I was being completely reasonable with Paige.” Yes, Erin was being reasonable as she replayed the recent chaotic episode featuring a 12-year-old Paige. The incident Erin was referring to was Paige’s recent 12th birthday party. What fired Paige’s anger? It was that her newly acquired birthday present, her new phone, came with some unexpected screen usage controls and time boundaries. Erin was shocked to see that her ordinary limit-setting had turned into a blow-up with Paige. Erin learned a lesson: sometimes being super reasonable at the wrong time can make already upset children even more emotionally inflamed (激动). That’s because when children become intensely upset, their nervous systems go on a big-time emotional surge before the thinking part of their brains can catch up. As I explain in my book, 24 Hours To A Less Reactive Child, many caring parents start to talk more when their child is emotionally struggling. So if you picture doors slamming, refusing to speak, or totally shutting down, those aren’t times to say certain things. Unless you want to pour fuel on the reactivity fire, don’t say things like “You know why I said no.” or “Can you please just listen?” These sound like sensible sentences, but the problem is that you’re appealing to your child’s reactive brain at a time when it can’t listen. In short, when your child is emotionally surging and you try to explain with logic, you add more pressure because they can’t truly process what you are saying. To help re-regulate your reactive child’s emotions, first help them name them. For example, saying “You sound really upset right now” is something they can hear. Next, think less is more: lower your volume, lower your intensity, and slow your speaking pace. Last, hold your boundary without overexplaining it. For example, instead of keeping explaining and fueling Paige’s anger, Erin should simply say “The phone stays downstairs tonight”. 24.Why did Paige get angry? A.Her mom was absent from her party. B.She was addicted to electronic devices. C.She didn’t receive any birthday present. D.Her mom set limits on her new phone use. 25.What does the author think of reasoning with an upset child? A.It can make things worse. B.It is a win-win solution. C.It requires more logic. D.It is temporarily effective. 26.Which belongs to seemingly sensible sentences mentioned in paragraph 5? A.You sound really upset right now. B.We’ve already discussed this. C.The phone stays downstairs tonight. D.You can use your phone at any time. 27.What does the last paragraph focus on? A.How parents can give clear explanations. B.How parents should calm themselves down. C.How to deal with an emotionally struggling child. D.How to persuade an annoyed kid to apologize. C In some of medicine’s toughest cases, the hardest part is not choosing the right diagnosis (诊断) — it is thinking of the diagnosis at all. Artificial intelligence (AI) may now be better at this than human doctors, according to a new study. Researchers led by Harvard biomedical scientist Arjun Manrai tested OpenAI’s o1-preview reasoning model on a variety of medical cases. These included classic symptom sets used in medical training as well as real-world data from 76 emergency room patients in Boston. The results, published in Science, showed that the AI model was more likely than physicians to list the correct diagnosis — or something very close to it — among its possible answers. In some cases, the AI identified a dangerous flesh-eating (食肉性) infection 12 to 24 hours before human doctors took notice. Not all researchers are convinced that this means we should trust AI with our diagnoses. The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) points out that in the real-world test, the AI only outperformed two internal medicine doctors. Emergency physicians receive special training and might have done better. Equally importantly, AI reasoning is still very different from human clinical reasoning. Arya Rao, a researcher at Harvard Medical School who was not involved in the study, points out that “clinical reasoning” does not mean the same thing as “model reasoning.” Her team tested 21 AI models and found that even the newest ones struggle when faced with several uncertain diagnoses. AI models based on large language models tend to jump to conclusions. “Their reasoning is unreliable precisely where uncertainty and nuance (细微差别) matter most,” Rao and her team wrote. Despite their different findings, both research teams agree on one thing: AI should assist doctors, not replace them. Manrai believes that human patients want human guidance when making difficult treatment decisions. Rao adds that many people lack access to medical care, and AI could someday become “a great equalizer.” Both groups call for more research and carefully designed clinical trials before AI is widely used in medical settings. For now, the message is clear — AI shows great promise, but it is not yet ready to decide on its own. 28.How does the author present the findings of Manrai’s study? A.By defining key medical terms clearly. B.By comparing AI with human doctors. C.By providing background information. D.By quoting famous experts in the field. 29.What is the ACEP’s attitude towards AI diagnosis? A.Favorable. B.Uninterested. C.Skeptical. D.Ambiguous. 30.What can we learn from Arya Rao’s research? A.AI’s reasoning has obvious weaknesses. B.All AI models rely on clinical experience. C.AI draws conclusions after careful thinking. D.New AI models handle uncertain cases effectively. 31.What can be inferred from the last paragraph? A.Medical AI still has a long way to go. B.AI will replace doctors in the near future. C.Clinical trials on AI have already finished. D.Ordinary people refuse to use AI in medicine. D Our solar system orbits the Milky Way galaxy’s center once about every 210 million years, traveling along at around 240 kilometers per second — an astonishing rate we don’t feel because the entire system moves at the same constant speed. But a new study suggests our solar system is a laggard in the universe compared with one system in our galaxy that was somehow accelerated to a speed of 541 kilometers a second, making it the swiftest planetary system ever found. “This speed was extremely high and kind of shocking,” says astrophysicist Terry. It introduces a series of questions about the survivability of these types of systems. This galactic speed “monster” appears to center on a red dwarf star (红矮星) which is smaller and less bright than our sun. It’s about 24,500 light years from Earth and some 1,500 light years away from our galaxy’s center. Astronomers discovered the star and a suspected accompanying planet after a 2011 “microlensing” event called MOA-2011-BLG-262, when the system passed in front of a background star and bent the latter’s light. Terry and his colleagues observed the system again in 2021. They found that its known planet is most likely a gas giant with about 29 times Earth’s mass that orbits its star at a distance between those at which Venus and Earth orbit our sun. The researchers also mapped the system’s position in the 2021 data relative to where it was about a decade prior, revealing how fast it traveled. It might be a hyper-speed star system, an example of a rare class of astronomical objects that have been sped up by past encounters with other stars’ gravity — or even by a gravitational slingshot (弹弓) from the supermassive black hole at the center of our galaxy. These objects travel faster than 500 kilometers a second, and the speediest known one travels at over 2,000 kilometers a second. “It’s an extraordinary category of stars,” Terry says, estimating that the system in this study more than doubled its speed after its own dramatic encounter. “No previous hyper-speed stars have been found with planets. This might open up a new study of the origin and evolution of planets around very high-speed stars,” he adds. 32.What does the underlined word “laggard” in the first paragraph refer to? A.Something moving slowly. B.Something becoming famous. C.Something traveling endlessly. D.Something looking incomparable. 33.What can we learn about the “monster” from paragraph 2? A.Its star is much brighter than our sun. B.Its planet’s mass is identical to Venus’s. C.It’s a system discovered through its own light. D.It’s closer to the galactic center than Earth. 34.What does Terry think of the discovery? A.It is accidental. B.It is common. C.It is pioneering. D.It is strange. 35.Which of the following is a suitable title for the text? A.The Milky Way Galaxy’s Center B.The Solar System’s Bright Stars C.The Fastest Astronomical Objects D.The Planetary System Speed Record Putting things off costs a lot. One study published in 2013 ranked 22,053 people on a procrastination (拖延) scale of one to five. Each increase of one point was associated with a drop of nearly $15,000 in annual earnings. A study of 3,525 Swedish university students published in 2023 also found that procrastinators more likely to suffer anxiety, stress and loneliness. 36 37 One set is known as mental contrasting with implementation intentions (MCII). Popularised in a number of smartphone apps, the idea is simple: picture the benefits of achieving a goal, contrast that image with the main obstacle; and picture a strategy to overcome it. In two randomised trials reported in 2020 undergraduates were given online MCII exercises designed to reduce the delaying of bedtime, which research has linked to procrastination in general. They missed their intended bedtimes by around 38 minutes less each night than those in a control group given advice about healthy sleeping habits. Exercise shows promise too. A Chinese trial published in March assessed procrastination in 77 male teenagers. They were randomly assigned to 12 weeks of strength training, high‑intensity interval training, or a combination of the two. 38 An earlier study of 564 Chinese university students found that the most physically active also procrastinated less. The researchers speculated that overcoming the stress gave them a "sense of mastery" that boosted confidence and motivation. These days, opportunities for procrastination are greater than before. Many people work from home, out of the boss’s sight. 39 In one review published in 2022, each of the 18 studies assessed linked excessive scrolling (滚屏) to procrastination. 40 Lack of sleep blocks executive function, leading to more failures of self‑regulation. It would be helpful if the scientists involved could stop procrastination. A.Mental exercises appear to help. B.Smartphones often delay bedtime, too. C.Smartphones offer endless distractions. D.Here are some ways to stop procrastinating. E.Then there is the question of diet and other habits. F.They showed "significant reductions" in putting things off. G.Procrastinators are more likely to delay medical treatment. I’ve grown used to the pause. Since a visitor shared their photographs on social media, the gourds 56   (transform) Chen’s quiet home into a place filled with laughter and friendly greetings. Each of the gourds, all of 57 had a different shape, seemed to possess a character of its own. At first, only a few local residents came to have a look, and most of them remained 58 (consider), viewing the gourds from a proper distance 59   (avoid) disturbing the elderly couple. Later, people travelled to the neighbourhood 60   search of the real-life “Calabash Brothers”, hoping to photograph them and meet their elderly owner. Many 61 (passer-by) stopped beneath the balcony and called out “Grandpa Calabash”, a name that gradually became familiar to Chen. The couple had lived quietly since losing their child. The visitors greeted the couple 62   (enthusiastic), and their cheerful voices gave the home warmth that had long been missing. Instead of keeping this unexpected happiness to 63   (he), Chen frequently stepped onto the balcony, answering questions and sharing the story behind the gourds. However, the noise from crowds disturbed daily life. Local residents therefore put up a small notice, 64   gentle reminder that visitors should lower their voices and keep a proper distance. Although the gourds could not remain on the vine forever, the comfort 65   (arise) from the unexpected connection between the elderly couple and complete strangers remained, showing that a small act of care can brighten a lonely heart. Reconnecting with Reality Good morning, everyone! Two years older than me, he was tall, athletic, and effortlessly charming. At family gatherings, everyone clustered (聚集) around him, laughing at his jokes and listening to his college stories. I, on the other hand, would sit in the corner, quietly observing, my own stories feeling too small to share. When I was sixteen, my parents sent me to stay with Daniel’s family for the summer. I was both excited and nervous. Maybe some of his confidence would finally rub off on me. Daniel was kind enough — he took me to his favorite spots around town, introduced me to his friends, and taught me to play basketball. But every time I tried to join a conversation, my words came out awkward and clumsy. I felt like a shadow trailing behind a sun. One afternoon, Daniel threw a small party at his house. The backyard was crowded. I found a quiet spot under a tree and pulled out the small notebook I always carried. I wrote down what I saw — a girl nervously fixing her hair before talking to a boy, Daniel’s loud laugh echoing across the lawn and sunlight filtering through the leaves and dancing on the grass. It was just something I did. I never thought much of it. Later that evening when most guests had left, Aunt Sarah sat down beside me. She noticed my notebook and asked if she could see it. I hesitated, then handed it over. She read quietly for a few minutes. When she looked up, her eyes were soft and thoughtful. “Lily,” she said gently, “the way you see the world is remarkable. You notice things that everyone else misses. That’s not a small thing. That’s a gift.” I blinked, not sure how to respond. A gift? I had always thought of my quietness as a weakness. “Daniel is wonderful,” she continued, “but there are many people like him, who shine brightly on the outside. But someone who can truly see others — who can capture their stories in words — that’s rare. Don’t ever try to be someone else, Lily. The world already has a Daniel. It needs a YOU.” Aunt Sarah’s words kept echoing in my mind long after that party. ___________________ _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ At the end of the summer, I showed Daniel what I had been working on. _______________ _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 六安一中2027届高三年级第三次月考 英语试卷参考答案 1.A 【原文】W: Excuse me, can we change the route? When a destination gets so many tourists, overcrowding and pollution can be real problems. W: That sounds pretty serious. Can you give me an example of a place that’s struggling with this? M: Definitely. Barcelona is a great example. The flood of tourists has caused issues like rising living costs for locals. W: Are there any efforts to address the problems? M: Yes, there are. For example, Venice is trying to control tourist numbers by setting visitor limits. Some other places such as Amsterdam and Bali are encouraging tourists to other nearby spots. W: They’re good approaches. How can travelers make a positive difference? M: Travelers can play a big role! By avoiding popular destinations, we can help ease the pressure on those spots. W: That makes sense. And another simple but powerful way is to travel during off-peak seasons. 17.C 18.A 19.B 20.B 【原文】 M: Here is the latest news. A violin sold for $11.25 million in Boston on Friday, yet it fell short of a record. The price started at $8 million. Offers quickly rose to $10 million. The violin was built by Antonio Stradivari in 1714 in Cremona, Italy. It was most notable for having been played for decades by Joseph Joachim, one of the most famous Hungarian violinists of the 19th century. It was acquired by violinist Si-Hon Ma in 1967, whose estate manager donated it to the New England Conservatory after his death. The Conservatory, which has had the violin for the last decade, said the sale profits will go toward a scholarship program. “The sale is meant for future students, and we will use the income to establish the largest named scholarship at the New England Conservatory,” the Conservatory’s president said. The record for the biggest sum paid for a musical instrument at auction remains with the “Lady Blunt” Stradivarius, made in 1721, which got about $15.9 million in 2011. 21.B 22.C 23.B 21. 根据第三段 “It is a camp for students curious about philosophical questions. 根据文章第三段中的“sometimes being super reasonable at the wrong time can make already upset children even more emotionally inflamed (有时在不恰当的时候过于讲道理会让已经心烦意乱的孩子情绪更加激动)”以及第五段中的“when your child is emotionally surging and you try to explain with logic, you add more pressure because they can’t truly process what you are saying (当孩子情绪爆发时,你试图用逻辑解释,反而会增加压力,因为他们无法真正处理你说的话)”可知,作者认为在孩子情绪激动时讲道理会使情况变得更糟。 26. 根据文章第四段末尾提到的例子“don’t say things like ‘You know why I said no.’ or ‘Can you please just listen?’ B“We’ve already discussed this. 根据文章最后一段“To help re-regulate your reactive child’s emotions, first help them name them. 以及“Next, think less is more: lower your volume, lower your intensity, and slow your speaking pace. Last, hold your boundary without overexplaining it. C选项“How to deal with an emotionally struggling child. 根据文章第二段中的“The results, published in Science, showed that the AI model was more likely than physicians to list the correct diagnosis — or something very close to it — among its possible answers. In some cases, the AI identified a dangerous flesh-eating infection 12 to 24 hours before human doctors took notice.( 发表在《科学》上的研究结果表明,该人工智能模型比医生更有可能在可能的答案中列出正确的诊断,或非常接近的诊断。 根据第三段中的“Not all researchers are convinced that this means we should trust AI with our diagnoses.( 并非所有研究人员都确信这意味着我们应该信任AI进行诊断。)”以及“Equally importantly, AI reasoning is still very different from human clinical reasoning.(AI的推理与人类的临床推理仍有很大不同。)” 根据文章第四段中的“Her team tested 21 AI models and found that even the newest ones struggle when faced with several uncertain diagnoses. AI models based on large language models tend to jump to conclusions. ‘Their reasoning is unreliable precisely where uncertainty and nuance matter most,’ Rao and her team wrote.(她的团队测试了21个AI模型,发现即使是最新的模型在面对多个不确定的诊断时也会遇到困难。 根据文章最后一段中的“Both groups call for more research and carefully designed clinical trials before AI is widely used in medical settings. For now, the message is clear — AI shows great promise, but it is not yet ready to decide on its own.(两个研究团队都呼吁,在AI被广泛应用于医疗环境之前,需要进行更多的研究和精心设计的临床试验。 32.A 33.D 34.C 35.D 32. 根据第一段 “Our solar system orbits the Milky Way galaxy’s center once about every 210 million years, traveling along at around 240 kilometers per second — an astonishing rate we don’t feel because the entire system moves at the same constant speed. But a new study suggests our solar system is a laggard in the universe compared with one system in our galaxy that was somehow accelerated to a speed of 541 kilometers a second, making it the swiftest planetary system ever found. 故选A。 33. 根据第二段 “It’s about 24,500 light years from Earth and some 1,500 light years away from our galaxy’s center. 根据最后一段 ““No previous hyper‑speed stars have been found with planets. This might open up a new study of the origin and evolution of planets around very high‑speed stars,” he adds.(“此前从未发现过带有行星的超高速恒星。这可能会开启对超高速恒星周围行星起源与演化的新研究。” 他补充道。)” 可知,Terry 认为该发现是首次发现带有行星的超高速恒星系统,能开辟新的研究方向,属于开创性的发现。故选C。 35.解析:主旨大意题。根据第一段 “But a new study suggests our solar system is a laggard in the universe compared with one system in our galaxy that was somehow accelerated to a speed of 541 kilometers a second, making it the swiftest planetary system ever found. 36.D 37.A 38.F 39.C 40.B I’m Li Hua. It is my honor to share my opinion on the phenomenon that with the popularity of AI assistants, we students sometimes are relying too much on virtual partners. During the holiday, many of us bury ourselves in conversations with AI assistants rather than speak to people around us in person. As a result, we seem to get accustomed to virtual assistants for instant response and lose patience for face-to-face talks. Consequently, we are becoming more distant from real life. In my view, however appealing they seem, we shouldn’t overlook real-world communication. I suggest we start by setting aside one “device-free hour” each day to talk with those around us. Besides,we can do something small with our family or friends like cooking a meal, or playing a board game, which can make life truly colorful and complete. AI is a useful tool, but human connection is the real magic. It is high time to embrace the authentic connection with the real world. Thank you! 1. it is one’s honor to do 很荣幸做某事 2. rely too much on 过度依赖 3. get accustomed to 习惯于 4. It is high time to do Aunt Sarah’s words kept echoing in my mind long after that party. For the first time, I didn’t feel the need to shrink into the background. I kept holding my notebook, and started writing more intentionally, including little details of people and moments around me that no one else seemed to catch. Slowly, I stopped seeing my love of writing and observing as something to hide. Instead, it felt like a secret that slowly helped me find my own voice. At the end of the summer, I showed Daniel what I had been working on. It was a collection of all my summer notes, with a page specially written for him, describing not just his charming public laugh, but the hidden gentle side only I had noticed. Daniel read it slowly, his eyes wide with surprise. “I never knew I looked like that in others’ eyes,” he said softly, grinning. That summer I didn’t “catch” Daniel’s confidence, but I found my own unique shine: my quiet eye for the world was the very thing that made me special. 词汇激活: 行为类 ①描述:describe/narrate ②注意到:notice/spot/observe 情绪类 ①惊讶:surprise/amazement ②温柔的:gentle/tender 【点睛】【高分句型1】I kept holding my notebook, and started writing more intentionally, including little details of people and moments around me that no one else seemed to catch.(使用了that引导的定语从句) 【高分句型2】It was a collection of all my summer notes, with a page specially written for him, describing not just his charming public laugh, but the hidden gentle side only I had noticed.
