelia Earhart was always a brave child, full of courage. She was born in 1897 in Kansas, USA. When she was young, she liked climbing trees and hunting rats with her gun. Her parents supported and encouraged her to be herself, which was unusual for girls at that time.
After taking her first flight in a plane in 1920, she knew that she wanted to become a pilot more than anything else in the world. Later, she worked many different jobs to pay for her own flying lessons. In 1922, she flew higher than any woman had done before — to 14,000 feet.
Earhart is best known for being a flight pioneer as the first woman to fly on her own across the Atlantic Ocean in 1932. She was only 34 years old then. She became famous around the world overnight. Many people look up to Earhart and find her an inspiring person because of her efforts to work hard and her ability to make her dreams come true.
Sadly, in 1937, when she was trying to fly around the world, her plane disappeared over the Pacific Ocean near Howland Island. She was never found, and no one knows exactly what happened to her.
Even today, Amelia Earhart is still remembered as a symbol of courage and determination. Her story tells us that women can do anything men can do, and that we should never give up on our dreams.

I.M. Pei (Bei Yuming) was one of the world’s greatest architects. He was born in Suzhou, China in 1917. When he was 17, he moved to the US to study architecture at Harvard University. He spent over 60 years designing buildings all over the world.
Pei designed many famous buildings, including the John F. Kennedy Library in Boston and the Bank of China Tower in Hong Kong. When he was asked to design the glass pyramid at the Louvre Museum in Paris in 1984, many French people disagreed. They thought a glass pyramid would ruin the old palace. But Pei believed in his idea and worked hard to prove them wrong. Today, the glass pyramid has become a symbol of Paris and millions of visitors love it. The Suzhou Museum is also one of his amazing designs. He created a beautiful balance between the East and the West.
Wang Yaping is another inspiring person. She was born in Shandong in 1980. She is a Chinese astronaut and the first Chinese woman to walk in space. In 2013, she also became the first woman to teach a live science class from the Tiangong space station. About 60 million students watched her class on TV. She is full of courage and wisdom. Thousands of students were encouraged by her space class to become scientists or astronauts.
These two people come from very different fields — one designs buildings, the other travels in space. But they share the same spirit: hard work, courage, and the courage to try new things. They show us: it is never too late to dream big. It is inspiring to see how courage and hard work can change the world.
