第二节 读后续写 (满分 25 分) 。
67. That evening, Grandma helped me wrap the coat in Christmas paper. She wrote "To Bobby, From Santa Claus" on it, after which she drove me over to Bobby Decker's house, explaining I was officially one of Santa's helpers. Grandma parked down the street form Bobby's house, and I took a deep breath, and dashed for his front door. Seeing no other people notice us, I put the Christmas present down, pounded his doorbell and then Grandma and I hid in the car.
Grandma and I waited breathlessly for Bobby Decker's front door to open and finally it opened. Out went Bobby Decker. Seeing the coat in the bag, he looked very astonished and then called his mother to go out. After hearing them say "Thanks" to Santa Claus, I felt very proud of what I had done. At that time I decided to be Santa's helper for ever. It was on that night that I realized the truth that he who has no Christmas in his heart will never find Christmas under a tree.

What's best to read this year?
Secrets I Know (Random House Children's Books, ages 3—7)
This tale written by Kallie George and pictured by Paola Zakimi follows a young girl and her little friend as they move from rain to sunshine, from pleasant loneliness to sweet friendship, and finally from adventures on earth to an exploration of the sky above. The colors of Zakimi's pencil drawings are calming and George's poetic text tells her story with simple language.
Pandora (Clarion Books, ages 3—7)
The award-winning author Victoria Turnbull tells the story of a little fox Pandora. Pandora lives alone. She makes herself a handsome home, but no one ever comes to visit. Then one day something falls from the sky—a bird with a broken wing. Little by little, the bird helps Pandora feel less lonely. Turnbull's watercolor and colored pencil drawings make this story of friendship and growth an atmospheric delight.
Prince and Pirate (G. P. Putnam's Sons Books for Younger Readers, ages 5—8)
A different kind of friendship is described in this book, by Charlotte Gunnufson with pictures by Mike Lowery. Prince and Pirate are a pair of mismatched fish put into the same aquarium. At first it seems that they'll never learn to be friends. It's only when both take pity on a frightened dogfish that they learn the benefits of cooperation, and soon all three fish become good friends.
The Giant Jumperee (Dinal Books, ages 3—5)
The story was written by the award-winning British author Julia Donaldson. When Rabbit hears a loud threatening voice coming from inside a cave, he gathers Cat, Bear and Elephant to help him decide what to do. But it's Mama Frog who fearlessly confronts the unknown creature. Helen Oxenbury's soft watercolors create a beautiful countryside and her characterizations of the animals are impressive.

Isabella Ducrot, an Italian artist born in 1931, is becoming internationally famous for her art only recently, even though she didnˈt start creating it until she was in her fifties.
Ducrot creates her art by standing and sweeping loose strokes of ink or paint onto paper or fabric(布料), sometimes using a brush attached to a stick. She often adds pieces of other papers or fabrics to create pictures. Her works, typically made in series, feature joyful figures, simple landscapes, and repeating patterns like ovals(椭圆) and squares. Full of life, color, and a sense of freedom, her art feels so fresh and energetic that a museum in France has called her, in a surprising way, "a young artist with a young career".
Ducrotˈs art is deeply rooted in her life experiences. For years, she and her late husband ran a luxury travel business, journeying from India to Afghanistan and gathering a unique collection of rare textiles(纺织品). These experiences and materials now provide both the physical and conceptual foundation for her work. She brings importance to humble cloths—the kind "used to protect, wrap, wash and care for the body"—by incorporating(纳入) them into her art, making us reconsider the boundaries between fine art and the art of everyday life.
Her late success strongly goes against common ideas about older people, especially older women. As one expert points out, we often give older women "the unclear, and often fading, quality of wisdom", meaning their creative and personal growth has stopped. Ducrotˈs clearly emotional work shows this is not true. "I think life, for women, begins at sixty," she says. "Because then we begin to be free."
In her Roman palazzo, Isabella Ducrot continues her daily work, watching as the figures in her "Tenderness" series slowly emerge from the cloth. Just like her art, her own life is a masterpiece that is still unfolding. With each brushstroke she paints and piece of fabric she adds, she shows us a simple truth: even in lifeˈs later years, creativity can not only survive but blossom with unexpected freedom and power.
24.What can we know about Ducrotˈs art?
A. It shows complex historical scenes.
B. It creates a sense of calm and peacefulness.
C. It is created using digital tools and software.
D. It features repetitive patterns and mixed materials.
25.What can be inferred from paragraph 3?
A. She keeps art separate from daily life.
B. Her art is mainly based on imagination.
C. Her travels provided artistic inspiration.
D. She believes everyday fabrics are unworthy.
26.Which of the following can best describe Ducrot?
A. Creative and free. B. Energetic and generous.
C. Traditional and reserved. D. Determined and imaginative.
27.What message does Ducrotˈs story convey?
A. Actions speak louder than words.
B. Where thereˈs a will, there is a way.
C. Itˈs never too late to start a new chapter in life.
D. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

When students and parents are asked to rate subjects according to their importance, the arts are unavoidably at the bottom of the list. Music is nice, people seem to say, but not important. Too often it is viewed as mere entertainment, but certainly not an education priority (优先). This view is shortsighted. In fact, music education is beneficial and important for all students.
Music tells us who we are. Because music is an expression of the beings who create it, it reflects their thinking and values, as well as the social environment it came from. Rock music represents a lifestyle just as surely as a Schubert song. The jazz influence that George Gershwin and other musicians introduced into their music is obviously American because it came from American musical traditions. Music expresses our character and values. It gives us identity as a society.
Music provides a kind of perception(感知) that cannot be acquired any other way. Science can explain how the sun rises and sets. The arts explore the emotional meaning of the same phenomenon. We need every possible way to discover and respond to our world for one simple but powerful reason: No one way can get it all. The arts are forms of thought as powerful in what they communicate as mathematical and scientific symbols. They are ways we human beings "talk" to each other. They are the language of civilization through which we express our fears, our curiosities, our hungers, our discoveries, and our hopes. The arts are ways we give form to our ideas and imagination so that they can be shared with others. When we do not give children access to an important way of expressing themselves such as music, we take away from them the meanings that music expresses.
Science and technology do not tell us what it means to be human. The arts do. Music is an important way we express human suffering, celebration, the meaning and value of peace and love.
So music education is far more necessary than people seem to realize.
28.According to Paragraph 1, students ______.
A. regard music as a way of entertainment
B. disagree with their parents on education
C. view music as an overlooked subject
D. prefer the arts to science
29.In Paragraph 2, the author uses jazz as an example to ______.
A. compare it with rock music
B. show music reflects a society
C. introduce American musical traditions
D. prove music influences people's lifestyles
30.According to the passage, the arts and science ______.
A. approach the world from different angles
B. explore different phenomena of the world
C. express people's feelings in different ways
D. explain what it means to be human differently
31.What is the main idea of the passage?
A. Music education deserves more attention.
B. Music should be of top education priority.
C. Music is an effective communication tool.
D. Music education makes students more imaginative.

The simple act of looking at a piece of visual art can improve your well-being, a new research study has found, and this benefit can be gained in a hospital setting as well as an art gallery.
Previous research has suggested that viewing art might influence mood or stress, but the research was limited and the findings were different, the authors say. This study examined decades of scattered(零散的)research, providing for the first time a clear and all-sided overview of when, where and why art viewing is used to promote well-being.
The review of 38 previously published studies covering a total of 6,805 participants was conducted by a team of psychologists from University of Vienna, Trinity College Dublin, and Humboldt University of Berlin. The study found that viewing art can improve well-being, which is associated with meaning in life and personal growth.
These benefits were noticed in a variety of locations—in museums and galleries as well as clinics and hospital settings and also through the medium of virtual reality. A wide range of art types including abstract, modern paintings, photography and sculpture were found to promote well-being.
“People often think of art as a luxury(奢侈品), but our research suggest that viewing art—whether as a hobby or as a targeted health intervention—can meaningfully support well-being. This research opens up exciting possibilities for integrating art into everyday environments and public health strategies,” said MacKenzie Trupp, lead author and researcher at the University of Vienna and Radboud UMC, Donders Institute.
Claire Howlin, Assistant Professor, School of Psychology, Trinity College Dublin, added: “While the mental health benefits of creating art have been widely explored, the impact of viewing art has been under-researched and undervalued. Yet visual art is present and accessible in everyday spaces—museums, galleries, hospitals, and at home. Understanding its effects can unlock new avenues for promoting well-being through everyday encounters with art.”
32.What characterizes the new study compared with the previous research? ()
A. Thorough. B. Original. C. One-sided. D. Limited.
33.How did the researchers draw the new conclusion? ()
A. By reviewing previous research.
B. By performing scores of experiments.
C. By interviewing thousands of participants.
D. By keeping track of experimental subjects.
34.What is the significance of the study? ()
A. It puts forward the theory behind art viewing.
B. It proves art viewing as a simple way of communicating.
C. It lays the foundation of creative approaches to curing patients.
D. It points out the possibility of applying art to routine health care.
35.What can be inferred from Claire Howlinˈs words? ()
A. The effect of viewing art has fully been explored.
B. Daily encounter with art is the key to improving health.
C. Promoting peopleˈs appreciation of art is a crucial task.
D. Visual art should be fully taken advantage of in daily lives.

Christmas Day was coming. I was just a kid then, and my big sister told me there was no Santa Claus. I fled to my Grandma because she would be straight with me. I knew Grandma always told me the truth. Grandma was home, and I told her everything. She was ready for me. "No Santa Claus!" She shouted. "Ridiculous! Don't believe it." That rumor has been going around for years, and it makes me mad, plain mad.
"Now, put on your coat, and let's go."
"Go where, Grandma?" I asked. "Where" turned out to be Kerby's General Store, the one store in town that had a little bit of just about everything. As we walked through its doors, Grandma handed me ten dollars. "Take this money." she said, "and buy something for someone who needs it. I'll wait for you in the car." Then she turned and walked out of Kerby's.
I was only eight years old. I'd often gone shopping with my mother, but never had I shopped for anything all by myself. The store seemed big and crowded, full of people competing to finish their Christmas shopping. For a few moments I just stood there, confused, holding that ten﹣dollar bill, wondering what to buy and who to buy it for. I suddenly thought of Bobby Decker, who was a kid with bad breath and messy hair. He sat right behind me in Mrs Pollock's grade﹣two class.
Bobby Decker didn't have a coat. I knew that because he never went out for recess during the winter. His mother always wrote a note, telling the teacher that he had a cough, but we kids knew that Bobby Decker didn't have a cough, and he didn't have a coat. I would buy Bobby Decker a coat! I settled on a red one, which looked really warm, and he would like that.
"Is this a Christmas present for someone?" the lady behind the counter asked kindly, as I laid my ten dollars down. "Yes."
The nice lady smiled at me, put the coat in a bag and wished me a Merry Christmas.
Paragraph 1:
That evening, Grandma helped me wrap the coat in Christmas paper.

Paragraph 2:
Grandma and I waited breathlessly for Bobby Decker's front door to open and finally it opened.
