A
I jumped out from my hiding place and ran over to the group of riders. They were police officers who knew that there was a pirate ship in the bay. I told them my story.
Later I went back to the inn with one of the officers. Everything was broken, and the captain’s money and some silver from the inn were missing.
“They took the money,” said the officer. “But what did they really want?”
“I think they wanted these papers in my pocket,” I answered. “I want to take them to Dr. Livesey.”
“Good idea,” he answered. “Dr. Livesey is a judge. I will take you to him now, because I need to tell him what happened.”
So I mounted the horse behind one of the officers and we rode to Dr. Livesey’s house.
Dr. Livesey was not at home. He was dining with Squire Trelawney, so we rode on to the hall, where the squire lived. The two men were sitting in a great library next to a bright fire.
The officer told the story. The two men listened with surprise and interest. The officer then left. I gave the papers to the doctor and they asked me to stay and eat something after my adventures.
“Have you heard of Flint?” Dr. Livesey asked the squire.
“Yes, I have!” the squire replied. “He was one of the most dangerous pirates that ever sailed on the sea. He only cared about money and everyone was afraid of him. No one knows where he hid his treasure.”
“Maybe these papers give an answer,” said the doctor. And we opened the captain’s papers. Inside there was a detailed map. It showed an island, about nine miles long and five across. It had two good natural harbours and a hill in the centre, marked Spy-glass Hill. There were three crosses in red, two in the northern part and one in the south-west. Beside the last cross were the words: Most of the treasure here.

Alfred Fielding and Marc Chavannes created something that would change the shipment industry and make e-commerce stores possible: bubble wrap (气泡膜包装). It has been used by companies and people around the world for packing ever since.
The little air bubbles that make up a section of bubble wrap were, in fact, invented by chance. When the men fed two plastic shower curtains through a heat-sealing machine, they were trying to create a type of wallpaper. They failed, but they didn’t give up. They thought of more than 400 different uses for their soft, air-filled material, but none brought them much success.
Then, in 1960, IBM saw how useful bubble wrap could be for protecting its new, very expensive computers during shipment. A deal was made. By the mid-1960s, Fielding and Chavannes’s packing material had become a shipment must, which today protects millions of packages a year from damage.
For a lot of people, one of the best things about receiving a package is playing with the bubble wrap that comes with it.
What is it that makes bubble wrap so popular? Scientists have been looking into this for years and have some ideas. Some think that people are relaxed by touching things. So the smooth surface and bubbles are perfect for keeping our hands busy. In this way, people feel comfortable.

Most scientists say animals never feel happy or sad. In fact, they say animals probably don't feel love, anger, hate or other emotions either.
A scientist named Joseph E. LeDoux studied mice to find out whether animals have emotions. He found that mice have at least one emotion — fear. He also found the part of the brain that seems to control fear in mice. In humans, that part of the brain also controls fear, and some other emotions.
A number of scientists say animals have emotions. Some scientists who have studied animals such as dogs, cats, elephants and lions say those animals have emotions.

For example, an old chimpanzee died, and one of her sons, Flint, refused to eat food. Flint's brothers and sisters tried to get him to eat, but they failed. Three weeks later, Flint died. Goodall says Flint died of “sadness”.
Scientist Marc Bekoff watched an elk (驼鹿) run back and forth through the snow. Bekoff said it was feeling the “joy of life”. He said he couldn’t prove that animals have feelings, because animals can’t talk.
