Last year, my family celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival in a different way.
Usually, we stay at home. We eat mooncakes and watch the moon from our balcony. But last year, my father said, "Let's go to the countryside and see my parents."
We drove for three hours. When we arrived, my grandparents were very happy. My grandmother made a big dinner. After dinner, we sat in the yard. The moon was very bright.
"When I was a child, there was no electricity here," my grandfather said. "On Mid-Autumn night, the whole village sat outside and looked at the moon. Children played games, and old people told stories."
My sister asked, "Did you eat mooncakes?"
"Of course," my grandfather laughed. "But our mooncakes were not as sweet as yours. We had very little sugar."
That night, I learned something. The moon is the same moon that my grandfather saw when he was a boy. And the family is the same family, year after year.
