①Partner reading is a popular learning method for students. It means two students read the same text together as partners. This simple way has become widely used in many middle schools, especially for improving students’ reading skills and building up their confidence.
②In partner reading, two learners work as a team. Usually, one reads aloud first, and the other listens carefully. Then they change roles. While listening, the listener should follow the text and give quick feedback. For example, he or she can point out mispronounced words or praise good sentences. They can also talk about the main idea after finishing paragraphs.
③ ▲ First, it lowers pressure. Some students feel nervous reading in front of the whole class, but they are more relaxed with just one partner. Second, it helps improve pronunciation. When listening to their partners, students can notice their own mistakes. Besides, discussion between partners makes it easier to understand difficult parts.
④However, partner reading also needs good rules. Students must stay on task instead of talking about other things. They should respect each other and take turns patiently. If one partner is much weaker, the other should offer help rather than get impatient.

Finally, stay positive and keep trying. Changes may bring difficulties and failures. ____32____ But we should never give up. A positive attitude can help us walk out of trouble easily. Every effort we make during the change will finally turn into our strength.

We can see mind maps in many kinds of learning materials. But do you know what it is and how to make it? A mind map is a visual (视觉的) tool that helps you divide difficult subjects into small, easier-to-understand parts. It works well for sharing information, learning hard subjects and many other things!
A mind map has a main idea in the center. You can separate it into smaller parts step by step. Other ideas grow out from the main one, just like branches of a tree. You can divide a subject into as many layers (层级) as you want.
How to Start Making a Mind Map?
Step 1: Make a chart and write your main idea in the center. The main idea tells people what your mind map is about. Just think of it as the title of your chart, so others can know your content (内容) at first sight.
Step 2: Keep dividing ideas into related smaller ones. Now you need to add key content to your mind map. First, add several branches connected to the main idea. For example, if your chart is about animals, you may begin with “animals with backbones” and “animals without backbones”. Then you can divide these new ideas into even smaller parts. Keep doing this until you think you have added enough details.
Step 3: Arrange (安排) your ideas and change words, colours and line styles. After you write down all your thoughts, you need to organize them. You can change colours, positions, line styles and word styles. This helps your chart show ideas and their connections clearly.
Step 4: Put in pictures, small signs and notes to make your ideas easy to follow. Sometimes you need pictures, signs or more words to explain your thoughts well. You can add pictures, signs and notes anywhere in your chart. They will help you understand and remember the subject better.
Ready to start your own mind map?
