Jack, a 14-year-old from Salt Lake City, was born with Down's syndrome(唐氏综合征), which brought him physical and cognitive challenges. However, with the proper support and resources, many people with Down's syndrome are able to live fulfilling lives, participate in their communities, and achieve personal goals.
Since Jack is a little smaller and slower than many of his peers, his parents, Devon and Kimberly, often worry that other kids might leave him out, fearing he could get hurt. But they do hope there are certain activities to keep Jack engaged. Devon suggested playing kickball, a sport he enjoyed growing up with his friends. The couple invited kids from the neighborhood and divided them into two teams. And Jack's only job was to kick the ball. This way, while the other kids were running, they didn't have to worry about accidentally knocking Jack over, but he could still be involved in every play and every kick.
Thus the kickball team, named the Inclusion FC, was established by the couple and a group of kids in the community to involve more kids like Jack and make them all feel included. They played and trained like professional players, often claiming that the Inclusion FC helped develop their talents and achieve their athletic dreams.
After one game, Kimberly posted a video about the experience online, which has gone viral with more than 1.5 million views and almost 3,000 comments. She titled the video “Best Dad Ever! Inclusion Matters!”. “The cool thing for us is that Jack now has relationships with all the kids in the neighborhood,” Devon continues. “With the Inclusion FC taking off, I thought, this is so amazing because it has got to be that glimpse of hope for those with Down's syndrome, and every kid is a special gift.”
As for Jack's future, the parents hope that he continues to grow up in a world where he's accepted and included. “There are so many possibilities out there,” Kimberly says.

In 1996, the National Art Museum of China received a donation of 117 works including paintings, sculptures and installations made after 1970 by European and US artists. Featured artists include important figures of modern and contemporary art, such as Andy Warhol, Pablo Picasso, Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, Gerhard Richter, and David Hockney.
The donation was made by German collectors Irene and Peter Ludwig. The couple traveled in many Chinese cities in the 1980s and 1990s, witnessing what was happening following the country's reform and opening-up. Peter Ludwig, an industrialist who held a PhD in art history, initialed a donation agreement with the museum in May 1996 but died two months later. His widow Irene Ludwig attended the donation ceremony and exhibition.
Yang Lizhou, the then vice director of the museum, recalled that when Peter Ludwig visited China to discuss the donation, he was not very determined but said “YES” after Yang told him that one quarter of the world's population would support and remember him for his generosity.
The Ludwigs' collection has toured many cities over the past two decades, broadening people's vision of fine arts. Many Chinese artists and art researchers had their first look at a real Picasso and also got to know about the scope and depth of contemporary art. And now the museum exhibits 50 works from the collection to again mark the importance of the couple's contribution to Chinese art circles and art education.
The portrait of Peter Ludwig shows a highly recognizable style of pop art figure Andy Warhol. Warhol portrayed many celebrities of various fields, including art, literature, the movies, music and politics, in the 1970s, such as Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley. Sketchy lines and a combination of bright colors highlight the subject's distinctive personality, and bring the figure closer to the audience.
The Ludwigs donated another three Picasso paintings, among which Man and Woman by a Flower Vase was completed three years before Picasso died. The painting expresses the fascination of love and the burden it brings by merging the images of a woman and a man, where they seem physically independent while bound by scarfs reluctantly, which makes the man look dejected. This painting is distinct from other masterpieces of Picasso.
28.What made Peter finally decide to donate his collection?
A.Yang's encouragement.
B.His passion for fine arts.
C.China's reform and opening-up.
D.His wealth and a PhD in art history.
29.What is the influence of the couple's donation?
A.Making the museum more splendid.
B.Laying a solid foundation for Chinese art circles.
C.Deepening people's understanding of traditional art.
D.Broadening Chinese people's horizons of elegant art.
30.What does the underlined word “dejected” in paragraph 6 mean?
A.Depressed. B.Delighted.
C.Dedicated. D.Deserted.
31.What is a suitable title for the text?
A.The important figures of modern art
B.A German couple's shining achievements
C.A generous “gift package” from a German couple
D.The significance of a German couple's donation

For many, denim(牛仔布) is a type of cloth; but for London-based artist Ian Berry, it's a creative medium. For the last two decades, Berry has used the navy blue cloth to create various portraits, and even photorealistic descriptions of California. And his latest creation continues to reveal the unexpected and innovative ways denim can be used. Titled Secret Garden and recently on display at the Garden Museum in London, this work reimagines a peaceful setting with a fish pond, flowers, and plants—all made from recycled denim jeans.
The Secret Garden show was first exhibited at the Children's Museum of the Arts in New York in 2017 and has since been displayed in various site-specific locations and galleries worldwide. Originally designing it for a young audience, Berry aimed to inspire children to reflect on our interaction with nature.
“The idea came from thinking many kids don't have their own gardens and thinking of community gardens located between buildings and trying to inspire kids to seek the community gardens out,” Berry says. “It also gave the opportunity to talk about sustainability as well as helping young minds think about where things come from.” The artist even showed the kids a cotton plant to explain where jeans come from. “It was amazing to see so many confused at the idea,” he recalls. “It enabled educators to talk about how in the show plants were turned into pants, and then back to plants again.”
While the most recent Secret Garden show isn't specifically designed for children, it still arouses a childlike sense of wonder. Visitors can walk through the denim garden path and find plants hanging above them. Various plants and flowers are depicted in shades of indigo (靛蓝色). There's even a peaceful pond at the heart of the garden, featuring denim koi fish, and a central water feature. Every area of the garden showcases such an impressive level of detail that it's easy to forget that the entire show is handmade from denim.
32.What did Ian Berry use denim for?
A.A kind of cloth for clothing.
B.Covers for various portraits.
C.Bags for flowers and plants.
D.Materials for his works of art.
33.What's the aim of the Secret Garden show?
A.To raise children's awareness of nature.
B.To get children in New York interested in art.
C.To tell the great use of denim in daily life.
D.To explain how to recycle denim jeans.
34.What does paragraph 3 mainly talk about?
A.Children's lack of nature knowledge.
B.Motivation of Berry's artistic creation.
C.People's confusion about Berry's art.
D.Different periods of processing plants.
35.What is the characteristic of the show described in the last paragraph?

A 30-year observational study at the University of South Carolina found that swimmers had about half the risk of death from any cause compared to participants who were runners or walkers. Notably, the advantage applies broadly, as you don't have to do butterfly or freestyle to get the benefit. 36 Here are the many advantages of water fitness.
Water's buoyancy(浮力) minimizes the effects of gravity, meaning it's gentle on joints. This makes exercising in water an excellent choice for people with pain in joints. 37 Moreover, exercising in water can minimize the stress on ankles, potentially lowering the injury rate.
38 One Australian study compared water sports with several other kinds of exercise, including jogging and cycling, and found that only water sports helped people prevent falls.
While you don't feel as hot and sweaty in water as you do when you work out on land, working out in water still raises your metabolic(新陈代谢的) rate, burns calories and helps with weight loss. Besides, activities in water engage most of the body's major muscle groups including those in the legs, upper body and core. 39
Bathing yourself in water just feels good, sometimes bringing up happy summer memories from childhood. Like all aerobic exercises, swimming, pool walking and other kinds of water aerobics release the feel-good hormones(荷尔蒙) called endorphins in your brain. 40
In conclusion, working out in water, fully or partially, has multiple benefits for the mind and the body and can be done by almost anyone of any age at any fitness level!
A.Water-based activities helps improve balance.
B.It is also an ideal option for those wanting to prevent it.
C.They perfectly combine stretching and strength training.
D.Swimming has the same effects as other forms of exercise.
E.The extra boost of these chemicals helps fight anxiety, depression and stress.
F.Pool walking and water workouts with weights are also great ways to get in shape.
G.Water-related exercises get your heart pumping without much stress on the body.

I grew up in a poor family with six brothers, three sisters, my father and my mother. We had little money and few goods, but plenty of love and attentions. I was happy and energetic. I understood that no matter how poor a person was, he could still afford a dream.
My dream was athletics. By the time I was sixteen, I could throw a ninety-mile-per-hour fastball and hit anything moving on the football field. And I was so lucky that my high-school coach was Ollie Jarvis, who not only believed in me, but often told me “The dream is priceless.” However, when I was about to get off the ground, one particular incident happened, which almost ruined my long-held dream.
It was the summer holiday in Senior Two and a friend recommended me for a summer job. I was offered $12.25 per hour. Compared with the average $3.5, that was a big sum. I was so excited, because this meant a chance for money in my pocket, certainly, money for a new bike and new clothes, and the start of savings for a house for my mother. The prospect(前景) of the job was inviting, and I wanted to jump at the opportunity.
Then I realized I would have to give up summer baseball training to handle the work schedule. I didn't dare to tell my coach. I thought of the advice my mother often gave me when I lacked courage, “If you make your bed, you have to lie in it.” I decided to talk to my coach in person. After all, my dream of buying my mom a house and having money in my pocket was worth facing his disappointment with me.
I gathered my courage and knocked at his door.
That question reminded me of what my coach used to say.

A
根据COURSE DESCRIPTION部分第二段中的“each student's works of art created throughout the school year will be displayed and available for sale at our MHS Annual Exhibit and Silent Auction held at the end of the school year”可知,学生的作品最终可能会被拍卖,故选C。
根据MAKE-UP WORK POLICY部分中的“The deadline for artworks remains the same even if the student misses time from school.”
根据全文内容,尤其是“NAME OF THE COURSE(课程名称)”“INSTRUCTOR(导师)”“COURSE DESCRIPTION(课程描述)”“MAKE-UP WORK POLICY(补课政策)”“GRADING POLICIES(评分政策)”以及“CONTACT INFORMATION(联系信息)”可知,本文主要介绍了视觉艺术课程的具体信息,故是出自一个课程计划,故选C。
B
根据第一段中的“However, with the proper support and resources, many people with Down's syndrome are able to live fulfilling lives, participate in their communities, and achieve personal goals.”
根据第三段中的“Thus the kickball team...was established by the couple and a group of kids in the community to involve more kids like Jack and make them all feel included.”
根据第四段中Devon所说的“every kid is a special gift”及最后一段中的“There are so many possibilities out there”可知,父母认为每个孩子都是一份独特的礼物,未来有很多可能性。
根据第三段“Yang Lizhou...but said ‘YES’ after Yang told him that one quarter of the world's population would support and remember him for his generosity.” 故选A。
根据第四段中的“The Ludwigs' collection has toured many cities over the past two decades, broadening people's vision of fine arts.”
根据画线词前文“The painting expresses the fascination of love and the burden it brings by merging the images of a woman and a man, where they seem physically independent while bound by scarfs reluctantly”可知,他们似乎身体上独立,但又不情愿地被围巾束缚,这使男人看起来很沮丧。 故选A。
根据第一段“...but for London-based artist Ian Berry, it's a creative medium. For the last two decades, Berry has used the navy blue cloth to create various portraits...all made from recycled denim jeans.”
根据第二段中的“Originally designing it for a young audience, Berry aimed to inspire children to reflect on our interaction with nature.” 故选A。
根据第三段中的“‘The idea came from thinking many kids don't have their own gardens and...out,’ Berry says. ‘It also gave the opportunity...come from.’”
根据最后一段中的“it still arouses a childlike sense of wonder”“Various plants and flowers are depicted in shades of indigo.”“Every area of the garden showcases such an impressive level of detail that it's easy to forget that the entire show is handmade from denim.”

One possible version:
Good morning, everyone!
Today, I want to share my most unforgettable sports experience. It was a summer afternoon when I first attempted to run a marathon. The sun was scorching, and I felt exhausted after just a few kilometers. However, driven by the cheers from the crowd and my own determination, I pushed myself to keep going. Finally, I crossed the finish line, breathless but triumphant.
This experience taught me the value of perseverance and self-belief. It showed me that with hard work and determination, I can achieve goals that once seemed impossible.
Thank you!
第二节
One possible version:
I gathered my courage and knocked at his door. As expected, his face turned purple immediately. He glared at me like a bull. “You have your whole life to work,” he said, “but your playing days are limited. You can't afford to waste them.” I stood before him with my head down. “How much will you be paid?” he asked. “$12.25 per hour.” “Well,” he shrugged. “Is $12.25 an hour the price of a dream?”
That question reminded me of what my coach used to say. Yes, the dream is priceless. It's stupid to earn pocket money at the expense of my dream. I held my head high and said firmly, “Sorry, Mr. Jarvis. I know what to do next.” My coach smiled with great satisfaction. That summer I dedicated myself to baseball training. And one year later, I obtained a baseball scholarship to the university. I knew I would soon buy my mom a house. Thankfully, I made a right choice. Without Mr. Jarvis, I would never know I could afford a dream.

Most of the people here are farmers, and the only source of earning money is selling what they grow to markets. The markets want to make a profit when the farmers sell. So the people of the city do not get very good deals. The main crop, they said, is tea, although some rice and corn are grown here too. Nowadays, the Young generation living in the rural parts of the city is moving to bigger cities. Their parents and grandparents think this is because the kids don't like village life. However, the fact is that there are not many jobs here. Although the soil is good to grow what they need, Young people don't want to be farmers. Like previous generations, all the people here entertain themselves with watching their favourite sport or meeting in small markets. A festival is held here every ten years and is attended by thousands of people. The last time I was held was in twenty seventeen, and the locals say everyone is looking forward to the next one. Some even even say IT should be held every five years instead of ten. The city of guilin is not far from the capital of the country.
